>
18:1Forsothe Baldach Suythes answeride, and seide,
18:2`Til to what ende schalt thou booste with wordis? Vndurstonde thou first, and so speke we.
18:3Whi ben we arettid as beestis, and han we be foule bifor thee?
18:4What leesist thou thi soule in thi woodnes? Whether the erthe schal be forsakun `for thee, and hard stoonys schulen be borun ouer fro her place?
18:5Whethir the liyt of a wickid man schal not be quenchid; and the flawme of his fier schal not schyne?
18:6Liyt schal wexe derke in his tabernacle; and the lanterne, which is on hym, schal be quenchid.
18:7The steppis of his vertu schulen be maad streit; and his counsel schal caste hym doun.
18:8For he hath sent hise feet in to a net; and he goith in the meschis therof.
18:9His foot schal be holdun with a snare; and thirst schal brenne out ayens hym.
18:10The foot trappe of hym is hid in the erthe, and his snare on the path.
18:11Dredis schulen make hym aferd on ech side, and schulen biwlappe hise feet.
18:12His strengthe be maad feble bi hungur; and pouert asaile hise ribbis.
18:13Deuoure it the fairnesse of his skyn; the firste gendrid deth waste hise armes.
18:14His trist be takun awei fro his tabernacle; and perischyng, as a kyng, aboue trede on hym.
18:15The felowis of hym that is not, dwelle in his tabernacle; brymston be spreynt in his tabernacle.
18:16The rootis of hym be maad drie bynethe; sotheli his ripe corn be al to-brokun aboue.
18:17His mynde perische fro the erthe; and his name be not maad solempne in stretis.
18:18He schal put hym out fro `liyt in to derknessis; and he schal bere hym ouer fro the world.
18:19Nethir his seed nether kynrede schal be in his puple, nether ony relifs in hise cuntreis.
18:20The laste men schulen wondre in hise daies; and hidousnesse schal asaile the firste men.
18:21Therfor these ben the tabernaclis of a wickid man; and this is the place of hym, that knowith not God.

18:1Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
18:2When will yee make an ende of your words? cause vs to vnderstande, and then wee will speake.
18:3Wherefore are wee counted as beastes, and are vile in your sight?
18:4Thou art as one that teareth his soule in his anger. Shall the earth bee forsaken for thy sake? or the rocke remoued out of his place?
18:5Yea, the light of the wicked shalbe quenched, and the sparke of his fire shall not shine.
18:6The light shalbe darke in his dwelling, and his candle shalbe put out with him.
18:7The steps of his strength shalbe restrained, and his owne counsell shall cast him downe.
18:8For hee is taken in the net by his feete, and he walketh vpon the snares.
18:9The grenne shall take him by the heele, and the theefe shall come vpon him.
18:10A snare is layed for him in the ground, and a trappe for him in the way.
18:11Fearefulnesse shall make him afrayde on euery side, and shall driue him to his feete.
18:12His strength shalbe famine: and destruction shalbe readie at his side.
18:13It shall deuoure the inner partes of his skinne, and the first borne of death shall deuoure his strength.
18:14His hope shalbe rooted out of his dwelling, and shall cause him to go to the King of feare.
18:15Feare shall dwell in his house (because it is not his) and brimstone shalbe scattered vpon his habitation.
18:16His rootes shalbe dryed vp beneath, and aboue shall his branche be cut downe.
18:17His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall haue no name in the streete.
18:18They shall driue him out of the light vnto darkenesse, and chase him out of the world.
18:19Hee shall neither haue sonne nor nephewe among his people, nor any posteritie in his dwellings.
18:20The posteritie shalbe astonied at his day, and feare shall come vpon the ancient.
18:21Surely such are the habitations of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
