| 11:1 | The word that came to Ieremiah from the Lord, saying, |
| 11:2 | Heare yee the words of this Couenant, and speake vnto the men of Iudah, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem. |
| 11:3 | And say thou vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Cursed bee the man that obeyeth not the words of this Couenant, |
| 11:4 | Which I commaunded your fathers in the day that I brought them foorth out of the land of Egypt, from the yron furnace, saying, Obey my voyce, and doe them, according to all which I command you: so shall yee be my people, and I will be your God. |
| 11:5 | That I may performe the othe which I haue sworne vnto your fathers, to giue them a land flowing with milke and honie, as it is this day: then answered I, and said, So bee it, O Lord. |
| 11:6 | Then the Lord said vnto me, Proclaime all these wordes in the cities of Iudah, and in the streets of Ierusalem, saying, Heare ye the words of this Couenant, and doe them. |
| 11:7 | For I earnestly protested vnto your fathers, in the day that I brought them vp out of the land of Egypt, euen vnto this day, rising earely and protesting, saying, Obey my voice. |
| 11:8 | Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their eare: but walked euery one in the imagination of their euill heart: therefore I will bring vpon them all the words of this Couenant, which I commaunded them to doe; but they did them not. |
| 11:9 | And the Lord said vnto me, A conspiracie is found among the men of Iudah, and among the inhabitants of Ierusalem. |
| 11:10 | They are turned backe to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to heare my wordes: and they went after other gods to serue them: the house of Israel, and the house of Iudah haue broken my Couenant, which I made with their fathers. |
| 11:11 | Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Behold, I will bring euill vpon them which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall crie vnto mee, I will not hearken vnto them. |
| 11:12 | Then shall the cities of Iudah, and inhabitants of Ierusalem goe, and crie vnto the gods vnto whom they offer incense; but they shall not saue them at all in the time of their trouble. |
| 11:13 | For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Iudah, and according to the number of the streetes of Ierusalem haue ye set vp altars to that shamefull thing, euen altars to burne incense vnto Baal. |
| 11:14 | Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift vp a cry or prayer for them: for I will not heare them in the time that they crie vnto mee for their trouble. |
| 11:15 | What hath my beloued to doe in mine house, seeing shee hath wrought lewdnesse with many? and the holy flesh is passed from thee: when thou doest euill, then thou reioycest. |
| 11:16 | The Lord called thy name, A greene oliue tree, faire and of goodly fruite: with the noise of a great tumult hee hath kindled fire vpon it, and the branches of it are broken. |
| 11:17 | For the Lord of hostes that planted thee, hath pronounced euill against thee, for the euill of the house of Israel, and of the house of Iudah, which they haue done against themselues to prouoke mee to anger in offering incense vnto Baal. |
| 11:18 | And the Lord hath giuen mee knowledge of it, and I knowe it, then thou shewedst me their doings. |
| 11:19 | But I was like a lambe or an oxe that is brought to the slaughter, and I knew not that they had deuised deuices against me, saying; Let vs destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let vs cut him off from the land of the liuing, that his name may be no more remembred. |
| 11:20 | But, O Lord of hostes, that iudgest righteously, that tryest the reines, and the heart; let me see thy vengeance on them, for vnto thee haue I reuealed my cause. |
| 11:21 | Therefore thus saith the Lord of the men of Anathoth, that seeke thy life, saying; Prophecie not in the Name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hand: |
| 11:22 | Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I wil punish them: the young men shall die by the sword, their sonnes and their daughters shall die by famine. |
| 11:23 | And there shall be no remnant of them, for I will bring euill vpon the men of Anathoth, euen the yere of their visitation. |
| 11:1 | The worde that came to Ieremiah from the Lord, saying, |
| 11:2 | Heare ye the wordes of this couenant, and speake vnto the men of Iudah, and to the inhabitants of Ierusalem, |
| 11:3 | And say thou vnto them, Thus sayeth the Lord God of Israel, Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the wordes of this couenant, |
| 11:4 | Which I commanded vnto your fathers, when I brought them out of the lande of Egypt, from the yron fornace, saying, Obey my voyce, and doe according to all these things, which I commande you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God, |
| 11:5 | That I may confirme the othe, that I haue sworne vnto your fathers, to giue them a lande, which floweth with milke and hony, as appeareth this day. Then answered I and sayde, So be it, O Lord. |
| 11:6 | Then the Lord saide vnto me, Cry all these words in the cities of Iudah, and in the streetes of Ierusalem, saying, Heare yee the words of this couenant, and doe them. |
| 11:7 | For I haue protested vnto your fathers, whe I brought them vp out of the land of Egypt vnto this day, rising earely and protesting, saying, Obey my voyce. |
| 11:8 | Neuerthelesse they would not obey, nor encline their eare: but euery one walked in the stubbernesse of his wicked heart: therefore I will bring vpon them all the wordes of this couenant, which I commanded them to do, but they did it not. |
| 11:9 | And the Lord sayd vnto me, A conspiracie is found among the men of Iudah, and among the inhabitants of Ierusalem. |
| 11:10 | They are turned backe to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to heare my wordes: and they went after other gods to serue them: thus the house of Israel, and the house of Iudah haue broken my couenant, which I made with their fathers. |
| 11:11 | Therefore thus sayth the Lord, Beholde, I will bring a plague vpon them, which they shall not be able to escape, and though they crye vnto me, I will not heare them. |
| 11:12 | Then shall the cities of Iudah, and the inhabitants of Ierusalem goe, and crie vnto the gods vnto whome they offer incense, but they shall not bee able to helpe them in time of their trouble. |
| 11:13 | For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Iudah, and according to the number of the streetes of Ierusalem haue yee set vp altars of confusion, euen altars to burne incense vnto Baal. |
| 11:14 | Therfore thou shalt not pray for this people, neither lift vp a crie, or prayer for them: for when they cry vnto mee in their trouble, I will not heare them. |
| 11:15 | What shoulde my beloued tarie in mine house, seeing they haue committed abomination with manie? and the holy flesh goeth away from thee: yet when thou doest euill, thou reioycest. |
| 11:16 | The Lord called thy name, A greene oliue tree, faire, and of goodly fruite: but with noyse and great tumult he hath set fyre vpon it, and the branches of it are broken. |
| 11:17 | For the Lord of hostes that planted thee, hath pronounced a plague against thee, for the wickednes of the house of Israel, and of the house of Iudah, which they haue done against themselues to prouoke me to anger in offering incense vnto Baal. |
| 11:18 | And the Lord hath taught me, and I knowe it, euen then thou shewedst mee their practises. |
| 11:19 | But I was like a lambe, or a bullocke, that is brought to the slaughter, and I knewe not that they had deuised thus against me, saying, Let vs destroy the tree with the fruite thereof, and cut him out of the lande of the liuing, that his name may be no more in memory. |
| 11:20 | But O Lord of hostes, that iudgest righteously, and triest the reines and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for vnto thee haue I opened my cause. |
| 11:21 | The Lord therefore speaketh thus of the men of Anathoth, (that seeke thy life, and say, Prophecie not in the Name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hands) |
| 11:22 | Thus therefore sayth the Lord of hostes, Beholde, I will visite them: the yong men shall die by the sword: their sonnes and their daughters shall die by famine, |
| 11:23 | And none of them shall remaine: for I will bring a plague vpon the men of Anathoth, euen the yeere of their visitation. |
| 11:1 | Thys is another Sermon, whych the Lorde commaunded Ieremy for to preach, saying: |
| 11:2 | Heare the wordes of the couenaunt, & speake vnto the men of Iuda, & to all them that dwell at Ierusalem. |
| 11:3 | And saye thou vnto them. Thus sayeth the Lord God of Israell: Cursed be euery one that is not obedient vnto the wordes of this couenaunt: |
| 11:4 | whych I commaunded vnto youre fathers, what tyme as I broughte them out of Egipt, from the yron fornace, saying: Be obedient vnto my voyce, & do acordynge to all that I commaunde you: so shall ye be my people, & I wilbe youre God, |
| 11:5 | and wyll kepe my promyse, that I haue sworne vnto youre fathers. Namely, that I wolde geue them a lande which floweth wt mylck & hony: as ye se, it is come to passe vnto this day. Then answered I, and sayd: Amen. Let it be euen so Lorde, as thou sayest. |
| 11:6 | Then the Lorde sayde vnto me agayne: Preache this in the cyties of Iuda & rounde aboute Ierusalem, & saye. Heare the wordes of this couenaunt, that ye maye kepe them. |
| 11:7 | for I haue diligently exhorted your fathers, euer sence the tyme that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, vnto this daye. I gaue them warnyng by tymes, saying: herken vnto my voyce. |
| 11:8 | Neuertheles, they wolde not obeye me, nor encline theyr eares vnto me, but folowed the wicked ymaginacions of theyr awne hertes. And therfore, I haue accused them as transgressours of all the wordes of this couenaunt, that I gaue them to kepe which they (notwithstandinge) haue not kepte. |
| 11:9 | And the Lorde sayde vnto me. It is founde out, that whole Israel and all these citezins of Ierusalem are gone backe. |
| 11:10 | They haue turned them selues to the blasphemyes of theyr forefathers, which had no lust to heare my worde. Euen lykewyse haue these also folowed straunge goddes, and worshypped them. The house of Israel & Iuda haue broken my couenaunt, which I made with theyr fathers. |
| 11:11 | Therfore, thus sayeth the Lord. Behold, I wyll sende a plage vpon them, which they shall not be able to escape: & thoughe they crye vnto me, I wyl not heare them. |
| 11:12 | Then shall the townes of Iuda & the citezins of Ierusalem go, & call vpon theyr goddes vnto whom they made theyr oblacyons: but they shall not be able to helpe them in tyme of theyr trouble. |
| 11:13 | For as many cyties as thou hast, O Iuda, so many goddes hast thou had also. And loke how many stretes there be in the, (O Ierusalem) so many shamefull aulters haue ye set vp, aulters I saye to offre vpon them vnto Baal. |
| 11:14 | Therfore, praye not thou for this people, byd nether prayse ner prayer for them, for though they crie vnto me in theyr trouble, yet will I not heare them. |
| 11:15 | What parte hath my beloued in my house, seinge he hathe worked abominacion seruynge many goddes? The holy fleash offringes in the temple ar goone from the O Iuda, and thou when thou hast done euell makest thy boast of ytt. |
| 11:16 | The Lorde called the a grene olyue tre, a fayre one, a frutefull one, a goodly one: but with greate clamor hath the enemy sett fyre vppon it and the branches of yt are destroyed. |
| 11:17 | For the Lorde of Hoostes that planted the, hath deuysed a plage for the (O thou house of Israell and Iuda) for the euell that ye haue done to prouoke hym to wrath, in that ye dyd seruyce vnto Baal. |
| 11:18 | This (O Lord) haue I lerned of the, and vnderstand it, for thou hast shewed me theyr ymaginacyons. |
| 11:19 | But I am (as a meke lambe an oxe) that is caryed awaye to be slayne, not knowynge, that they had deuysed soch a councell agaynst me, sayeng: We wyll destroye his meate with wodd, & dryue him out of the land, of the lyuyng: that his name shall neuer be thought vpon. |
| 11:20 | Therfore, I will beseche the now (O Lord of hoostes) thou ryghteous iudge, thou that tryest the reynes & the hertes: lett me se the auenged of them, for vnto the haue I committed my cause. |
| 11:21 | The Lorde therfore spake thus of the cytezins of Anathoth, that sought to slaye me, sayenge: Preache not vnto vs in the name of the Lord, or els thou shalt dye of our handes. |
| 11:22 | Thus (I saye) spake the Lorde of hoostes. Behold, I wyll vyset you. Youre younge men shall perysh with the swearde, your sonnes & your daughters shall vtterly dye of honger, |
| 11:23 | so that none shall remayne. For vpon the cytezins of Anathoth will I bryng a plage, euen the yeare of theyr vysytacyon. |
