19:1	So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him.
19:2	And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put a purple robe on Him.
19:3	Then they said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" And they struck Him with their hands.
19:4	Then Pilate then went out again, and said to them, "Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him."
19:5	Then Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them, "Behold the Man!"
19:6	Therefore, when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they shouted out, saying, "Crucify Him, crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "You take Him and crucify Him, because I find no fault in Him."
19:7	The Jews replied to him, "We have a law, and according to our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God."
19:8	Therefore, when Pilate heard that saying, he was the more afraid,
19:9	and went again into the judgment hall, and said to Jesus, "Where are You from?" But Jesus gave him no answer.
19:10	Then Pilate said to Him, "Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have authority to crucify You, and have authority to release You?"
19:11	Jesus answered, "You could have no authority at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin."
19:12	From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews shouted out, saying, "If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar's friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar."
19:13	When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus out and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called The Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
19:14	Now it was the Preparation Day of the Passover, and about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, "Behold your King!"
19:15	But they shouted out, "Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar!"
19:16	Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led Him away.
19:17	And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in the Hebrew, Golgotha,
19:18	where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the middle.
19:19	Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
19:20	Then many of the Jews read this title, because, the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
19:21	So the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, "Do not write, 'The King of the Jews,' but, 'He said, "I am the King of the Jews."'"
19:22	Pilate replied, "What I have written, I have written."
19:23	Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His clothes and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also His coat. Now the coat was without seam, woven from the top in one piece.
19:24	Therefore they said among themselves, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be," that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided My clothes among them, and for My coat they cast lots." Therefore the soldiers did these things.
19:25	Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.
19:26	Therefore, when Jesus saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!"
19:27	Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.
19:28	After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, "I thirst!"
19:29	Now a vessel full of vinegar was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with vinegar, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth.
19:30	So when Jesus had received the vinegar, He said, "It is finished!" He bowed His head, and gave up His spirit.
19:31	Then since it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath day (because that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
19:32	Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who was crucified with Him.
19:33	But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs.
19:34	But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and blood and water came out straight away.
19:35	And he who saw it bare record, and his record is true; and he knows that he is speaking the truth, so that you may believe.
19:36	Because these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, "Not one of His bones will be broken."
19:37	And again another Scripture says, "They will look on Him whom they pierced."
19:38	After this, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body of Jesus.
19:39	And Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, weighing about a hundred pounds.
19:40	Then they took the body of Jesus, and bound it in strips of linen with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is to bury.
19:41	Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
19:42	So there they laid Jesus, because of the Jews' Preparation Day, because the tomb was nearby.


19:1	Then Pilate tooke Iesus and scourged him.
19:2	And the souldiers platted a crowne of thornes, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple garment,
19:3	And saide, Haile, King of the Iewes. And they smote him with their roddes.
19:4	Then Pilate went foorth againe, and said vnto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may knowe, that I finde no fault in him at all.
19:5	Then came Iesus foorth wearing a crowne of thornes, and a purple garment. And Pilate said vnto them, Beholde the man.
19:6	Then when the hie Priests and officers sawe him, they cried, saying, Crucifie, crucifie him. Pilate said vnto them, Take yee him and crucifie him: for I finde no fault in him.
19:7	The Iewes answered him, We haue a lawe, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himselfe the Sonne of God.
19:8	When Pilate then heard that woorde, he was the more afraide,
19:9	And went againe into the common hall, and saide vnto Iesus, Whence art thou? But Iesus gaue him none answere.
19:10	Then saide Pilate vnto him, Speakest thou not vnto me? Knowest thou not that I haue power to crucifie thee, and haue power to loose thee?
19:11	Iesus answered, Thou couldest haue no power at all against me, except it were giuen thee from aboue: therefore he that deliuered me vnto thee, hath the greater sinne.
19:12	From thence foorth Pilate sought to loose him, but the Iewes cried, saying, If thou deliuer him, thou art not Cesars friende: for whosoeuer maketh himselfe a King, speaketh against Cesar.
19:13	When Pilate heard this woorde, hee brought Iesus foorth, and sate downe in the iudgement seate in a place called the Pauement, and in Hebrewe, Gabbatha.
19:14	And it was the Preparation of the Passeouer, and about the sixt houre: and hee sayde vnto the Iewes, Beholde your King.
19:15	But they cried, Away with him, away with him, crucifie him. Pilate sayde vnto them, Shall I crucifie your King? The high Priestes answered, We haue no King but Cesar.
19:16	Then deliuered he him vnto them, to be crucified. And they tooke Iesus, and led him away.
19:17	And he bare his owne crosse, and came into a place named of dead mens Skulles, which is called in Hebrewe, Golgotha:
19:18	Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Iesus in the middes.
19:19	And Pilate wrote also a title, and put it on the crosse, and it was written, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWES.
19:20	This title then read many of the Iewes: for the place where Iesus was crucified, was neere to the citie: and it was written in Hebrewe, Greeke and Latine.
19:21	Then saide the hie Priests of the Iewes to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Iewes, but that he sayd, I am King of the Iewes.
19:22	Pilate answered, What I haue written, I haue written.
19:23	Then the souldiers, when they had crucified Iesus, tooke his garments (and made foure partes, to euery souldier a part) and his coat: and the coat was without seame wouen from the toppe throughout.
19:24	Therefore they sayde one to another, Let vs not deuide it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be. This was that the Scripture might be fulfilled, which sayth, They parted my garments among them, and on my coate did cast lots. So the souldiers did these things in deede.
19:25	Then stoode by the crosse of Iesus his mother, and his mothers sister, Marie the wife of Cleopas, and Marie Magdalene.
19:26	And when Iesus sawe his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loued, he said vnto his mother, Woman, beholde thy sonne.
19:27	Then saide he to the disciple, Beholde thy mother: and from that houre, the disciple tooke her home vnto him.
19:28	After, when Iesus knew that all things were performed, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, he said, I thirst.
19:29	And there was set a vessell full of vineger: and they filled a spondge with vineger: and put it about an Hyssope stalke, and put it to his mouth.
19:30	Nowe when Iesus had receiued of the vineger, he saide, It is finished, and bowed his head, and gaue vp the ghost.
19:31	The Iewes then (because it was the Preparation, that the bodies should not remaine vpon the crosse on the Sabbath day: for that Sabbath was an hie day) besought Pilate that their legges might be broken, and that they might be taken downe.
19:32	Then came the souldiers and brake the legges of the first, and of the other, which was crucified with Iesus.
19:33	But when they came to Iesus, and saw that he was dead alreadie, they brake not his legges.
19:34	But one of the souldiers with a speare pearced his side, and foorthwith came there out blood and water.
19:35	And he that sawe it, bare recorde, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might beleeue it.
19:36	For these things were done, that the Scripture shoulde be fulfilled, Not a bone of him shalbe broken.
19:37	And againe an other Scripture saith, They shall see him whom they haue thrust through.
19:38	And after these things, Ioseph of Arimathea (who was a disciple of Iesus, but secretly for feare of the Iewes) besought Pilate that he might take downe the bodie of Iesus. And Pilate gaue him licence. He came then and tooke Iesus body.
19:39	And there came also Nicodemus (which first came to Iesus by night) and brought of myrrhe and aloes mingled together about an hundreth pound.
19:40	Then tooke they the body of Iesus, and wrapped it in linnen clothes with the odours, as the maner of the Iewes is to burie.
19:41	And in that place where Iesus was crucified, was a garden, and in the garden a newe sepulchre, wherein was neuer man yet laid.
19:42	There then laide they Iesus, because of the Iewes Preparation day, for the sepulchre was neere.


19:1	Then Pylate toke Iesus and scourged him.
19:2	And ye soudiers wounde a croune of thornes and put it on his heed. And they dyd on him a purple garment
19:3	and sayd: hayll kynge of the Iewes: and they smote him on the face.
19:4	Pylate went forthe agayne and sayde vnto them: beholde I bringe him forth to you that ye maye knowe that I fynde no faute in him.
19:5	Then came Iesus forthe wearynge a croune of thorne and a robe of purple. And Pylate sayd vnto them: beholde ye man.
19:6	When the hye Prestes and ministres sawe him they cryed sayinge: crucify him crucify him. Pylate sayde vnto them. Take ye him and crucify him: for I fynde no cause in him.
19:7	The Iewes answered him. We have a lawe and by oure lawe he ought to dye: because he made him selfe the sonne of God.
19:8	When Pylate hearde that sayinge he was the moare afrayde
19:9	and went agayne into ye iudgment hall and sayde vnto Iesus: whence arte thou? But Iesus gave him none answere.
19:10	Then sayde Pylate vnto him. Speakest thou not vnto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify the and have power to lowse the?
19:11	Iesus answered: Thou couldest have no power at all agaynst me except it were geven the from above. Therfore he yt delyvered me vnto the is moare in synne.
19:12	And from thence forthe sought Pylate meanes to lowse him: but the Iewes cryed sayinge: yf thou let him goo thou arte not Cesars frende. For whosoever maketh hi selfe a kynge is agaynst Cesar
19:13	When Pylate hearde yt sayinge he brought Iesus forthe and sate doune to geve sentece in a place called the pavement: but in the Hebrue tonge Gabbatha.
19:14	It was the Saboth even which falleth in the ester fest and aboute the sixte houre. And he sayde vnto the Iewes: beholde youre kynge.
19:15	They cryed awaye with him awaye with him crucify him. Pylate sayde vnto them. Shall I crucify youre kynge? The hye Prestes answered: we have no kynge but Cesar.
19:16	Then delyvered he him vnto them to be crucified. And they toke Iesus and led him awaye.
19:17	And he bare his crosse and went forthe into a place called the place of deed mens sculles which is named in Hebrue Golgatha.
19:18	Where they crucified him and two other with him on ether syde one and Iesus in the myddes.
19:19	And Pylate wrote his tytle and put it on the crosse. The writynge was Iesus of Nazareth kynge of the Iewes.
19:20	This tytle reed many of the Iewes. For the place where Iesus was crucified was nye to the cite. And it was written in Hebrue Greke and Latyn.
19:21	Then sayde the hye prestes of ye Iewes to Pylate: wryte not kynge of the Iewes: but that he sayde I am kynge of the Iewes.
19:22	Pylate answered: what I have written that have I written.
19:23	Then the soudiers when they had crucified Iesus toke his garmentes and made foure partes to every soudier a parte and also his coote. The coote was with out seme wrought vpon thorowe out.
19:24	And they sayde one to another. Let vs not devyde it: but cast loostes who shall have it That the scripture myght be fulfilled which sayth. They parted my rayment amonge them and on my coote dyd cast lottes. And the soudiers dyd soche thinges in dede.
19:25	Ther stode by the crosse of Iesus his mother and his mothers sister Mary the wyfe of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene.
19:26	When Iesus sawe his mother and the disciple stondynge whom he loved he sayde vnto his mother: woman beholde thy sonne.
19:27	Then sayde he to ye disciple: beholde thy mother. And fro that houre the disciple toke her for his awne.
19:28	After that when Iesus perceaved that all thinges were performed: that the scripture myght be fulfilled he sayde: I thyrst.
19:29	Ther stode a vessell full of veneger by. And they filled a sponge with veneger and wounde it about with ysope and put it to his mouth.
19:30	Assone as Iesus had receaved of the veneger he sayd: It is fynesshed and bowed his heed and gaue vp the goost.
19:31	The Iewes then because it was the saboth eve that ye bodyes shuld not remayne apon ye crosse on ye saboth daye (for that saboth daye was an hye daye) besought Pylate that their legges myght be broken and that they myght be taken doune.
19:32	Then came the soudiers and brake the legges of the fyrst and of the other which was crucified with Iesus.
19:33	But when they came to Iesus and sawe that he was deed already they brake not his legges:
19:34	but one of the soudiers with a speare thrust him into the syde and forthwith came ther out bloud and water.
19:35	And he that sawe it bare recorde and his recorde is true. And he knoweth that he sayth true that ye myght beleve also.
19:36	These thinges were done that the scripture shuld be fulfilled: Ye shall not breake a boone of him.
19:37	And agayne another scripture sayth: They shall looke on him whom they pearsed.
19:38	After that Ioseph of Aramathia (which was a disciple of Iesus: but secretly for feare of ye Iewes) besought Pylate that he myght take doune the body of Iesus. And Pylate gave him licence.
19:39	And ther cam also Nicodemus which at the beginnynge came to Iesus by nyght and brought of myrre and aloes mingled to gether aboute an hundred pounde wayght
19:40	Then toke they the body of Iesu and wounde it in lynnen clothes with the odoures as ye maner of the Iewes is to bury.
19:41	And in the place where Iesus was crucified was a garden and in ye garden a newe sepulchre wherin was never man layd.
19:42	There layde they Iesus because of the Iewes saboth even for the sepulcre was nye at honde.
