Isaiah - Chapter: 3


3:1	For behold, the Lord, the Lord of hostes doeth take away from Ierusalem, and from Iudah, the stay and the staffe, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
3:2	The mighty man, and the man of warre; the Iudge and the Prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3:3	The captaine of fiftie, and the honourable man, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent oratour.
3:4	And I will giue children to bee their Princes, and babes shall rule ouer them.
3:5	And the people shall be oppressed, euery one by another, and euery one by his neighbour: the childe shall behaue himselfe proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
3:6	When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruine bee vnder thy hand:
3:7	In that day shall he sweare, saying, I will not be an healer: for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
3:8	For Ierusalem is ruined, & Iudah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the Lord, to prouoke the eyes of his glorie.
3:9	The shew of their countenance doeth witnesse against them, and they declare their sinne as Sodom, they hide it not: woe vnto their soule, for they haue rewarded euill vnto themselues.
3:10	Say yee to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eate the fruit of their doings.
3:11	Woe vnto the wicked, it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his handes shalbe giuen him.
3:12	As for my people, children are their oppressours, and women rule ouer them: O my people, they which lead thee, cause thee to erre, and destroy the way of thy paths.
3:13	The Lord standeth vp to plead, and standeth to iudge the people.
3:14	The Lord will enter into iudgement with the ancients of his people, and the Princes thereof: for ye haue eaten vp the Uineyard; the spoile of the poore is in your houses.
3:15	What meane yee that yee beat my people to pieces, and grinde the faces of the poore, saith the Lord God of hosts?
3:16	Moreouer the Lord saith; Because the daughters of Zion are hautie, and walke with stretched forth necks, and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they goe, and making a tinkeling with their feet:
3:17	Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crowne of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discouer their secret parts.
3:18	In that day the Lord will take away the brauery of their tinckling ornaments about their feete, and their caules, and their round tyres like the Moone.
3:19	The chaines, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
3:20	The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legges, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earerings,
3:21	The rings, and nose-iewels,
3:22	The changeable sutes of apparell, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pinnes,
3:23	The glasses, and the fine linnen, and the hoods, and the vailes.
3:24	And it shall come to passe, that in steade of sweete smell, there shall bee stinke; and in stead of a girdle, a rent; and in stead of well set haire, baldnesse; and in stead of a stomacher, a girding of sackecloth; and burning, in stead of beautie.
3:25	Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mightie in the warre.
3:26	And her gates shall lament and mourne; and she being desolate, shall sit vpon the ground.


3:1	For lo, the Lord God of hostes will take away from Ierusalem and from Iudah the stay and the strength: euen all the staye of bread, and all the stay of water,
3:2	The strong man, and the man of warre, the iudge and the prophet, the prudent and the aged,
3:3	The captaine of fiftie, and the honourable, and the counseller, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent man.
3:4	And I will appoint children to bee their princes, and babes shall rule ouer them.
3:5	The people shalbe oppressed one of another, and euery one by his neighbour: the children shall presume against the ancient, and the vile against the honourable.
3:6	When euery one shall take holde of his brother of the house of his father, and say, Thou hast clothing: thou shalt bee our prince, and let this fall be vnder thine hand.
3:7	In that day hee shall sweare, saying, I cannot bee an helper: for there is no bread in mine house, nor clothing: therefore make me no prince of the people.
3:8	Doubtlesse Ierusalem is fallen, and Iudah is fallen downe, because their tongue and workes are against the Lord, to prouoke the eyes of his glory.
3:9	The triall of their countenance testifieth against them, yea, they declare their sinnes as Sodom, they hide them not. Wo be vnto their soules: for they haue rewarded euil vnto themselues.
3:10	Say ye, Surely it shalbe well with the iust: for they shall eate the fruite of their workes.
3:11	Woe be to the wicked, it shalbe euill with him: for the reward of his handes shalbe giuen him.
3:12	Children are extortioners of my people, and women haue rule ouer them: O my people, they that leade thee, cause thee to erre, and destroy the way of thy paths.
3:13	The Lord standeth vp to pleade, yea, hee standeth to iudge the people.
3:14	The Lord shall enter into iudgement with the Ancients of his people and the princes thereof: for ye haue eaten vp the vineyarde: the spoyle of the poore is in your houses.
3:15	What haue ye to do, that ye beate my people to pieces, and grinde the faces of the poore, saith the Lord, euen the Lord of hoasts?
3:16	The Lord also saith, Because the daughters of Zion are hautie, and walke with stretched out neckes, and with wandering eyes, walking and minsing as they goe, and making a tinkeling with their feete,
3:17	Therefore shall the Lord make the heades of the daughters of Zion balde, and the Lord shall discouer their secrete partes.
3:18	In that day shall the Lord take away the ornament of the slippers, and the calles, and the round tyres,
3:19	The sweete balles, and the brasselets, and the bonnets,
3:20	The tyres of the head, and the sloppes, and the head bandes, and the tablets, and the earings,
3:21	The rings and the mufflers,
3:22	The costly apparell and the vailes, and the wimples, and the crisping pinnes,
3:23	And the glasses and the fine linen, and the hoodes, and the launes.
3:24	And in steade of sweete sauour, there shall be stinke, and in steade of a girdle, a rent, and in steade of dressing of the heare, baldnesse, and in steade of a stomacher, a girding of sackecloth, and burning in steade of beautie.
3:25	Thy men shall fall by the sworde, and thy strength in the battell.
3:26	Then shall her gates mourne and lament, and she, being desolate, shall sit vpon the ground.


3:1	For lo, the Lorde God of Hostes doth take awaye from Ierusalem and Iuda, all possessions & power al meat and dryncke,
3:2	the captayne and the soudyar, the iudge and prophete, the wyse and the aged man,
3:3	the prince of fyftie yeare olde, and the honorable: the Senatours, and men of vnderstandynge: the master of craftes and oratours.
3:4	And I shall geue them children to be theyr princes, & babes shall haue the rule of you.
3:5	The people also shalbe pylled and polled, and one shall euer be doynge violence and wronge to another. The boye shall presume agaynst the elder, and the vyle persone agaynst the honorable.
3:6	Yee, one shall take a frende of hys awne kynred by the bosome, and saye: thou hast clothynge, thou shalt be our head, for thou mayest kepe vs from thys fall & parell.
3:7	Then shall he sweare & saye I cannot helpe you. Moreouer, there is nether meate ner clothyng in my house, make me no ruler of the people.
3:8	For Ierusalem is ouerthrowne & Iuda must fall to the grownde, because that both theyr wordes & councels are agaynst the Lorde, to prouoke the presence of hys magesty vnto anger.
3:9	The chaungynge of theyr countenaunce bewrayeth them, yee, they declare theyr awne synnes, them selues, as the Sodomites, & hyde them not. Wo be vnto theyr soules for they haue retourned euyll vnto them selues.
3:10	Byd the ryghteous do well, for they shall enioye the frutes of theyr studies.
3:11	But wo be to the vngodly and vnryghteous, for they shalbe rewarded after theyr worckes.
3:12	Children are extorcioners of my people, and wemen haue rule of them. O my people, those that call the blessed deceaue the, and depraue the waye of thy fotesteppes.
3:13	The Lorde is rysen vp to commen of the matter, and standeth vp (I saye) to geue iudgement of the people.
3:14	The Lorde shall come forth to reason with the Senatours and prynces of hys people. It is ye that haue burnt vp my vyneyarde, the extorcyon done to the poore is in your houses.
3:15	Wherfore do ye oppresse my people, & marre the faces of the poore? sayeth the Lorde God of hostes.
3:16	Moreouer, thus sayth the lord: Seing the daughters of Sion are be come so proude, and come in wt stretched out neckes and with vayne wanton eyes: seynge they come in tryppyng so nycely with theyr fete:
3:17	Therfore shall the Lorde shaue the heades of the daughters of Sion, and shal discouer theyr shame.
3:18	In that daye shall the Lord take awaye the gorgiousnes of theyr apparell, and spanges, cheynes, partelettes,
3:19	and colarres, bracelettes and hooues,
3:20	the goodly floured, wyde and brodered rayment, brooches, and headbandes,
3:21	rynges and garlandes,
3:22	holy daye clothes and vales, kerchefes and pinnes,
3:23	glasses and cypresses, bonettes and taches.
3:24	And in steade of good smell, there shalbe stynck amonge them. And for theyr gyrdles there shalbe lowse bandes. And for well sett heare there shalbe baldenesse. In steade of a stomacher, a sack cloth, and for theyr bewty witherdnesse, and sonne burnyng.
3:25	Youre housbandes and myghtie men shall perysh with the swerde in batayle.
3:26	At that tyme shal theyr gates mourne and complayne, and they shall sytt as desolate folck vpon the earth.
