Isaiah - Chapter: 3


3:1	For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water.
3:2	The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3:3	The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
3:4	And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
3:5	And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
3:6	When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
3:7	In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
3:8	For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
3:9	The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
3:10	Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
3:11	Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
3:12	As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
3:13	The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
3:14	The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
3:15	What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
3:16	Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
3:17	Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
3:18	In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,
3:19	The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
3:20	The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
3:21	The rings, and nose jewels,
3:22	The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
3:23	The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
3:24	And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
3:25	Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
3:26	And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she being desolate shall sit upon the ground.


3:1	כי הנה האדון יהוה צבאות מסיר מירושׁלם ומיהודה משׁען ומשׁענה כל משׁען לחם וכל משׁען מים׃
3:2	גבור ואישׁ מלחמה שׁופט ונביא וקסם וזקן׃
3:3	שׂר חמשׁים ונשׂוא פנים ויועץ וחכם חרשׁים ונבון לחשׁ׃
3:4	ונתתי נערים שׂריהם ותעלולים ימשׁלו׃
3:5	ונגשׂ העם אישׁ באישׁ ואישׁ ברעהו ירהבו הנער בזקן והנקלה בנכבד׃
3:6	כי יתפשׂ אישׁ באחיו בית אביו שׂמלה לכה קצין תהיה לנו והמכשׁלה הזאת תחת ידך׃
3:7	ישׂא ביום ההוא לאמר לא אהיה חבשׁ ובביתי אין לחם ואין שׂמלה לא תשׂימני קצין עם׃
3:8	כי כשׁלה ירושׁלם ויהודה נפל כי לשׁונם ומעלליהם אל יהוה למרות עני כבודו׃
3:9	הכרת פניהם ענתה בם וחטאתם כסדם הגידו לא כחדו אוי לנפשׁם כי גמלו להם רעה׃
3:10	אמרו צדיק כי טוב כי פרי מעלליהם יאכלו׃
3:11	אוי לרשׁע רע כי גמול ידיו יעשׂה׃
3:12	עמי נגשׂיו מעולל ונשׁים משׁלו בו עמי מאשׁריך מתעים ודרך ארחתיך בלעו׃
3:13	נצב לריב יהוה ועמד לדין עמים׃
3:14	יהוה במשׁפט יבוא עם זקני עמו ושׂריו ואתם בערתם הכרם גזלת העני בבתיכם׃
3:15	מלכם תדכאו עמי ופני עניים תטחנו נאם אדני יהוה צבאות׃
3:16	ויאמר יהוה יען כי גבהו בנות ציון ותלכנה נטוות גרון ומשׂקרות עינים הלוך וטפף תלכנה וברגליהם תעכסנה׃
3:17	ושׂפח אדני קדקד בנות ציון ויהוה פתהן יערה׃
3:18	ביום ההוא יסיר אדני את תפארת העכסים והשׁביסים והשׂהרנים׃
3:19	הנטיפות והשׁירות והרעלות׃
3:20	הפארים והצעדות והקשׁרים ובתי הנפשׁ והלחשׁים׃
3:21	הטבעות ונזמי האף׃
3:22	המחלצות והמעטפות והמטפחות והחריטים׃
3:23	והגלינים והסדינים והצניפות והרדידים׃
3:24	והיה תחת בשׂם מק יהיה ותחת חגורה נקפה ותחת מעשׂה מקשׁה קרחה ותחת פתיגיל מחגרת שׂק כי תחת יפי׃
3:25	מתיך בחרב יפלו וגבורתך במלחמה׃
3:26	ואנו ואבלו פתחיה ונקתה לארץ תשׁב׃


3:1	For, lo, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is turning aside from Jerusalem, And from Judah, stay and staff, Every stay of bread, and every stay of water.
3:2	Hero and man of war, judge and prophet, And diviner and elder,
3:3	Head of fifty, and accepted of faces, And counsellor, and the wise of artificers, And the intelligent of charmers.
3:4	And I have made youths their heads, And sucklings rule over them.
3:5	And the people hath exacted -- man upon man, Even a man on his neighbour, Enlarge themselves do the youths against the aged, And the lightly esteemed against the honoured.
3:6	When one layeth hold on his brother, `Of' the house of his father, `by' the garment, `Come, a ruler thou art to us, And this ruin `is' under thy hand.'
3:7	He lifteth up, in that day, saying: `I am not a binder up, And in my house is neither bread nor garment, Ye do not make me a ruler of the people.'
3:8	For stumbled hath Jerusalem, and Judah hath fallen, For their tongue and their doings `are' against Jehovah, To provoke the eyes of His glory.
3:9	The appearance of their faces witnessed against them, And their sin, as Sodom, they declared, They have not hidden! Wo to their soul, For they have done to themselves evil.
3:10	Say ye to the righteous, that `it is' good, Because the fruit of their doings they eat.
3:11	Wo to the wicked -- evil, Because the deed of his hand is done to him.
3:12	My people -- its exactors `are' sucklings, And women have ruled over it. My people -- thy eulogists are causing to err, And the way of thy paths swallowed up.
3:13	Jehovah hath stood up to plead, And He is standing to judge the peoples.
3:14	Jehovah into judgment doth enter With elders of His people, and its heads: `And ye, ye have consumed the vineyard, Plunder of the poor `is' in your houses.
3:15	What -- to you? ye bruise My people, And the faces of the poor ye grind.' An affirmation of the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, And Jehovah saith:
3:16	`Because that daughters of Zion have been haughty, And they walk stretching out the neck, And deceiving `with' the eyes, Walking and mincing they go, And with their feet they make a tinkling,
3:17	The Lord also hath scabbed The crown of the head of daughters of Zion, And Jehovah their simplicity exposeth.
3:18	In that day doth the Lord turn aside The beauty of the tinkling ornaments, And of the embroidered works, And of the round tires like moons,
3:19	Of the drops, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
3:20	Of the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, And of the bands, And of the perfume boxes, and the amulets,
3:21	Of the seals, and of the nose-rings,
3:22	Of the costly apparel, and of the mantles, And of the coverings, and of the purses,
3:23	Of the mirrors, and of the linen garments, And of the hoods, and of the vails,
3:24	And it hath been, instead of spice is muck, And instead of a girdle, a rope, And instead of curled work, baldness, And instead of a stomacher a girdle of sackcloth.
3:25	For instead of glory, thy men by sword do fall, And thy might in battle.
3:26	And lamented and mourned have her openings, Yea, she hath been emptied, on the earth she sitteth!
