| 48:1 | Heare this, O thou house of Iacob: ye that are called by the name of Israel, and are come out of one stocke with Iuda: which sweare by the name of the Lorde, and beare witnes by the God of Israel (but not with trueth and ryght) |
| 48:2 | which are called fremen of the holy cytie, & are grounded vpon the God of Israel, whose name is the Lord of Hostes. |
| 48:3 | The thinges that I shewed you euer sence the begynnynge haue I not brought them to passe, immediatly as they came out of my mouth, and declared them, and they are come? |
| 48:4 | Howbeit, I knowe that thou art obstinate, and that thy neck hath an yron veyne, & that thy browe is of brasse. |
| 48:5 | Neuerthelesse, I haue euer sence the begynninge shewed the of thinges for to come, and declared them vnto the, or euer they came to passe: that thou shuldest not saye: myne Idol hath done it, my carued or molten ymage hath shewed it. |
| 48:6 | Thou herdest it before, and beholde, It is come to passe, and whether can ye prophecye of thynges to come? But as for me, I tolde the before at the begynnynge, newe and secret thynges, that thou knowest not of. |
| 48:7 | And some done nowe, not of olde tyme, wherof thou neuer herdest before they were brought to passe: that thou canst not saye: Beholde, I knewe of them: |
| 48:8 | Moreouer, there be some wherof thou hast nether hearde ner knowne, nether haue they bene opened vnto thyne eares afore tyme. For I knewe that thou woldest maliciously offende, therfore haue I called the a transgressoure, euen from thy mothers wombe. |
| 48:9 | Neuertheles, for my names sake, I wyll wtdrawe my wrath: & it shalbe for myne honours sake, yf I paciently forbeare the, and do not rote the out. |
| 48:10 | Beholde, I haue pourged the, yet not as siluer. I haue chosen the in the fyer of affliccyon: |
| 48:11 | and that onely for myne awne sake: yee, euen for myne awne sake will I do this: or els, what dishonour wolde they do to my name? |
| 48:12 | Herken vnto me, O Iacob, and Israel whom I haue called, I am he. I am euen he that is, I am the fyrst & the last. |
| 48:13 | My hande hath layde the foundacyon of the earth: and my right hande hath spanned ouer the heauens. Assone as I call them they are there. |
| 48:14 | Gather you all together, and herken: Which of yonder goddes hath declared this? The Lorde hath a loue vnto him, and he shall perfourme hys wyll agaynst Babel, & declare hys power agaynst the Chaldees. |
| 48:15 | I my selfe alone, euen I haue told you this before. Yee, I dyd call hym & bringe hym forth: and he shall geue a prosperous iorney. |
| 48:16 | Come nye and heare thys: haue I spoken eny thing darckly, sens the beginnynge? When a thyng beginneth, I am there. Wherfore, the Lorde God and hys sprete hath sent me. |
| 48:17 | And thus sayth the Lord God thy redemer, the holy one of Israel: I am the Lorde thy God, which teach the profitable thynges, and leade the the waye, that thou shuldst go. |
| 48:18 | O that thou hadst regarded my commaundementes, then had thy welthynes bene as the water streame: and thy righteousnes as the waues flowynge in the see: |
| 48:19 | Thy seede also had be like as the sande in the see, and the frute of thy body lyke the grauelle stones therof. His name shulde not be roted out: nor destroyed before me. |
| 48:20 | Go awaye from Babilon, flye from the Chaldees wt a mery voyce speake of this, declare it abroade, and go forth vnto the ende of the worlde, saye: The Lorde hath redemed hys seruaunt Iacob, |
| 48:21 | that they suffred no thurst, he lead them thorow the wildernes, and caused the waters to flowe out vnto them from out of the rocke. He claue the rocke a sonder, and the water gusshed out. |
| 48:22 | As for the vngodly, they haue no peace, sayth the Lorde. |
| 48:1 | The hows of Jacob, that ben clepid bi the name of Israel, and yeden out of the watris of Juda, here these thingis, whiche sweren in the name of the Lord, and han mynde on God of Israel, not in treuthe, nether in riytfulnesse. |
| 48:2 | For thei ben clepid of the hooli citee, and ben stablischid on the God of Israel, the Lord of oostis is his name. |
| 48:3 | Fro that tyme Y telde the former thingis, and tho yeden out of my mouth; and Y made tho knowun; sudenli Y wrouyte, and tho thingis camen. |
| 48:4 | For Y wiste that thou art hard, and thi nol is a senewe of irun, and thi forhed is of bras. |
| 48:5 | Y biforseide to thee fro that tyme, bifore that tho thingis camen, Y schewide to thee, lest perauenture thou woldist seie, Myn idols diden these thingis, and my grauun ymagis and my yotun |
| 48:6 | ymagis senten these thingis whiche thou herdist. Se thou alle thingis, but ye telden not. Y made herd newe thyngis to thee fro that tyme, and thingis ben kept whiche thou knowist not; |
| 48:7 | now tho ben maad of nouyt, and not fro that tyme, and bifor the dai, and thou herdist not tho thingis; lest perauenture thou seie, Lo! Y knew tho thingis. |
| 48:8 | Nether thou herdist, nether thou knewist, nether thin eere was openyd fro that tyme; for Y woot, that thou trespassynge schal trespasse, and Y clepide thee a trespassour fro the wombe. |
| 48:9 | For my name Y schal make fer my strong veniaunce, and with my preysyng Y schal refreyne thee, lest thou perische. |
| 48:10 | Lo! Y haue sode thee, but not as siluer; Y chees thee in the chymeney of pouert. |
| 48:11 | Y schal do for me, that Y be not blasfemyd, and Y schal not yyue my glorie to another. |
| 48:12 | Jacob and Israel, whom Y clepe, here thou me; Y my silf, Y am the firste and Y am the laste. |
| 48:13 | And myn hond foundide the erthe, and my riyt hond mat heuenes; Y schal clepe tho, and tho schulen stonde togidere. |
| 48:14 | Alle ye be gaderid togidere, and here; who of hem telde these thingis? The Lord louyde hym, he schal do his wille in Babiloyne, and his arm in Caldeis. |
| 48:15 | Y, Y spak, and clepide hym; Y brouyte hym, and his weie was dressid. |
| 48:16 | Neiye ye to me, and here ye these thingis; at the bigynnyng Y spak not in priuete; fro tyme, bifore that thingis weren maad, Y was there, and now the Lord God and his Spirit sente me. |
| 48:17 | The Lord, thin ayen biere, the hooli of Israel, seith these thingis, Y am thi Lord God, techynge thee profitable thingis, and Y gouerne thee in the weie, wher ynne thou goist. |
| 48:18 | Y wolde that thou haddist perseyued my comaundementis, thi pees hadde be maad as flood, and thi riytfulnesse as the swolowis of the see; |
| 48:19 | and thi seed hadde be as grauel, and the generacioun of thi wombe, as the litle stoonys therof; the name of it hadde not perischid, and hadde not be al to-brokun fro my face. |
| 48:20 | Go ye out of Babiloyne, fle ye fro Caldeis; telle ye in the vois of ful out ioiying; make ye this herd, and bere ye it `til to the laste partis of erthe; seie ye, The Lord ayenbouyte his seruaunt Jacob. |
| 48:21 | Thei thirstiden not in desert, whanne he ladde hem out; he brouyte forth to hem watir of a stoon, and he departide the stoon, and watris flowiden. |

| 48:8 | Morouer there be some wherof thou hast nether herde ner knowne, nether haue they bene opened vnto thine eares afore tyme. For I knew that thou woldest maliciousli offende, therfore haue I called the a transgressoure, euen from thy mothers wombe. |
| 48:9 | Neuertheles for my names sake, I haue withdrawen my wrath, and for myne honours sake I haue ouersene the, so that I haue not rooted the out. |
| 48:10 | Beholde I haue pourged the, and not for moneye. I haue chosen the in the fyre of pouerte, |
| 48:11 | And that only for myne owne sake, for I geue myne Honoure to none other, that thou shuldest not despise me. |
| 48:12 | Herken vnto me o Iacob, & Israel who I haue called. I am euen he that is, I am ye first and the last. |
| 48:13 | My honde is the foundacion of the earth, & my right honde spanneth ouer the heauens. As soone as I called the they were there. |
| 48:14 | Gather you all together, ad herken: Which of yonder goddes hath declared this, that the LORDE wil do by the kinge of Babilon, (whom he loueth & fauoureth) and by the Caldees his arme? |
| 48:15 | I my self alone haue tolde you this before. Yee I shal call him and bringe him forth, & geue him a prosperous iourneye. |
| 48:16 | Come nye & heare this: haue I spoke eny thige darckly sence the begynnynge? whe a thige begynneth, I am there. Wherfore the LORDE God with his sprete hath sent me, |
| 48:17 | And thus saieth the LORDE thine avenger, the holyone of Israel: I am ye LORDE thy God, which teach the profitable thinges, and lede ye the waye, that thou shuldest go |
| 48:18 | Yf thou wilt now regarde my comaundement, thy welthynes shalbe as the water streame: & thy rightuousnes as the wawes flowinge in the see. |
| 48:19 | Thy sede shalbe like as the sonde in the see, & the frute of thy body, like the grauel stones therof: Thy name shal not be roted out, nor destroyed before me. |
| 48:20 | Ye shal go awaye from Babilon, and escape the Caldees with a mery voyce. This shalbe spoken of, declared abrode, & go forth vnto the ende of the worlde: so that it shalbe sayde: The LORDE hath defended his seruaunte Iacob, |
| 48:21 | that they suffred no thurste, whe they trauayled in the wildernesse. He claue the rockes a sonder, and the water gusshed out. |
