Jeremiah - Chapter: 35


35:1	The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,
35:2	Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and speak unto them, and bring them into the house of the LORD, into one of the chambers, and give them wine to drink.
35:3	Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;
35:4	And I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the door:
35:5	And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine, and cups, and I said unto them, Drink ye wine.
35:6	But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:
35:7	Neither shall ye build house, nor sow seed, nor plant vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye be strangers.
35:8	Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab the son of Rechab our father in all that he hath charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;
35:9	Nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:
35:10	But we have dwelt in tents, and have obeyed, and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.
35:11	But it came to pass, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem for fear of the army of the Chaldeans, and for fear of the army of the Syrians: so we dwell at Jerusalem.
35:12	Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
35:13	Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye not receive instruction to hearken to my words? saith the LORD.
35:14	The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, are performed; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father's commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye hearkened not unto me.
35:15	I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.
35:16	Because the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have performed the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people hath not hearkened unto me:
35:17	Therefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I have spoken unto them, but they have not heard; and I have called unto them, but they have not answered.
35:18	And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Because ye have obeyed the commandment of Jonadab your father, and kept all his precepts, and done according unto all that he hath commanded you:
35:19	Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not want a man to stand before me for ever.


35:1	הדבר אשׁר היה אל ירמיהו מאת יהוה בימי יהויקים בן יאשׁיהו מלך יהודה לאמר׃
35:2	הלוך אל בית הרכבים ודברת אותם והבאותם בית יהוה אל אחת הלשׁכות והשׁקית אותם יין׃
35:3	ואקח את יאזניה בן ירמיהו בן חבצניה ואת אחיו ואת כל בניו ואת כל בית הרכבים׃
35:4	ואבא אתם בית יהוה אל לשׁכת בני חנן בן יגדליהו אישׁ האלהים אשׁר אצל לשׁכת השׂרים אשׁר ממעל ללשׁכת מעשׂיהו בן שׁלם שׁמר הסף׃
35:5	ואתן לפני בני בית הרכבים גבעים מלאים יין וכסות ואמר אליהם שׁתו יין׃
35:6	ויאמרו לא נשׁתה יין כי יונדב בן רכב אבינו צוה עלינו לאמר לא תשׁתו יין אתם ובניכם עד עולם׃
35:7	ובית לא תבנו וזרע לא תזרעו וכרם לא תטעו ולא יהיה לכם כי באהלים תשׁבו כל ימיכם למען תחיו ימים רבים על פני האדמה אשׁר אתם גרים שׁם׃
35:8	ונשׁמע בקול יהונדב בן רכב אבינו לכל אשׁר צונו לבלתי שׁתות יין כל ימינו אנחנו נשׁינו בנינו ובנתינו׃
35:9	ולבלתי בנות בתים לשׁבתנו וכרם ושׂדה וזרע לא יהיה׃
35:10	ונשׁב באהלים ונשׁמע ונעשׂ ככל אשׁר צונו יונדב אבינו׃
35:11	ויהי בעלות נבוכדראצר מלך בבל אל הארץ ונאמר באו ונבוא ירושׁלם מפני חיל הכשׂדים ומפני חיל ארם ונשׁב בירושׁלם׃
35:12	ויהי דבר יהוה אל ירמיהו לאמר׃
35:13	כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישׂראל הלך ואמרת לאישׁ יהודה וליושׁבי ירושׁלם הלוא תקחו מוסר לשׁמע אל דברי נאם יהוה׃
35:14	הוקם את דברי יהונדב בן רכב אשׁר צוה את בניו לבלתי שׁתות יין ולא שׁתו עד היום הזה כי שׁמעו את מצות אביהם ואנכי דברתי אליכם השׁכם ודבר ולא שׁמעתם אלי׃
35:15	ואשׁלח אליכם את כל עבדי הנבאים השׁכים ושׁלח לאמר שׁבו נא אישׁ מדרכו הרעה והיטיבו מעלליכם ואל תלכו אחרי אלהים אחרים לעבדם ושׁבו אל האדמה אשׁר נתתי לכם ולאבתיכם ולא הטיתם את אזנכם ולא שׁמעתם אלי׃
35:16	כי הקימו בני יהונדב בן רכב את מצות אביהם אשׁר צום והעם הזה לא שׁמעו אלי׃
35:17	לכן כה אמר יהוה אלהי צבאות אלהי ישׂראל הנני מביא אל יהודה ואל כל יושׁבי ירושׁלם את כל הרעה אשׁר דברתי עליהם יען דברתי אליהם ולא שׁמעו ואקרא להם ולא ענו׃
35:18	ולבית הרכבים אמר ירמיהו כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישׂראל יען אשׁר שׁמעתם על מצות יהונדב אביכם ותשׁמרו את כל מצותיו ותעשׂו ככל אשׁר צוה אתכם׃
35:19	לכן כה אמר יהוה צבאות אלהי ישׂראל לא יכרת אישׁ ליונדב בן רכב עמד לפני כל הימים׃


35:1	The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, saying:
35:2	`Go unto the house of the Rechabites, and thou hast spoken with them, and brought them into the house of Jehovah, unto one of the chambers, and caused them to drink wine.'
35:3	And I take Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, son of Habazziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and all the house of the Rechabites,
35:4	and bring them into the house of Jehovah, unto the chamber of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah, a man of God, that `is' near to the chamber of the princes, that `is' above the chamber of Maaseiah son of Shallum, keeper of the threshold;
35:5	and I put before the sons of the house of the Rechabites goblets full of wine, and cups, and I say unto them, Drink ye wine.
35:6	And they say, `We do not drink wine: for Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, charged us, saying, Ye do not drink wine, ye and your sons -- unto the age;
35:7	and a house ye do not build, and seed ye do not sow, and a vineyard ye do not plant, nor have ye any; for in tents do ye dwell all your days, that ye may live many days on the face of the ground whither ye are sojourning.
35:8	`And we hearken to the voice of Jonadab son of Rechab, our father, to all that he commanded us, not to drink wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, and our daughters;
35:9	nor to build houses for our dwelling; and vineyard, and field, and seed, we have none;
35:10	and we dwell in tents, and we hearken, and we do according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us;
35:11	and it cometh to pass, in the coming up of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon unto the land, that we say, Come, and we enter Jerusalem, because of the force of the Chaldeans, and because of the force of Aram -- and we dwell in Jerusalem.'
35:12	And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah, saying: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel:
35:13	`Go, and thou hast said to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem: Do ye not receive instruction? -- to hearken unto My words -- an affirmation of Jehovah.
35:14	Performed have been the words of Jonadab son of Rechab, when he commanded his sons not to drink wine, and they have not drunk unto this day, for they have obeyed the command of their father; and I -- I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking, and ye have not hearkened unto Me.
35:15	And I send unto you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending, saying: Turn back, I pray you, each from his evil way, and amend your doings, yea, ye do not walk after other gods, to serve them, and dwell ye on the ground that I have given to you and to your fathers; and ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto Me.
35:16	`Because the sons of Jonadab son of Rechab have performed the command of their father, that he commanded them, and this people have not hearkened unto Me,
35:17	therefore thus said Jehovah, God of Hosts, God of Israel: Lo, I am bringing in unto Judah, and unto all inhabitants of Jerusalem, all the evil that I have spoken against them, because I have spoken unto them, and they have not hearkened, yea, I call to them, and they have not answered.'
35:18	And to the house of the Rechabites said Jeremiah: `Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Because that ye have hearkened unto the command of Jonadab your father, and ye observe all his commands, and do according to all that he commanded you;
35:19	therefore, thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Of Jonadab son of Rechab one standing before me is not cut off all the days.'
