Exodus - Chapter: 22


22:1	If a man shall steal an ox, or a sheep, and kill it, or sell it; he shall restore five oxen for an ox, and four sheep for a sheep.
22:2	If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
22:3	If the sun be risen upon him, there shall be blood shed for him; for he should make full restitution; if he have nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.
22:4	If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
22:5	If a man shall cause a field or vineyard to be eaten, and shall put in his beast, and shall feed in another man's field; of the best of his own field, and of the best of his own vineyard, shall he make restitution.
22:6	If fire break out, and catch in thorns, so that the stacks of corn, or the standing corn, or the field, be consumed therewith; he that kindled the fire shall surely make restitution.
22:7	If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.
22:8	If the thief be not found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.
22:9	For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or for any manner of lost thing, which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judges; and whom the judges shall condemn, he shall pay double unto his neighbour.
22:10	If a man deliver unto his neighbour an ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
22:11	Then shall an oath of the LORD be between them both, that he hath not put his hand unto his neighbour's goods; and the owner of it shall accept thereof, and he shall not make it good.
22:12	And if it be stolen from him, he shall make restitution unto the owner thereof.
22:13	If it be torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn.
22:14	And if a man borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
22:15	But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an hired thing, it came for his hire.
22:16	And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife.
22:17	If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
22:18	Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
22:19	Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
22:20	He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
22:21	Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
22:22	Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child.
22:23	If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;
22:24	And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
22:25	If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.
22:26	If thou at all take thy neighbour's raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down:
22:27	For that is his covering only, it is his raiment for his skin: wherein shall he sleep? and it shall come to pass, when he crieth unto me, that I will hear; for I am gracious.
22:28	Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people.
22:29	Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors: the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me.
22:30	Likewise shalt thou do with thine oxen, and with thy sheep: seven days it shall be with his dam; on the eighth day thou shalt give it me.
22:31	And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.


22:1	(21:37) כי יגנב אישׁ שׁור או שׂה וטבחו או מכרו חמשׁה בקר ישׁלם תחת השׁור וארבע צאן תחת השׂה׃
22:2	(22:1) אם במחתרת ימצא הגנב והכה ומת אין לו דמים׃
22:3	(22:2) אם זרחה השׁמשׁ עליו דמים לו שׁלם ישׁלם אם אין לו ונמכר בגנבתו׃
22:4	(22:3) אם המצא תמצא בידו הגנבה משׁור עד חמור עד שׂה חיים שׁנים ישׁלם׃
22:5	(22:4) כי יבער אישׁ שׂדה או כרם ושׁלח את בעירה ובער בשׂדה אחר מיטב שׂדהו ומיטב כרמו ישׁלם׃
22:6	(22:5) כי תצא אשׁ ומצאה קצים ונאכל גדישׁ או הקמה או השׂדה שׁלם ישׁלם המבער את הבערה׃
22:7	(22:6) כי יתן אישׁ אל רעהו כסף או כלים לשׁמר וגנב מבית האישׁ אם ימצא הגנב ישׁלם שׁנים׃
22:8	(22:7) אם לא ימצא הגנב ונקרב בעל הבית אל האלהים אם לא שׁלח ידו במלאכת רעהו׃
22:9	(22:8) על כל דבר פשׁע על שׁור על חמור על שׂה על שׂלמה על כל אבדה אשׁר יאמר כי הוא זה עד האלהים יבא דבר שׁניהם אשׁר ירשׁיען אלהים ישׁלם שׁנים לרעהו׃
22:10	(22:9) כי יתן אישׁ אל רעהו חמור או שׁור או שׂה וכל בהמה לשׁמר ומת או נשׁבר או נשׁבה אין ראה׃
22:11	(22:10) שׁבעת יהוה תהיה בין שׁניהם אם לא שׁלח ידו במלאכת רעהו ולקח בעליו ולא ישׁלם׃
22:12	(22:11) ואם גנב יגנב מעמו ישׁלם לבעליו׃
22:13	(22:12) אם טרף יטרף יבאהו עד הטרפה לא ישׁלם׃
22:14	(22:13) וכי ישׁאל אישׁ מעם רעהו ונשׁבר או מת בעליו אין עמו שׁלם ישׁלם׃
22:15	(22:14) אם בעליו עמו לא ישׁלם אם שׂכיר הוא בא בשׂכרו׃
22:16	(22:15) וכי יפתה אישׁ בתולה אשׁר לא ארשׂה ושׁכב עמה מהר ימהרנה לו לאשׁה׃
22:17	(22:16) אם מאן ימאן אביה לתתה לו כסף ישׁקל כמהר הבתולת׃
22:18	(22:17) מכשׁפה לא תחיה׃
22:19	(22:18) כל שׁכב עם בהמה מות יומת׃
22:20	(22:19) זבח לאלהים יחרם בלתי ליהוה לבדו׃
22:21	(22:20) וגר לא תונה ולא תלחצנו כי גרים הייתם בארץ מצרים׃
22:22	(22:21) כל אלמנה ויתום לא תענון׃
22:23	(22:22) אם ענה תענה אתו כי אם צעק יצעק אלי שׁמע אשׁמע צעקתו׃
22:24	(22:23) וחרה אפי והרגתי אתכם בחרב והיו נשׁיכם אלמנות ובניכם יתמים׃
22:25	(22:24) אם כסף תלוה את עמי את העני עמך לא תהיה לו כנשׁה לא תשׂימון עליו נשׁך׃
22:26	(22:25) אם חבל תחבל שׂלמת רעך עד בא השׁמשׁ תשׁיבנו׃
22:27	(22:26) כי הוא כסותה לבדה הוא שׂמלתו לערו במה ישׁכב והיה כי יצעק אלי ושׁמעתי כי חנון אני׃
22:28	(22:27) אלהים לא תקלל ונשׂיא בעמך לא תאר׃
22:29	(22:28) מלאתך ודמעך לא תאחר בכור בניך תתן׃
22:30	(22:29) כן תעשׂה לשׁרך לצאנך שׁבעת ימים יהיה עם אמו ביום השׁמיני תתנו׃
22:31	(22:30) ואנשׁי קדשׁ תהיון לי ובשׂר בשׂדה טרפה לא תאכלו לכלב תשׁלכון אתו׃


22:1	`When a man doth steal an ox or sheep, and hath slaughtered it or sold it, five of the herd he doth repay for the ox, and four of the flock for the sheep.
22:2	`If in the breaking through, the thief is found, and he hath been smitten, and hath died, there is no blood for him;
22:3	if the sun hath risen upon him, blood `is' for him, he doth certainly repay; if he have nothing, then he hath been sold for his theft;
22:4	if the theft is certainly found in his hand alive, whether ox, or ass, or sheep -- double he repayeth.
22:5	`When a man depastureth a field or vineyard, and hath sent out his beast, and it hath pastured in the field of another, `of' the best of his field, and the best of his vineyard, he doth repay.
22:6	`When fire goeth forth, and hath found thorns, and a stack, or the standing corn, or the field, hath been consumed, he who causeth the burning doth certainly repay.
22:7	`When a man doth give unto his neighbour silver, or vessels to keep, and it hath been stolen out of the man's house; if the thief is found, he repayeth double.
22:8	`If the thief is not found, then the master of the house hath been brought near unto God, whether he hath not put forth his hand against the work of his neighbour;
22:9	for every matter of transgression, for ox, for ass, for sheep, for raiment, for any lost thing of which it is said that it is his; unto God cometh the matter of them both; he whom God doth condemn, he repayeth double to his neighbour.
22:10	`When a man doth give unto his neighbour an ass, or ox, or sheep, or any beast to keep, and it hath died, or hath been hurt, or taken captive, none seeing --
22:11	an oath of Jehovah is between them both, that he hath not put forth his hand against the work of his neighbour, and its owner hath accepted, and he doth not repay;
22:12	but if it is certainly stolen from him, he doth repay to its owner;
22:13	if it is certainly torn, he bringeth it in -- a witness; the torn thing he doth not repay.
22:14	`And when a man doth ask `anything' from his neighbour, and it hath been hurt or hath died -- its owner not being with it -- he doth certainly repay;
22:15	if its owner `is' with it, he doth not repay, -- if it `is' a hired thing, it hath come for its hire.
22:16	`And when a man doth entice a virgin who `is' not betrothed, and hath lain with her, he doth certainly endow her to himself for a wife;
22:17	if her father utterly refuse to give her to him, money he doth weigh out according to the dowry of virgins.
22:18	`A witch thou dost not keep alive.
22:19	`Whoever lieth with a beast is certainly put to death.
22:20	`He who is sacrificing to a god, save to Jehovah alone, is devoted.
22:21	`And a sojourner thou dost not oppress, nor crush him, for sojourners ye have been in the land of Egypt.
22:22	`Any widow or orphan ye do not afflict;
22:23	if thou dost really afflict him, surely if he at all cry unto Me, I certainly hear his cry;
22:24	and Mine anger hath burned, and I have slain you by the sword, and your wives have been widows, and your sons orphans.
22:25	`If thou dost lend My poor people with thee money, thou art not to him as a usurer; thou dost not lay on him usury;
22:26	if thou dost at all take in pledge the garment of thy neighbour, during the going in of the sun thou dost return it to him:
22:27	for it alone is his covering, it `is' his garment for his skin; wherein doth he lie down? and it hath come to pass, when he doth cry unto Me, that I have heard, for I `am' gracious.
22:28	`God thou dost not revile, and a prince among thy people thou dost not curse.
22:29	`Thy fulness and thy liquids thou dost not delay; the first-born of thy sons thou dost give to Me;
22:30	so thou dost to thine ox, to thy sheep; seven days it is with its dam, on the eighth day thou dost give it to Me.
22:31	`And ye are holy men to Me, and flesh torn in the field ye do not eat, to a dog ye do cast it.
