2 Samuel - Chapter: 6


6:1	Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.
6:2	And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.
6:3	And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.
6:4	And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.
6:5	And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.
6:6	And when they came to Nachon's threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.
6:7	And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
6:8	And David was displeased, because the LORD had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perezuzzah to this day.
6:9	And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me?
6:10	So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite.
6:11	And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months: and the LORD blessed Obededom, and all his household.
6:12	And it was told king David, saying, The LORD hath blessed the house of Obededom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom into the city of David with gladness.
6:13	And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.
6:14	And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.
6:15	So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.
6:16	And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
6:17	And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
6:18	And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.
6:19	And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.
6:20	Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
6:21	And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.
6:22	And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.
6:23	Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.


6:1	ויסף עוד דוד את כל בחור בישׂראל שׁלשׁים אלף׃
6:2	ויקם וילך דוד וכל העם אשׁר אתו מבעלי יהודה להעלות משׁם את ארון האלהים אשׁר נקרא שׁם שׁם יהוה צבאות ישׁב הכרבים עליו׃
6:3	וירכבו את ארון האלהים אל עגלה חדשׁה וישׂאהו מבית אבינדב אשׁר בגבעה ועזא ואחיו בני אבינדב נהגים את העגלה חדשׁה׃
6:4	וישׂאהו מבית אבינדב אשׁר בגבעה עם ארון האלהים ואחיו הלך לפני הארון׃
6:5	ודוד וכל בית ישׂראל משׂחקים לפני יהוה בכל עצי ברושׁים ובכנרות ובנבלים ובתפים ובמנענעים ובצלצלים׃
6:6	ויבאו עד גרן נכון וישׁלח עזא אל ארון האלהים ויאחז בו כי שׁמטו הבקר׃
6:7	ויחר אף יהוה בעזה ויכהו שׁם האלהים על השׁל וימת שׁם עם ארון האלהים׃
6:8	ויחר לדוד על אשׁר פרץ יהוה פרץ בעזה ויקרא למקום ההוא פרץ עזה עד היום הזה׃
6:9	וירא דוד את יהוה ביום ההוא ויאמר איך יבוא אלי ארון יהוה׃
6:10	ולא אבה דוד להסיר אליו את ארון יהוה על עיר דוד ויטהו דוד בית עבד אדום הגתי׃
6:11	וישׁב ארון יהוה בית עבד אדם הגתי שׁלשׁה חדשׁים ויברך יהוה את עבד אדם ואת כל ביתו׃
6:12	ויגד למלך דוד לאמר ברך יהוה את בית עבד אדם ואת כל אשׁר לו בעבור ארון האלהים וילך דוד ויעל את ארון האלהים מבית עבד אדם עיר דוד בשׂמחה׃
6:13	ויהי כי צעדו נשׂאי ארון יהוה שׁשׁה צעדים ויזבח שׁור ומריא׃
6:14	ודוד מכרכר בכל עז לפני יהוה ודוד חגור אפוד בד׃
6:15	ודוד וכל בית ישׂראל מעלים את ארון יהוה בתרועה ובקול שׁופר׃
6:16	והיה ארון יהוה בא עיר דוד ומיכל בת שׁאול נשׁקפה בעד החלון ותרא את המלך דוד מפזז ומכרכר לפני יהוה ותבז לו בלבה׃
6:17	ויבאו את ארון יהוה ויצגו אתו במקומו בתוך האהל אשׁר נטה לו דוד ויעל דוד עלות לפני יהוה ושׁלמים׃
6:18	ויכל דוד מהעלות העולה והשׁלמים ויברך את העם בשׁם יהוה צבאות׃
6:19	ויחלק לכל העם לכל המון ישׂראל למאישׁ ועד אשׁה לאישׁ חלת לחם אחת ואשׁפר אחד ואשׁישׁה אחת וילך כל העם אישׁ לביתו׃
6:20	וישׁב דוד לברך את ביתו ותצא מיכל בת שׁאול לקראת דוד ותאמר מה נכבד היום מלך ישׂראל אשׁר נגלה היום לעיני אמהות עבדיו כהגלות נגלות אחד הרקים׃
6:21	ויאמר דוד אל מיכל לפני יהוה אשׁר בחר בי מאביך ומכל ביתו לצות אתי נגיד על עם יהוה על ישׂראל ושׂחקתי לפני יהוה׃
6:22	ונקלתי עוד מזאת והייתי שׁפל בעיני ועם האמהות אשׁר אמרת עמם אכבדה׃
6:23	ולמיכל בת שׁאול לא היה לה ילד עד יום מותה׃


6:1	And David gathered again every chosen one in Israel, thirty thousand,
6:2	and David riseth and goeth, and all the people who `are' with him, from Baale-Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God, whose name hath been called -- the name of Jehovah of Hosts, inhabiting the cherubs -- upon it.
6:3	And they cause the ark of God to ride on a new cart, and lift it up from the house of Abinadab, which `is' in the height, and Uzzah and Ahio sons of Abinadab are leading the new cart;
6:4	and they lift it up from the house of Abinadab, which `is' in the height, with the ark of God, and Ahio is going before the ark,
6:5	and David and all the house of Israel are playing before Jehovah, with all kinds of `instruments' of fir-wood, even with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cornets, and with cymbals.
6:6	And they come unto the threshing-floor of Nachon, and Uzzah putteth forth `his hand' unto the ark of God, and layeth hold on it, for they released the oxen;
6:7	and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Uzzah, and God smiteth him there for the error, and he dieth there by the ark of God.
6:8	And it is displeasing to David, because that Jehovah hath broken forth a breach upon Uzzah, and `one' calleth that place Perez-Uzzah, unto this day;
6:9	and David feareth Jehovah on that day, and saith, `How doth the ark of Jehovah come in unto me?'
6:10	And David hath not been willing to turn aside unto himself the ark of Jehovah, to the city of David, and David turneth it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite,
6:11	and the ark of Jehovah doth inhabit the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months, and Jehovah blesseth Obed-Edom and all his house.
6:12	And it is declared to king David, saying, `Jehovah hath blessed the house of Obed-Edom, and all that he hath, because of the ark of God;' and David goeth and bringeth up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with joy.
6:13	And it cometh to pass, when those bearing the ark of Jehovah have stepped six steps, that he sacrificeth an ox and a fatling.
6:14	And David is dancing with all strength before Jehovah, and David is girded with a linen ephod,
6:15	and David and all the house of Israel are bringing up the ark of Jehovah with shouting, and with the voice of a trumpet,
6:16	and it hath come to pass, the ark of Jehovah hath come in to the city of David, and Michal daughter of Saul, hath looked through the window, and seeth king David moving and dancing before Jehovah, and despiseth him in her heart.
6:17	And they bring in the ark of Jehovah, and set it up in its place, in the midst of the tent which David hath spread out for it, and David causeth to ascend burnt-offerings before Jehovah, and peace-offerings.
6:18	And David finisheth from causing to ascend the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings, and blesseth the people in the name of Jehovah of Hosts,
6:19	and he apportioneth to all the people, to all the multitude of Israel, from man even unto woman, to each, one cake of bread, and one eshpar, and one ashisha, and all the people go, each to his house.
6:20	And David turneth back to bless his house, and Michal daughter of Saul goeth out to meet David, and saith, `How honourable to-day was the king of Israel, who was uncovered to-day before the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain ones is openly uncovered!'
6:21	And David saith unto Michal, `-- Before Jehovah, who fixed on me above thy father, and above all his house, to appoint me leader over the people of Jehovah, and over Israel, -- yea, I played before Jehovah;
6:22	and I have been more vile than this, and have been low in mine eyes, and with the handmaids whom thou hast spoken of, with them I am honoured.'
6:23	As to Michal daughter of Saul, she had no child till the day of her death.
