| 57:1 | The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart; and mercifull men are taken away none considering that the righteous is taken away from the euill to come. |
| 57:2 | Hee shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his vprightnesse. |
| 57:3 | But draw neere hither, yee sonnes of the sorceresse, the seed of the adulterer, and the whore. |
| 57:4 | Against whom doe ye sport your selues? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seede of falsehood? |
| 57:5 | Inflaming your selues with idoles vnder euery greene tree, slaying the children in the valleys vnder the cliftes of the rockes? |
| 57:6 | Among the smooth stones of the streame is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: euen to them hast thou powred a drinke offering, thou hast offered a meate offering. Should I receiue comfort in these? |
| 57:7 | Upon a loftie and high mountaine hast thou set thy bed: euen thither wentest thou vp to offer sacrifice. |
| 57:8 | Behinde the doores also and the posts hast thou set vp thy remembrance: for thou hast discouered thy selfe to an other then mee, and art gone vp: thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made a couenant with them: thou louedst their bed where thou sawest it. |
| 57:9 | And thou wentest to the king with oyntment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers farre off, and didst debase thy selfe euen vnto hell. |
| 57:10 | Thou art wearied in the greatnesse of thy way; yet saydst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieued. |
| 57:11 | And of whom hast thou bene afraid or feared, that thou hast lyed, and hast not remembred me, nor layed it to thy heart? haue not I held my peace euen of old, and thou fearest me not? |
| 57:12 | I will declare thy righteousnes; and thy workes, for they shall not profit thee. |
| 57:13 | When thou criest, let thy companies deliuer thee: but the winde shall cary them all away; Uanitie shall take them: but hee that putteth his trust in me, shall possesse the land, and shall inherit my holy mountaine. |
| 57:14 | And shall say, Cast yee vp, cast yee vp; prepare the way, take vp the stumbling blocke out of the way of my people. |
| 57:15 | For thus saith the High and loftie One that inhabiteth eternitie, whose Name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place: with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to reuiue the spirit of the humble, and to reuiue the heart of the contrite ones. |
| 57:16 | For I will not contend for euer, neither will I be alwayes wroth: for the spirit should faile before me, and the soules which I haue made. |
| 57:17 | For the iniquitie of his couetousnesse was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and hee went on frowardly in the way of his heart. |
| 57:18 | I haue seene his wayes, and will heale him: I will leade him also, and restore comforts vnto him, and to his mourners. |
| 57:19 | I create the fruite of the lippes; peace, peace to him that is farre off, and to him that is neere, sayth the Lord, and I will heale him. |
| 57:20 | But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast vp myre and dirt. |
| 57:21 | There is no peace, sayth my God, to the wicked. |

| 57:2 | He commeth into peace, and godly men rest in their chaumbers, and before the godly man goeth peace |

| 57:4 | Wherin take ye your pleasure? vpon whom gape ye with your mouth, and bleare out your tongue? Are ye not children of transgression, and a seede of dissimulation |
| 57:5 | Ye make your fire vnder the okes, and vnder all greene trees, and ye offer children in the valleys and dennes of stone |
| 57:6 | Thy part shalbe with the stony rockes by the riuer, yea euen these shalbe thy part: For there thou hast powred meate & drynke offeryng vnto them: Shoulde I delyght in that |
| 57:7 | Thou hast made thy bed vpon hye mountaynes, thou wentest vp thyther, and there thou hast slayne sacrifices |
| 57:8 | Behynde the doores and postes hast thou set vp thy remembraunce, when thou hadst discouered thy selfe to another then me, when thou wentest vp and made thy bed wider, and with those idols hast thou made a couenaunt, and louedst their couches where thou sawest them |
| 57:9 | Thou wentest straight to kinges with oyle and diuers oyntmentes that is thou hast sent thy messengers farre of, and yet art thou fallen into the pit |
| 57:10 | Thou art weerie for the multitude of thyne owne wayes, yet saydest thou neuer, there is no hope: Thou hast had the life that thy handes wrought, and therefore thou art carelesse |
| 57:11 | For whom wylt thou be abashed or feare, seing thou hast broken thy promise, and remembrest not me, neither hast me in thyne heart? Thinkest thou that I also wyll holde my peace as aforetime, that thou fearest me not |
| 57:12 | Yea veryly I wyll declare thy goodnesse and thy workes, but they shall not profite thee |
| 57:13 | When thou cryest, let thy chosen heape deliuer thee: but the winde shall blowe them foorth, and vanitie shal take them all away: Neuerthelesse they that put their trust in me, shall inherite the land, and haue my holy hill in possession |
| 57:14 | And therefore thus he saith: make playne, make playne, and clense the streete, take vp the stumbling blockes out of the way of my people |
| 57:15 | For thus saith the hye and excellent, euen he that dwelleth in euerlastingnesse, whose name is the holy one: I dwell hye aboue and in the sanctuarie, and with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirite do I dwell, that I may heale a troubled minde, and a contrite heart |
| 57:16 | For I chyde not euer, and am not wroth without ende: but the blasting goeth from me, and is included in the body, and I made the breath |
| 57:17 | I am wroth with hym for his couetousnesse, I smite hym, I hide me and am angrie, and he turneth himselfe, and foloweth thee by the way of his owne heart |
| 57:18 | I haue seene his wayes, and I heale hym, I leade him, and restore to hym comfort, and to those that were sorie for hym |
| 57:19 | I make the fruites of thankesgeuing, that he may say, peace, peace, vnto the that are farre of, and to them that are nye saith the Lorde, I make hym whole |
| 57:20 | But the wicked are lyke the raging sea that can not rest, whose water fometh with the mire and grauell |
| 57:21 | Euen so the wicked haue no peace, saith God |

| 57:8 | Behinde the doores also and postes hast thou set vp thy remembrance: for thou hast discouered thy selfe to another then me, and wentest vp, and diddest enlarge thy bed, and make a couenant betweene thee and them, and louedst their bed in euery place where thou sawest it. |
| 57:9 | Thou wentest to the Kings with oyle, and diddest increase thine oyntments and sende thy messengers farre off, and diddest humble thy selfe vnto hell. |
| 57:10 | Thou weariedst thy selfe in thy manifolde iourneys, yet saydest thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found life by thine hand, therefore thou wast not grieued. |
| 57:11 | And whome diddest thou reuerence or feare, seeing thou hast lyed vnto me, and hast not remembred me, neither set thy minde thereon? is it not because I holde my peace, and that of long time? therefore thou fearest not me. |
| 57:12 | I will declare thy righteousnes and thy workes, and they shall not profite thee. |
| 57:13 | When thou cryest, let them that thou hast gathered together deliuer thee: but the winde shall take them all away: vanitie shall pull them away: but he that trusteth in me, shall inherite the lande, and shall possesse mine holy Mountaine. |
| 57:14 | And he shall say, Cast vp, cast vp: prepare the way: take vp the stumbling blocks out of the way of my people. |
| 57:15 | For thus sayth he that is hie and excellent, he that inhabiteth the eternitie, whose Name is the Holy one, I dwell in the high and holy place: with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirite to reuiue the spirite of the humble, and to giue life to them that are of a contrite heart. |
| 57:16 | For I will not contende for euer, neither will I be alwayes wroth, for the spirite should fayle before me: and I haue made the breath. |
| 57:17 | For his wicked couetousnesse I am angry with him, and haue smitten him: I hid mee and was angry, yet he went away, and turned after the way of his owne heart. |
| 57:18 | I haue seene his wayes, and wil heale him: I wil leade him also, and restore comfort vnto him, and to those that lament him. |
| 57:19 | I create the fruite of the lips, to be peace: peace vnto them that are farre off, and to them that are neere, sayth the Lord: for I will heale him. |
| 57:20 | But the wicked are like the raging sea, that can not rest, whose waters cast vp myre and dirt. |
| 57:21 | There is no peace, sayth my God, to the wicked. |
