>
2:1After these actes, when the displeasure of king Ahasuerus was nowe alayed, he thought vpon Uasthi, & what she had done, & what was decreed against her
2:2Then sayde the kinges seruauntes that ministred vnto hym: Let there be faire young virgins sought for the king
2:3And let the king appoynt officers in all the prouinces of his empire, that they should bring together al the faire young virgins vnto Susan the head citie to the womens buylding, vnder the hande of Hegai the kinges chamberlayne that kept the women, to geue them their apparell
2:4And that the mayden which pleased the king, should be queene in Uasthis steede. And this pleased the king, and he did so
2:5In the citie of Susan there was a certayne Iewe, whose name was Mardocheus, the sonne of Iair, the sonne of Semei, the sonne of Cis, a man of Iemini
2:6Which was caryed away from Hierusalem with the captiuitie, when Iekonia the king of Iuda was led away, whom Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon caryed thence
2:7And he norished Hadassa (that is Esther) his vncles daughter: for he had neither father nor mother, and she was a faire and beautifull mayden, whom Mardocheus (when her father & mother were dead) receaued for his owne daughter
2:8So when the kinges commaundement and commission was published, and many maydens were brought together into the citie of Susan vnder the hand of Hegai, Esther was brought also vnto the kinges house vnder the hande of Hegai the keper of the women
2:9And the mayden pleased hym, and she founde fauour in his sight: and he caused ornamentes to be geuen her speedyly, and such thinges as belonged to her, and appoynted her seuen comely maydens out of the kinges house, & fauoured both her and her gentlewomen singularly in the house of the women
2:10But Esther shewed not her people and her kinred: for Mardocheus had charged her that she shoulde not tell it
2:11And Mardocheus walked euery day before the court of the womens house, that he might knowe howe Esther did, and what shoulde become of her
2:12And when the appoynted time of euery mayden came that she shoulde go in to the king Ahasuerus, after that she had ben twelue monethes according to the mauer of the women (for so were the dayes of their purification accomplissed, sixe monethes with oyle of mirre, and sixe monethes with sweete odoures, and in the purifiyng of the women
2:13And thus went the maydens vnto the king) whatsoeuer she required, that must be geuen her to go with her out of the womens buylding vnto the kinges palace
2:14In the euening she went, and on the morowe she returned into the seconde house of the women abyding vnder the hande of Saasgaz the kinges chamberlayne, which kept the concubines: And she came in vnto the king no more, except it pleased the king to haue her, and that she were called by name
2:15Nowe when the course came of Esther the daughter of Abihail, the vncle of Mardocheus (which had receaued her as his owne daughter) that she shoulde come in vnto the king, she desired nothing but what Hegai the kinges chamberlayne the keper of the women saide: And Esther found fauour in the sight of all them that loked vpon her
2:16And Esther was taken vnto king Ahasuerus into his house royall, in the tenth moneth (which is the moneth Tebeth) in the seuenth yere of his raigne
2:17And the king loued Esther aboue all the women, and she found grace and fauour in his sight more then all the virgins, so that he set the crowne of the kingdome vpon her head, and made her queene in steede of Uasthi
2:18And the king made a great feast vnto all his princes and seruauntes, whiche feast was because of Esther, and caused the prouinces to be in quietnesse, & gaue giftes, as became the royaltie of a king
2:19And when the virgins were gathered together the seconde time, Mardocheus sate in the kinges gate
2:20And as yet had not Esther shewed her kinred & her people, according as Mardocheus had bidden her: for Esther dyd after the worde of Mardocheus, like as if she had ben yet vnder his gouernaunce
2:21At the same time (whyle Mardocheus sate in the kinges gate) two of ye kinges chamberlaynes, Bigthan and Theres, which kept the doore, were wroth, and sought to lay their handes on the king Ahasuerus
2:22Whereof also Mardocheus gat knowledge, and tolde it vnto queene Esther, and Esther certified the king therof in Mardocheus name
2:23And when inquisition was made, it was founde so, and they were both hanged on tree: and it was written in the Chronicles before the king

2:1After these things, when the wrath of King Ahashuerosh was appeased, he remembred Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.
2:2And the Kings seruants that ministred vnto him, sayd, Let them seeke for the King beautifull yong virgins,
2:3And let the King appoynt officers through all the prouinces of his kingdome, and let them gather all the beautiful yong virgins vnto the palace of Shushan, into the house of the women, vnder the hand of Hege the Kings eunuche, keeper of the women, to giue them their things for purification.
2:4And the mayde that shall please the King, let her reigne in the steade of Vashti. And this pleased the King, and he did so.
2:5In the citie of Shushan, there was a certaine Iewe, whose name was Mordecai the sonne of Iair, the sonne of Shimei, the sonne of Kish a man of Iemini,
2:6Which had bene caryed away from Ierusalem with the captiuitie that was caryed away with Ieconiah King of Iudah (whom Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel had caryed away)
2:7And he nourished Hadassah, that is Ester, his vncles daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the mayde was fayre, and beautifull to looke on: and after the death of her father, and her mother, Mordecai tooke her for his own daughter
2:8And when the Kings commandement, and his decree was published, and many maydes were brought together to the palace of Shushan, vnder the hand of Hege, Ester was brought also vnto the Kings house vnder the hande of Hege the keeper of the women.
2:9And the mayde pleased him, and she founde fauour in his sight: therefore he caused her things for purification to be giuen her speedily, and her state, and seuen comely maides to be giuer her out of the Kings house, and he gaue change to her and to her maydes of the best in the house of the women.
2:10But Ester shewed not her people and her kinred: for Mordecai had charged her, that shee should not tell it.
2:11Aud Mordecai walked euery day before the court of the womens house, to knowe if Ester did well, and what should be done with her.
2:12And when the course of euery mayd came, to go in to King Ahashuerosh, after that she had bene twelue moneths according to the maner of the women (for so were the dayes of their purifications accomplished, sixe moneths with oyle of myrrhe, and sixe moneths with sweete odours and in the purifying of the women:
2:13And thus went the maides vnto the King) whatsoeuer she required, was giuen her, to go with her out of the womens house vnto ye kings house.
2:14In the euening she went, and on the morow she returned into the second house of the women vnder the hand of Shaashgaz the Kings eunuche, which kept the concubines: shee came in to the King no more, except shee pleased the King, and that she were called by name.
2:15Now when the course of Ester the daughter of Abihail the vncle of Mordecai (which had taken her as his owne daughter) came, that shee should go in to the King, she desired nothing, but what Hege the Kings eunuche the keeper of the women sayde: and Ester founde fauour in the sight of all them that looked vpon her.
2:16So Ester was taken vnto King Ahashuerosh into his house royall in the tenth moneth, which is the moneth Tebeth, in the seuenth yeere of his reigne.
2:17And the King loued Ester aboue all the women, and shee founde grace and fauour in his sight more then all the virgins: so that he set the crowne of the kingdome vpon her head, and made her Queene instead of Vashti.
2:18Then the King made a great feast vnto all his princes, and his seruants, which was the feast of Ester, and gaue rest vnto the prouinces, and gaue gifts, according to the power of a King.
2:19And whe the virgins were gathered ye second time, then Mordecai sate in the Kings gate.
2:20Ester had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people, as Mordecai had charged her: for Ester did after the worde of Mordecai, as when she was nourished with him.
2:21In those dayes whe Mordecai sate in the Kings gate, two of the Kings eunuches, Bigthan and Teresh, which kept the doore, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the King Ahashuerosh.
2:22And the thing was knowen to Mordecai, and he tolde it vnto Queene Ester, and Ester certified the King thereof in Mordecais name: and when inquisition was made, it was found so: therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the booke of the Chronicles before the King.
2:23n/a

2:1After these actes, when the displeasure of king Ahasuerus was now layed, he thought vpon Uasthi, & what she had done, and what was concluded agaynst her.
2:2Then sayd the kynges seruauntes that ministred vnto him: Let there be fayre young virgins sought for the kyng,
2:3and the kyng appointed certayne men in all the landes of his empyre, whom he charged that they shuld bryng together all the fayre yong virgins vnto Susan the head cite, to the wemens buylding, vnder the hand of Hagei the kynges chamberlayne, that kepte the wemen, to geue them their apparell.
2:4And that the damsell whych pleased the kynge shuld be quene in Uasthis steade. And this pleased the kyng, and he dyd so.
2:5In the cyte of Susan there was a Iewe, whose name was Mardocheus, the sonne of Iair, the sonne of Semei, the sonne of Cis a man of Iemini,
2:6which was caryed awaye from Ierusalem, whan Iekonia the kyng of Iuda was led awaye, (whom Nabuchodonozor the kyng of Babilon caryed thence)
2:7& he norished Hadassa (that is Esther) his vncles daughter: for she had nether father nor mother, and she was a fayre & beutyfull damsell: whom Mardocheus (when her father & mother was deed) receaued for his awne daughter.
2:8So it fortuned that when the kynges commaundement & commission was published, and many damosels were brought together in the cite of Susan vnder the hande of Hagei. Esther was brought also vnto the kynges house vnder the hand of Hagei the keper of the wemen,
2:9& the damsell pleased him, and she founde fauoure in his syght. And he caused ornamentes to be geuen her & soch thynges as belonged to her, and appoynted her seuen comlye damsels out of the kynges house, & fauoured both her and her gentyll wemen singularly in the house of the wemen.
2:10But Esther shewed not her people & her kynred: for Mardocheus had charged her, that she shuld not tell it.
2:11And Mardocheus walked euery daye before the court of the wemens house, that he myght knowe howe Esther dyd, and what shulde become of her.
2:12And when the appoynted tyme of euery damsell came, that she shuld go into the kyng Ahasuerus, after that she had bene twelue monethes in the deckynge of the wemen (for their deckynge must haue so moch tyme, namely syxe monethes with Balme & Myrre, and syxe monethes with good spices, so were the wemen beutyfyed)
2:13then went there one damosell vnto the kyng, and whatsoeuer she requyred that must be geuen her to go wyth her out of the wemens buylding vnto the kynges palace.
2:14In the euenyng she went, and in the morow agayne into the seconde house of the wemen abyding vnder the hand of Saasgas the kynges chamberlayne, whych kept the concubines. And she came in vnto the kyng nomore, excepte it pleased the kyng to haue her, and that he called her by name.
2:15Now when the tyme came of Esther the daughter of Abihan the vncle of Mardocheus (whych had receaued her as hys awne daughter) that she shuld come into the kyng, she desyred nothyng, but what Hagei the kynges chamberlayne the keper of the wemen, sayde. And Esther found fauoure in the syght of all them that loked vpon her.
2:16And Esther was taken vnto kyng Ahasuerus into his house royall, in the tenth moneth which is the moneth Tebeth, in the seuenth yeare of his raygne.
2:17And the kyng loued Esther aboue all the wemen, & she found grace and fauoure in hys syght before all the virgins: so that he set the crowne of the kyngdome vpon hir head, and made her quene in steade of Uasthi.
2:18And the kyng made a great feast vnto all his princes and seruauntes (which feast was because of Esther) & caused the landes to be in quyernes, & gaue giftes, as became the royaltye of a king.
2:19And when the virgins were gathered together the seconde tyme, Mardocheus sat in the kynges gate.
2:20And as yet had not Esther shewed her kynred and her people, accordinge as Mardocheus had bydden her: for Esther dyd after the worde of Mardocheus, lyke as yf she had bene yet vnder hys gouernaunce.
2:21At the same tyme, whyle Mardocheus sat in the kynges gate, two of the kynges chamberlaynes Bigthan and Theres which kept the dore, were wroth, & sought to laye their handes on the kyng Ahasuerus:
2:22wherof also Mardocheus gat knowledge, and tolde it vnto quene Esther, & Esther certifyed the kyng therof in Mardocheus name.
2:23And when inquisicion was made, it was founde so. And they were both hanged on tre: and it was written in the Chronycles before the kynge.
