12:1 | Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of thy judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they happy that deal very treacherously? |
12:2 | Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins. |
12:3 | But thou, O LORD, knowest me: thou hast seen me, and tried mine heart toward thee: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter. |
12:4 | How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end. |
12:5 | If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan? |
12:6 | For even thy brethren, and the house of thy father, even they have dealt treacherously with thee; yea, they have called a multitude after thee: believe them not, though they speak fair words unto thee. |
12:7 | I have forsaken mine house, I have left mine heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of my soul into the hand of her enemies. |
12:8 | Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it. |
12:9 | Mine heritage is unto me as a speckled bird, the birds round about are against her; come ye, assemble all the beasts of the field, come to devour. |
12:10 | Many pastors have destroyed my vineyard, they have trodden my portion under foot, they have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. |
12:11 | They have made it desolate, and being desolate it mourneth unto me; the whole land is made desolate, because no man layeth it to heart. |
12:12 | The spoilers are come upon all high places through the wilderness: for the sword of the LORD shall devour from the one end of the land even to the other end of the land: no flesh shall have peace. |
12:13 | They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain, but shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD. |
12:14 | Thus saith the LORD against all mine evil neighbours, that touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit; Behold, I will pluck them out of their land, and pluck out the house of Judah from among them. |
12:15 | And it shall come to pass, after that I have plucked them out I will return, and have compassion on them, and will bring them again, every man to his heritage, and every man to his land. |
12:16 | And it shall come to pass, if they will diligently learn the ways of my people, to swear by my name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to swear by Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people. |
12:17 | But if they will not obey, I will utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD. |
12:1 | O Lord, if I dispute with thee, thou art righteous: yet let mee talke with thee of thy iudgements: wherefore doeth the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they in wealth that rebelliously transgresse? |
12:2 | Thou hast planted them, and they haue taken roote: they grow, and bring forth fruite: thou art neere in their mouth, and farre from their reines. |
12:3 | But thou, Lord, knowest me: thou hast seene me, and tried mine heart towarde thee: pull them out like sheepe for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter. |
12:4 | Howe long shall the lande mourne, and the herbes of euery fielde wither, for the wickednesse of them that dwell therein? the beastes are consumed and the birdes, because they sayd, He wil not see our last ende. |
12:5 | If thou hast runne with the footemen and they haue wearied thee, then howe canst thou match thy selfe with horses? and if thou thoughtest thy selfe safe in a peaceable lande, what wilt thou do in the swelling of Iorden? |
12:6 | For euen thy brethren, and the house of thy father, euen they haue delt vnfaithfully with thee, and they haue cryed out altogether vpon thee: but beleeue them not, though they speake faire to thee. |
12:7 | I haue forsaken mine house: I haue left mine heritage: I haue giuen the dearely beloued of my soule into the hands of her enemies. |
12:8 | Mine heritage is vnto mee, as a lion in the forest: it crieth out against mee, therefore haue I hated it. |
12:9 | Shall mine heritage bee vnto mee, as a bird of diuers colours? are not the birdes about her, saying, Come, assemble all ye beastes of the fielde, come to eate her? |
12:10 | Many pastors haue destroyed my vineyarde, and troden my portion vnder foote: of my pleasant portion they haue made a desolate wildernesse. |
12:11 | They haue layde it waste, and it, being waste, mourneth vnto me: and the whole lande lyeth waste, because no man setteth his minde on it. |
12:12 | The destroyers are come vpon all the high places in the wildernesse: for the sworde of the Lord shall deuoure from the one end of the land, euen to the other ende of the lande: no flesh shall haue peace. |
12:13 | They haue sowen wheate, and reaped thornes: they were sicke, and had no profite: and they were ashamed of your fruites, because of the fierce wrath of the Lord. |
12:14 | Thus sayeth the Lord against all mine euill neighbours, that touch the inheritance, which I haue caused my people Israel to inherite, Beholde, I will plucke them out of their lande, and plucke out the house of Iudah from among them. |
12:15 | And after that I haue plucked them out, I will returne, and haue compassion on them, and will bring againe euery man to his heritage, and euery man to his land. |
12:16 | And if they will learne the wayes of my people, to sweare by my Name, (The Lord liueth, as they taught my people to sweare by Baal) then shall they be built in the middes of my people. |
12:17 | But if they will not obey, then will I vtterly plucke vp, and destroy that nation, sayeth the Lord. |
12:1 | O Lorde, thou art more ryghteous, then that I shulde dispute wt the. Neuertheles, lett me talke with the in thynges reasonable. How happeneth it, that the waye of the vngodly is so prosperous? & that it goeth so well with them, whych (wythout any shame) offende & lyue in wickednes? |
12:2 | Thou plantest them, they take rote, they growe, & brynge forth frute. They boast moch of the, yet art thou farre from ther reynes. |
12:3 | But thou Lorde (to whom I am well knowne) thou that hast sene, & proued my herte, take them awaye, lyke as a flock is caryed to the slaughter house, and apointe them for the daye of slaughter. |
12:4 | How longe shall the lande mourne, and all the herbes of the felde perish, for the wyckednes of them that dwell therin. The catell and the byrdes are gone, yet say they tush, God wyll not destroye vs vtterly. |
12:5 | Seyng, thou art weery in runnyng with the fote men, how wilt thou then runne with horses? In a peaceable sure lande thou mayest be safe, but how wilt thou do in the furyous pryde of Iordane? |
12:6 | For thy brethren & thy kynred haue all together despysed the, and cryed out vpon the in thyne absence. Beleue them not, though they speake fayre wordes to the. |
12:7 | As for me (I saye) I haue forsaken myne awne dwellyng place, & left myne heritage. My lyfe also that I loue so wel, haue I geuen into the handes of myne enemies. |
12:8 | Myne heritage is become vnto me, as a Lyon in the wood. It cryed out vpon me, therfore, haue I forsaken it. |
12:9 | Myne herytage is vnto me, as a speckled byrde, a byrde of dyuerse coloures is vpon it. Come, & gather ye to geather al the beastes of the felde. Come that ye maye eate it vp. |
12:10 | Diuerse herdmen haue broken downe my vyneyarde, and troden vpon my porcyon. Of my pleasaunt porcyon, they haue made a wyldernes and desert. |
12:11 | They haue layed it waste: & now that it is waste, it sigheth vnto me. Yee, the whole land lyeth waste, & no man regardeth it. |
12:12 | The destroyers come ouer the heeth euery waye, for the sweard of the Lorde doth consume from the one ende of the land to the other, & no flesh hath rest. |
12:13 | They haue sowen wheate, & reaped thornes. They haue taken herytage in possessyon, but it doth them no good. And the prophets were ashamed of your frutes, because of the great wrath of the Lorde. |
12:14 | Thus sayeth the Lorde vpon all myne euell neyghbours, that laye hande on myne herytage, whych I haue possessed, euen my people of Israell. Beholde, I wyll plucke them (namely Israel) out of their lande, and put out the house of Iuda from among them. |
12:15 | And when I haue roted them out, I wylbe at one with them agayne, & I wyll haue mercy vpon them: & brynge them agayne, euery man to his awne herytage, and into his lande. |
12:16 | And yf they (namely that trouble my people) wyll lerne the wayes of them, to sweare by my name. The Lord lyueth (lyke as they learned my people to sweare by Baal) then shal they be rekened among my people. |
12:17 | But yf they wyll not obeye, then wyll I rote out the same folke, & destroye them, sayth the Lord. |
