Jeremiah - Chapter: 35


35:1	The wordes whyche the Lorde spake vnto Ieremy, in the raynge of Iehoakim the sonne of Iosiah kyng of Iuda, are these:
35:2	Go vnto the house of the Rechabites, & call them out, and bringe them to the house of the Lorde into some commodyous place, and geue then wyne to dryncke.
35:3	Then toke I Iazaniah the sonne of Ieremy the sonne of Habaziniah, and his brethren, & all his sonnes, and the whole housholde of the Rechabytes:
35:4	and brought them to the house of the Lorde into the closet of the chyldren of Hanan the sonne of Iegedaliah the man of God: which was by the closet of the Princes that is aboue the closet of Maasiah the sonne of Selum, which is the treasurer.
35:5	And before the sonnes of the kynred of the Rechabytes, I set pottes full of wyne, and cuppes, & sayde vnto them: Drincke wyne.
35:6	But they sayde: we wyll dryncke no wyne for Ionadab the sonne of Rechab oure father commaunded vs, saying: ye and youre sonnes shall neuer dryncke wyne buylde no houses, sowe no sede, plante no vynes,
35:7	yee, ye shal haue no vineyardes: but for all youre tyme ye shall dwell in tentes, that ye maye lyue longe in the lande wherin ye be straungers.
35:8	Thus haue we obeyed the commaundement of Ionadab the sonne of Rechab oure father in all that he hath charged vs, & so we drynke no wyne all oure lyfe longe: we, nor oure wyues, our sonnes and oure daughters.
35:9	Nether builde we any house to dwell therin, we haue also amonge vs nether vineyardes, ner cornelande to sowe:
35:10	but we dwell in tentes, we obeye, and do accordynge vnto all, that Ionadab oure father commaunded vs.
35:11	But now that Nabuchodonosor the king of Babylon came vp into the lande, we sayde, come, lett vs go to Ierusalem, that we maye escape the hooste of the Caldees and the Assyrians: and so we dwell now at Ierusalem.
35:12	Then came the worde of the Lorde vnto Ieremy saying.
35:13	Thus sayeth the Lord of hoostes the God of Israel: Go and tell the men of Iuda and the inhabitours of Ierusalem: Will ye not be refourmed, to obey my wordes saieth the Lorde?
35:14	The wordes which Ionadab the sonne of Rechab commaunded his sonnes, that they shulde drynke no wyne, are fast and surely kept: for vnto thys daye they dryncke no wyne, but obeye their fathers commaundement. But as for me, I haue stand vp early, I haue spoken vnto you, & geuen you earnest warnynge: & yet haue ye not bene obedient vnto me.
35:15	Yee, I haue sent my seruauntes, all the prophetes vnto you, I rose vp early, & sent you worde, sayinge: O turne you, nowe euery man from his wycked waye: amende youre lyues, and go not after straunge goddes, to worshyppe them: that ye maye continue in the lande, which I haue geuen vnto you & youre fathers, but ye wolde nether heare me, ner folowe me.
35:16	The chyldren of Ionadab Rechabs sonne haue stedfastly kepte their fathers commaundement, that he gaue them, but this people is not obedient vnto me.
35:17	And therfore thus sayeth the Lorde of hoostes the God of Israel: Beholde, I will bringe vpon Iuda & vpon euery one that dwelleth in Ierusalem, all the trouble that I haue deuysed agaynst them. For I haue spoken vnto them, but they wold not folowe. I haue called vnto them, neuertheles they wold geue me no answere.
35:18	Ieremy also spake vnto the housholde of the Rechabites: Thus sayeth the Lord of Hostes the God of Israell: For so moche as ye haue obeyed the commaundement of Ionadab youre father, and kepte all hys preceptes, and done accordyng vnto all that he hath bydden you:
35:19	Therfore thus sayeth the Lorde of Hostes, the God of Israel: Ionadab the sonne of Rechab shall not fayle, but haue one out of his stocke to stande alwaye before me.


35:1	The word that was maad of the Lord to Jeremye, in the daies of Joachym, sone of Josie,
35:2	kyng of Juda, and seide, Go thou to the hous of Recabitis, and speke thou to hem; and thou schalt brynge hem in to the hous of the Lord, in to o chaumbre of tresouris, and thou schalt yyue to hem to drynke wyn.
35:3	And Y took Jeconye, the sone of Jeremye, sone of Absanye, and hise britheren, and alle the sones of hym, and al the hous of Recabitis.
35:4	And Y ledde hem in to the hous of the Lord, to the treserie of the sones of Eman, sone of Godolie, the man of God; which treserie was bisidis the treserie of princes, aboue the tresour of Maasie, sone of Sellum, that was kepere of the vestiarie.
35:5	And Y settide bifore the sones of the hous of Recabitis pecis, and grete cowpis ful of wyn; and Y seide to hem, Drinke ye wyn.
35:6	And thei answeriden, We schulen not drinke wyn; for whi Jonadab, oure fadir, the sone of Recab, comaundide to vs, and seide, Ye schulen not drinke wyn, ye and youre sones, `til in to withouten ende;
35:7	and ye schulen not bilde an hous, and ye schulen not sowe seed, and ye schulen not plaunte vynes, nether schulen haue, but ye schulen dwelle in tabernaclis in alle youre daies, that ye lyue many daies on the face of erthe, in which ye goen in pilgrymage.
35:8	Therfor we obeieden to the vois of Jonadab, oure fadir, the sone of Recab, in alle thingis whiche he comaundide to vs; so that we drunken not wyn in alle oure dayes, we, and oure wymmen, oure sones, and douytris;
35:9	and we bildiden not housis to dwelle, and we hadden not a vyner, and a feeld, and seed;
35:10	but we dwelliden in tabernaclis, and weren obeiynge, and diden bi alle thingis, whiche Jonadab, oure fadir, comaundide to vs.
35:11	But whanne Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, hadde stied to this lond, we seiden, Come ye, and entre we in to Jerusalem, fro the face of the oost of Caldeis, and fro the face of the oost of Sirie; and we dwelliden in Jerusalem.
35:12	And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye,
35:13	and seide, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Go thou, and seie to the men of Juda, and to the dwelleris of Jerusalem, Whether ye schulen not take techyng, that ye obeie to my wordis, seith the Lord?
35:14	The wordis of Jonadab, sone of Rechab, hadden the maistrie, whiche he comaundide to hise sones, that thei schulden not drynke wyn; and thei drynken not, `til to this dai; for thei obeieden to the comaundement of her fadir; but Y spak to you, and Y roos ful eerli, and spake, and ye obeieden not to me.
35:15	And Y sente to you alle my seruauntis profetis, and Y roos ful eerli, and Y sente, and seide, Be ye conuertid, ech man fro his worste weye, and make ye good youre studies, and nyle ye sue alien goddis, nether worschipe ye hem, and ye schulen dwelle in the lond, which Y yaf to you, and to youre fadris; and ye bowiden not youre eere, nether herden me.
35:16	Therfor the sones of Jonadab, sone of Recab, maden stidfast the comaundement of her fadir, which he comaundide to hem; but this puple obeiede not to me.
35:17	Therfor the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bringe on Juda, and on alle the dwelleris of Jerusalem, al the turment which Y spak ayens hem; for Y spak to hem, and thei herden not; Y clepide hem, and thei answeriden not to me.
35:18	Forsothe Jeremye seide to the hous of Recabitis, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, For that that ye obeieden to the comaundement of Jonadab, youre fadir, and kepten alle hise comaundementis, and diden alle thingis, whiche he comaundide to you;
35:19	therfor the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, A man of the generacioun of Jonadab, sone of Recab, schal not faile stondynge in my siyt in alle daies.


35:1	The wordes which the LORDE spake vnto Ieremy, (in the reigne of Ioachim the sonne of Iosias kinge of Iuda) are these:
35:2	Go vnto ye house of the Rechabites, & call them out, & bringe the to ye house of the LORDE in to some commodious place, and geue them wyne to drynke.
35:3	Then toke I Iasanias the sonne of Ieremy, the sonne of Habazania, and his brethre and all his sonnes, and the whole housholde off the Rechabites:
35:4	and brought them to the house off the LORDE, in to the closet of the children off Hanan the sonne off Igdalia the man off God: which was by the closet off the prynces, that is aboue the closet of Maasia the sonne of Sellum, which is the chefe off the tresury.
35:5	And before the sonnes of the kynred of the Rechabites, I set pottes full of wyne, and cuppes, and sayde vnto them: drynke wyne.
35:6	But they sayde: we drynke no wyne, For Ionadab the sonne of Rechab oure father commaunded vs, sayenge: Ye and youre sonnes shall neuer drynke wyne, buylde no houses, sowe no sede, plante no vynes,
35:7	yee ye shall haue no vynyardes: but for all youre tyme ye shall dwell in tetes, yt ye maye lyue loge in the lode, wherin ye be straugers.
35:8	Thus haue we obeyed the comaundemet of Ionadab ye sonne of Rechab oure father, in all yt he hath charged vs, and so we drynke no wyne all oure lyue longe: we, oure wyues, or sonnes & oure doughters.
35:9	Nether buylde we eny house to dwell therin, we haue also amonge vs nether vynyardes, ner corne lode to sowe:
35:10	but we dwell in tentes, we obeye, & do acordinge vnto all, that Ionadab oure father commaunded vs.
35:11	But now yt Nabuchodonosor the kinge of Babilo came vp in to the lode, we sayde: come, let vs go to Ierusale, yt we maye escape the hooste of the Caldees ad the Assirias: & so we dwell now at Ierusale.
35:12	Then came ye worde of the LORDE vnto Ieremy, sayenge:
35:13	Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes the God of Israel: Go & tell whole Iuda & all the inhabitours of Ierusale: Wyll ye not be refourmed, to obeye my wordes? saieth the LORDE.
35:14	The wordes which Ionadab the sonne off Rechab comaunded his sonnes, yt they shulde drynke no wyne, are fast & surely kepte: for vnto this daye they drynke no wyne: but obeye their fathers comaundement. But as for me, I haue stode vp early, I haue spoke vnto you, & geuen you earnest warnynge: & yet haue ye not bene obediet vnto me.

35:17	And therfore thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes ye God of Israel: Beholde, I wil bringe vpo Iuda & vpo euery one yt dwelleth in Ierusale, all the trouble yt I haue deuysed agaynst the. For I haue spoke vnto the, but they wolde not folowe: I haue called vnto them, neuertheles they wolde geue me no answere.
35:18	Ieremy also spake vnto the housholde off the Rechabites: Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes the God of Israel: For so moch as ye haue obeyed ye comaundemet of Ionadab yor father, & kepte all his preceptes, & done acordinge vnto all yt he hath bydden you:
35:19	Therfore thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes the God of Israel: Ionadab the sonne of Rechab shal not fayle, but haue one out of his stocke, to stode allwaye before me.
