Jeremiah - Chapter: 52

52:1Zedekiah was one and .xx. yeare olde, when he was made kyng, and he raygned eleuen yeare in Ierusalem. His mothers name was Hamutall, Ieremyes daughter of lybna.
52:2He lyued wyckedly before the Lorde euen as Iehoachin dyd.
52:3For the Lorde was angry at Ierusalem and Iuda, so longe tyll he had cast them out of hys presence. And Zedekiah fell from the kynge of Babilon.
52:4But in the nynth yeare of hys raygne, In the tenth moneth, the tenth daye of the moneth it happened, that Nabuchodonosor the kyng of Babilon with all hys hooste came before Ierusalem, and beseged it, and made them bulworckes rounde aboute it.
52:5And thys besegynge of the cytie endured vnto the eleuenth yeare of kyng Zedekiah.
52:6And in the fourth moneth, the .ix. daye of the moneth, there was so great honger in the cytie: that there were nomore vytayles for the people of the lande.
52:7So all the soudiers brake awaye, and fled oute of the cytie by nyght thorowe the waye of the porte betwene the two walles vp the kynges garden. Nowe the Chaldees had compassed the cytie rounde aboute, yet went these men their waye towarde the wyldernes.
52:8And so the Chaldees folowed vpon them, and toke Zedekiah the kynge in the felde of Iericho, when his hoost was runne from hym:
52:9So they caryed the kyng awaye prysoner to Reblath, vnto the kynge of Babylon in the lande of Hemath, where he gaue iudgement vpon hym.
52:10The kynge of Babylon also caused Zedekiahs sonnes to be slayne before his face, yee and put all the prynces of Iuda to death at Reblath.
52:11Moreouer, he put out the eyes of Zedekiah, caused him to be bounde with two cheynes, to be caried vnto Babylon: and let hym lye in preson, tyll he dyed.
52:12Nowe the tenth daye of the fyfth moneth in the nynth yeare of Nabuchodonosor kynge of Babilon, Nabusaradan the chefe captayne and the kynge of Babylons seruauntes came vnto Ierusalem,
52:13and brent vp the house of the Lorde. He brent vp also the kynges palace, all the houses and all the gorgeous buyldynges in Ierusalem.
52:14And the whole hoost of the Chaldees that were with the chefe captayne, brake downe all the walles of Ierusalem rounde aboute.
52:15As for the poore people and soch folke as yet was left in the cytie: which also were fallen to the kynge of Babylon, yee, and what people as yet remayned: Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne caried them awaye presoners.
52:16But the poore people of the countre, dyd Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne leaue in the lande, to occupye the vyneardes and feldes.
52:17The Chaldees also brake the brasen pyllers that were in the house of the Lorde, yee, the seate and the brasen lauer that was in the house of the Lorde: and caryed all the metall of them vnto Babylon.
52:18They toke awaye also the Cauldrons, shouels, fleshehokes, sprynklers, spones, and all the brasen vessell that was occupied in the seruyce:
52:19with the basens, colepannes, sprynklers, pottes, candelstyckes, spones, and cuppes: wherof some were of golde, and some of syluer.
52:20The chefe captaine toke also the two pillers, the lauer, the twelue brasen bullockes that stode vnder the seate which kyng Salomon made in the house of the Lord: and all the vessell conteyned so moch metall, that it myght not be weyed.
52:21For euery piller was eyghtene cubytes hye: and the rope that went aboute it, was twelue cubytes, & foure fyngers thycke and rounde.
52:22Nowe vpon the rope were brasen knoppes, and euery knoppe was fyue cubytes hye: and vpon the knoppes were whopes, and pomgranates rounde about of cleane brasse:
52:23After thys maner were both the pylers fashyoned wt the pomgranates, wherof there were an hundred and .xcvi. which hanged vpon the whoopes rounde about.
52:24The chefe captaine also toke Sariah the hie preste, and Sophoniah that was chefe nexte hym, and the thre kepers of the treasury.
52:25He toke oute of the cytie a chamberlayne which was a captayne of the souldyers, and seuen men that were the kynges seruauntes, which were founde in the cytie: and Sepher a captayne that vsed to muster the men of warre, with threscore men of the countre that were taken in the cytie.
52:26These Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne toke, and caried them to the kynge of Babylon vnto Reblath:
52:27and the kyng of Babylon caused them to be put to death at Reblath in the lande of Hemath. And thus Iuda was ledde awaye captiue, oute of hys awne lande.
52:28This is the summe of the people, whom Nabuchodonosor ledde awaye captiue. In the seuenth yeare of hys raygne, he caried awaye of the Iewes, thre thousand and thre and twenty.
52:29In the .xviii. yeare Nabuchodonosor caryed awaye from Ierusalem eyght hundreth thirty and two personnes.
52:30In the .xxiii. yeare of Nabuchodonosor Nabuzaradan the chefe captayne, toke awaye seuen hundreth fourty and fyue Iewes presoners. The whole summe of all the presoners, is foure thousande and syxe hundreth.
52:31In the .xxxvii. yeare after that Iehoachin the kynge of Iuda was caryed awaye in the .xxv. daye of the .xii. moneth, Euilmerodach kynge of Babylon (the same yeare that he reygned) gaue Iehoachin the kyng of Iuda hys pardon, and let hym out of preson,
52:32and spake louyngly to him. And sett his trone aboue the trones of the other kynges that were with hym in Babylon.
52:33He chaunged also the clothes of his preson, yee, and he dyd eate wt hym all his lyfe longe.
52:34And he had a continuall lyuyng geuen him of the kynge of Babylon, euery daye a certayne thynge alowed him all the dayes of hys lyfe, vntyll he dyed.

 

52:1Sedechie was a sone of oon and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede enleuene yeer in Jerusalem; and the name of his modir was Amychal, the douyter of Jeremye of Lobna.
52:2And he dide yuels bifore the iyen of the Lord, bi alle thingis whiche Joachym hadde do.
52:3For the stronge veniaunce of the Lord was in Jerusalem, and in Juda, til he castide hem awey fro his face. And Sedechie yede awei fro the kyng of Babiloyne.
52:4Forsothe it was don in the nynthe yeer of his rewme, in the tenthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe, Nabugodonosor, the kyng of Babiloyne, cam, he and al his oost, ayens Jerusalem; and thei bisegiden it, and bildiden ayens it strengthis in cumpas.
52:5And the citee was bisegid, til to the enleuenthe yeer of the rewme of Sedechie.
52:6Forsothe in the fourthe monethe, in the nynthe dai of the monethe, hungur helde the citee; and foodis weren not to the puple of the lond.
52:7And the citee was brokun, and alle men werriouris therof fledden; and thei yeden out of the citee in the niyt, bi the weie of the yate, which is bitwixe twei wallis, and ledith to the gardyn of the kyng, while Caldeis bisegiden the citee in cumpas; and thei yeden forth bi the weie that ledith in to desert.
52:8Sotheli the oost of Caldeis pursuede the kyng; and thei token Sedechie in desert, which is bisidis Jerico, and al his felouschipe fledde awei fro hym.
52:9And whanne thei hadden take the kyng, thei brouyten hym to the kyng of Babiloyne in Reblatha, which is in the lond of Emath; and the kyng of Babiloyne spak domes to hym.
52:10And the kyng of Babiloyne stranglide the sones of Sedechie bifore hise iyen; but also he killide alle the princes of Juda in Rablatha.
52:11And he puttide out the iyen of Sedechie, and boond hym in stockis; and the kyng of Babiloyne brouyte hym in to Babiloyne, and puttide hym in the hous of prisoun, til to the dai of his deth.
52:12Forsothe in the nynthe monethe, in the tenthe dai of the monethe, thilke is the nyntenthe yeer of the kyng of Babiloyne, Nabusardan, the prince of chyualrie, that stood bifore the kyng of Babiloyne, cam in to Jerusalem.
52:13And he brente the hous of the Lord, and the hous of the kyng, and alle the housis of Jerusalem; and he brente with fier ech greet hous.
52:14And al the ost of Caldeis, that was with the maistir of chyualrie, distriede al the wal of Jerusalem bi cumpas.
52:15Sotheli Nabusardan, the prince of chyualrie, translatide of the pore men of the puple, and of the residue comyn puple, that was left in the citee, and of the fleeris ouer, that fledden ouer to the kyng of Babiloyne; and he translatide other men of the multitude.
52:16But Nabusardan, the prince of chyualrie, lefte of the pore men of the lond vyne tilers, and erthe tilers.
52:17Also Caldeis brakun the brasun pilers, that weren in the hous of the Lord, and the foundementis, and the brasun waischyng vessel, that was in the hous of the Lord; and thei token al the metal of tho in to Babiloyne.
52:18And thei tokun cawdruns, and fleischokis, and sautrees, and violis, and morteris, and alle brasun vessels, that weren in seruyce;
52:19thei token also `watir pottis, and vessels of encense, and pottis, and basyns, and candilstikis, and morters, and litle cuppis; hou manye euere goldun, goldun, and hou manye euere siluerne, siluerne.
52:20The maister of chyualrie took twei pilers, and o waischyng vessel, and twelue brasun caluys, that weren vndur the foundementis, whiche kyng Salomon hadde maad in the hous of the Lord. No weiyte was of the metal of alle these vessels.
52:21Forsothe of the pilers, eiytene cubitis of heiythe weren in o piler, and a roop of twelue cubitis cumpasside it; certis the thickenesse therof was of foure fyngris, and was holowe withynne.
52:22And brasun pomels weren on euer either; and the heiythe of a pomel was of fyue cubitis; and werkis lijk nettis and pumgranatis weren on the coroun `in cumpas.
52:23And the pumgranatis weren nynti and sixe hangynge doun, and alle pumgranatis weren cumpassid with an hundred werkis lijk nettis.
52:24And the maister of the chyualrie took Saraie, the firste preest, and Sophonye, the secounde preest, and three keperis of the vestiarie.
52:25And of the citee he took o chast seruaunt and onest, that was souereyn on the men werriours; and seuene men of hem that sien the face of the kyng, whiche weren foundun in the citees; and a scryuen, prince of knyytis, that preuyde yonge knyytis; and sixti men of the puple of the lond, that weren foundun in the myddis of the citee.
52:26Forsothe Nabusardan, the maistir of chyualrie, took hem, and brouyte hem to the kyng of Babiloyne in Reblatha.
52:27And the kyng of Babiloyne smoot hem, and killide hem in Reblatha, in the lond of Emath; and Juda was translatid fro his lond.
52:28This is the puple, whom Nabugodonosor translatide in the seuenthe yeer; Jewis, thre thousynde and thre and twenti.
52:29In the eiytenthe yeer, Nabugodonosor translatide fro Jerusalem eiyte hundrid and two and thritti persoones.
52:30In the thre and twentithe yeer of Nabugodonosor, Nabusardan, the maister of chyualrie, translatide seuene hundrid and fyue and fourti persoones of Jewis. Therfor alle the persoones weren foure thousynde and sixe hundrid.
52:31And it was doon, in the seuene and threttithe yeer of the passyng ouer of Joachym, kyng of Juda, in the tweluethe monethe, in the fyue and twentithe dai of the monethe, Euylmerodach, kyng of Babiloyne, reiside in that yeer of his rewme the heed of Joachym, kyng of Juda; and ledde hym out of the hous of the prisoun,
52:32and spak good thingis with hym. And he settide the trone of him aboue the trones of kyngis, that weren after hym in Babiloyne,
52:33and chaungide the clothis of his prisoun. And Joachym eet breed bifore hym euere, in alle the daies of his lijf;
52:34and hise metis, euerlastynge metis weren youun to hym of the kyng of Babiloyne, ordeyned bi ech dai, til to the dai of his deth, in alle the daies of his lijf. And it was don, aftir that Israel was led in to caitiftee, and Jerusalem was distried, Jeremye, the profete, sat wepinge, and biweilide Jerusalem with this lamentacioun; and he siyyide, and weilide with bitter soule, and seide.

52:31In the xxxvij yeare after that Ioachim the kinge of Iuda was caried awaye in the xxv daye of the xij Moneth, Euilmerodach kinge of Babilon (the same yeare yt he reigned) gaue Ioachim the kinge of Iuda his pardon, and let him out of preson,
52:32and spake louyngly to him: And set his trone aboue ye trones of the other kinges that were with him in Babilon.
52:33He chaunged also the clothes of his preson, yee and he ate with him all his life longe.
52:34And he had a cotinuall lyuynge geuen him of the kinge of Babilon, euery daye a certayne thinge alowed him, all the dayes of his life, vntill he dyed.
