Hebrews - Chapter: 7

>
7:1And this Melchisedech, king of Salem, and preest of the hiyeste God, which mette with Abraham, as he turnede ayen fro the sleyng of kyngis, and blesside hym;
7:2to whom also Abraham departide tithis of alle thingis; first he is seid king of riytwisnesse, and aftirward kyng of Salem, that is to seie, king of pees,
7:3with out fadir, with out modir, with out genologie, nether hauynge bigynnyng of daies, nether ende of lijf; and he is lickened to the sone of God, and dwellith preest with outen ende.
7:4But biholde ye how greet is this, to whom Abraham the patriark yaf tithis of the beste thingis.
7:5For men of the sones of Leuy takinge presthod han maundement to take tithis of the puple, bi the lawe, that is to seie, of her britheren, thouy also thei wenten out of the leendis of Abraham.
7:6But he whos generacioun is not noumbrid in hem, took tithis of Abraham; and he blesside this Abraham, which hadde repromyssiouns.
7:7With outen ony ayenseiyng, that that is lesse, is blessid of the betere.
7:8And heere deedli men taken tithis; but there he berith witnessyng, that he lyueth.
7:9And that it be seid so, bi Abraham also Leuy, that took tithis, was tithid; and yit he was in his fadris leendis,
7:10whanne Melchisedech mette with hym.
7:11Therfor if perfeccioun was bi the preesthood of Leuy, for vndur hym the puple took the lawe, what yit was it nedeful, another preest to rise, bi the ordre of Melchisedech, and not to be seid bi the ordre of Aaron?
7:12For whi whanne the preesthod is translatid, it is nede that also translacioun of the lawe be maad.
7:13But he in whom these thingis ben seid, is of another lynage, of which no man was preest to the auter.
7:14For it is opyn, that oure Lord is borun of Juda, in which lynage Moises spak no thing of preestis.
7:15And more yit it is knowun, if bi the ordre of Melchisedech another preest is risun vp;
7:16which is not maad bi the lawe of fleischli maundement, but bi vertu of lijf that may not be vndon.
7:17For he witnessith, That thou art a preest with outen ende, bi the ordre of Melchisedech;
7:18that repreuyng of the maundement bifor goynge is maad, for the vnsadnesse and vnprofit of it.
7:19For whi the lawe brouyt no thing to perfeccioun, but there is a bringing in of a betere hope, bi which we neiyen to God.
7:20And hou greet it is, not with out sweryng; but the othere ben maad preestis with outen an ooth;
7:21but this preest with an ooth, bi hym that seide `to hym, The Lord swoor, and it schal not rewe hym, Thou art a preest with outen ende, bi the ordre of Melchisedech;
7:22in so myche Jhesus is maad biheetere of the betere testament.
7:23And the othere weren maad manye preestis, `therfor for thei weren forbedun bi deth to dwelle stille;
7:24but this, for he dwellith with outen ende, hath an euerlastynge preesthod.
7:25Wherfor also he may saue with outen ende, comynge nyy bi hym silf to God, and euermore lyueth to preye for vs.
7:26For it bisemyde that sich a man were a bischop to vs, hooli, innocent, vndefoulid, clene, departid fro synful men, and maad hiyere than heuenes;
7:27which hath not nede ech dai, as prestis, first for hise owne giltis to offre sacrifices, and aftirward for the puple; for he dide this thing in offringe hym silf onys.
7:28And the lawe ordeynede men prestis hauynge sijknesse; but the word of swering, which is after the lawe, ordeynede the sone perfit with outen ende.

7:1This Melchisedech kynge of Salem (which beinge prest of ye most hye god met Abraham as he returned agayne from the slaughter of the kynges and blessed him:
7:2to whom also Abraham gave tythes of all thynges) fyrst is by interpretacion kynge of rightewesnes: after yt he is kynge of Sale yt is to saye kynge of peace
7:3with out father wt out mother with out kynne and hath nether begynnynge of his tyme nether yet ende of his lyfe: but is lykened vnto the sonne of god and cotinueth a preste for ever.
7:4Consyder what a man this was vnto who the patriarke Abraham gave tythes of the spoyles.
7:5And verely those children of levy which receave the office of the prestes have a commaundement to take a cordyng to the lawe tythes of the people that is to saye of their brethren yee though they spronge out of the loynes of Abraham.
7:6But he whose kynred is not counted amonge them receaved tythes of Abraham and blessed him that had the promyses.
7:7And no man denyeth but that which is lesse receaveth blessinge of yt which is greater.
7:8And here men that dye receave tythes. But there he receaveth tythes of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.
7:9And to saye the trueth Levy him silfe also which receaveth tythes payed tythes in Abraham.
7:10For he was yet in the loynes of his father Abraham when Melchisech met him.
7:11Yf now therfore perfeccion came by the presthod of the levites (for vnder that presthod the people recaved the lawe) what neded it furthermore that an other prest shuld ryse after the order of Melchisedech and not after the order of Aaron?
7:12Now no dout yf the presthod be translated then of necessitie must the lawe be translated also.
7:13For he of whom these thynges are spoken pertayneth vnto another trybe of which never man served at the aultre.
7:14For it is evidet that oure lorde spronge of the trybe of Iuda of which trybe spake Moses nothynge concernynge presthod.
7:15And it is yet a more evydent thinge yf after the similitude of Melchisedech ther aryse a nother prest
7:16which is not made after the lawe of the carnall commaundmet: but after the power of the endlesse lyfe
7:17(For he testifieth: Thou arte a prest forever after the order of Melchysedech)
7:18Then the commaundmet that went a fore is disanulled because of hir weaknes and vnproffitablenes.
7:19For the lawe made nothynge parfecte: but was an introduccion of a better hope by which hope we drawe nye vnto god.
7:20And for this cause it is a better hope that it was not promysed with out an othe.
7:21Those prestes were made wt out an oth: but this prest with an oth by him that saide vnto him The lorde sware and will not repent: Thou arte a prest for ever after the order of Melchisedech.
7:22And for that cause was Iesus a stablyssher of a better testament.
7:23And amonge them many were made prestes because they were not suffred to endure by the reason of deeth.
7:24But this man because he endureth ever hath an everlastinge presthod.
7:25Wherfore he is able also ever to save them that come vnto god by him seynge he ever lyveth to make intercession for vs.
7:26Soche an hye prest it became vs to have which is wholy harmlesse vndefyled separat from synners and made hyar then heven.
7:27Which nedeth not dayly (as yonder hie prestes) to offer vp sacrifice fyrst for his awne synnes and then for the peoples synnes. For that did he at once for all when he offered vp him silfe.
7:28For the lawe maketh men prestes which have infirmitie: but the worde of the othe that came fence ye lawe maketh the sonne prest which is parfecte for ever more.

7:1This Melchisedech kynge of Salem (which beynge prest of the most hye God, met Abraham as he returned agayne from the slaughter of the kynges, & blessed him,
7:2vnto whom Abraham also gaue tithes of all the goodes) first is by interpretacion kynge of righteousnes: after that is he kynge of Salem also (that is to saye, kynge of peace)
7:3without father, without mother, without kynne, and hath nether begynnynge of dayes, ner ende of life: but is likened vnto the sonne of God, and contynueth a prest for euer.
7:4But cosider how greate a man this was, to whom the Patriarke Abraham gaue tithes of the spoyles.
7:5And verely the children of Leui, whan they receaue the presthode, haue a commaundement acordynge to the lawe, to take the tithes of the people, that is to saye, of their brethre, though they also came out of the loynes of Abraham.
7:6But he whose kynred is not counted amoge them, receaued tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promes.
7:7Now is it so without all naysayenge, that the lesse receaueth blessynge of ye better.
7:8And here men that dye, receaue tithes. But there he receaueth tithes, of whom it is witnessed that he lyueth.
7:9And to saye the trueth, Leui himselfe also which receaueth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham:
7:10for he was yet in the loynes of his father Abraham, whan Melchisedech met him.
7:11Yf now therfore perfeccion came by the presthode of the Leuites (for vnder the same (presthode) the people receaued the lawe) what neded it then furthurmore, that another prest shulde ryse after the order of Melchisedech, and not after the order of Aar
7:12For yf the presthode be traslated, the of necessite must the lawe be translated also.
7:13For he of whom these thinges are spoken, is of another trybe, of the which neuer man serued at the altare.
7:14For it is euidet, that oure LORDE spronge of the trybe of Iuda, to the which trybe Moses spake nothinge cocernynge presthode,
7:15And it is yet a more euident thinge, yf after the symilitude of Mechisedech there aryse another prest,
7:16which is not made after ye lawe of the carnall commaundement, but after the power of the endlesse life
7:17(For he testifieth: Thou art a prest for euer after the order of Melchisedech)
7:18then the commaundement that wente before, is disanulled, because of his weaknesse, and vnprofitablenes.
7:19For the lawe made nothinge perfecte, but was an introduccion of a better hope, by ye which hope we drawe nye vnto God.
7:20And for this cause is it a better hope, yt it was not promysed without an ooth.
7:21Those prestes were made without an ooth, but this prest with an ooth, by him that sayde vnto him: The LORDE sware, and wyl not repente: Thou art a prest for euer after the order of Melchisedech.
7:22Thus is Iesus become a stablissher of so moch a better Testamete.
7:23And amonge them many were made prestes, because they were not suffred to endure by the reason of death.
7:24But this man, because that he endureth euer, hath an euerlastinge presthode.
7:25Wherfore he is able also euer to saue them, that come vnto God by him: & lyueth euer, to make intercession for vs.
7:26For it became vs to haue soch an hye prest as is holy, innocent, vndefyled, separate from synners, and made hyer then heauen:
7:27which nedeth not daylie ( as yonder hye prestes) to offre vp sacrifice first for his awne synnes, and then for the peoples synnes. For that dyd he once for all, whan he offered vp him selfe.
7:28For the lawe maketh men prestes which haue infirmitie: but the worde of the ooth, that came sence the lawe, maketh the sonne prest, which is perfecte for euermore.
