Exodus - Chapter: 14


14:1	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
14:2	Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
14:3	For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
14:4	And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did so.
14:5	And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?
14:6	And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:
14:7	And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over every one of them.
14:8	And the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.
14:9	But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.
14:10	And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD.
14:11	And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
14:12	Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
14:13	And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14:14	The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
14:15	And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
14:16	But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.
14:17	And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
14:18	And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen.
14:19	And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
14:20	And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
14:21	And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.
14:22	And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
14:23	And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
14:24	And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians,
14:25	And took off their chariot wheels, that they drave them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fighteth for them against the Egyptians.
14:26	And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.
14:27	And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
14:28	And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them.
14:29	But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
14:30	Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
14:31	And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD, and his servant Moses.


14:1	וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
14:2	דבר אל בני ישׂראל וישׁבו ויחנו לפני פי החירת בין מגדל ובין הים לפני בעל צפן נכחו תחנו על הים׃
14:3	ואמר פרעה לבני ישׂראל נבכים הם בארץ סגר עליהם המדבר׃
14:4	וחזקתי את לב פרעה ורדף אחריהם ואכבדה בפרעה ובכל חילו וידעו מצרים כי אני יהוה ויעשׂו כן׃
14:5	ויגד למלך מצרים כי ברח העם ויהפך לבב פרעה ועבדיו אל העם ויאמרו מה זאת עשׂינו כי שׁלחנו את ישׂראל מעבדנו׃
14:6	ויאסר את רכבו ואת עמו לקח עמו׃
14:7	ויקח שׁשׁ מאות רכב בחור וכל רכב מצרים ושׁלשׁם על כלו׃
14:8	ויחזק יהוה את לב פרעה מלך מצרים וירדף אחרי בני ישׂראל ובני ישׂראל יצאים ביד רמה׃
14:9	וירדפו מצרים אחריהם וישׂיגו אותם חנים על הים כל סוס רכב פרעה ופרשׁיו וחילו על פי החירת לפני בעל צפן׃
14:10	ופרעה הקריב וישׂאו בני ישׂראל את עיניהם והנה מצרים נסע אחריהם וייראו מאד ויצעקו בני ישׂראל אל יהוה׃
14:11	ויאמרו אל משׁה המבלי אין קברים במצרים לקחתנו למות במדבר מה זאת עשׂית לנו להוציאנו ממצרים׃
14:12	הלא זה הדבר אשׁר דברנו אליך במצרים לאמר חדל ממנו ונעבדה את מצרים כי טוב לנו עבד את מצרים ממתנו במדבר׃
14:13	ויאמר משׁה אל העם אל תיראו התיצבו וראו את ישׁועת יהוה אשׁר יעשׂה לכם היום כי אשׁר ראיתם את מצרים היום לא תספו לראתם עוד עד עולם׃
14:14	יהוה ילחם לכם ואתם תחרשׁון׃
14:15	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה מה תצעק אלי דבר אל בני ישׂראל ויסעו׃
14:16	ואתה הרם את מטך ונטה את ידך על הים ובקעהו ויבאו בני ישׂראל בתוך הים ביבשׁה׃
14:17	ואני הנני מחזק את לב מצרים ויבאו אחריהם ואכבדה בפרעה ובכל חילו ברכבו ובפרשׁיו׃
14:18	וידעו מצרים כי אני יהוה בהכבדי בפרעה ברכבו ובפרשׁיו׃
14:19	ויסע מלאך האלהים ההלך לפני מחנה ישׂראל וילך מאחריהם ויסע עמוד הענן מפניהם ויעמד מאחריהם׃
14:20	ויבא בין מחנה מצרים ובין מחנה ישׂראל ויהי הענן והחשׁך ויאר את הלילה ולא קרב זה אל זה כל הלילה׃
14:21	ויט משׁה את ידו על הים ויולך יהוה את הים ברוח קדים עזה כל הלילה וישׂם את הים לחרבה ויבקעו המים׃
14:22	ויבאו בני ישׂראל בתוך הים ביבשׁה והמים להם חומה מימינם ומשׂמאלם׃
14:23	וירדפו מצרים ויבאו אחריהם כל סוס פרעה רכבו ופרשׁיו אל תוך הים׃
14:24	ויהי באשׁמרת הבקר וישׁקף יהוה אל מחנה מצרים בעמוד אשׁ וענן ויהם את מחנה מצרים׃
14:25	ויסר את אפן מרכבתיו וינהגהו בכבדת ויאמר מצרים אנוסה מפני ישׂראל כי יהוה נלחם להם במצרים׃
14:26	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה נטה את ידך על הים וישׁבו המים על מצרים על רכבו ועל פרשׁיו׃
14:27	ויט משׁה את ידו על הים וישׁב הים לפנות בקר לאיתנו ומצרים נסים לקראתו וינער יהוה את מצרים בתוך הים׃
14:28	וישׁבו המים ויכסו את הרכב ואת הפרשׁים לכל חיל פרעה הבאים אחריהם בים לא נשׁאר בהם עד אחד׃
14:29	ובני ישׂראל הלכו ביבשׁה בתוך הים והמים להם חמה מימינם ומשׂמאלם׃
14:30	ויושׁע יהוה ביום ההוא את ישׂראל מיד מצרים וירא ישׂראל את מצרים מת על שׂפת הים׃
14:31	וירא ישׂראל את היד הגדלה אשׁר עשׂה יהוה במצרים וייראו העם את יהוה ויאמינו ביהוה ובמשׁה עבדו׃


14:1	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
14:2	`Speak unto the sons of Israel, and they turn back and encamp before Pi-Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal-Zephon; over-against it ye do encamp by the sea,
14:3	and Pharaoh hath said of the sons of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut upon them;
14:4	and I have strengthened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hath pursued after them, and I am honoured on Pharaoh, and on all his force, and the Egyptians have known that I `am' Jehovah;' and they do so.
14:5	And it is declared to the king of Egypt that the people hath fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and of his servants is turned against the people, and they say, `What `is' this we have done? that we have sent Israel away from our service.'
14:6	And he harnesseth his chariot, and his people he hath taken with him,
14:7	and he taketh six hundred chosen chariots, even all the chariots of Egypt, and captains over them all;
14:8	and Jehovah strengtheneth the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursueth after the sons of Israel, and the sons of Israel are going out with a high hand,
14:9	and the Egyptians pursue after them, and all the chariot horses of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his force, overtake them, encamping by the sea, by Pi-Hahiroth, before Baal-Zephon.
14:10	And Pharaoh hath drawn near, and the sons of Israel lift up their eyes, and lo, the Egyptians are journeying after them, and they fear exceedingly, and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah.
14:11	And they say unto Moses, `Because there are no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in a wilderness? what is this thou hast done to us -- to bring us out from Egypt?
14:12	Is not this the word which we spake unto thee in Egypt, saying, Cease from us, and we serve the Egyptians; for better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in a wilderness?'
14:13	And Moses saith unto the people, `Fear not, station yourselves, and see the salvation of Jehovah, which He doth for you to-day; for, as ye have seen the Egyptians to-day, ye add no more to see them -- to the age;
14:14	Jehovah doth fight for you, and ye keep silent.'
14:15	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `What? thou criest unto Me -- speak unto the sons of Israel, and they journey;
14:16	and thou, lift up thy rod, and stretch out thy hand towards the sea, and cleave it, and the sons of Israel go into the midst of the sea on dry land.
14:17	`And I -- lo, I am strengthening the heart of the Egyptians, and they go in after them, and I am honoured on Pharaoh, and on all his force, on his chariots, and on his horsemen;
14:18	and the Egyptians have known that I `am' Jehovah, in My being honoured on Pharaoh, on his chariots, and on his horsemen.'
14:19	And the messenger of God, who is going before the camp of Israel, journeyeth and goeth at their rear; and the pillar of the cloud journeyeth from their front, and standeth at their rear,
14:20	and cometh in between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel, and the cloud and the darkness are, and he enlighteneth the night, and the one hath not drawn near unto the other all the night.
14:21	And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the sea, and Jehovah causeth the sea to go on by a strong east wind all the night, and maketh the sea become dry ground, and the waters are cleaved,
14:22	and the sons of Israel go into the midst of the sea, on dry land, and the waters `are' to them a wall, on their right and on their left.
14:23	And the Egyptians pursue, and go in after them (all the horses of Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen) unto the midst of the sea,
14:24	and it cometh to pass, in the morning watch, that Jehovah looketh unto the camp of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and of the cloud, and troubleth the camp of the Egyptians,
14:25	and turneth aside the wheels of their chariots, and they lead them with difficulty, and the Egyptians say, `Let us flee from the face of Israel, for Jehovah is fighting for them against the Egyptians.'
14:26	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Stretch out thy hand toward the sea, and the waters turn back on the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.'
14:27	And Moses stretcheth out his hand towards the sea, and the sea turneth back, at the turning of the morning, to its perennial flow, and the Egyptians are fleeing at its coming, and Jehovah shaketh off the Egyptians in the midst of the sea,
14:28	and the waters turn back, and cover the chariots and the horsemen, even all the force of Pharaoh, who are coming in after them into the sea -- there hath not been left of them even one.
14:29	And the sons of Israel have gone on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters `are' to them a wall, on their right and on their left;
14:30	and Jehovah saveth Israel in that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel seeth the Egyptians dead on the sea-shore,
14:31	and Israel seeth the great hand with which Jehovah hath wrought against the Egyptians, and the people fear Jehovah, and remain stedfast in Jehovah, and in Moses His servant.
