Proverbs - Chapter: 24

>
24:1Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
24:2For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
24:3Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:
24:4And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
24:5A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
24:6For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
24:7Wisdom is too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
24:8He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
24:9The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
24:10If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
24:11If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
24:12If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
24:13My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:
24:14So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
24:15Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
24:16For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
24:17Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
24:18Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
24:19Fret not thyself because of evil men, neither be thou envious at the wicked;
24:20For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
24:21My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
24:22For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
24:23These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
24:24He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
24:25But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
24:26Every man shall kiss his lips that giveth a right answer.
24:27Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.
24:28Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.
24:29Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
24:30I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
24:31And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
24:32Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
24:33Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
24:34So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

24:1Be not thou enuious against euill men, neither desire to be with them.
24:2For their heart imagineth destruction, and their lippes speake mischiefe.
24:3Through wisdome is an house builded, and with vnderstanding it is established.
24:4And by knowledge shall the chambers bee filled with all precious, and pleasant riches.
24:5A wise man is strong: for a man of vnderstanding encreaseth his strength.
24:6For with counsel thou shalt enterprise thy warre, and in the multitude of them that can giue counsell, is health.
24:7Wisdome is hie to a foole: therefore he can not open his mouth in the gate.
24:8Hee that imagineth to doe euill, men shall call him an autour of wickednes.
24:9The wicked thought of a foole is sinne, and the scorner is an abomination vnto men.
24:10If thou bee faint in the day of aduersitie, thy strength is small.
24:11Deliuer them that are drawen to death: wilt thou not preserue them that are led to be slaine?
24:12If thou say, Beholde, we knew not of it: he that pondereth the heartes, doeth not hee vnderstand it? and hee that keepeth thy soule, knoweth he it not? will not he also recompense euery man according to his workes?
24:13My sonne, eate hony, for it is good, and the hony combe, for it is sweete vnto thy mouth.
24:14So shall the knowledge of wisdome be vnto thy soule, if thou finde it, and there shall be an ende, and thine hope shall not be cut off.
24:15Laye no waite, O wicked man, against the house of the righteous, and spoyle not his resting place.
24:16For a iust man falleth seuen times, and riseth againe: but the wicked fall into mischiefe.
24:17Bee thou not glad when thine enemie falleth, and let not thine heart reioyce when hee stumbleth,
24:18Least the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turne his wrath from him.
24:19Fret not thy selfe because of the malicious, neither be enuious at the wicked.
24:20For there shall bee none ende of plagues to the euill man: the light of the wicked shall bee put out.
24:21My sonne feare the Lord, and the King, and meddle not with them that are sedicious.
24:22For their destruction shall rise suddenly, and who knoweth the ruine of them both?
24:23ALSO THESE THINGS PERTEINE TO THE WISE, It is not good to haue respect of any person in iudgement.
24:24He that saith to the wicked, Thou art righteous, him shall the people curse, and the multitude shall abhorre him.
24:25But to them that rebuke him, shall be pleasure, and vpon them shall come the blessing of goodnesse.
24:26They shall kisse the lippes of him that answereth vpright wordes.
24:27Prepare thy worke without, and make readie thy thinges in the fielde, and after, builde thine house.
24:28Be not a witnes against thy neighbour without cause: for wilt thou deceiue with thy lippes?
24:29Say not, I wil doe to him, as he hath done to mee, I will recompence euery man according to his worke.
24:30I passed by the fielde of the slouthfull, and by the vineyarde of the man destitute of vnderstanding.
24:31And lo, it was al growen ouer with thornes, and nettles had couered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken downe.
24:32Then I behelde, and I considered it well: I looked vpon it, and receiued instruction.
24:33Yet a litle sleepe, a litle slumber, a litle folding of the handes to sleepe.
24:34So thy pouertie commeth as one that traueileth by the way, and thy necessitie like an armed man.

24:1Be not thou gelous ouer wycked men, and desyre not to be amonge them.
24:2For ther herte ymagyneth to do hurte, and theyr lyppes talke of myschefe.
24:3Thorow wysdome is an house buyled, and wyth vnderstandynge is it sett vp.
24:4Thorow discrecion shalt the chambers be fylled with all costly and pleasaunt ryches.
24:5A wyse man is euer stronge, yee, a man of vnderstanding encreaseth of strength.
24:6For with discrecyon must warres be taken in hande, & where as are many that can geue councell, there is the victory.
24:7Wysdom is to hye a thinge for a fole, for he darre not open his mouth in the gate.
24:8He that ymagyneth myschefe, maye welbe called an vngracious personne.
24:9The thought of the foolysh is synne, & the scornefull is an abhominacion vnto men.
24:10If thou be ouersene and negligent in tyme of nede, then is thy strength but smal.
24:11Deliuer them that go vnto death, & are led awaye to be slayne, & be not neglygent therin yf thou be able to do them good.
24:12If thou wilt saye: I knewe not of it. Thinkest thou that he which made the hertes, doth not considre it? & that he which regardeth thy soule, seeth it not? Shall not be recompence euery man according to his worckes?
24:13My sonne, thou eatest hony & the swete hony combe, because it is good & swete in thy mouth.
24:14Euen so shall the knowledge of wysdome be vnto thy soule, assone as thou hast gotten it. And thow shalt haue longe dayes, yee, thy hope shall not be in vayne.
24:15Laye no preuy wayte (o wicked man) vpon the house of the ryghteous & disquiete not his restyng place.
24:16For a iust man falleth seuen tymes, & ryseth vp agayne, but the vngodly fall into wyckednes.
24:17Reioyce not thou at the fall of thyne enemye, & lett not thyne herte be glad when he stombleth.
24:18Lest the Lord (when seith it) be angrye, and turne hys wrath from hym vnto the.
24:19Let not thy wrath & gelousy moue the, to folowe the wycked & vngodly.
24:20And why? the wicked shall haue no posterite, and the candle of the vngodly shall be put out.
24:21My sonne, feare thou the Lord & the kynge, & kepe no company wt them that slyde backe from his feare:
24:22for theyr destruccion shall come sodenly, & who knoweth the aduersyte that maye come from them both?
24:23These are also the sayenges of the wyse. It is not good, to haue respecte of any persone in iudgement.
24:24He that sayeth to the vngodly: thou arte ryghteous hym shall the people curse, yee, the comentie shall abhorre him.
24:25But they that rebuke the vngodly, In them doth God delite, & a ryche blessyng shall come vpon them.
24:26Euery man shall kysse his lyppes, that geueth a good answere.
24:27Fyrst make vp thy worck that is without, & loke well vnto that which thou hast in the felde & then buylde thyne house.
24:28Be no false witnesse agaist thy neyghbour & speake no falshode wt thy lyppes.
24:29Saye not: I will handle him, euen as he hath dealte wt me, & wyll rewarde euery man accordinge to his dedes.
24:30I went by the felde of the slouthfull, & by the vyneiarde of the foolysh man.
24:31And lo, it was all couered wt nettels, & stode full of thystles, & the stone wall was broken downe.
24:32Thys I sawe, & considered it well: I loked vpon it, & toke it for a warnyng.
24:33Yee, slepe on styll a lytle, slombre a lytle, folde thy handes together yet a lytle:
24:34so shall pouerte come vnto the as one that trauayleth by the waye, & necessite lyke a weapened man.
