Isaiah - Chapter: 33

>
33:1Wo, spoiler! and thou not spoiled, And treacherous! and they dealt not treacherously with thee, When thou dost finish, O spoiler, thou art spoiled, When thou dost finish dealing treacherously, They deal treacherously with thee.
33:2O Jehovah, favour us, for thee we have waited, Be their arm, in the mornings, Yea, our salvation in time of adversity.
33:3From the voice of a multitude fled have peoples, From thine exaltation scattered have been nations.
33:4And gathered hath been your spoil, A gathering of the caterpillar, As a running to and fro of locusts is he running on it.
33:5Set on high is Jehovah, for He is dwelling on high, He filled Zion `with' judgment and righteousness,
33:6And hath been the stedfastness of thy times, The strength of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge, Fear of Jehovah -- it `is' His treasure.
33:7Lo, `Their Ariel,' they have cried without, Messengers of peace do weep bitterly.
33:8Desolated have been highways, Ceased hath he who passeth along the path, He hath broken covenant, He hath despised enemies, He hath not esteemed a man.
33:9Mourned, languished hath the land, Confounded hath been Lebanon, Withered hath been Sharon as a wilderness, And shaking are Bashan and Carmel.
33:10Now, do I arise, saith Jehovah, Now I am exalted, now I am lifted up.
33:11Ye conceive chaff, ye bear stubble, Your spirit! -- fire devoureth you.
33:12And peoples have been `as' burnings of lime, Thorns, as sweepings, with fire they burn.
33:13Hear, ye far off, that which I have done, And know, ye near ones, My might.
33:14Afraid in Zion have been sinners, Seized hath trembling the profane: Who doth dwell for us -- consuming fire, Who doth dwell for us -- burnings of the age?
33:15Whoso is walking righteously, And is speaking uprightly, Kicking against gain of oppressions, Shaking his hands from taking hold on a bribe, Stopping his ear from hearing of blood, And shutting his eyes from looking on evil,
33:16He high places doth inhabit, Strongholds of rock `are' his high tower, His bread hath been given, his waters stedfast.
33:17A king in his beauty, see do thine eyes, They see a land afar off.
33:18Thy heart doth meditate terror, Where `is' he who is counting? Where `is' he who is weighing? Where `is' he who is counting the towers?
33:19The strong people thou seest not, A people deeper of lip than to be understood, Of a scorned tongue, there is no understanding.
33:20See Zion, the city of our meetings, Thine eyes see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, A tent not taken down, Not removed are its pins for ever, And none of its cords are broken.
33:21But there mighty `is' Jehovah for us, A place of rivers -- streams broad of sides, No ship with oars doth go into it, And a mighty ship doth not pass over it.
33:22For Jehovah our judge, Jehovah our lawgiver, Jehovah our king -- He doth save us.
33:23Left have been thy ropes, They strengthen not rightly their mast, They have not spread out a sail, Then apportioned hath been a prey of much spoil, The lame have taken spoil.
33:24Nor doth an inhabitant say, `I was sick,' The people that is dwelling in it, is forgiven of iniquity!

33:1Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou wast not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; and when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
33:2O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.
33:3At the noise of the tumult the people fled; at the lifting up of thyself the nations were scattered.
33:4And your spoil shall be gathered like the gathering of the caterpiller: as the running to and fro of locusts shall he run upon them.
33:5The LORD is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness.
33:6And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.
33:7Behold, their valiant ones shall cry without: the ambassadors of peace shall weep bitterly.
33:8The highways lie waste, the wayfaring man ceaseth: he hath broken the covenant, he hath despised the cities, he regardeth no man.
33:9The earth mourneth and languisheth: Lebanon is ashamed and hewn down: Sharon is like a wilderness; and Bashan and Carmel shake off their fruits.
33:10Now will I rise, saith the LORD; now will I be exalted; now will I lift up myself.
33:11Ye shall conceive chaff, ye shall bring forth stubble: your breath, as fire, shall devour you.
33:12And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
33:13Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.
33:14The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
33:15He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
33:16He shall dwell on high: his place of defence shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.
33:17Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
33:18Thine heart shall meditate terror. Where is the scribe? where is the receiver? where is he that counted the towers?
33:19Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand.
33:20Look upon Zion, the city of our solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
33:21But there the glorious LORD will be unto us a place of broad rivers and streams; wherein shall go no galley with oars, neither shall gallant ship pass thereby.
33:22For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.
33:23Thy tacklings are loosed; they could not well strengthen their mast, they could not spread the sail: then is the prey of a great spoil divided; the lame take the prey.
33:24And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity.

33:1Woe to the destroyer, and you not being destroyed; and to the betrayer, and they did not betray you! When you finish destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, they will betray you.
33:2O Jehovah, be gracious to us. We have hoped in You; be their arm in the mornings, our salvation also in time of distress.
33:3At the sound of the tumult, the peoples fled; at Your exaltation, nations scattered.
33:4And Your prey shall be gathered as the stripping locust gathers; as locusts run to and fro, he also runs about on it.
33:5Jehovah is exalted, for He lives on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.
33:6And He will be the security of your times, strength of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the fear of Jehovah is His treasure.
33:7Behold, their heroes cry outside; the envoys of peace shall weep bitterly.
33:8The highways are deserted; the path crosser ceases. He has broken the covenant; he has rejected cities; he has not respected man.
33:9The land mourns and droops; Lebanon is ashamed; Sharon withers like a wilderness; Bashan is shaken out; also Carmel.
33:10Now I will rise up, says Jehovah. Now I will be exalted; now I will be lifted up.
33:11You shall conceive chaff; you shall bear stumble; your fiery breath shall devour you.
33:12And peoples shall be as burnings of lime; as thorns cut away, they shall be burned in fire.
33:13Distant ones, hear what I have done; and you near ones, know My might.
33:14The sinners of Zion are afraid; terror has seized profane ones; who of us shall tarry with consuming fire? Who of us shall tarry with everlasting burnings?
33:15He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly; he who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands free from taking the bribe, who stops his ear from hearing of blood, and shuts his eyes from looking at evil.
33:16He shall live on high; strongholds of rocks will be his retreat; his bread shall be given; his waters are faithful.
33:17Your eyes shall see the king in his beauty; they shall see a land that is very far off.
33:18Your heart shall ponder terror: Where is the scribe? Where is he weighing? Where is he counting the towers?
33:19You shall not see the fierce people, from hearing a people of a difficult lip, of a foreign tongue, that none understands.
33:20Behold, Zion, the city of our appointed meetings! Your eyes shall see Jerusalem, a quiet home. a tent that shall not be moved; its stakes shall not be pulled up forever, nor shall any of its cords be pulled off.
33:21But majestic Jehovah will place there for us a place of rivers and streams, broad on both hands; a ship with oars shall not go in it, and a majestic boat shall not pass through it.
33:22For Jehovah is our judge; Jehovah is our lawgiver; Jehovah is our king; He will save us.
33:23Your ropes are loosened; they do not hold the base of their mast; they could not spread the sail. Then the prey of much plunder shall be divided; the lame shall seize on the spoil.
33:24And an inhabitant shall not say, I am sick; the people who live in it shall not say , iniquity is taken away.
