Mark - Chapter: 5

>
5:1And they came to the other side of the sea, to the region of the Gadarenes,
5:2and he having come forth out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
5:3who had his dwelling in the tombs, and not even with chains was any one able to bind him,
5:4because that he many times with fetters and chains had been bound, and pulled in pieces by him had been the chains, and the fetters broken in pieces, and none was able to tame him,
5:5and always, night and day, in the mountains, and in the tombs he was, crying and cutting himself with stones.
5:6And, having seen Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed before him,
5:7and having called with a loud voice, he said, `What -- to me and to thee, Jesus, Son of God the Most High? I adjure thee by God, mayest thou not afflict me!'
5:8(for he said to him, `Come forth, spirit unclean, out of the man,')
5:9and he was questioning him, `What `is' thy name?' and he answered, saying, `Legion `is' my name, because we are many;'
5:10and he was calling on him much, that he may not send them out of the region.
5:11And there was there, near the mountains, a great herd of swine feeding,
5:12and all the demons did call upon him, saying, `Send us to the swine, that into them we may enter;'
5:13and immediately Jesus gave them leave, and having come forth, the unclean spirits did enter into the swine, and the herd did rush down the steep place to the sea -- and they were about two thousand -- and they were choked in the sea.
5:14And those feeding the swine did flee, and told in the city, and in the fields, and they came forth to see what it is that hath been done;
5:15and they come unto Jesus, and see the demoniac, sitting, and clothed, and right-minded -- him having had the legion -- and they were afraid;
5:16and those having seen `it', declared to them how it had come to pass to the demoniac, and about the swine;
5:17and they began to call upon him to go away from their borders.
5:18And he having gone into the boat, the demoniac was calling on him that he may be with him,
5:19and Jesus did not suffer him, but saith to him, `Go away to thy house, unto thine own `friends', and tell them how great things the Lord did to thee, and dealt kindly with thee;
5:20and he went away, and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how great things Jesus did to him, and all were wondering.
5:21And Jesus having passed over in the boat again to the other side, there was gathered a great multitude to him, and he was near the sea,
5:22and lo, there doth come one of the chiefs of the synagogue, by name Jairus, and having seen him, he doth fall at his feet,
5:23and he was calling upon him much, saying -- `My little daughter is at the last extremity -- that having come, thou mayest lay on her `thy' hands, so that she may be saved, and she shall live;'
5:24and he went away with him. And there was following him a great multitude, and they were thronging him,
5:25and a certain woman, having an issue of blood twelve years,
5:26and many things having suffered under many physicians, and having spent all that she had, and having profited nothing, but rather having come to the worse,
5:27having heard about Jesus, having come in the multitude behind, she touched his garment,
5:28for she said -- `If even his garments I may touch, I shall be saved;'
5:29and immediately was the fountain of her blood dried up, and she knew in the body that she hath been healed of the plague.
5:30And immediately Jesus having known in himself that out of him power had gone forth, having turned about in the multitude, said, `Who did touch my garments?'
5:31and his disciples said to him, `Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and thou sayest, `Who did touch me!'
5:32And he was looking round to see her who did this,
5:33and the woman, having been afraid, and trembling, knowing what was done on her, came, and fell down before him, and told him all the truth,
5:34and he said to her, `Daughter, thy faith hath saved thee; go away in peace, and be whole from thy plague.'
5:35As he is yet speaking, there come from the chief of the synagogue's `house, certain', saying -- `Thy daughter did die, why still dost thou harass the Teacher?'
5:36And Jesus immediately, having heard the word that is spoken, saith to the chief of the synagogue, `Be not afraid, only believe.'
5:37And he did not suffer any one to follow with him, except Peter, and James, and John the brother of James;
5:38and he cometh to the house of the chief of the synagogue, and seeth a tumult, much weeping and wailing;
5:39and having gone in he saith to them, `Why do ye make a tumult, and weep? the child did not die, but doth sleep;
5:40and they were laughing at him. And he, having put all forth, doth take the father of the child, and the mother, and those with him, and goeth in where the child is lying,
5:41and, having taken the hand of the child, he saith to her, `Talitha cumi;' which is, being interpreted, `Damsel (I say to thee), arise.'
5:42And immediately the damsel arose, and was walking, for she was twelve years `old'; and they were amazed with a great amazement,
5:43and he charged them much, that no one may know this thing, and he said that there be given to her to eat.

5:1And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.
5:2And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
5:3Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:
5:4Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5:5And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
5:6But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,
5:7And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
5:8For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
5:9And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
5:10And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
5:11Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
5:12And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
5:13And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
5:14And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
5:15And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
5:16And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
5:17And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
5:18And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
5:19Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
5:20And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
5:21And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
5:22And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
5:23And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.
5:24And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.
5:25And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
5:26And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
5:27When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
5:28For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
5:29And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
5:30And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?
5:31And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?
5:32And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.
5:33But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.
5:34And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
5:35While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
5:36As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
5:37And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.
5:38And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
5:39And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
5:40And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
5:41And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
5:42And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.
5:43And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat.

5:1And they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes.
5:2And He coming out from the boat, immediately out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit met Him,
5:3who had his abode among the tombs; and no one was able to bind him, not even with chains.
5:4Because he had often been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been torn by him, and the fetters had been shattered. And no one was able to subdue him.
5:5And continually night and day in the hills, and in the tombs, he was crying and cutting himself with stones.
5:6And seeing Jesus from afar, he ran and bowed the knee to Him.
5:7And crying with a loud voice, he said, What is to me and to You, Jesus, Son of the most high God? I adjure You by God, do not torment me.
5:8For He said to him, Unclean spirit, come out of the man!
5:9And He asked him, What is your name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion, because we are many.
5:10And he begged Him very much that He would not send them outside the country.
5:11And a great herd of pigs were feeding there near the mountain.
5:12And all the demons begged Him, saying, Send us into the pigs, that we may enter into them.
5:13And Jesus immediately allowed them. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered into the pigs. And the herd rushed down the cliff into the sea (and they were about two thousand), and they were choked in the sea.
5:14And those who fed the pigs fled, and they told it to the city, and to the fields. And they came out to see what was happening.
5:15And they came to Jesus, and stared at the one who had been demon possessed, sitting and being clothed, and being in his senses, the one who had the legion. And they feared.
5:16And those seeing it related to them how it happened to the one who had been demon possessed, and about the pigs.
5:17And they began to beg Him to depart from their borders.
5:18And He having entered into the boat, the former demoniac begged Him, that he be with Him.
5:19But Jesus did not allow him, but said to him, Go to your house, to your own, and announce to them what the Lord has done to you and had mercy on you.
5:20And he left and began to proclaim in Decapolis what Jesus did to him. And all marveled.
5:21And Jesus having crossed over in the boat again to the other side, a large crowd gathered upon Him; and He was by the sea.
5:22And, behold, one of the synagogue rulers named Jairus came. And seeing Him, he fell at His feet.
5:23And he begged Him very much, saying, My daughter is at the last end. I pray that You will come and lay hands on her, that she may be cured and live.
5:24And He went with him. And a large crowd followed Him and pressed on Him.
5:25And a certain woman being with a flow of blood twelve years,
5:26and who had suffered many things by many physicians, and had spent all things that she had, and gaining nothing, but rather coming to worse,
5:27hearing about Jesus, coming in the crowd behind Him , she touched His garment.
5:28For she said, If I may but touch His garments, I will be cured.
5:29And instantly the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was healed of the plague.
5:30And knowing instantly within Himself that power had gone forth out of Him, turning in the crowd, Jesus said, Who touched My garments?
5:31And His disciples said to Him, You see the crowd pressing on You, and do You say, Who touched Me?
5:32And He looked around to see the one who had done this.
5:33And the woman, being afraid and trembling, knowing what had happened on her, she came and fell down before Him and told Him all the truth.
5:34And He said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be whole from your plague.
5:35As He was speaking, they came from the synagogue ruler saying, Your daughter has died. Why do you still trouble the Teacher?
5:36But hearing the word spoken, Jesus said to the synagogue ruler at once, Do not fear, only believe.
5:37And He did not allow anyone to go with Him except Peter and James and John, the brother of James.
5:38And they came into the synagogue ruler's house. And He saw a tumult, and weeping and much wailing.
5:39And going in, He said to them, Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child has not died, but is sleeping.
5:40And they laughed at Him. But putting all out, He took along the father and the mother of the child, and those with Him, and passed on into where the child was lying.
5:41And taking hold of the child's hand, He said to her, Talitha koumi; which is, being translated, Little girl, I say to you, Rise up!
5:42And immediately the little girl rose up and walked. For she was twelve years old . And they were amazed with great amazement.
5:43And very much He directed them that no one should know this. And He said to give her something to eat.
