Jeremiah - Chapter: 25

>
25:1The word that came to Ieremiah concerning all the people of Iudah, in the fourth yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah king of Iudah, that was the first yeere of Nebuchad-rezzar king of Babylon:
25:2The which Ieremiah the prophet spake vnto all the people of Iudah, and to all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, saying;
25:3From the thirteenth yere of Iosiah the sonne of Amon king of Iudah, euen vnto this day (that is the three and twentith yeere) the word of the Lord hath come vnto me, and I haue spoken vnto you, rising early and speaking, but yee haue not hearkened.
25:4And the Lord hath sent vnto you all his seruants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but yee haue not hearkened, nor inclined your eare to heare.
25:5They sayd, Turne yee againe now euery one from his euill way, and from the euil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord hath giuen vnto you, and to your fathers for euer and euer.
25:6And goe not after other Gods to serue them, and to worship them, and prouoke mee not to anger with the workes of your hands, and I will doe you no hurt.
25:7Yet yee haue not hearkened vnto me, saith the Lord, that yee might prouoke me to anger with the workes of your hands, to your owne hurt.
25:8Therefore thus saith the Lord of hostes; Because yee haue not heard my words:
25:9Behold, I will send and take all the families of the North, saith the Lord, and Nebuchad-rezzar the king of Babylon my seruant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will vtterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetuall desolations.
25:10Moreouer, I will take from them the voyce of myrth, and the voice of gladnes, the voice of the bridegrome, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the milstones, & the light of the candle.
25:11And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment, and these nations shal serue the king of Babylon seuentie yeeres.
25:12And it shall come to passe when seuentie yeeres are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquitie, and the land of the Caldeans, and will make it perpetuall desolations.
25:13And I will bring vpon that land all my words which I haue pronounced against it, euen all that is written in this booke, which Ieremiah hath prophecied against all the nations.
25:14For many nations and great kings shall serue themselues of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the workes of their owne hands.
25:15For thus saith the Lord God of Israel vnto me, Take the wine cup of this furie at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drinke it.
25:16And they shall drinke, and be moued, and be mad, because of the sworde that I will send among them.
25:17Then tooke I the cuppe at the Lords hand, and made all the nations to drinke, vnto whom the Lord had sent me:
25:18To wit Ierusalem, and the cities of Iudah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse (as it is this day:)
25:19Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his seruants, and his princes, and all his people:
25:20And all the mingled people, & all the kings of the land of Uz: and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod:
25:21Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon:
25:22And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the yles which are beyond the sea:
25:23Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the vtmost corners:
25:24And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert:
25:25And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes:
25:26And all the kings of the North, farre and neere, one with another, and all the kingdomes of the world, which are vpon the face of the earth, and the king of Sheshach shall drinke after them.
25:27Therefore thou shalt say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Drinke ye and bee drunken, and spue and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I wil send among you.
25:28And it shall bee, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drinke, then shalt thou say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Yee shall certainely drinke.
25:29For loe, I begin to bring euill on the citie, which is called by my name, and should yee be vtterly vnpunished? ye shall not be vnpunished: for I will cal for a sword vpon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hosts.
25:30Therefore prophecie thou against them all these wordes, and say vnto them, The Lord shall roare from an high, and vtter his voice from his holy habitation, he shall mightily roare vpon his habitation, hee shall giue a shout, as they that treade the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
25:31A noise shall come euen to the ends of the earth; for the Lord hath a controuersie with the nations: hee will pleade with all flesh, he will giue them that are wicked to the sword, saith the Lord.
25:32Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, euill shall goe forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlewinde shall be raised vp from the coasts of the earth.
25:33And the slaine of the Lord shall be at that day from one end of the earth euen vnto the other ende of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered nor buried, they shall be doung vpon the ground.
25:34Howle yee shepheards and cry, and wallow your selues in the ashes ye principall of the flocke: for the dayes of your slaughter, and of your dispersions are accomplished, and yee shall fall like a pleasant vessell.
25:35And the shepheards shall haue no way to flee, nor the principall of the flocke to escape.
25:36A voyce of the cry of the shepheards, and an howling of the principall of the flocke shall be heard: for the Lord hath spoiled their pasture.
25:37And the peaceable habitations are cut downe because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
25:38He hath forsaken his couert, as the Lyon: for their land is desolate, because of the fiercenesse of the oppressour, and because of his fierce anger.

25:1A Sermon that was geuen vnto Ieremie vppon all the people of Iuda, in the fourth yere of Iehoakim the sonne of Iosias kyng of Iuda (that was in the first yere of Nabuchodonozor kyng of Babylon.
25:2Which sermon Ieremie the prophete made vnto all the people of Iuda, and to all the inhabitours of Hierusalem, on this maner
25:3From the thirteenth yere of Iosias the sonne of Amon kyng of Iuda vnto this present day (that is euen twentie and three yeres) the worde of the Lord hath ben committed vnto me, and so I haue spoken vnto you, I haue risen vp early, I haue geuen you warning in season: but ye woulde not heare me
25:4Though the Lord hath sent his seruauntes all the prophetes vnto you in season, yet would ye not obay, ye would not encline your eares to heare
25:5He sayde: Turne againe euery man from his euill way, and from your wicked imaginations, and so shall ye dwell for euer in the lande that the Lord promised you and your forefathers
25:6And go not after straunge gods, serue them not, worship them not, and anger me not with the workes of your owne handes, then wyll I not punishe you
25:7Neuerthelesse, ye woulde not heare me saith the Lorde, but haue prouoked me to anger with the workes of your handes, to your great harme
25:8Wherefore thus saith the Lorde of hoastes: Because ye haue not hearkened vnto my worde
25:9Lo, I wyll sende out and call for all the people that dwell in the north saith the Lorde, and wyll prepare Nabuchodonozar the kyng of Babylon my seruaunt, and wyll bryng them vpon this lande, and vpon all that dwell therin, and vpon all the people that are about them, and wyll vtterly roote them out: I wyll make them amased, a mockage, and a continuall desert
25:10Moreouer, I wyll take from them the voyce of gladnesse and solace, the voyce of the bridegrome and the bride, the noyse of the milstones, and the light of the cressets
25:11And this whole lande shall become a wildernesse and astonished: and these nations shal serue the king of Babylon threscore yeres and ten
25:12When the threscore and ten yeres are expired, I wil visite all the wickednesse of the kyng of Babylon and his people saith the Lorde, yea and the lande of the Chaldees, and wyll make it a perpetuall wildernesse
25:13And wyll fulfill all my wordes vpon that lande whiche I haue deuised against it: yea all that is written in this booke, whiche Ieremie hath prophecied of all people
25:14So that they also shalbe subdued vnto diuers nations and great kynges, for I will recompence them according to their deedes and workes of their owne handes
25:15For thus hath the Lorde God of Israel spoken vnto me: take this wine cup of indignation fro my hande, that thou mayest cause all people to whom I sende thee, for to drinke of it
25:16That when they haue drunken therof, they may be madde and out of their wittes, when the sworde commeth that I wyll sende among them
25:17Then toke I the cuppe from the Lordes hande, and made all people to drinke thereof vnto whom the Lorde had sent me
25:18But first the citie of Hierusalem, and all the cities of Iuda, their kinges and princes, to make them desolate, amased, despised, and hissed at, and cursed, according as it is come to passe this day
25:19Yea and Pharao the kyng of Egypt, his seruauntes, his princes, and his people altogether one with another
25:20And all kinges of the lande of Hus, all kinges of the Philistines lande, Ascalon, Azah, Accaron, and the remnaunt of Asdod
25:21The Edomites, the Moabites, and the Ammonites
25:22All the kinges of Tyrus and Sidon, the kinges of the Isles that are beyonde the sea
25:23Dedan, Thema, Buz, and all them that dwell in the vttermost partes of the worlde
25:24All the kinges of Arabia, and generally all the kinges that dwell in the desert
25:25All the kinges of Zimri, al the kinges of Elam, all the kinges of the Medes
25:26All the kinges towarde the north, whether they be farre or nye, euery one against his neighbour, yea and all the kyngdomes that are vpon the whole earth: and the kyng of Sesach shall drinke also after them
25:27Therfore say thou vnto them, This is the commaundement of the Lorde of hoastes the God of Israel: Drinke and be drunken, spewe and fall, that ye neuer arise, and that thorowe the sworde whiche I wyll sende among you
25:28But yf they wyll not receaue the cup of thy hande, and drynke it, then tell them, thus doth the Lorde of hoastes threaten you, Drynke it you shall, and that shortly
25:29For lo, I begyn to plague the citie that my name is geuen vnto, thinke ye then that I will leaue you vnpunished? ye shall not go quite: for why? I call for a sworde vpon all the inhabitours of the earth, saith the Lorde of hoastes
25:30Therfore tell them all these wordes, and say vnto them: The Lorde shall crye from aboue, and his voyce shalbe hearde from his holy habitation, with a great noyse shal he crie from his court regall: he shall geue a great voyce like the grape gatherers, and the sounde therof shalbe hearde vnto the endes of the worlde
25:31For the Lorde hath a iudgement to geue vpon all people, and wyll holde his court of iustice with all fleshe, and wyll deliuer the vngodly to the sworde, saith the Lorde
25:32For thus saith the Lorde of hoastes, Beholde, a miserable plague shall go from one people to another, and a great stormie water shall arise from all the endes of the earth
25:33And the same day shall the Lord him selfe slay them from one ende of the earth to another: there shal no mone be made for any of them, none gathered vp, none buryed: but shall lye as dunge vpon the grounde
25:34Mourne O ye sheepheardes, and crye, sprinckle your selues with asshes O ye rammes of the flocke: for the tyme of your slaughter and breache is fulfylled, and ye shall fall lyke vessels that were much set by
25:35The sheepheardes shall haue no way to flee, and the rammes of the flocke shall not escape
25:36Then shall the sheepheardes crye horribly, and the rammes of the flocke shall mourne: for the Lorde hath consumed their pasture
25:37And their best fieldes lye dead, because of the horrible wrath of the Lorde
25:38They haue forsaken their foldes like as a lion: for their lande is waste because of the spoylers furious crueltie, and of his fearefull indignation

25:1The word that came to Ieremiah, concerning all the people of Iudah in the fourth yeere of Iehoiakim the sonne of Iosiah King of Iudah that was in the first yeere of Nebuchad-nezzar King of Babel:
25:2The which Ieremiah the Prophet spake vnto all the people of Iudah, and to all the inhabitants of Ierusalem, saying,
25:3From the thirteenth yeere of Iosiah the sonne of Amon King of Iudah, euen vnto this day (that is the three and twentieth yeere) the word of the Lord hath come vnto mee, and I haue spoken vnto you rising earely and speaking, but ye woulde not heare.
25:4And the Lord hath sent vnto you all his seruantes the Prophets, rising early and sending them, but yee would not heare, nor encline your eares to obey.
25:5They sayde, Turne againe now euery one from his euill way, and from the wickednes of your inuentions, and ye shall dwell in the lande that the Lord hath giuen vnto you, and to your fathers for euer and euer.
25:6And go not after other gods to serue them and to worshippe them, and prouoke me not to anger with the workes of your hands, and I will not punish you.
25:7Neuerthelesse ye would not heare me, saith the Lord, but haue prouoked mee to anger with the workes of your hands to your owne hurt.
25:8Therefore thus saith the Lord of hostes, Because ye haue not heard my wordes,
25:9Beholde, I will send and take to mee all the families of the North, saith the Lord, and Nebuchad-nezzar the King of Babel my seruant, and will bring them against this lande, and against the inhabitantes thereof, and against all these nations rounde about, and will destroy them, and make them an astonishment and an hissing, and a continuall desolation.
25:10Moreouer I will take from them the voyce of mirth and the voyce of gladnesse, the voyce of the bridegrome and the voyce of the bride, the noise of the milstones, and the light of the candle.
25:11And this whole land shalbe desolate, and an astonishment, and these nations shall serue the King of Babel seuentie yeeres.
25:12And when the seuentie yeres are accomplished, I will visite the King of Babel and that nation, saith the Lord, for their iniquities, euen the land of the Caldeans, and will make it a perpetuall desolation,
25:13And I will bring vpon that lande all my wordes which I haue pronounced against it, euen all that is written in this booke, which Ieremiah hath prophecied against all nations.
25:14For many nations, and great Kings shall euen serue themselues of them: thus will I recompense them according to their deedes, and according to the workes of their owne handes.
25:15For thus hath the Lord God of Israel spoken vnto me, Take the cuppe of wine of this mine indignation at mine hand, and cause all the nations, to whome I sende thee, to drinke it.
25:16And they shall drinke, and be moued and be mad, because of the sworde that I will sende among them.
25:17Then tooke I the cup at the Lordes hand, and made all people to drinke, vnto whome the Lord had sent me:
25:18Euen Ierusalem, and the cities of Iudah, and the Kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them desolate, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse, as appeareth this day:
25:19Pharaoh also, King of Egypt, and his seruants, and his princes, and all his people:
25:20And all sortes of people, and all the Kings of the lande of Vz: and all the Kings of the lande of the Philistims, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod:
25:21Edom, and Moab, and the Ammonites,
25:22And all the Kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the Kings of the Yles, that are beyonde the Sea,
25:23And Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that dwell in the vttermost corners,
25:24And all the Kings of Arabia, and all the Kings of Arabia, that dwell in the desert,
25:25And all the Kings of Zimri, and all the Kings of Elam, and all the Kings of the Medes,
25:26And all the Kings of the North, farre and neere one to another, and all the kingdomes of the worlde, which are vpon the earth, and the king of Sheshach shall drinke after them.
25:27Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel, Drinke and bee drunken, and spewe and fall, and rise no more, because of the sworde, which I will sende among you.
25:28But if they refuse to take the cuppe at thine hande to drinke, then tell them, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Ye shall certainely drinke.
25:29For loe, I beginne to plague the citie, where my Name is called vpon, and shoulde you goe free? Ye shall not goe quite: for I will call for a sword vpon al the inhabitants of the earth, saith the Lord of hostes.
25:30Therefore prophecie thou against them al these words, and say vnto them, The Lord shall roare from aboue, and thrust out his voyce from his holy habitation: he shall roare vpon his habitation, and crie aloude, as they that presse the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
25:31The sounde shall come to the endes of the earth: for the Lord hath a controuersie with the nations, and will enter into iudgement with all flesh, and he will giue them that are wicked, to the sworde, saith the Lord.
25:32Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Behold, a plague shall goe foorth from nation to nation, and a great whirlewinde shalbe raised vp from the coastes of the earth,
25:33And the slaine of the Lord shall be at that day, from one ende of the earth, euen vnto the other ende of the earth: they shall not bee mourned, neither gathered nor buried, but shalbe as the dongue vpon the grounde.
25:34Howle, ye shepherdes, and crie, and wallowe your selues in the ashes, ye principall of the flocke: for your dayes of slaughter are accomplished, and of your dispersion, and ye shall fall like precious vessels.
25:35And the flight shall faile from the shepherdes, and the escaping from the principall of the flocke.
25:36A voyce of the crye of the shepherdes, and an howling of the principall of the flocke shalbe heard: for the Lord hath destroyed their pasture.
25:37And the best pastures are destroyed because of the wrath and indignation of the Lord.
25:38He hath forsaken his couert, as the lyon: for their land is waste, because of the wrath of the oppressor, and because of ye wrath of his indignatio.
