| 2:9 | And it came to passe when they were gone ouer, that Elijah said vnto Elisha, Aske what I shall doe for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be vpon me. |
| 2:10 | And hee said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: neuerthelesse, if thou see me, when I am taken from thee, it shall be so vnto thee: but if not, it shall not be so. |
| 2:11 | And it came to passe as they still went on and talked, that beholde, there appeared a charet of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder, and Elijah went vp by a whirlewind into heauen. |
| 2:12 | And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he tooke hold of his owne cloathes, and rent them in two pieces. |
| 2:13 | He tooke vp also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the banke of Iordan. |
| 2:14 | And he tooke the mantle of Eliiah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the Lord God of Elijah? And when hee also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went ouer. |
| 2:15 | And when the sonnes of the Prophets which were to view at Iericho, saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha: And they came to meet him, and bowed themselues to the ground before him. |
| 2:16 | And they said vnto him, Behold now, there bee with thy seruants fiftie strong men, let them goe, we pray thee, and seeke thy master: lest peraduenture the Spirit of the Lord hath taken him vp, and cast him vpon some mountaine, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send. |
| 2:17 | And when they vrged him, till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fiftie men, and they sought three dayes, but found him not. |
| 2:18 | And when they came againe to him (for he taried at Iericho) hee said vnto them, Did I not say vnto you, Goe not? |
| 2:19 | And the men of the city said vnto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is nought, and the ground barren. |
| 2:20 | And hee said, Bring mee a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him. |
| 2:21 | And he went forth vnto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I haue healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death, or barren land. |
| 2:22 | So the waters were healed vnto this day, according to the saying of Elisha, which he spake. |
| 2:23 | And he went vp from thence vnto Bethel: and as hee was going vp by the way, there came foorth little children out of the citie, and mocked him, and said vnto him, Goe vp thou bald head, Goe vp thou bald head. |
| 2:24 | And hee turned backe, and looked on them, and cursed them in the Name of the Lord: and there came foorth two shee Beares out of the wood, and tare fortie and two children of them. |
| 2:25 | And hee went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria. |

| 2:6 | Moreouer Eliiah saide vnto him, Tarie, I pray thee, here: for the Lord hath sent me to Iorden. But he saide, As the Lord liueth, and as thy soule liueth, I will not leaue thee. So they went both together. |
| 2:7 | And fiftie men of the sonnes of the Prophets went and stoode on the other side a farre off, and they two stoode by Iorden. |
| 2:8 | Then Eliiah tooke his cloke, and wrapt it together, and smote the waters, and they were deuided hither and thither, and they twaine went ouer on the dry lande. |
| 2:9 | Nowe when they were passed ouer, Eliiah saide vnto Elisha, Aske what I shall doe for thee before I be taken from thee. And Elisha saide, I pray thee, let thy Spirit be double vpon me. |
| 2:10 | And he saide, Thou hast asked an hard thing: yet if thou see me when I am taken from thee, thou shalt haue it so: and if not, it shall not be. |
| 2:11 | And as they went walking and talking, beholde, there appeared a charet of fire, and horses of fire, and did separate them twaine. So Eliiah went vp by a whirle winde into heauen. |
| 2:12 | And Elisha saw it, and he cryed, My father, my father, the charet of Israel, and the horsemen thereof: and he sawe him no more: and he tooke his owne clothes, and rent them in two pieces. |
| 2:13 | He tooke vp also the cloke of Eliiah that fell from him, and returned, and stoode by the banke of Iorden. |
| 2:14 | After, he tooke the cloke of Eliiah, that fell from him, and smote the waters, and sayde, Where is the Lord God of Eliiah? And so he also, after he had striken the waters, so that they were deuided this way and that way, went ouer, euen Elisha. |
| 2:15 | And when the children of the Prophets, which were at Iericho, saw him on the other side, they sayde, The Spirite of Eliiah doeth rest on Elisha: and they came to meete him, and fell to the grounde before him, |
| 2:16 | And said vnto him, Beholde nowe, there be with thy seruants fiftie strong men: let them go, we pray thee, and seeke thy master, if so be the Spirite of the Lord hath taken him vp, and cast him vpon some mountaine, or into some valley. But he said, Ye shall not sende. |
| 2:17 | Yet they were instant vpon him, til he was ashamed: wherefore he saide, Sende. So they sent fiftie men, which sought three dayes, but founde him not. |
| 2:18 | Therefore they returned to him, (for he taryed at Iericho) and he said vnto them, Did not I say vnto you, Goe not? |
| 2:19 | And the men of the citie saide vnto Elisha, Beholde, we pray thee: the situation of this citie is pleasant, as thou, my lorde, seest, but the water is naught, and the ground baren. |
| 2:20 | Then he saide, Bring me a newe cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him. |
| 2:21 | And he went vnto the spring of the waters, and cast there the salt, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I haue healed this water: death shall no more come thereof, neither barennesse to the ground. |
| 2:22 | So the waters were healed vntill this day, according to the worde of Elisha which hee had spoken. |
| 2:23 | And he went vp from thence vnto Beth-el. And as he was going vp the way, litle children came out of the citie, and mocked him, and saide vnto him, Come vp, thou balde head, come vp, thou balde head. |
| 2:24 | And he turned backe, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And two beares came out of the forest, and tare in pieces two and fourtie children of them. |
| 2:25 | So he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria. |

| 2:5 | And the chyldren of the prophetes that were at Iericho came to Elisa and sayde vnto him: knowest thou not, that the Lord will take a waye thy master from thy head thys daye? He answered: I knowe it also, holde ye your peace. |
| 2:6 | And Elia sayde vnto him: tarye I praye the here, for the Lorde hath sent me to Iordan. He sayde: as surely as the Lorde lyueth, and as thy soule lyueth, I will not leaue the. And so they two went togeather. |

| 2:9 | And it fortuned, that as sone as they were ouer, Elia sayd vnto Elisa: aske what I shall do for the, yer I be taken awaye from the. And Elisa sayde: I praye the let thy sprete be dowble vpon me. |
| 2:10 | And he sayde: thou hast asked an hard thynge. Neuerthelesse, yf thou se me whan I am taken a waye from the thou shalt haue it so: yf thou do not, it shall not be. |
| 2:11 | And it fortuned, that as they went walkyng and talkynge: beholde, there appeared a charet of fyre and horsses of fyre, and parted them both a sondre. And Elia went vp thorowe the whorlewinde into heauen. |
| 2:12 | And Elisa, sawe, & cryed: O my father, O my father, the charet of Israel and the horsemen therof, and he sawe him nomoare: & he toke his awne clothes, & rent them in two peces. |
| 2:13 | He toke vp also the mantell of Elia that fell from him, & went backe agayne & stode by Iordans syde, |
| 2:14 | & toke the mantell of Elia (that fell from him,) and smote the waters and he sayd: where is the Lorde God of Elia, and he him selfe? And when he had smyten the waters, they parted this waye & that waye, & Elisa went ouer. |
| 2:15 | And whan the chyldren of the prophetes which were at Iericho sawe hym from a farre, they sayde: the spryte of Elia doth rest on Elisa, and they came to mete him, and fell to the grounde before him, |
| 2:16 | & sayde vnto him. Se: there be with thy seruauntes fyftie stronge men let them go & seke thy master: happlye the spryte of the Lorde hath taken hym vp, and cast hym vpon some mountayne or in to some valeye. And he sayde. Ye shall sende none. |
| 2:17 | And whan they laye vpon him tyll he was ashamed, he sayde. Send. They sent therfore fyftye men, which sought him thre dayes and thre nyghtes, but founde him not. |
| 2:18 | And whan they came agayne to him, which taryed at Iericho, he sayde vnto them: dyd I not saye vnto you, that ye shulde not go? |
| 2:19 | And the men of the cytie sayde vnto Elisa beholde, Syr, the dwellynge of this cytie is pleasaunt as thou thy selfe seest: but the water is naught & the grounde baren. |
| 2:20 | He sayde. Brynge me a new cruse, and put salt therin. And they brought it to him. |
| 2:21 | And he went vnto the springe of the waters, and cast the salt in thither, & sayde: thus sayth the Lorde. I haue healed this water, ther shall not come henceforthe ether deeth or barennesse. |
| 2:22 | So the waters were healed vnto this daye, accordinge to the sayinge of Eliseus, which he spake. |
| 2:23 | And he went vp from thence vnto Bethel. And as he was goinge vp the waye, there came lytle chyldren out of the cytie, & mocked him, & sayd vnto him. Go vp thou bald heed, go vp thou bald heed. |
| 2:24 | And he turned backe, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lorde. And there came two she Beares out of that woodd & tare .xlii. chyldren of them. |
| 2:25 | And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he turned agayne to Samaria. |
