| 17:1 | Thys is the heuye burthen vpon Damascus: Beholde, Damascus is taken awaye, to be nomore a citye, but shalbe an heape of broken stones. |
| 17:2 | The waste cityes of Aroer shalbe foldes for catel which shal lye there, and there shalbe none to fraye them awaye |
| 17:3 | Ephraim also shall nomore be strong, & Damascus shall nomore be a kyngdome, & the remnaunt of Syria shalbe as the glorye of the children of Israel, sayeth the Lord of hostes. |
| 17:4 | And in that daye it shal come to passe that Iacob shalbe made very poore, & the fatnesse of hys fleshe shall waxe leane. |
| 17:5 | And he shalbe as one that gathereth vp corne in haruest, euen lyke him whose arme reapeth the eares of corne. He shalbe also lyke hym that gathereth eares of corne in the valley of Rephaim. |
| 17:6 | Some gathering in dede shal there be left in it, euen as in the shakyng of an olyue tre there remayne two or thre beryes in the toppe of the vppermost bowe, & foure or fyue in the brode frutefull braunches therof, sayeth the Lorde God of Israel. |
| 17:7 | Then shall man turne agayne to his maker, & his eyes shall haue respecte to the holy one of Israel. |
| 17:8 | As for the altares which are his awne handy worke, he shal not regarde them, & the thynges that his fyngers haue made (as groues & ymages) those shall he not cast his eye vnto. |
| 17:9 | In that daye shal their strong cities be as the forsaken shrubbes & braunches, which they left because of the children of Israel, & the londe shalbe desolate. |
| 17:10 | Because thou hast forgotten God thy saluacion, and hast not bene myndefull of thy strong rock, therfore shalt thou set pleasaunt plantes, & shalt graffe the braunche of another mans vyne. |
| 17:11 | In the daye shalt thou make thy plant to growe, & early in the mornynge shalt thou make thy sede to florish. The haruest shalbe gone in the daye of enheritaunce, & there shalbe sorowe without hope of comforte. |
| 17:12 | Wo shalbe to the multitude of moche people, which shall make a sounde lyke the noyse of the see: And the violence of the nacions, which shal rage lyke the russhyng in of many waters: |
| 17:13 | Euen lyke many waters shall the people rage. God shall rebuke him, and he shal flye farre of. He shalbe chaced awaye lyke as drye strawe vpon the mountaynes before the wynde, and lyke a thing that turneth before the storme. |
| 17:14 | At euen beholde, there is trouble: & or euer it be mornyng, lo, he is gone. This is the porcyon of them that oppresse vs, and the lott of them that robbe vs. |
| 17:1 | The birthun of Damask. Lo! Damask schal faile to be a citee, and it schal be as an heep of stoonys in fallyng. |
| 17:2 | The forsakun citees of Aroer schulen be to flockis; and tho schulen reste there, and noon schal be that schal make aferd. |
| 17:3 | And help schal ceesse fro Effraym, and a rewme fro Damask; and the relifs of Sirie schulen be as the glorie of the sones of Israel, seith the Lord of oostis. |
| 17:4 | And it schal be, in that dai the glorie of Jacob schal be maad thinne, and the fatnesse of his fleisch shal fade. |
| 17:5 | And it schal be as gaderyng togidere that that is left in heruest, and his arm schal gadere eeris of corn, and it schal be as sekynge eeris of corn in the valei of Raphaym. |
| 17:6 | And there schal be left in it as a rasyn, and as the schakyng doun of the fruyt of olyue tre, as of tweyne ether of thre olyue trees in the hiynesse of a braunche, ether of foure ether of fyue; in the cooppis therof schal be the fruyt therof, seith the Lord God of Israel. |
| 17:7 | In that dai a man schal be bowid to his maker, and hise iyen schulen biholde to the hooli of Israel. |
| 17:8 | And he schal not be bowid to the auteris, whiche hise hondis maden, and whiche hise fyngris wrouyten; he schal not biholde wodis, and templis of idols. |
| 17:9 | In that dai the citees of strengthe therof schulen be forsakun as plowis, and cornes that weren forsakun of the face of the sones of Israel; and thou schalt be forsakun. |
| 17:10 | For thou hast foryete God, thi sauyour, and haddist not mynde on thi stronge helpere; therfor thou schalt plaunte a feithful plauntyng, and thou schalt sowe an alien seed. |
| 17:11 | In the dai of thi plauntyng schal be a wielde vyne, and erli thi seed schal floure; ripe corne is takun awei in the dai of eritage, and Israel schal make sorewe greuousli. |
| 17:12 | Wo to the multitude of many puplis, as the multitude of the see sownynge, and the noise of cumpenyes as the sown of many watris. |
| 17:13 | Puplis schulen sowne as the sown of flowynge watris, and God schal blame hym; and he schal fle fer, and he schal be rauyschid as the dust of hillis fro the face of the wynd, and as a whirlewynd bifor tempest. |
| 17:14 | In the time of euentide, and lo! disturbling; in the morewtid, and he schal not abide. This is the part of hem that destrieden vs, and the part of hem that rauyschiden vs. |

| 17:5 | It shal happe to the, as when one sheareth in haruest, which cutteth his handful wt the sickle, & when one gathreth ye sheaues together in the valley, of Rephaim, |
| 17:6 | there remayneth yet some ears ouer. Or as whe one shaketh an olyue tre, which fyndeth but two or thre olyue beries aboue in the toppe, and foure or fyue in the braunches. Thus the LORDE God of Israel hath spoken. |
| 17:7 | Then shal man couerte agayne vnto his maker, & turne his eyes to the holy one of Israel |
| 17:8 | And shal not turne to the aulters that are ye worke of his owne hodes, nether shal he loke vpon groaues & ymages, which his fyngers haue wrought. |
| 17:9 | At the same tyme shal their stronge cities be desolate, like as were once ye forsake plowes & corne, which they forsoke, for feare of ye children of Israel. |
| 17:10 | So shalt thou (o Damascus) be desolate, because thou hast forgotte God yi Sauioure, & hast not called to remebraunce ye rock of thi stregth, Wherfore thou hast also set a fayre plate, & grafted a straunge braunch. |
| 17:11 | In the daye when thou diddest plante it, it was greate, and gaue soone the frute of thi sede: But in the daye of haruest, thou shalt reape an heape of sorowes & miseries. |
| 17:12 | Wo be to the multitude of moch people, that russh in like the see, and to the heape of folke, that renne ouer all like greate waters. |
| 17:13 | For though so many people increase as the flowinge waters, and though they be armed, yet they fle farre of, and vanish awaye like the dust with the wynde vpon an hill, and as the whyrle wynde thorow a storme. |
| 17:14 | Though they be fearful at night, yet in the morninge it is gone with the, This is their porcion, that do vs harme, and heretage of them, that robbe vs. |
