Proverbs - Chapter: 22

>
22:1A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.
22:2The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
22:3A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
22:4By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.
22:5Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
22:6Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
22:7The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
22:8He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
22:9He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
22:10Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
22:11He that loveth pureness of heart, for the grace of his lips the king shall be his friend.
22:12The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
22:13The slothful man saith, There is a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
22:14The mouth of strange women is a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
22:15Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
22:16He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want.
22:17Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
22:18For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
22:19That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
22:20Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
22:21That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
22:22Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
22:23For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
22:24Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
22:25Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
22:26Be not thou one of them that strike hands, or of them that are sureties for debts.
22:27If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
22:28Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
22:29Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.

22:1A good name is to be chosen aboue great riches, and louing fauour is aboue siluer and aboue golde.
22:2The rich and poore meete together: the Lord is the maker of them all.
22:3A prudent man seeth the plague, and hideth himselfe: but the foolish goe on still, and are punished.
22:4The rewarde of humilitie, and the feare of God is riches, and glory, and life.
22:5Thornes and snares are in the way of the frowarde: but he that regardeth his soule, will depart farre from them.
22:6Teache a childe in the trade of his way, and when he is olde, he shall not depart from it.
22:7The rich ruleth the poore, and the borower is seruant to the man that lendeth.
22:8He that soweth iniquitie, shall reape affliction, and the rodde of his anger shall faile.
22:9He that hath a good eye, he shalbe blessed: for he giueth of his bread vnto the poore.
22:10Cast out the scorner, and strife shall go out: so contention and reproche shall cease.
22:11Hee that loueth purenesse of heart for the grace of his lippes, the King shalbe his friend.
22:12The eyes of the Lord preserue knowledge: but hee ouerthroweth the wordes of the transgressour.
22:13The slouthfull man saith, A lyon is without, I shall be slaine in the streete.
22:14The mouth of strage women is as a deepe pit: he with whom the Lord is angry, shall fall therein.
22:15Foolishnesse is bounde in the heart of a childe: but the rodde of correction shall driue it away from him.
22:16Hee that oppresseth the poore to increase him selfe, and giueth vnto the riche, shall surely come to pouertie.
22:17Incline thine eare, and heare the wordes of the wise, and apply thine heart vnto my knowledge.
22:18For it shalbe pleasant, if thou keepe them in thy bellie, and if they be directed together in thy lippes.
22:19That thy confidence may be in the Lord, I haue shewed thee this day: thou therefore take heede.
22:20Haue not I written vnto thee three times in counsels and knowledge,
22:21That I might shewe thee the assurance of the wordes of trueth to answere the wordes of trueth to them that sende to thee?
22:22Robbe not the poore, because hee is poore, neither oppresse the afflicted in iudgement.
22:23For the Lord will defende their cause, and spoyle the soule of those that spoyle them.
22:24Make no friendship with an angrie man, neither goe with the furious man,
22:25Least thou learne his wayes, and receiue destruction to thy soule.
22:26Be not thou of them that touch the hand, nor among them that are suretie for debts.
22:27If thou hast nothing to paye, why causest thou that he should take thy bed from vnder thee?
22:28Thou shalt not remooue the ancient bounds which thy fathers haue made.
22:29Thou seest that a diligent man in his businesse standeth before Kings, and standeth not before the base sort.

22:1A Good name is more worth then greate rychesse, and louinge fauoure is better then siluer and golde.
22:2The ryche and poore are together: the Lorde is the maker of them all.
22:3A wyse man seeth the plage, and hydeth hym selfe: but the folysh go on styll and are punysshed.
22:4The ende of lowlynes and the feare of God is ryches, honoure, prosperite, and health.
22:5Thornes and snares are in the waye of the frowarde: but he that doeth kepe hys soule, wyll fle from soche.
22:6Teache a chylde in hys youth what waye he shulde go: for he shall not leaue it, when he is olde.
22:7The ryche ruleth the poore: & the borower is seruaunt to the lender.
22:8He that soweth wyckednesse shall reape sorowe: and the rodde of hys crueltye shall peryshe.
22:9He that hath a louynge eye shalbe blessed: for he geueth of his breed vnto the poore.
22:10Cast out the scornefull man, and so shall stryfe go out wt hym: yee, variaunce & sclaunder shall cease.
22:11Whoso delyteth to be of a cleane herte and of gracyous lyppes, the kynge shall be his frende.
22:12The eyes of the Lorde preserue knowledge, but as for the wordes of the despytefull, he bringeth them to naught.
22:13The slouthfull body sayeth: there is a lyon without, I myght be slayn in the strete.
22:14The mouth of an harlot is a depe pyt, wherin he falleth that the Lorde is angrie wyth all.
22:15Folyshnes stycketh in the herte of the lad, & the rodd of correccion shall dryue it awaye.
22:16Who so doth a poore man wronge to increase his awne riches, & geueth vnto the riche to please him, at the last commeth to pouerte him selfe.
22:17My sonne, bowe downe thyne eare, and herken vnto the wordes of wysedome, applye thy mynde vnto my doctryne:
22:18for thou shalt be excellent yf thou kepe it in thine herte, & practise it in thy mouth:
22:19that thou mayest put thy trust in the Lorde. I haue shewed the this daye the thynge the thou knowest.
22:20Haue not I warned the very oft with councel & learnyng?
22:21that I might shew the the truth, and that thou with the verite myghtest answere them that sende vnto the?
22:22Se that thou robbe not the poore, because he is weake, & oppresse not the simple in iudgment:
22:23for the Lord him selfe will defende their cause, & do violence vnto them that haue vsed violence.
22:24Make no frendshype wt an angrye wilfull man, & kepe no company wt the furious:
22:25lest thou learne his wayes, & receaue hurte in thy soule.
22:26Be not thou one of them that bynde theyr hande vpon promyse, & are suertie for wayghty causes:

22:28Thou shalt not remoue the lande marcke, which thy fore elders haue sett.
22:29Seest thou not, that they which be diligent in theyr busynes, stande before kynges and not amonge the symple people?
