Isaiah - Chapter: 48


48:1	Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.
48:2	For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.
48:3	I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.
48:4	Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;
48:5	I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.
48:6	Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.
48:7	They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.
48:8	Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.
48:9	For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.
48:10	Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
48:11	For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.
48:12	Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.
48:13	Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.
48:14	All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.
48:15	I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.
48:16	Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.
48:17	Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.
48:18	O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
48:19	Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.
48:20	Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.
48:21	And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.
48:22	There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.


48:1	שׁמעו זאת בית יעקב הנקראים בשׁם ישׂראל וממי יהודה יצאו הנשׁבעים בשׁם יהוה ובאלהי ישׂראל יזכירו לא באמת ולא בצדקה׃
48:2	כי מעיר הקדשׁ נקראו ועל אלהי ישׂראל נסמכו יהוה צבאות שׁמו׃
48:3	הראשׁנות מאז הגדתי ומפי יצאו ואשׁמיעם פתאם עשׂיתי ותבאנה׃
48:4	מדעתי כי קשׁה אתה וגיד ברזל ערפך ומצחך נחושׁה׃
48:5	ואגיד לך מאז בטרם תבוא השׁמעתיך פן תאמר עצבי עשׂם ופסלי ונסכי צום׃
48:6	שׁמעת חזה כלה ואתם הלוא תגידו השׁמעתיך חדשׁות מעתה ונצרות ולא ידעתם׃
48:7	עתה נבראו ולא מאז ולפני יום ולא שׁמעתם פן תאמר הנה ידעתין׃
48:8	גם לא שׁמעת גם לא ידעת גם מאז לא פתחה אזנך כי ידעתי בגוד תבגוד ופשׁע מבטן קרא׃
48:9	למען שׁמי אאריך אפי ותהלתי אחטם לך לבלתי הכריתך׃
48:10	הנה צרפתיך ולא בכסף בחרתיך בכור עני׃
48:11	למעני למעני אעשׂה כי איך יחל וכבודי לאחר לא אתן׃
48:12	שׁמע אלי יעקב וישׂראל מקראי אני הוא אני ראשׁון אף אני אחרון׃
48:13	אף ידי יסדה ארץ וימיני טפחה שׁמים קרא אני אליהם יעמדו יחדו׃
48:14	הקבצו כלכם ושׁמעו מי בהם הגיד את אלה יהוה אהבו יעשׂה חפצו בבבל וזרעו כשׂדים׃
48:15	אני אני דברתי אף קראתיו הביאתיו והצליח דרכו׃
48:16	קרבו אלי שׁמעו זאת לא מראשׁ בסתר דברתי מעת היותה שׁם אני ועתה אדני יהוה שׁלחני ורוחו׃
48:17	כה אמר יהוה גאלך קדושׁ ישׂראל אני יהוה אלהיך מלמדך להועיל מדריכך בדרך תלך׃
48:18	לוא הקשׁבת למצותי ויהי כנהר שׁלומך וצדקתך כגלי הים׃
48:19	ויהי כחול זרעך וצאצאי מעיך כמעתיו לא יכרת ולא ישׁמד שׁמו מלפני׃
48:20	צאו מבבל ברחו מכשׂדים בקול רנה הגידו השׁמיעו זאת הוציאוה עד קצה הארץ אמרו גאל יהוה עבדו יעקב׃
48:21	ולא צמאו בחרבות הוליכם מים מצור הזיל למו ויבקע צור ויזבו מים׃
48:22	אין שׁלום אמר יהוה לרשׁעים׃


48:1	Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, Who are called by the name of Israel, And from the waters of Judah came out, Who are swearing by the name of Jehovah, And of the God of Israel make mention, Not in truth nor in righteousness.
48:2	For from the Holy City they have been called, And on the God of Israel been supported, Jehovah of Hosts `is' His name.
48:3	The former things from that time I declared, And from my mouth they have gone forth, And I proclaim them, Suddenly I have done, and it cometh.
48:4	From my knowing that thou art obstinate, And a sinew of iron thy neck, And thy forehead brass,
48:5	And I declare to thee from that time, Before it cometh I have caused thee to hear, Lest thou say, `Mine idol hath done them, And my graven image, And my molten image did command them.
48:6	Thou hast heard, see the whole of it, And ye, do ye not declare? I have caused thee to hear new things from this time, And things reserved that ye knew not.
48:7	Now they have been produced and not from that time, Yea, before the day, and thou hast not heard them, Lest thou say, `Lo, I have known them.'
48:8	Yea, thou hast not heard, Yea, thou hast not known, Yea, from that time not opened hath thine ear, For I have known thou dealest treacherously, And `Transgressor from the belly,' One is crying to thee.
48:9	For My name's sake I defer Mine anger, And My praise I restrain for thee, So as not to cut thee off.
48:10	Lo, I have refined thee, and not with silver, I have chosen thee in a furnace of affliction.
48:11	For My sake, for Mine own sake, I do `it', For how is it polluted? And Mine honour to another I give not.
48:12	Hearken to me, O Jacob, and Israel, My called one, I `am' He, I `am' first, and I `am' last;
48:13	Also, My hand hath founded earth, And My right hand stretched out the heavens, I am calling unto them, they stand together.
48:14	Be gathered all of you, and hear, Who among them did declare these things? Jehovah hath loved him, He doth His pleasure on Babylon, And His arm `is on' the Chaldeans.
48:15	I -- I have spoken, yea, I have called him, I have brought him in, And he hath made prosperous his way.
48:16	Come ye near unto me, hear this, Not from the beginning in secret spake I, From the time of its being, there `am' I, And now the Lord Jehovah hath sent me, and His Spirit.
48:17	Thus said Jehovah, thy redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, `I `am' Jehovah thy God, teaching thee to profit, Causing thee to tread in the way thou goest.
48:18	O that thou hadst attended to My commands, Then as a river is thy peace, And thy righteousness as billows of the sea,
48:19	And as sand is thy seed, And the offspring of thy bowels as its gravel, Not cut off nor destroyed his name before Me.
48:20	Go out from Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans, With a voice of singing declare, Cause ye this to be heard, Bring it forth unto the end of the earth, Say, Redeemed hath Jehovah His servant Jacob.
48:21	And they have not thirsted in waste places, He hath caused them to go on, Waters from a rock he hath caused to flow to them, Yea, he cleaveth a rock, and flow do waters.
48:22	There is no peace, said Jehovah, to the wicked!
