Jeremiah - Chapter: 41

>
41:1Now it came to passe in the seuenth moneth, that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah the sonne of Elishamah of the seede royall, and the princes of the king, euen tenne men with him, came vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
41:2Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and the ten men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slew him, whome the king of Babylon had made gouernour ouer the land.
41:3Ishmael also slew all the Iewes that were with him, euen with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
41:4And it came to passe the second day after he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knew it,
41:5That there came certaine from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beards shauen, and their clothes rent, and hauing cut themselues, with offerings and incense in their hand, to bring them to the house of the Lord.
41:6And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went foorth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping all along as hee went: and it came to passe as hee met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
41:7And it was so when they came into the midst of the citie, that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slew them, and cast them into the midst of the pit, he, and the men that were with him.
41:8But ten men were found among them, that said vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the field, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of hony: so he forbare, and slewe them not among their brethren.
41:9Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast all the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slaine because of Gedaliah) was it, which Asa the king had made, for feare of Baasha king of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
41:10Then Ishmael caried away captiue all the residue of the people, that were in Mizpah, euen the kings daughters, and al the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzaradan the captaine of the guard had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
41:11But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the forces that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
41:12Then they tooke all the men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and found him by the great waters that are in Gibeon.
41:13Now it came to passe that when al the people which were with Ishmael, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the forces, that were with him, then they were glad.
41:14So all the people that Ishmael had caried away captiue from Mizpah cast about and returned, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
41:15But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
41:16Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the forces that were with him, all the remnant of the people whom he had recouered from Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, from Mizpah (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam,) euen mighty men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches whom he had brought againe from Gibeon.
41:17And they departed and dwelt in the habitation of Chimham, which is by Bethlehem, to goe to enter into Egypt,
41:18Because of the Caldeans: for they were afraid of them, because Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the king of Babylon made gouernour in the land.

41:1But in the seuenth moneth came Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, the sonne of Elishama of the seede royall, and the princes of the King, and tenne men with him, vnto Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam to Mizpah, and there they did eate bread together in Mizpah.
41:2Then arose Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah with these tenne men that were with him, and smote Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam the sonne of Shaphan with the sword, and slewe him, whom the King of Babel had made gouernour ouer the lande.
41:3Ishmael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Gedaliah at Mizpah, and all the Caldeans that were found there, and the men of warre.
41:4Now the second day that he had slaine Gedaliah, and no man knewe it,
41:5There came men from Shechem, from Shiloh, and from Samaria, euen fourescore men, hauing their beardes shauen, and their clothes rent and cut, with offerings and incense in their hands to offer in the house of the Lord.
41:6And Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah went forth from Mizpah to meete them, weeping as he went: and when he met them, he said vnto them, Come to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam.
41:7And when they came into the middes of the citie, Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah slewe them, and cast them into the middes of the pit, he and the men that were with him.
41:8But tenne men were founde among them, that saide vnto Ishmael, Slay vs not: for we haue treasures in the fielde, of wheate, and of barley, and of oyle, and of honie: so he stayed, and slew them not among their brethren.
41:9Now the pit wherein Ishmael had cast the dead bodies of the men (whom he had slayne because of Gedaliah) is it, which Asa the King had made because of Basha King of Israel, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah filled it with them that were slaine.
41:10Then Ishmael caryed away captiue all the residue of the people that were in Mizpah, euen the Kings daughters, and all the people that remained in Mizpah, whom Nebuzar-adan the chiefe steward had committed to Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, and Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah caried them away captiue, and departed to goe ouer to the Ammonites.
41:11But when Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, heard of all the euill that Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had done,
41:12Then they all tooke their men, and went to fight with Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, and founde him by ye great waters that are in Gibeon.
41:13Nowe when all the people whom Ishmael caryed away captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste, that were with him, they were glad.
41:14So all the people, that Ishmael had caryed away captiue from Mizpah, returned and came againe, and went vnto Iohanan the sonne of Kareah.
41:15But Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah, escaped from Iohanan with eight men, and went to the Ammonites.
41:16Then tooke Iohanan the sonne of Kareah, and all the captaines of the hoste that were with him, all the remnant of the people, whom Ishmael the sonne of Nethaniah had caried away captiue from Mizpah, (after that he had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam) euen the strong men of warre, and the women, and the children, and the eunuches, whom hee had brought againe from Gibeon:
41:17And they departed and dwelt in Geruth Chimham, which is by Beth-lehem, to goe and to enter into Egypt,
41:18Because of the Caldeans: for they feared them, because Ishmael ye sonne of Nethaniah had slaine Gedaliah the sonne of Ahikam, whom the King of Babel made gouernour in the land.

41:1But in the seuenth Moneth it happened, the Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah the sonne of Elisama (one of the kynges bloude) came with them that were greatest aboute the kynge, & ten men that were sworne with him: vnto Godoliah the sonne of Ahicam to Mizpa, & they dyd eate together.
41:2And Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah with those ten men that were sworne to him, starte vp, and smote Godoliah the sonne of Ahicam the sonne of Saphan with the swearde, and slewe him, whom the kynge of Babylon had made gouernoure of the lande.
41:3Ismael also slewe all the Iewes that were with Godoliah at Mizpa, and all the Caldees that he founde there waytynge vpon hym and those that were able to fyght they slewe with hym.
41:4The nexte daye after that he had slayne Godoliah (the matter was yet vnknowne)
41:5& there came certayne men from Sichem, from Siloh and Samaria, to the nombre of .lxxx. which had shauen theyr beardes, rent theyr clothes, and were all heuye, bringynge meatoffringes, & incense in their handes to offre it in the house of the Lorde.
41:6And Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah went forth of Mizpa wepinge, to mete them. Nowe when he met them, he sayde: Go youre waye to Godoliah the sonne of Ahicam.
41:7And when they came in the myddest of the cytie, Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah (wt them that were sworne vnto him) slewe them, euen at the myddest of the pyt.
41:8Amonge these .lxxx. men there were ten, that sayde vnto Ismael: Oh slaye vs not, for we haue yet a great treasure in the felde, of wheate barley, oyle and hony. So he spared them, & slewe them not with theyr brethren.
41:9Nowe the pyt wherin Ismael dyd cast the deed bodies of the men (whom he slewe because of Godoliah) had kynge Asa caused to be made, for feare of Baasa the kyng of Israel, and the same pyt dyd Ismael fyll with slayne men
41:10As for the remnaunt of the people, the kynges daughters and all the people that were yet left at Mizpa, vpon whom Nabusaradan the chefe Captayne had made Godoliah the sonne of Ahicam gouernoure: Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah caryed them awaye presoners towarde the Ammonites.
41:11But when Iohanan the sonne of Careah & all they which had bene captaynes ouer the kynges Hoste with hym, herde of all the wyckednes that Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah had done:
41:12they toke theyr companions, & went out for to fyght wt Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah, and founde him by the greate waters that are in Gibeon.
41:13Nowe when all the people, whom Ismael led captiue, sawe Iohanan the sonne of Careah and all the other Captaines of the Hoste, they were glad.
41:14So all the people that Ismael had caryed awaye from Mizpa, were brought agayne. And when they returned, they came to Iohanan the sonne of Careah.
41:15But Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah fled from Iohanan with eyght of hys sworne companyons, & wente to the Ammonites.
41:16Then Iohanan the sonne of Careah and all the captaynes of the Hoste that were with him, toke all the remnaunt of the people, whom Ismael the sonne of Nathaniah had led a waye. (When he had slayne Godoliah the sonne of Ahicam) whom they also had rescued from hym: fyghtinge men, wemen & chyldren, & gelded men, whom they brought agayne from Gibeon:
