Ezekiel - Chapter: 14

>
14:1There resorted vnto me certayne of the elders of Israel, & sat downe by me.
14:2Then came the worde of the Lorde vnto me, sayeng:
14:3Thou sonne of man, these men beare their vnclennes in theyr hertes, and go purposly vpon the stomblynge blocke of theyr awne wyckednesse: shulde I then answer at their request?
14:4Therfore speake vnto them, & saye: thus sayeth the Lorde God: Euery man of the house of Israel that beareth hys vncleane Idols in hys herte, purposynge to stomble in hys awne wyckednesse, and commeth to a prophet, to enquere eny thinge at me by him: vnto that man wyll I the Lorde myselfe geue answere, accordynge to the multitude of hys Idols:
14:5that the house of Israel maye be snared in their awne hertes, because they be clene gone fro me, for their abhominacions sakes.
14:6Wherfore, tell the house of Israel: thus sayeth the Lorde God: Be conuerted, forsake youre Idols, and turne youre wyues from youre fylthynesse, and turne youre faces from all youre abhominacions.
14:7For euery man, (whether he be of the house of Israel or a straunger, that sogeourneth in Israel) whych departeth fro me, and caryeth Idols in hys herte, purposynge to go styll stomblyng in his awne wyckednesse, and commeth to a Prophet, for to aske councell at me thorow hym: vnto that man will I the Lord geue answere, by myne awne selfe.
14:8I wyll set my face agaynst that man, and wyll make hym to be an example for other, yee, and a comen byworde: and wyll rote him out of my people, that he may know, how that I am the Lorde.
14:9and yf that Prophete be disceaued, when he telleth hym a worde: then I the Lorde my selfe haue disceaued that Prophet, and wyll stretch forth myne hande vpon hym, to rote hym out of my people of Israel:
14:10and they both shalbe punyshed for theyr wyckednes. Accordynge to the synne of hym that asketh, shall the synne of the Prophete be:
14:11that the house of Israel be led nomore fro me thorowe erroure, and be no more defyled in their wyckednesse: but that they maye be my people, & I theyr God, sayeth the Lorde God.
14:12And the worde of the Lord came vnto me, sayenge:
14:13Thou sonne of man, when the lande synneth agaynst me, & goeth forth in wyckednesse: I will stretch out myne hande vpon it, & destroye all the prouisyon of their bred, and sende derth vpon them, to destroye man & beest in the lande.
14:14And though Noe, Daniel & Iob, these thre men were amonge them, yet shall they in their ryghtuousnesse delyuer but their awne soules, sayeth the Lorde God.
14:15If I brynge noysome beastes into the lande, to waste it vp, & it be so desolate, that no man may go therin for beastes:
14:16yf these thre men also were in the lande, as truly as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde God) they shall saue nether sonnes ner daughters, but be only delyuered them selues: and as for the lande, it shall be waste.
14:17Or yf I brynge a swearde into the lande, & charge it to go thorowe the lande: so that I slaye downe man & beast in it,
14:18& yf these thre men were therin: As truly as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde God) they shall delyuer nether sonnes ner daughters, but only be saued them selues.
14:19If I sende a pestilence into the lande, & poure out my sore indignacyon vpon it in bloude, so that I rote out of it both man and beast.
14:20And yf Noe, Daniel & Iob were therin: as truly as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde God) they shall delyuer nether sonnes ner daughters, but saue their awne soules in their rightuousnes.
14:21Moreouer, thus sayeth the Lorde God: Moch more when I sende my foure troublous plages vpon Ierusalem: the swearde honger, perlous beastes & pestylence, to destroye man and beast out of it.
14:22Beholde ther shall be a remnaunt saued therin, which shall bringe forth their sonnes and daughters. Beholde, they shall come forth vnto you, and ye shall se their waye, and what they take in hande, and ye shall be comforted, as touchinge all the plages that I haue brought vpon Ierusalem.
14:23They shall comforte you, when ye se their waye and worckes: and ye shall knowe, howe that it is not without a cause, that I haue done so agaynst Ierusalem, as I dyd, sayeth the Lorde God.

14:1And men of the eldris of Israel camen to me, and saten bifor me.
14:2And the word of the Lord was maad to me, and he seide, Sone of man,
14:3these men han set her vnclennesses in her hertis, and han set stidfastli the sclaundre of her wickidnesse ayens her face. Whether Y `that am axid, schal answere to hem?
14:4For this thing speke thou to hem, and thou schalt seie to hem, These thingis seith the Lord God, A man, a man of the hous of Israel, that settith hise vnclennessis in his herte, and settith stidfastli the sclaundre of his wickidnesse ayens his face, and cometh to the profete, and axith me bi hym, Y the Lord schal answere to hym in the multitude of hise vnclennessis;
14:5that the hous of Israel be takun in her herte, bi which thei yeden awei fro me in alle her idols.
14:6Therfor seie thou to the hous of Israel, The Lord God seith these thingis, Be ye conuertid, and go ye awei fro youre idols, and turne awei youre faces fro alle youre filthis.
14:7For whi a man, a man of the hous of Israel, and of conuersis, who euer is a comelyng in Israel, if he is alienyd fro me, and settith hise idols in his herte, and settith stidfastli the sclaundir of his wickidnesse ayens his face, and he cometh to the profete, to axe me bi hym, Y the Lord schal answere hym bi my silf.
14:8And Y schal sette my face on that man, and Y schal make hym in to ensaumple, and in to a prouerbe, and Y schal leese hym fro the myddis of my puple; and ye schulen wite, that Y am the Lord.
14:9And whanne a profete errith, and spekith a word, Y the Lord schal disseyue that profete; and Y schal stretche forth myn hond on hym, and Y schal do hym awei fro the myddis of my puple Israel.
14:10And thei schulen bere her wickidnesse; bi the wickidnesse of the axere, so the wickidnesse of the profete schal be;
14:11that the hous of Israel erre no more fro me, nether be defoulid in alle her trespassyngis; but that it be in to a puple to me, and Y be in to a God to hem, seith the Lord of oostis.
14:12And the word of the Lord was maad to me, and he seide,
14:13Sone of man, whanne the lond synneth ayens me, that it trespassynge do trespas, Y schal stretche forth myn hond on it, and Y schal al to-breke the yerde of breed therof; and Y schal sende hungur in to it, and Y schal sle of it man and beeste.
14:14And if these thre men Noe, Danyel, and Job, ben in the myddis therof, thei bi her riytfulnesse schulen delyuere her soulis, seith the Lord of oostis.
14:15That if also Y brynge in worste beestis on the lond, that Y distrie it, and if it is with out weie, for that no passer is for the beestis,
14:16and these thre men, that `ben bifore seid, ben therynne, Y lyue, seith the Lord God, for thei schulen nethir delyuere sones, nether douytris, but thei aloone schulen be deliuered; forsothe the lond schal be maad desolat.
14:17Ethir if Y brynge in swerd on that lond, and Y seie to the swerd, Passe thou thorouy the lond, and Y sle of it man and beeste,
14:18and these thre men ben in the myddis therof, Y lyue, seith the Lord God, that thei schulen not delyuere sones nether douytris, but thei aloone schulen be delyuered.
14:19Forsothe if Y brynge in also pestilence on that lond, and Y schede out myn indignacioun on it in blood, that Y do awei fro it man and beeste,
14:20and Noe, and Danyel, and Joob, ben in the myddis therof, Y lyue, seith the Lord God, for thei schulen not delyuere a sone and a douyter, but thei bi her riytfulnesse schulen delyuere her soulis.
14:21For the Lord God seith these thingis, That thouy Y sende in my foure worste domes, swerd, and hungur, and yuele beestis, and pestilence, in to Jerusalem, that Y sle of it man and beeste,
14:22netheles saluacioun of hem that leden out sones and douytris, schal be left ther ynne. Lo! thei schulen go out to you, and ye schulen se the weie of hem, and the fyndyngis of hem; and ye schulen be coumfortid on the yuel, which Y brouyte in on Jerusalem, in alle thingis whiche Y bar in on it.
14:23And thei schulen coumforte you, whanne ye schulen se the weie of hem and the fyndyngis of hem; and ye schulen knowe, that not in veyn Y dide alle thingis, what euer thingis Y dide there ynne, seith the Lord almyyti.

14:1There resorted vnto me certayne of ye elders of Israel, & sat downe by me.
14:2Then came the worde of the LORDE vnto me, sayenge:
14:3Thou sonne of man, these men beare their Idols in their hertes, & go purposly vpon the stomblinge block of their owne wickednesse: how darre they then axe councell at me?
14:4Therfore speake vnto them, & saye: thus saieth the LORDE God: Euery man of the house of Israel that beareth his Idols in his herte, purposynge to stomble in his owne wickednesse, and commeth to a prophet, to enquere eny thinge at me by him: vnto that man wil I the LORDE myself geue answere, acordinge to the multitude of his Idols:
14:5that the house of Israel maye be snared in their owne hertes, because they be clene gone fro me, for their Idols sakes.
14:6Wherfore, tell the house of Israel: thus saieth the LORDE God: Be conuerted, forsake youre Idols, and turne youre faces from all yor abhominacions.
14:7For euery man (whether he be of the house of Israel, or a straunger, that sogeourneth in Israel) which departeth fro me, and carieth Idols in his herte, purposinge to go still stomblinge in his owne wickednesse, and commeth to a prophet, for to axe councell at me thorow him: vnto yt man wil I the LORDE geue answere, by myne owne self.
14:8I wil set my face agaynst that man, and wil make him to be an example for other, yee and a comon byworde: and wil rote him out of my people, that he maye knowe, how yt I am the LORDE.
14:9And yf that prophet be disceaued, when he telleth him a worde: then I the LORDE myself haue disceaued that prophet, and wil stretch forth myne honde vpon him, to rote him out of my people of Israel:
14:10and they both shall be punyshed for their wickednesse. Acordinge to ye synne of him that axeth, shal the synne of the prophet be:
14:11that ye house of Israel be led nomore fro me thorow erroure, and be nomore defyled in their wickednesse: but that they maye be my people, and I their God, saieth the LORDE God.
14:12And the worde of the LORDE came vnto me, sayenge:
14:13Thou sonne of man, when the londe synneth agaynst me, and goeth forth in wickednesse: I will stretch out myne hode vpon it, and destroye all the prouysion of their bred, and sende derth vpon them, to destroye man & beest in the londe.
14:14And though Noe, Daniel and Iob these thre men were amonge them, yet shal they in their rightuousnesse delyuer but their owne soules, saieth the LORDE God.
14:15Yf I bringe noysome beestes in to the londe, to waist it vp, and it be so desolate, that no man maye go therin for beestes:
14:16yf these thre men also were in the londe, as truly as I lyue (saieth the LORDE God) they shal saue nether sonnes ner doughters, but be only delyuered them selues: and as for the londe, it shal be waist.
14:17Or, yf I bringe a swearde in to the londe, and charge it to go thorow the londe: so that I slaye downe man and beest in it,
14:18and yf these thre men were therin: As truly as I lyue (saieth the LORDE God) they shal delyuer nether sonnes ner doughters, but only be saued them selues.
14:19Yf I sende a pestilence in to the londe, and poure out my sore indignacion vpon it in bloude, so that I rote out of it both man and beest,
14:20and yf Noe, Daniel and Iob were therin: As truly as I lyue (saieth the LORDE God) they shal delyuer nether sonnes ner doughters, but saue their owne soules in their rightuousnesse.
14:21Morouer, thus saieth the LORDE God: Though I sende my foure trublous plages vpon Ierusalem: the swearde, honger, perlous beestes and pestilence, to destroye man and beest out of it:
14:22yet shal there a remnaunt be saued therin, which shal bringe forth their sonnes and doughters. Beholde, they shal come forth vnto you, and ye shall se their waye, and what they take in honde, & ye shalbe coforted, as touchinge all the plages that I haue brought vpon Ierusalem.
14:23They shall comforte you, when ye se their waye and workes: and ye shal knowe, how yt it is not without a cause, that I haue done so agaynst Ierusalem, as I dyd, saieth the LORDE God.
