Proverbs - Chapter: 6


6:1	My sonne, if thou bee surety for thy friend, it thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
6:2	Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the wordes of thy mouth.
6:3	Doe this now, my sonne, and deliuer thy selfe, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend: goe, humble thy selfe, and make sure thy friend.
6:4	Giue not sleepe to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
6:5	Deliuer thy selfe as a Roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
6:6	Goe to the Ant, thou sluggard, consider her wayes, and be wise.
6:7	Which hauing no guide, ouerseer, or ruler,
6:8	Prouideth her meat in the Summer, and gathereth her food in the haruest.
6:9	How long wilt thou sleepe, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleepe?
6:10	Yet a little sleepe, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleepe.
6:11	So shall thy pouertie come as one that trauaileth, and thy want as an armed man.
6:12	A naughtie person, a wicked man walketh with a froward mouth.
6:13	He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feete, hee teacheth with his fingers.
6:14	Frowardnesse is in his heart, he deuiseth mischiefe continually, he soweth discord.
6:15	Therefore shall his calamitie come suddenly; suddenly shall hee be broken without remedie.
6:16	These sixe things doeth the Lord hate; yea seuen are an abomination vnto him:
6:17	A proude looke, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood:
6:18	An heart that deuiseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischiefe:
6:19	A false witnesse that speaketh lies; and him that soweth discord among brethren.
6:20	My sonne, keepe thy fathers commandement, and forsake not the law of thy mother.
6:21	Binde them continually vpon thine heart, and tie them about thy necke.
6:22	When thou goest, it shall leade thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keepe thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talke with thee.
6:23	For the Commandement is a lampe, and the Lawe is light: and reproofes of instruction are the way of life:
6:24	To keepe thee from the euill woman, from the flatterie of the tongue of a strange woman.
6:25	Lust not after her beautie in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
6:26	For by meanes of a whorish woman, a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteresse will hunt for the precious life.
6:27	Can a man take fire in his bosome, and his clothes not be burnt?
6:28	Can one goe vpon hote coales, and his feete not be burnt?
6:29	So he that goeth in to his neighbours wife; whosoeuer toucheth her, shall not be innocent.
6:30	Men doe not despise a thiefe, if he steale to satisfie his soule, when hee is hungry:
6:31	But if he be found, he shall restore seuenfold, he shall giue all the substance of his house.
6:32	But who so committeth adultery with a woman, lacketh vnderstanding: hee that doeth it, destroyeth his owne soule.
6:33	A wound and dishonour shall he get, and his reproch shall not be wiped away.
6:34	For iealousie is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
6:35	He will not regard any ransome; neither will hee rest content, though thou giuest many giftes.

6:3	Doe this nowe, my sonne, and deliuer thy selfe: seeing thou art come into the hande of thy neighbour, goe, and humble thy selfe, and sollicite thy friends.
6:4	Giue no sleepe to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.
6:5	Deliuer thy selfe as a doe from the hande of the hunter, and as a birde from the hande of the fouler.
6:6	Goe to the pismire, O sluggarde: beholde her waies, and be wise.
6:7	For shee hauing no guide, gouernour, nor ruler,
6:8	Prepareth her meat in the sommer, and gathereth her foode in haruest.
6:9	Howe long wilt thou sleepe, O sluggarde? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleepe?
6:10	Yet a litle sleepe, a litle slumber, a litle folding of the hands to sleepe.
6:11	Therefore thy pouertie commeth as one that trauaileth by the way, and thy necessitie like an armed man.
6:12	The vnthriftie man and the wicked man walketh with a froward mouth.
6:13	He maketh a signe with his eyes: he signifieth with his feete: he instructeth with his fingers.
6:14	Lewde things are in his heart: he imagineth euill at all times, and raiseth vp contentions.
6:15	Therefore shall his destruction come speedily: hee shall be destroyed suddenly without recouerie.
6:16	These sixe things doeth the Lord hate: yea, his soule abhorreth seuen:
6:17	The hautie eyes, a lying tongue, and the hands that shed innocent blood,
6:18	An heart that imagineth wicked enterprises, feete that be swift in running to mischiefe,
6:19	A false witnesse that speaketh lyes, and him that rayseth vp contentions among brethren.
6:20	My sonne, keepe thy fathers commandement, and forsake not thy mothers instruction.
6:21	Binde them alway vpon thine heart, and tye them about thy necke.
6:22	It shall leade thee, when thou walkest: it shall watch for thee, when thou sleepest, and when thou wakest, it shall talke with thee.
6:23	For the commandement is a lanterne, and instruction a light: and corrections for instruction are the way of life,
6:24	To keepe thee from the wicked woman, and from ye flatterie of ye tongue of a strange woman.
6:25	Desire not her beautie in thine heart, neither let her take thee with her eye lids.
6:26	For because of the whorish woman a man is brought to a morsell of bread, and a woman wil hunt for the precious life of a man.

6:33	He shall finde a wounde and dishonour, and his reproch shall neuer be put away.
6:34	For ielousie is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
6:35	He cannot beare the sight of any raunsome: neither will he consent, though thou augment the giftes.


6:1	My sonne yf thou be suertye for thy neyghboure, and hast fastened thyne hand for another man,
6:2	thou art bounde wt thyne awne wordes, and taken with thine awne speache.
6:3	Therfore, my sonne, do thys & thou shalt be discharged: when thou art come into thy neighbours daunger. Goo thy wayes then soone, humble thy selfe, and with thy frendes intreate thy creditour:
6:4	let not thyne eyes slepe, ner thyne eye lyddes slomber.
6:5	Saue thy selfe as a doo from the hande of the huntre, & as a byrde from the hande of the fouler.
6:6	Go to the Emmet (thou slougard) consydre herwayes, & lerne to be wyse.
6:7	She hath no guyde, no ouersear nor ruler:
6:8	yet in the Sommer she prouideth her meate, and gathereth her fode to gether in the haruest.
6:9	Howe longe wylt thou slepe, thou slougysh man? When wylt thou aryse out of thy slepe?
6:10	Yee slepe on styll a lytle, slomber a lytle, foulde thyne handes together yet a lytle, that thou mayest slepe:
6:11	so shall pouertye come vnto the as on that trauayleth by the waye, & necessytelke a weapened man.
6:12	An vngodly person, a wycked man goeth with a frowarde mouth
6:13	he wyncketh with his eyes, he tokeneth with hys fete, he poynteth with hys fyngers,
6:14	he is euer ymagenynge myschefe, and frowardnesse in hys herte, & causeth discorde.
6:15	Therfore shall hys destruccyon come hastly vpon him, sodenly shall he be all to broken, and not be healed.
6:16	These syxe thynges doth the Lord hate, and the seuenth he vtterly abhorreth:
6:17	A proude looke a lyinge tonge, handes that shed innocent bloude,
6:18	an herte that goeth aboute wyth wycked ymaginacyons fete that be swyfte in rennynge to do myschefe,
6:19	a false wytnesse that bringeth vp lyes, and soche one as soweth discorde amonge brethren.
6:20	My sonne, kepe thy fathers commaundement, and forsake not the lawe of thy mother.
6:21	Put them vp together in thyne herte, and bynde them aboute thy neck.
6:22	That they may leade the where thou goest, preserue the when thou art a slepe, and that when thou awakest, thou mayest talke of them.
6:23	For the commaundement is a lanterne, and the lawe a lyght: yee chastenyng and nourtoure is the waye of lyfe
6:24	that they may kepe the from the euell woman, and from the flatteryng tonge of the harlote:
6:25	that thou lust not after her beauty in thyne herte, and lest thou be taken with her fayre lookes.
6:26	An harlot wyll make a man to begge his bread, and a woman wyll hunt for the precyous lyfe.
6:27	Maye a man take fyre in hys bosome and hys clothes not be brent?
6:28	Or can one go vpon hote coales, and hys fete not be hurte?
6:29	Euen so, whosoeuer goeth into his neyghbours wyfe, and toucheth her, cannot be vngylty.
6:30	Men do not vtterly despyse a thefe that stealeth to satisfye hys soule, when he is hungry:
6:31	but yf he maye be gotten, he restoreth agayne seuen tymes as moche, or els he maketh recompense with all the good of hys house.
6:32	But whoso committeth aduoutry with a woman, he is a foole and bryngeth his lyfe to destruction.
6:33	He getteth hym selfe also shame and dishonour, soche as shall neuer be put out.
6:34	For the gelousy and wrath of the man wyll not be intreated,
6:35	no though thou woldest offre him great gyftes to make amendes, he will not receaue them.
