Isaiah - Chapter: 57

>
57:1The righteous hath perished, And there is none laying `it' to heart, And men of kindness are gathered, Without any considering that from the face of evil Gathered is the righteous one.
57:2He entereth into peace, they rest on their beds, `Each' is going straightforward.
57:3And ye, come near hither, O sons of a sorceress, seed of an adulterer, Even thou dost commit whoredom.
57:4Against whom do ye sport yourselves? Against whom enlarge ye the mouth? Prolong ye the tongue? Are not ye children of transgression? a false seed?
57:5Who are inflamed among oaks, under every green tree, Slaughtering the children in valleys, Under clefts of the rocks.
57:6Among the smooth things of a brook `is' thy portion, They -- they `are' thy lot, Also to them thou hast poured out an oblation, Thou hast caused a present to ascend, For these things am I comforted?
57:7On a mountain, high and exalted, Thou hast set thy couch, Also thither thou hast gone up to make a sacrifice.
57:8And behind the door, and the post, Thou hast set up thy memorial, For from Me thou hast removed, and goest up, Thou hast enlarged thy couch, And dost covenant for thyself among them, Thou hast loved their couch, the station thou sawest,
57:9And goest joyfully to the king in ointment, And dost multiply thy perfumes, And sendest thine ambassadors afar off, And humblest thyself unto Sheol.
57:10In the greatness of thy way thou hast laboured, Thou hast not said, `It is desperate.' The life of thy hand thou hast found, Therefore thou hast not been sick.
57:11And of whom hast thou been afraid, and fearest, That thou liest, and Me hast not remembered? Thou hast not laid `it' to thy heart, Am not I silent, even from of old? And Me thou fearest not?
57:12I declare thy righteousness, and thy works, And they do not profit thee.
57:13When thou criest, let thy gatherings deliver thee, And all of them carry away doth wind, Take away doth vanity, And whoso is trusting in Me inheriteth the land, And doth possess My holy mountain.
57:14And he hath said, `Raise up, raise up, prepare a way, Lift a stumbling-block out of the way of My people.'
57:15For thus said the high and exalted One, Inhabiting eternity, and holy `is' His name: `In the high and holy place I dwell, And with the bruised and humble of spirit, To revive the spirit of the humble, And to revive the heart of bruised ones,'
57:16For, not to the age do I strive, nor for ever am I wroth, For the spirit from before Me is feeble, And the souls I have made.
57:17For the iniquity of his dishonest gain, I have been wroth, and I smite him, Hiding -- and am wroth, And he goeth on turning back in the way of his heart.
57:18His ways I have seen, and I heal him, yea, I lead him, And recompense comforts to him and to his mourning ones.
57:19Producing the fruit of the lips, `Peace, peace,' to the far off, and to the near, And I have healed him, said Jehovah.
57:20And the wicked `are' as the driven out sea, For to rest it is not able, And its waters cast out filth and mire.
57:21There is no peace, said my God, to the wicked!

57:1The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
57:2He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
57:3But draw near hither, ye sons of the sorceress, the seed of the adulterer and the whore.
57:4Against whom do ye sport yourselves? against whom make ye a wide mouth, and draw out the tongue? are ye not children of transgression, a seed of falsehood,
57:5Enflaming yourselves with idols under every green tree, slaying the children in the valleys under the clifts of the rocks?
57:6Among the smooth stones of the stream is thy portion; they, they are thy lot: even to them hast thou poured a drink offering, thou hast offered a meat offering. Should I receive comfort in these?
57:7Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
57:8Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy remembrance: for thou hast discovered thyself to another than me, and art gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.
57:9And thou wentest to the king with ointment, and didst increase thy perfumes, and didst send thy messengers far off, and didst debase thyself even unto hell.
57:10Thou art wearied in the greatness of thy way; yet saidst thou not, There is no hope: thou hast found the life of thine hand; therefore thou wast not grieved.
57:11And of whom hast thou been afraid or feared, that thou hast lied, and hast not remembered me, nor laid it to thy heart? have not I held my peace even of old, and thou fearest me not?
57:12I will declare thy righteousness, and thy works; for they shall not profit thee.
57:13When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain;
57:14And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the stumblingblock out of the way of my people.
57:15For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
57:16For I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
57:17For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart.
57:18I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
57:19I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
57:20But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.
57:21There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

57:1The righteous one perishes, and no one lays it to heart; yea, merciful men are gathered, with no one discerning that the righteous is gathered from the face of evil.
57:2He shall enter peace; they shall rest on their couches, walking in his uprightness.
57:3But you, draw near here, sons of the sorceress, seed of the adulterer and playing the harlot.
57:4On whom are you making sport? On whom do you make a wide mouth and draw out the tongue? Are you not children of transgression, a lying seed,
57:5being inflamed with idols under every green tree, slaughtering the children in the torrent beds, under the clefts of the rocks?
57:6Your lot is in the torrent's smoothness; they, they are your portion; even to them you have poured a drink offering; you have offered a food offering. Should I be consoled over these?
57:7You have set your couch on a lofty and high mountain; yea, you went up there to sacrifice a sacrifice.
57:8And you have set up your memorial behind the door and post. For you uncovered yourself from Me and went up; you enlarged your couch; and you cut covenant with them; you loved their couch; at a hand you looked.
57:9And you went to the king with oil and multiplied your perfume. And you sent your messengers far away, and lowered yourself to Sheol.
57:10You were wearied in the length of your way; you did not say, Despair! You found the life of your hand, so you were not sick.
57:11And whom have you dreaded and feared? You have lied and have not remembered Me, not laying it on your heart. Have I not been silent, even from forever, and you have not feared Me?
57:12I will reveal your righteousness and your works, and they will not benefit you.
57:13When you cry, let your gathering deliver you; but the wind shall bear away all of them; vanity takes them. But he who takes refuge in Me shall inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.
57:14And he shall say, Raise up! Raise up! Clear the way! Make the stumbling block rise from the way of My people.
57:15For so says the high and lofty One who inhabits eternity, and His name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, even with the contrite and humble of spirit; to make live the spirit of the humble and to make live the heart of the contrite ones.
57:16For I will not contend forever, nor will I always be angry, for the spirit would faint before Me, even the breaths I have made.
57:17For I was angry and struck him for the iniquity of his gain; I hid Myself and was angry; yet he went, turning in his heart's way.
57:18His ways I have seen, but I will heal him, and will lead him and restore comforting to him and to his mourners.
57:19I create the fruit of the lips: peace, peace, to the ones far off and near, says Jehovah, and I will heal him.
57:20But the wicked are like the driven sea, which cannot be quiet, and its waves cast up mire and dirt.
57:21There is no peace to the wicked, says my God.
