Isaiah - Chapter: 10


10:1	Woe vnto them that decree vnrighteous decrees, and that write grieuousnesse which they haue prescribed:
10:2	To turne aside the needy from iudgement, and to take away the right from the poore of my people, that widdowes may be their pray, and that they may robbe the fatherles.
10:3	And what wil ye doe in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from farre? To whom wil ye flee for helpe? And where will yee leaue your glory?
10:4	Without mee they shall bowe downe vnder the prisoners, and they shall fall vnder the slaine: for all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
10:5	O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staffe in their hand is mine indignation.
10:6	I will send him against an hypocriticall nation, and against the people of my wrath will I giue him a charge to take the spoile, and to take the praye, and to tread them downe like the mire of the streets.
10:7	Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart thinke so, but it is in his heart to destroy, and cut off nations not a few.
10:8	For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?
10:9	Is not Calno, as Carchemish? Is not Hamath, as Arpad? Is not Samaria, as Damascus?
10:10	As my hand hath found the kingdomes of the idoles, and whose grauen images did excell them of Ierusalem and of Samaria:
10:11	Shall I not, as I haue done vnto Samaria and her idoles, so doe to Ierusalem and her idoles?
10:12	Wherefore it shall come to passe, that when the Lord hath performed his whole worke vpon mount Zion, and on Ierusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high lookes.
10:13	For hee saith, By the strength of my hand I haue done it, and by my wisedome, for I am prudent: and I haue remooued the bounds of the people, and haue robbed their treasures, and I haue put downe the inhabitants like a valiant man.
10:14	And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth egges that are left, haue I gathered all the earth, and there was none that moued the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.
10:15	Shall the axe boast it selfe against him that heweth therewith? Or shal the sawe magnifie it selfe against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake it selfe against them that lift it vp, or as if the staffe should lift vp it selfe, as if it were no wood.
10:16	Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leannesse, and vnder his glory hee shall kindle a burning, like the burning of a fire.
10:17	And the light of Israel shall bee for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burne and deuoure his thornes and his briers in one day:
10:18	And shall consume the glory of his forrest, and of his fruitfull field both soule and body: and they shall bee as when a standerd bearer fainteth.
10:19	And the rest of the trees of his forrest shall be few, that a child may write them.
10:20	And it shal come to passe in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Iacob, shall no more againe stay vpon him that smote them: but shall stay vpon the Lord, the Holy One of Israel in trueth.
10:21	The remnant shall returne, euen the remnant of Iacob, vnto the mightie God.
10:22	For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall returne: the consumption decreed shall ouerflow with righteousnesse.
10:23	For the Lord God of hostes shall make a consumption, euen determined in the middest of all the land.
10:24	Therfore thus saith the Lord God of hostes, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraide of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift vp his staffe against thee, after the maner of Egypt.
10:25	For yet a very litle while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
10:26	And the Lord of hostes shall stirre vp a scourge for him, according to the slaughter of Midian at the rocke Oreb: and as his rod was vpon the Sea, so shall he lift it vp after the manner of Egypt.
10:27	And it shall come to passe in that day, that his burden shalbe taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy necke, and the yoke shalbe destroyed because of the anointing.
10:28	He is come to Aiath, hee is passed to Migron: at Michmash he hath laid vp his cariages.
10:29	They are gone ouer the passage: they haue taken vp their lodging at Geba, Ramah is afraid, Gebeah of Saul is fled.
10:30	Lift vp thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to bee heard vnto Laish, O poore Anathoth.
10:31	Madmenah is remooued, the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselues to flee.
10:32	As yet shall hee remaine at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Ierusalem.
10:33	Behold, the Lord, the Lord of hostes shall lop the bough with terrour: and the high ones of stature shal be hewen downe, and the haughtie shalbe humbled.
10:34	And he shall cut downe the thickets of the forrests with yron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mightie one.

10:2	To keepe backe ye poore from iudgement, and to take away the iudgement of the poore of my people, that widowes may be their pray, and that they may spoyle the fatherlesse.
10:3	What will ye doe nowe in the day of visitation, and of destruction, which shall come from farre? to whom will ye flee for helpe? and where will ye leaue your glorie?
10:4	Without me euery one shall fall among them that are bound, and they shall fall downe among the slayne: yet for all this his wrath is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
10:5	O Asshur, the rodde of my wrath: and the staffe in their hands is mine indignation.
10:6	I will sende him to a dissembling nation, and I will giue him a charge against the people of my wrath to take the spoyle and to take the pray, and to treade them vnder feete like the mire in the streete.
10:7	But he thinketh not so, neither doeth his heart esteeme it so: but he imagineth to destroy and to cut off not a fewe nations.
10:8	For he sayeth, Are not my princes altogether Kings?
10:9	Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath like Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?
10:10	Like as mine hand hath founde the kingdomes of the idoles, seeing their idoles were aboue Ierusalem, and aboue Samaria:
10:11	Shall not I, as I haue done to Samaria, and to the idoles thereof, so doe to Ierusalem and to the idoles thereof?
10:12	But when the Lord hath accomplished all his worke vpon mount Zion and Ierusalem, I will visite the fruite of the proude heart of the King of Asshur, and his glorious and proud lookes,
10:13	Because he said, By ye power of mine owne hand haue I done it, and by my wisdome, because I am wise: therefore I haue remooued the borders of the people, and haue spoyled their treasures, and haue pulled downe the inhabitants like a valiant man.
10:14	And mine hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people, and as one gathereth egges that are left, so haue I gathered all the earth: and there was none to mooue the wing or to open the mouth, or to whisper.
10:15	Shall the axe boast it selfe against him that heweth therewith? or shall the sawe exalt it selfe against him that moueth it? as if the rod shoulde lift vp it selfe against him that taketh it vp, or the staffe should exalt it selfe, as it were no wood.
10:16	Therefore shall the Lord God of hostes send amog his fat men, leannes, and vnder his glorie he shall kindle a burning, like the burning of fire.
10:17	And the light of Israel shalbe as a fire, and the Holy one thereof as a flame, and it shall burne, and deuoure his thornes and his briers in one day:

10:26	And ye Lord of hostes shall raise vp a scourge for him, according to the plague of Midian in the rocke Oreb: and as his staffe was vpon the Sea, so he will lift it vp after the maner of Egypt.
10:27	And at that day shall his burden be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy necke: and the yoke shalbe destroied because of the anoynting.

10:32	Yet there is a time that he will stay at Nob: he shall lift vp his hand towarde the mount of the daughter Zion, the hill of Ierusalem.
10:33	Beholde, the Lord God of hostes shall cut off the bough with feare, and they of high stature shalbe cut off, and the hie shalbe humbled.
10:34	And he shall cut away the thicke places of the forest with yron, and Lebanon shall haue a mightie fall.


10:1	Wo be vnto them that make vnryghteous lawes, & deuyse thinges, which be to harde for to kepe:
10:2	wher thorow the poore are oppressed, on euery syde, and the innocentes of my people robbed of iudgement: that wyddowes maye be theyr praye, and that they maye robbe the fatherlesse.
10:3	What will ye do in tyme of the visitacyon, and whan destruccion shall come from farre? To whom wyll ye ronne for helpe? and to whom wyll ye geue youre honoure, that he maye kepe it?
10:4	that when I with drawe my hande ye come not amonge the presoners, or lye amonge the deed? After all this doth not the wrath of the Lord ceasse, but yet is his hande stretched out styll.
10:5	Wo be also vnto Assur, which is a staf of my wrath, in whose hande is the rod of my punyshement.
10:6	I shall sende hym amonge those ypocritish people, amonge the people that haue deserued my dysfauoures shall I send hym: that he may vtterly robbe them, spoyle them, and treade them downe lyke the myre in the strete.
10:7	Howbeit, his meanyng is not so nether thynketh his hert of thys fasshyon. But he ymagineth onely, how he may rote out and destroye moch people,
10:8	for he sayeth are not my Prynces all Kynges?
10:9	Is not Calno as easye to wynne, as Charchamis? Is it harder to conquere Hamath then Arphad? Or is it lyghter to ouercome Damascus then Samaria?
10:10	As who say: I were able to wynne the Kyngdome of the Idolaters and their goddes: but not Ierusalem & Samaria.
10:11	Shal I not do vnto Ierusalem & their ymages, as I dyd vnto Samaria and their ydoles?
10:12	Wherfore the Lord sayeth: Assone as I haue perfourmed my whole worcke vpon the hyll of Syon and Ierusalem, then wyll I vyset the noble and stoute hart of the kynge of Assyria, with hys proude lookes.
10:13	For he standeth thus in his awne conceate: This do I thorowe the power of myne awne hande, and thorow my wysdome: For I am wyse, I am he that remoue the landes of the people: I robbe their treasures: and (lyke one of the worthyes) I dryue them from their hye seates.
10:14	My hande hath founde out the strength of the people, as it were a nest. And lyke as egges, that were layde here and there, are gathered together: So do I gather all countrees. And there is no man, that darre be so bolde, as to touch a fether, that darre open his mouth, or once whysper.
10:15	Shall the axe boast it selfe, agaynst him that heweth therwith? or doth the sawe make eny bragging agaynst him that ruleth it? That were euen lyke, as yf the rod dyd exalte it selfe agaynst him that beareth it: or as though the staff shulde magnifye it selfe, as who saye: it were no wood.
10:16	Therfore shal the Lord of hostes send him amonge his fatlinges leanes, & burne vp his glory, as it were wt a fyre.
10:17	But the lyght of Israel shalbe that fyre, and his Sanctuary shalbe the flamme and it shall kyndle, and burne vp his thornes and breers in one daye,
10:18	yee all the glory of his woddes and feldes shalbe consumed with body & soule: And they shalbe as an hoost of men, whose standerd bearer fayleth.
10:19	The trees also of hys felde which remayne, shalbe of soch a nombre, that a childe maye tell them.
10:20	After that daye shall the remnaunt of Israel, & soch as are escaped out of the house of Iacob, seke nomore conforte at him that smote them, but with faythfulnesse & treuth shal they trust vnto the Lord, the holy one of Israel.
10:21	The remnaunt, euen the Posteryte of Iacob, shall conuerte vnto God the myghty one.
10:22	For though thy people (O Israel) be as the lande of the see, yet shal the remnaunt of them conuerte in hym. Perfecte is the iudgement of him that floweth in ryghteousnesse,
10:23	and therfore the Lorde of hostes shall perfectly fulfyll the thynge, that he hath determined in the myddest of the whole worlde
10:24	Therfore thus sayeth the Lord God of hostes: Thou my people, that dwellest in Syon, be not afrayed, for the kynge of the Assirians: He shal smyte the with a rodd, & shal wagg his staff at the, as the Egypcians dyd some tyme:
10:25	But soone after, shall my wrath and myne indignacion be fulfylled in the destruccion of them.
10:26	Moreouer, the Lord of Hostes shall prepare a scourge for him, lyke as was the slaughter of Madian vpon the rock of Oreb. And he shall lyft vp his rodd ouer the see, as he dyd somtyme ouer the Egypcians.
10:27	Then shall hys burthen be taken from thy shoulders, and his yock from thy neck, yee, the same yock shall be corrupte for very fatnesse.
10:28	He shall come to Aiath, and go thorow toward Mygron: at Mychmas shall he laye vp his harnesse,
10:29	and go ouer the foorde. Gybea shall be their restynge place, Rhamah shalbe a frayed, Gybea Saul shall flye awaye.
10:30	The voyce of the noyes of thy horses (O daughter Gallim) shalbe herde vnto Lays & to Anathoth, which also shalbe in trouble.
10:31	Madmena shall tremble for reare, but the citesins of Gabin are manly,
10:32	yet shal he remayne at Nob that daye. After that, shal he lyft vp hys hande agaynst the mount of the daughter Syon, the hyll of Ierusalem.
10:33	But se, the Lord God of hostes shall take awaye the proude from thence, with feare. He shall hewe downe the proude, & fel the hye mynded.
10:34	The busshes also of the wood shal he rote out with yron, and Lybanus shall haue a myghtye fall.
