2 Chronicles - Chapter: 17


17:1	And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
17:2	And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
17:3	And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
17:4	But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
17:5	Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
17:6	And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
17:7	Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
17:8	And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
17:9	And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
17:10	And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
17:11	Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
17:12	And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
17:13	And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
17:14	And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
17:15	And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
17:16	And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
17:17	And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
17:18	And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
17:19	These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.


17:1	וימלך יהושׁפט בנו תחתיו ויתחזק על ישׂראל׃
17:2	ויתן חיל בכל ערי יהודה הבצרות ויתן נציבים בארץ יהודה ובערי אפרים אשׁר לכד אסא אביו׃
17:3	ויהי יהוה עם יהושׁפט כי הלך בדרכי דויד אביו הראשׁנים ולא דרשׁ לבעלים׃
17:4	כי לאלהי אביו דרשׁ ובמצותיו הלך ולא כמעשׂה ישׂראל׃
17:5	ויכן יהוה את הממלכה בידו ויתנו כל יהודה מנחה ליהושׁפט ויהי לו עשׁר וכבוד לרב׃
17:6	ויגבה לבו בדרכי יהוה ועוד הסיר את הבמות ואת האשׁרים מיהודה׃
17:7	ובשׁנת שׁלושׁ למלכו שׁלח לשׂריו לבן חיל ולעבדיה ולזכריה ולנתנאל ולמיכיהו ללמד בערי יהודה׃
17:8	ועמהם הלוים שׁמעיהו ונתניהו וזבדיהו ועשׂהאל ושׁמרימות ויהונתן ואדניהו וטוביהו וטוב אדוניה הלוים ועמהם אלישׁמע ויהורם הכהנים׃
17:9	וילמדו ביהודה ועמהם ספר תורת יהוה ויסבו בכל ערי יהודה וילמדו בעם׃
17:10	ויהי פחד יהוה על כל ממלכות הארצות אשׁר סביבות יהודה ולא נלחמו עם יהושׁפט׃
17:11	ומן פלשׁתים מביאים ליהושׁפט מנחה וכסף משׂא גם הערביאים מביאים לו צאן אילים שׁבעת אלפים ושׁבע מאות ותישׁים שׁבעת אלפים ושׁבע מאות׃
17:12	ויהי יהושׁפט הלך וגדל עד למעלה ויבן ביהודה בירניות וערי מסכנות׃
17:13	ומלאכה רבה היה לו בערי יהודה ואנשׁי מלחמה גבורי חיל בירושׁלם׃
17:14	ואלה פקדתם לבית אבותיהם ליהודה שׂרי אלפים עדנה השׂר ועמו גבורי חיל שׁלשׁ מאות אלף׃
17:15	ועל ידו יהוחנן השׂר ועמו מאתים ושׁמונים אלף׃
17:16	ועל ידו עמסיה בן זכרי המתנדב ליהוה ועמו מאתים אלף גבור חיל׃
17:17	ומן בנימן גבור חיל אלידע ועמו נשׁקי קשׁת ומגן מאתים אלף׃
17:18	ועל ידו יהוזבד ועמו מאה ושׁמונים אלף חלוצי צבא׃
17:19	אלה המשׁרתים את המלך מלבד אשׁר נתן המלך בערי המבצר בכל יהודה׃


17:1	And Jehoshaphat his son reigneth in his stead, and he strengtheneth himself against Israel,
17:2	and putteth a force in all the fenced cities of Judah, and putteth garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had captured.
17:3	And Jehovah is with Jehoshaphat, for he hath walked in the first ways of David his father, and hath not sought to Baalim,
17:4	for to the God of his father he hath sought, and in His commands he hath walked, and not according to the work of Israel.
17:5	And Jehovah doth establish the kingdom in his hand, and all Judah give a present to Jehoshaphat, and he hath riches and honour in abundance,
17:6	and his heart is high in the ways of Jehovah, and again he hath turned aside the high places and the shrines out of Judah.
17:7	And in the third year of his reign he hath sent for his heads, for Ben-Hail, and for Obadiah, and for Zechariah, and for Nethaneel, and for Michaiah, to teach in cities of Judah,
17:8	and with them the Levites, Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijath, and Tob-Adonijah, the Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
17:9	And they teach in Judah, and with them `is' the Book of the Law of Jehovah, and they go round about into all cities of Judah, and teach among the people.
17:10	And here is a fear of Jehovah on all kingdoms of the lands that `are' round about Judah, and they have not fought with Jehoshaphat;
17:11	and of the Philistines they are bringing in to Jehoshaphat a present, and tribute silver; also, the Arabians are bringing to him a flock, rams seven thousand an seven hundred, and he-goats seven thousand and seven hundred.
17:12	And Jehoshaphat is going on and becoming very great, and he buildeth in Judah palaces and cities of store,
17:13	and he hath much work in cities of Judah; and men of war, mighty of valour, `are' in Jerusalem.
17:14	And these `are' their numbers, for the house of their fathers: Of Judah, heads of thousands, Adnah the head, and with him mighty ones of valour, three hundred chiefs.
17:15	And at his hand `is' Jehohanan the head, and with him two hundred and eighty chiefs.
17:16	And at his hand `is' Amasiah son of Zichri, who is willingly offering himself to Jehovah, and with him two hundred chiefs, mighty of valour.
17:17	And of Benjamin: mighty of valour, Eliada, and with him, armed with bow and shield, two hundred chiefs.
17:18	And at his hand `is' Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty chiefs, armed ones of the host.
17:19	These `are' those serving the king, apart from those whom the king put in the cities of fortress, in all Judah.
