Jeremiah - Chapter: 12

>
12:1O Lorde, thou art more ryghteous, then that I shulde dispute wt the. Neuertheles, lett me talke with the in thynges reasonable. How happeneth it, that the waye of the vngodly is so prosperous? & that it goeth so well with them, whych (wythout any shame) offende & lyue in wickednes?
12:2Thou plantest them, they take rote, they growe, & brynge forth frute. They boast moch of the, yet art thou farre from ther reynes.
12:3But thou Lorde (to whom I am well knowne) thou that hast sene, & proued my herte, take them awaye, lyke as a flock is caryed to the slaughter house, and apointe them for the daye of slaughter.
12:4How longe shall the lande mourne, and all the herbes of the felde perish, for the wyckednes of them that dwell therin. The catell and the byrdes are gone, yet say they tush, God wyll not destroye vs vtterly.
12:5Seyng, thou art weery in runnyng with the fote men, how wilt thou then runne with horses? In a peaceable sure lande thou mayest be safe, but how wilt thou do in the furyous pryde of Iordane?
12:6For thy brethren & thy kynred haue all together despysed the, and cryed out vpon the in thyne absence. Beleue them not, though they speake fayre wordes to the.
12:7As for me (I saye) I haue forsaken myne awne dwellyng place, & left myne heritage. My lyfe also that I loue so wel, haue I geuen into the handes of myne enemies.
12:8Myne heritage is become vnto me, as a Lyon in the wood. It cryed out vpon me, therfore, haue I forsaken it.
12:9Myne herytage is vnto me, as a speckled byrde, a byrde of dyuerse coloures is vpon it. Come, & gather ye to geather al the beastes of the felde. Come that ye maye eate it vp.
12:10Diuerse herdmen haue broken downe my vyneyarde, and troden vpon my porcyon. Of my pleasaunt porcyon, they haue made a wyldernes and desert.
12:11They haue layed it waste: & now that it is waste, it sigheth vnto me. Yee, the whole land lyeth waste, & no man regardeth it.
12:12The destroyers come ouer the heeth euery waye, for the sweard of the Lorde doth consume from the one ende of the land to the other, & no flesh hath rest.
12:13They haue sowen wheate, & reaped thornes. They haue taken herytage in possessyon, but it doth them no good. And the prophets were ashamed of your frutes, because of the great wrath of the Lorde.
12:14Thus sayeth the Lorde vpon all myne euell neyghbours, that laye hande on myne herytage, whych I haue possessed, euen my people of Israell. Beholde, I wyll plucke them (namely Israel) out of their lande, and put out the house of Iuda from among them.
12:15And when I haue roted them out, I wylbe at one with them agayne, & I wyll haue mercy vpon them: & brynge them agayne, euery man to his awne herytage, and into his lande.
12:16And yf they (namely that trouble my people) wyll lerne the wayes of them, to sweare by my name. The Lord lyueth (lyke as they learned my people to sweare by Baal) then shal they be rekened among my people.
12:17But yf they wyll not obeye, then wyll I rote out the same folke, & destroye them, sayth the Lord.

12:1Forsothe, Lord, thou art iust; if Y dispute with thee, netheles Y schal speke iust thingis to thee. Whi hath the weie of wickid men prosperite? It is wel to alle men that breken the lawe, and doen wickidli?
12:2Thou hast plauntid hem, and thei senten roote; thei encreessen, and maken fruyt; thou art niy to the mouth of hem, and fer fro the reynes of hem.
12:3And thou, Lord, hast knowe me, thou hast seyn me, and hast preued myn herte with thee. Gadere thou hem togidere as a flok to slayn sacrifice, and halewe thou hem in the dai of sleyng.
12:4Hou long schal the erthe mourne, and ech eerbe of the feeld schal be dried, for the malice of hem that dwellen ther ynne? A beeste is wastid, and a brid, for thei seiden, The Lord schal not se oure laste thingis.
12:5If thou trauelist rennynge with foot men, hou schalt thou mow stryue with horsis? but whanne thou art sikur in the lond of pees, what schalt thou do in the pride of Jordan?
12:6For whi bothe thi britheren and the hous of thi fadir, yhe, thei fouyten ayens thee, and crieden with ful vois aftir thee; bileue thou not to hem, whanne thei speken goodis to thee.
12:7I haue left myn hous, Y haue forsake myn eritage; Y yaf my loued soule in to the hondis of enemyes therof.
12:8Myn eritage is maad as a lioun in the wode to me; it yaf vois ayens me, therfor Y hate it.
12:9Whether myn eritage is a brid of dyuerse colours to me? whether it is a brid died thorou out? Alle beestis of the feeld, come ye, be ye gaderid togidere; haste ye for to deuoure.
12:10Many scheepherdis distrieden my vyner, defouliden my part, yauen my desirable porcioun in to desert of wildirnesse;
12:11thei settiden it in to scateryng, and it mourenyde on me; al the lond is desolat bi desolacioun, for noon is that ayenthenkith in herte.
12:12Alle distrieris of the lond camen on alle the weies of desert, for the swerd of the Lord schal deuoure fro the laste part of the lond `til to the laste part therof; no pees is to al fleisch.
12:13Thei sowiden wheete, and repiden thornes; thei token erytage, and it schal not profite to hem. Ye schulen be schent of youre fruytis, for the wraththe of the stronge veniaunce of the Lord.
12:14The Lord seith these thingis ayens alle my worst neiyboris, that touchen the eritage which Y departide to my puple Israel, Lo! Y schal drawe hem out of her lond, and Y schal drawe the hous of Juda out of the myddis of hem.
12:15And whanne Y schal drawe out thilke Jewis, Y schal conuerte, and haue merci on hem; and Y schal lede hem ayen, a man to his eritage, and a man in to his lond.
12:16And it schal be, if thei `that ben tauyt lernen the weies of my puple, that thei swere in my name, The Lord lyueth, as thei tauyten my puple to swere in Baal, thei schulen be bildid in the myddis of my puple.
12:17That if thei heren not, Y schal drawe out that folk by drawyng out and perdicioun, seith the Lord.

12:1O Lorde, thou art more rightuous, then that I shulde dispute with the: Neuertheles, let me talke with the in thinges reasonable. How happeneth it, that the waye off the vngodly is so prosperous? and that it goeth so wel with them, which (with out eny shame) offede and lyue in wickednesse?
12:2Thou plantest them, they take rote, they growe, and bringe forth frute. They boost moch off the, yet doest thou not punysh them.
12:3But thou LORDE (to whom I am well knowne) thou that hast sene, & proued my herte, take them awaye, like as a flock is caried to the slaughter house, and apoynte them for the daye off slaughtinge.
12:4How longe shall the londe mourne, and all the herbes off the felde perish, for the wickednes off them that dwell therin? The catell and the byrdes are gone, yet saye they: tush, God will not destroye vs vtterly.
12:5Seinge thou art weery in runnynge with the fote men, how wilt thou then runne wt horses? In a peaceable sure londe thou mayest be safe, but how wilt thou do in the furious pryde of Iordane?
12:6For thy brethren ad thy kynred haue altogether despised the, and cried out vpon the in thine absence. Beleue them not, though they speake fayre wordes to the.
12:7As for me (saye I) I haue forsaken myne owne dwellinge place, and left myne heretage. My life also that I loue so wel, haue I geuen in to the hodes of myne enemies.
12:8Myne heretage is become vnto me, as a Lyon in the wod. It cried out vpon me, therfore haue I forsaken it.
12:9Myne heretage is vnto me, as a spreckled byrde, a byrde of dyuerse coloures is vpon it. Go hence, and gather all the beastes of the felde together, that they maye eate it vp.
12:10Dyuerse hyrdme haue broken downe my vynyarde, and troden vpon my porcion. Of my pleasaunt porcion, they haue made a wildernes & deserte.
12:11They haue layed it waist: and now that it is waist, it sigheth vnto me. Yee the whole londe lieth waist, and no man regardeth it.
12:12The distroyers come ouer the heeth euery waye, for the swearde off the LORDE shal consume from the one ende of ye lode to the other, and no flesh shal haue rest.
12:13They shal sowe wheat, and reepe thornes. They shal take heretage in possession, but it shal do them no good. And ye shalbe confounded of youre owne wynnynges, because of the greate wrath of the LORDE.
12:14Thus saieth the LORDE vpon all myne euel neghbours, that laye honde on myne heretage, which I haue geuen my people of Israel: Beholde, I wil plucke them (namely Israel) out of their londe, and put out the house of Iuda from amonge them.
12:15And whe I haue rooted the out, I wilbe at one with the agayne, and wil haue mercy vpon them: and brynge them agayne, euery man to his owne heretage, and in to his lode.
12:16And yf they (namely that trouble my people) wil lerne ye wayes of them, to sweare by my name: The LORDE lyueth (like as they lerned my people to sweare by Baal) the shal they be rekened amoge my people.
12:17But yf they wil not obeye, the will I rote out the same folke, and destroye them, saieth the LORDE,
