Isaiah - Chapter: 44


44:1	Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
44:2	Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
44:3	For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
44:4	And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
44:5	One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
44:6	Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
44:7	And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
44:8	Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
44:9	They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
44:10	Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?
44:11	Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.
44:12	The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.
44:13	The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
44:14	He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.
44:15	Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.
44:16	He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
44:17	And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
44:18	They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
44:19	And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
44:20	He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
44:21	Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.
44:22	I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.
44:23	Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.
44:24	Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
44:25	That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
44:26	That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
44:27	That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:
44:28	That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.


44:1	ועתה שׁמע יעקב עבדי וישׂראל בחרתי׃
44:2	כה אמר יהוה עשׂך ויצרך מבטן יעזרך אל תירא עבדי יעקב וישׁרון בחרתי׃
44:3	כי אצק מים על צמא ונזלים על יבשׁה אצק רוחי על זרעך וברכתי על צאצאיך׃
44:4	וצמחו בבין חציר כערבים על יבלי מים׃
44:5	זה יאמר ליהוה אני וזה יקרא בשׁם יעקב וזה יכתב ידו ליהוה ובשׁם ישׂראל יכנה׃
44:6	כה אמר יהוה מלך ישׂראל וגאלו יהוה צבאות אני ראשׁון ואני אחרון ומבלעדי אין אלהים׃
44:7	ומי כמוני יקרא ויגידה ויערכה לי משׂומי עם עולם ואתיות ואשׁר תבאנה יגידו׃
44:8	אל תפחדו ואל תרהו הלא מאז השׁמעתיך והגדתי ואתם עדי הישׁ אלוה מבלעדי ואין צור בל ידעתי׃
44:9	יצרי פסל כלם תהו וחמודיהם בל יועילו ועדיהם המה בל יראו ובל ידעו למען יבשׁו׃
44:10	מי יצר אל ופסל נסך לבלתי הועיל׃
44:11	הן כל חבריו יבשׁו וחרשׁים המה מאדם יתקבצו כלם יעמדו יפחדו יבשׁו יחד׃
44:12	חרשׁ ברזל מעצד ופעל בפחם ובמקבות יצרהו ויפעלהו בזרוע כחו גם רעב ואין כח לא שׁתה מים וייעף׃
44:13	חרשׁ עצים נטה קו יתארהו בשׂרד יעשׂהו במקצעות ובמחוגה יתארהו ויעשׂהו כתבנית אישׁ כתפארת אדם לשׁבת בית׃
44:14	לכרת לו ארזים ויקח תרזה ואלון ויאמץ לו בעצי יער נטע ארן וגשׁם יגדל׃
44:15	והיה לאדם לבער ויקח מהם ויחם אף ישׂיק ואפה לחם אף יפעל אל וישׁתחו עשׂהו פסל ויסגד׃
44:16	חציו שׂרף במו אשׁ על חציו בשׂר יאכל יצלה צלי וישׂבע אף יחם ויאמר האח חמותי ראיתי אור׃
44:17	ושׁאריתו לאל עשׂה לפסלו יסגוד לו וישׁתחו ויתפלל אליו ויאמר הצילני כי אלי אתה׃
44:18	לא ידעו ולא יבינו כי טח מראות עיניהם מהשׂכיל לבתם׃
44:19	ולא ישׁיב אל לבו ולא דעת ולא תבונה לאמר חציו שׂרפתי במו אשׁ ואף אפיתי על גחליו לחם אצלה בשׂר ואכל ויתרו לתועבה אעשׂה לבול עץ אסגוד׃
44:20	רעה אפר לב הותל הטהו ולא יציל את נפשׁו ולא יאמר הלוא שׁקר בימיני׃
44:21	זכר אלה יעקב וישׂראל כי עבדי אתה יצרתיך עבד לי אתה ישׂראל לא תנשׁני׃
44:22	מחיתי כעב פשׁעיך וכענן חטאותיך שׁובה אלי כי גאלתיך׃
44:23	רנו שׁמים כי עשׂה יהוה הריעו תחתיות ארץ פצחו הרים רנה יער וכל עץ בו כי גאל יהוה יעקב ובישׂראל יתפאר׃
44:24	כה אמר יהוה גאלך ויצרך מבטן אנכי יהוה עשׂה כל נטה שׁמים לבדי רקע הארץ מי אתי׃
44:25	מפר אתות בדים וקסמים יהולל משׁיב חכמים אחור ודעתם ישׂכל׃
44:26	מקים דבר עבדו ועצת מלאכיו ישׁלים האמר לירושׁלם תושׁב ולערי יהודה תבנינה וחרבותיה אקומם׃
44:27	האמר לצולה חרבי ונהרתיך אובישׁ׃
44:28	האמר לכורשׁ רעי וכל חפצי ישׁלם ולאמר לירושׁלם תבנה והיכל תוסד׃


44:1	And now, hear, O Jacob, My servant, And Israel, whom I have fixed on:
44:2	Thus said Jehovah, thy Maker, and thy Former, From the womb He doth help thee; Fear not, my servant Jacob, And Jeshurun, whom I have fixed on.
44:3	For I pour waters on a thirsty one, And floods on a dry land, I pour My Spirit on thy seed, And My blessing on thine offspring.
44:4	And they have sprung up as among grass, As willows by streams of water.
44:5	This `one' saith, For Jehovah I `am', And this calleth `himself' by the name of Jacob, And this `one' writeth `with' his hand, `For Jehovah,' and by the name of Israel surnameth himself.
44:6	Thus said Jehovah, king of Israel, And his Redeemer, Jehovah of Hosts: `I `am' the first, and I the last, And besides Me there is no God.
44:7	And who as I, doth call and declare it, And arrange it for Me, Since My placing the people of antiquity, And things that are coming, And those that do come, declare they to them?
44:8	Fear not, nor be afraid, Have I not from that time caused thee to hear, and declared? And ye `are' My witnesses, Is there a God besides Me? yea, there is none, A Rock I have not known.
44:9	Framers of a graven image `are' all of them emptiness, And their desirable things do not profit, And their own witnesses they `are', They see not, nor know, that they may be ashamed.
44:10	Who hath formed a god, And a molten image poured out -- not profitable?
44:11	Lo, all his companions are ashamed, As to artizans -- they `are' of men, All of them gather together, they stand up, They fear, they are ashamed together.
44:12	He hath wrought iron `with' an axe, And hath wrought with coals, And with hammers doth form it, And doth work it by his powerful arm, Yea, he is hungry, and there is no power, He doth not drink water, and he is wearied.
44:13	He hath wrought `with' wood, He hath stretched out a rule, He doth mark it out with a line, He maketh it with carving tools, And with a compass he marketh it out, And maketh it according to the form of a man, According to the beauty of a man, To remain in the house.
44:14	Cutting down to himself cedars, He taketh also a cypress, and an oak, And he strengtheneth `it' for himself Among the trees of a forest, He hath planted an ash, and the shower doth nourish `it'.
44:15	And it hath been for man to burn, And he taketh of them, and becometh warm, Yea, he kindleth `it', and hath baked bread, Yea, he maketh a god, and boweth himself, He hath made it a graven image, And he falleth down to it.
44:16	Half of it he hath burnt in the fire, By `this' half of it he eateth flesh, He roasteth a roasting, and is satisfied, Yea, he is warm, and saith: `Aha, I have become warm, I have enjoyed the light.
44:17	And its remnant for a god he hath made -- For his graven image, He falleth down to it, and worshippeth, And prayeth unto it, and he saith, `Deliver me, for my god thou `art'.'
44:18	They have not known, nor do they understand, For He hath daubed their eyes from seeing, Their heart from acting wisely.
44:19	And none doth turn `it' back unto his heart, Nor hath knowledge nor understanding to say, `Half of it I have burned in the fire, Yea, also, I have baked bread over its coals, I roast flesh and I eat, And its remnant for an abomination I make, To the stock of a tree I fall down.'
44:20	Feeding on ashes, the heart is deceived, It hath turned him aside, And he delivereth not his soul, nor saith: `Is there not a lie in my right hand?'
44:21	Remember these, O Jacob, and Israel, For My servant thou `art', I formed thee, a servant to Me thou `art', O Israel, thou dost not forget Me.
44:22	I have blotted out, as `by' a thick cloud, Thy transgressions, And as `by' a cloud thy sins, Return unto Me, for I have redeemed thee.
44:23	Sing, O heavens, for Jehovah hath wrought, Shout, O lower parts of earth, Break forth, O mountains, with singing, Forest, and every tree in it, For Jehovah hath redeemed Jacob, And in Israel He doth beautify Himself.
44:24	Thus said Jehovah, thy redeemer, And thy framer from the womb: `I `am' Jehovah, doing all things, Stretching out the heavens by Myself, Spreading out the earth -- who `is' with Me?
44:25	Making void the tokens of devisers, And diviners it maketh mad, Turning the wise backward, And their knowledge it maketh foolish.
44:26	Confirming the word of His servant, The counsel of His messengers it perfecteth, Who is saying of Jerusalem, She is inhabited, And of cities of Judah, They shall be built, and her wastes I raise up,
44:27	Who is saying to the deep, Be dry, and thy rivers I cause to dry up,
44:28	Who is saying of Cyrus, My shepherd, And all my delight He doth perfect, So as to say of Jerusalem, Thou art built, And of the temple, Thou art founded.
