Psalms - Chapter: 109

>
109:1[To the chiefe Musician, A Psalme of Dauid.] Hold not thy peace, O God of my praise.
109:2For the mouth of the wicked, and the mouth of the deceitfull are opened against mee: they haue spoken against me with a lying tongue.
109:3They compassed mee about also with wordes of hatred: and fought against me without a cause.
109:4For my loue, they are my aduersaries: but I giue my selfe vnto prayer.
109:5And they haue rewarded me euill for good: and hatred for my loue.
109:6Set thou a wicked man ouer him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.
109:7When he shall be iudged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sinne.
109:8Let his dayes be few: and let another take his office.
109:9Let his children bee fatherlesse: and his wife a widow.
109:10Let his children bee continually vagabonds, & begge: let them seeke their bread also out of their desolate places.
109:11Let the extortioner catch all that he hath: and let the strangers spoile his labour.
109:12Let there be none to extend mercy vnto him: neither let there be any to fauour his fatherlesse children.
109:13Let his posteritie be cut off: and in the generation folowing let their name be blotted out.
109:14Let the iniquitie of his fathers be remembred with the Lord: and let not the sinne of his mother be blotted out.
109:15Let them be before the Lord continually: that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth.
109:16Because that he remembred not to shew mercy, but persecuted the poore and needy man: that he might euen slay the broken in heart.
109:17As he loued cursing, so let it come vnto him: as hee delighted not in blessing, so let it be farre from him.
109:18As he clothed himselfe with cursing like as with his garment: so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oyle into his bones.
109:19Let it be vnto him as the garment which couereth him: and for a girdle wherewith he is girded continually.
109:20Let this be the reward of mine aduersaries from the Lord: and of them that speake euill against my soule.
109:21But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for thy Names sake: because thy mercie is good: deliuer thou me.
109:22For I am poore and needie: and my heart is wounded within me.
109:23I am gone like the shadow, when it declineth: I am tossed vp and downe as the locust.
109:24My knees are weake through fasting: and my flesh faileth of fatnesse.
109:25I became also a reproch vnto them: when they looked vpon me, they shaked their heads.
109:26Helpe me, O Lord my God: O saue me according to thy mercie.
109:27That they may know, that this is thy hand: that thou, Lord, hast done it.
109:28Let them curse, but blesse thou: when they arise, let them be ashamed, but let thy seruant reioyce.
109:29Let mine aduersaries be clothed with shame: and let them couer them selues with their owne confusion, as with a mantle.
109:30I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth: yea I will praise him among the multitude.
109:31For he shal stand at the right hand of the poore: to saue him from those that condemne his soule.

109:1Holde not thy tongue: O thou the Lorde of my prayse
109:2For the mouth of the vngodly and the mouth of the deceiptfull is opened vpon me: they haue spoken against me with a false tongue
109:3And they haue compassed me about with hatefull wordes: and fought against me without a cause
109:4For the loue that I bare vnto them, they are become mine aduersaries: but I geue my selfe vnto prayer
109:5Thus haue they rewarded me euyll for good: and hatred for my good wyll
109:6Set thou an vngodly man to be ruler ouer him: and let Satan stande at his right hande
109:7When sentence is geuen vpon hym, let him be condemned: and let his prayer be turned into sinne
109:8Let his dayes be fewe: and let another take his office
109:9Let his chyldren be fatherlesse: and his wyfe a wydowe
109:10Let his children be vagaboundes and go a begging: and let them seeke foode out of their barren groundes
109:11Let the extortioner bryng into his snare all that he hath: and let straungers spoyle his labour
109:12Let there be no man to shewe hym any gentlenes: nor to haue compassion vpon his fatherlesse children
109:13Let his posteritie come to destruction: and in the next generation let his name be cleane put out
109:14Let the wyckednes of his fathers be had in remembraunce in the sight of God: and let not the sinne of his mother be wyped away
109:15Let them be alway before God: that he may roote out the memorial of them from the earth
109:16Because that he remembred not to do good: but he persecuted the afflicted and poore man, and hym whose heart was broken with sorow, that he might take his life from hym
109:17His delight was in cursing, and it shal happen vnto him: he loued not blessing, therfore it hath ben farre from him
109:18He clothed hym selfe with cursing, as with his garment: and it hath entred into his bowels like water, and like oyle into his bones
109:19Let it be vnto hym as the garment that he is wrapt in: and as the gyrdle that he is alway gyrded withall
109:20Let this rewarde be from God vnto myne aduersaries: and vnto those that speake euill against my soule
109:21But thou O God my Lorde, do vnto me according vnto thy name: for sweete is thy mercy
109:22Deliuer me, for truely I am afflicted: and I am poore, and my heart is wounded within me
109:23I passe away like a vading shadowe: and I am dryuen from place to place lyke the grashopper
109:24My knees are weake through fasting: my fleshe is dryed vp for want of fatnesse
109:25I am become also a reproche vnto them: they gase vpon me and they shake their head
109:26Helpe me O my Lorde: oh saue me according to thy mercy
109:27And let the know how that this is thy hande: & that thou O God hast done it
109:28They will curse, but thou wylt blesse: they wyl rise vp against me but let them be confounded, and thy seruaunt wyll reioyce
109:29Let mine aduersaries be clothed with shame: & let them couer the selues with their owne cofusion, as with a garment
109:30As for me I will greatly prayse God with my mouth: and I wyll prayse hym among the multitude
109:31For he wyll stande at the right hande of the poore: to saue him from the iudges of his soule

109:1To him that excelleth. A Psalme of David. Holde not thy tongue, O God of my praise.
109:2For the mouth of the wicked, and the mouth full of deceite are opened vpon me: they haue spoken to me with a lying tongue.
109:3They compassed me about also with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.
109:4For my friendship they were mine aduersaries, but I gaue my selfe to praier.
109:5And they haue rewarded me euil for good, and hatred for my friendship.
109:6Set thou the wicked ouer him, and let the aduersarie stand at his right hand.
109:7Whe he shalbe iudged, let him be condemned, and let his praier be turned into sinne.
109:8Let his daies be fewe, and let another take his charge.
109:9Let his children be fatherlesse, and his wife a widowe.
109:10Let his children be vagabonds and beg and seeke bread, comming out of their places destroyed.
109:11Let the extortioner catch al that he hath, and let the strangers spoile his labour.
109:12Let there be none to extend mercie vnto him: neither let there be any to shewe mercie vpon his fatherlesse children.
109:13Let his posteritie be destroied, and in the generation following let their name be put out.
109:14Let the iniquitie of his fathers bee had in remembrance with the Lord: and let not the sinne of his mother be done away.
109:15But let them alway be before the Lord, that he may cut off their memorial from ye earth.
109:16Because he remembred not to shew mercie, but persecuted the afflicted and poore man, and the sorowfull hearted to slay him.
109:17As he loued cursing, so shall it come vnto him, and as he loued not blessing, so shall it be farre from him.
109:18As he clothed himselfe with cursing like a rayment, so shall it come into his bowels like water, and like oyle into his bones.
109:19Let it be vnto him as a garment to couer him, and for a girdle, wherewith he shalbe alway girded.
109:20Let this be the rewarde of mine aduersarie from the Lord, and of them, that speake euill against my soule.
109:21But thou, O Lord my God, deale with me according vnto thy Name: deliuer me, (for thy mercie is good)
109:22Because I am poore and needie, and mine heart is wounded within me.
109:23I depart like the shadowe that declineth, and am shaken off as the grashopper.
109:24My knees are weake through fasting, and my flesh hath lost all fatnes.
109:25I became also a rebuke vnto them: they that looked vpon me, shaked their heads.
109:26Helpe me, O Lord my God: saue me according to thy mercie.
109:27And they shall know, that this is thine hand, and that thou, Lord, hast done it.
109:28Though they curse, yet thou wilt blesse: they shall arise and be confounded, but thy seruant shall reioyce.
109:29Let mine aduersaries be clothed with shame, and let them couer themselues with their confusion, as with a cloke.
109:30I will giue thankes vnto the Lord greatly with my mouth and praise him among ye multitude.
109:31For he will stand at the right hand of the poore, to saue him from them that woulde condemne his soule.
