| 20:1 | And it came to passe in the seuenth yeere, in the fift moneth, the tenth day of the moneth, that certaine of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the Lord, and sate before me. |
| 20:2 | Then came the word of the Lord vnto me, saying, |
| 20:3 | Sonne of man, speake vnto the elders of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Are yee come to enquire of me? As I liue, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you. |
| 20:4 | Wilt thou iudge them, sonne of man, wilt thou iudge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers: |
| 20:5 | And say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted vp mine hand vnto the seed of the house of Iacob, and made my selfe knowen vnto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted vp mine hand vnto them, saying, I am the Lord your God, |
| 20:6 | In the day that I lifted vp mine hand vnto them to bring them foorth of the land of Egypt, into a lande that I had espied for them, flowing with milke and hony, which is the glory of all lands: |
| 20:7 | Then said I vnto them, Cast ye away euery man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not your selues with the idoles of Egypt: I am the Lord your God. |
| 20:8 | But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken vnto mee: they did not euery man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idoles of Egypt: then I said, I will powre out my furie vpon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the middest of the land of Egypt. |
| 20:9 | But I wrought for my names sake that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made my selfe knowen vnto them, in bringing them foorth out of the land of Egypt. |
| 20:10 | Wherefore I caused them to goe foorth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wildernesse. |
| 20:11 | And I gaue them my statutes, and shewed them my iudgements, which if a man doe, he shall euen liue in them. |
| 20:12 | Moreouer also, I gaue them my Sabbaths, to be a signe betweene mee and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctifie them. |
| 20:13 | But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wildernesse: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my iudgements, which if a man doe, hee shall euen liue in them, and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said I would powre out my furie vpon them in the wildernesse, to consume them: |
| 20:14 | But I wrought for my names sake, that it should not bee polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. |
| 20:15 | Yet also I lifted vp my hand vnto them in the wildernesse, that I would not bring them into the land which I had giuen them, flowing with milke and hony, which is the glory of all lands, |
| 20:16 | Because they despised my iudgements, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idoles. |
| 20:17 | Neuerthelesse, mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of the in the wildernes. |
| 20:18 | But I said vnto their children in the wildernesse; Walke ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither obserue their iudgements, nor defile your selues with their idoles. |
| 20:19 | I am the Lord your God: walke in my statutes, and keepe my iudgements and doe them: |
| 20:20 | And hallow my Sabbaths, and they shall be a signe betweene mee and you, that yee may know that I am the Lord your God. |
| 20:21 | Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my iudgements to doe them, which if a man doe, hee shall euen liue in them; they polluted my Sabbaths: then I said I would powre out my furie vpon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wildernesse. |
| 20:22 | Neuerthelesse I withdrew mine hand and wrought for my names sake, that it should not be polluted in the fight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them foorth. |
| 20:23 | I lifted vp mine hand vnto them also in the wildernesse, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countreys; |
| 20:24 | Because they had not executed my iudgements, but had despised my Statutes, and had polluted my Sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers idoles. |
| 20:25 | Wherefore I gaue them also statutes that were not good, and iudgements whereby they should not liue. |
| 20:26 | And I polluted them in their owne gifts, in that they caused to passe through the fire all that openeth the wombe, that I might make them desolate, to the end, that they might know that I am the Lord. |
| 20:27 | Therefore sonne of man, speake vnto the house of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Yet in this your fathers haue blasphemed me, in that they haue committed a trespasse against me. |
| 20:28 | For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hand to giue it to them, then they saw euery high hill, and all the thicke trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the prouocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet sauour, and powred out there their drinke offerings. |
| 20:29 | Then I said vnto them, What is the high place whereunto ye goe? and the name thereof is called Bamah vnto this day. |
| 20:30 | Wherefore say vnto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God, Are ye polluted after the maner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredome after their abominations? |
| 20:31 | For when yee offer your gifts, when yee make your sonnes to passe through the fire, ye pollute your selues with all your idoles euen vnto this day: and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I liue, saith the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you. |
| 20:32 | And that which cometh into your minde, shall not be at all, that ye say, We wil be as the heathen, as the families of the countreys, to serue wood and stone. |
| 20:33 | As I liue, sayeth the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arme, and with furie powred out, will I rule ouer you. |
| 20:34 | And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countreys wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, & with a stretched out arme, and with fury powred out. |
| 20:35 | And I wil bring you into the wildernes of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. |
| 20:36 | Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wildernes of the land of Egypt, so wil I plead with you, saith the Lord God. |
| 20:37 | And I will cause you to passe vnder the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the Couenant. |
| 20:38 | And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgresse against mee: I will bring them foorth out of the countrey where they soiourne, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel, and yee shall know that I am the Lord. |
| 20:39 | As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God, Goe yee, serue ye euery one his idoles, and hereafter also, if ye wil not hearken vnto me: but pollute ye my holy Name no more with your gifts, and with your idoles. |
| 20:40 | For in mine holy mountaine, in the mountaine of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land serue me: there will I accept them, and there wil I require your offerings, and the first fruits of your oblations, with all your holy things. |
| 20:41 | I will accept you with your sweet sauour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countreys wherein yee haue bene scattered, and I wil be sanctified in you before the heathen. |
| 20:42 | And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the countrey for the which I lifted vp mine hand, to giue it to your fathers. |
| 20:43 | And there shall yee remember your wayes, & all your doings, wherein ye haue bene defiled, and ye shal lothe your selues in your owne sight, for all your euils that ye haue committed. |
| 20:44 | And ye shal know that I am the Lord, when I haue wrought with you for my Names sake, not according to your wicked wayes, nor according to your corrupt doings, O yee house of Israel, saith the Lord God. |
| 20:45 | Moreouer, the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying, |
| 20:46 | Sonne of man, set thy face toward the South, and drop thy word toward the South, and prophesie against the forrest of the South field. |
| 20:47 | And say to the forest of ye South, Heare the word of the Lord: Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall deuoure euery greene tree in thee, and euery dry tree: the flaming flame shal not be quenched, and all faces from the South to the North shalbe burnt therein. |
| 20:48 | And all flesh shall see that I the Lord haue kindled it: it shall not be quenched. |
| 20:49 | Then said I, Ah Lord God, they say of me, Doeth he not speake parables? |
| 20:1 | And in the seuenth yeere, in the fift moneth, the tenth day of the moneth, came certaine of the elders of Israel to enquire of the Lord, and sate before me. |
| 20:2 | Then came the worde of the Lord vnto me, saying, |
| 20:3 | Sonne of man, speake vnto the Elders of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Are ye come to enquire of me? as I liue, sayth the Lord God, when I am asked, I wil not answer you. |
| 20:4 | Wilt thou iudge them, sonne of man? wilt thou iudge them? cause them to vnderstand the abominations of their fathers, |
| 20:5 | And say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, In the day when I chose Israel, and lift vp mine hand vnto the seede of the house of Iaakob, and made my selfe knowen vnto them in the land of Egypt, when I lift vp mine hand vnto them, and sayd, I am the Lord your God, |
| 20:6 | In the day that I lift vp mine hand vnto them to bring them forth of the land of Egypt, into a land that I had prouided for them, flowing with milke and hony which is pleasant among all lands, |
| 20:7 | Then sayd I vnto them, Let euery man cast away the abominations of his eyes, and defile not your selues with the idols of Egypt: for I am the Lord your God. |
| 20:8 | But they rebelled against me, and would not heare me: for none cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idoles of Egypt: then I thought to powre out mine indignation vpon them, and to accomplish my wrath against them in the mids of the land of Egypt. |
| 20:9 | But I had respect to my Name, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whome they were, and in whose sight I made my selfe knowen vnto them in bringing them forth of the land of Egypt. |
| 20:10 | Nowe I caried them out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wildernes. |
| 20:11 | And I gaue them my statutes, and declared my iudgements vnto them, which if a man doe, he shall liue in them. |

| 20:15 | Yet neuerthelesse, I lift vp mine hande vnto them in the wildernes that I would not bring them into the lande, which I had giuen them, flowing with milke and hony, which was pleasant aboue all landes, |
| 20:16 | Because they cast away my iudgments, and walked not in my statutes, but haue polluted my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idoles. |
| 20:17 | Neuerthelesse, mine eye spared them, that I would not destroye them, neither would I consume them in the wildernes. |
| 20:18 | But I said vnto their children in the wildernes, Walke ye not in the ordinances of your fathers, neither obserue their maners, nor defile your selues with their idoles. |
| 20:19 | I am the Lord your God: walke in my statutes, and keepe my iudgements and doe them, |
| 20:20 | And sanctifie my Sabbaths, and they shall bee a signe betweene mee and you, that ye may knowe that I am the Lord your God. |

| 20:26 | And I polluted them in their owne giftes in that they caused to passe by the fire all that first openeth ye wombe, that I might destroy them, to the ende, that they might know that I am ye Lord. |
| 20:27 | Therefore, sonne of man, speake vnto the house of Israel, and say vnto them, Thus saith the Lord God, Yet in this your fathers haue blasphemed me, though they had before grieuously transgressed against me. |
| 20:28 | For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted vp mine hand to giue it to them, then they saw euery hie hill, and all the thicke trees, and they offred there their sacrifices, and there they presented their offering of prouocation: there also they made their sweete sauour, and powred out there their drinke offerings. |
| 20:29 | Then I saide vnto them, What is the hie place whereunto ye goe? And the name thereof was called Bamah vnto this day. |
| 20:30 | Wherefore, say vnto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God, Are ye not polluted after the maner of your fathers? and commit ye not whoredome after their abominations? |
| 20:31 | For when you offer your giftes, and make your sonnes to passe through the fire, you pollute your selues with all your idoles vnto this day: shall I answere you when I am asked, O house of Israel? As I liue, saith the Lord God, I wil not answere you when I am asked. |
| 20:32 | Neither shall that be done that commeth into your minde: for ye say, We wil be as the heathen, and as the families of the countreys, and serue wood, and stone. |
| 20:33 | As I liue, saith the Lord God, I will surely rule you with a mightie hand, and with a stretched out arme, and in my wrath powred out, |
| 20:34 | And will bring you from the people, and will gather you out of the countreys, wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arme, and in my wrath powred out, |
| 20:35 | And I will bring you into the wildernes of the people, and there wil I pleade with you face to face. |
| 20:36 | Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wildernes of the lande of Egypt, so will I pleade with you, saith the Lord God. |
| 20:37 | And I wil cause you to passe vnder the rod, and wil bring you into the bond of the couenant. |
| 20:38 | And I wil chuse out from among you the rebels, and them that transgresse against mee: I will bring them out of the land where they dwel, and they shall not enter into the lande of Israel, and you shall knowe that I am the Lord. |
| 20:39 | As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God, Goe you, and serue euery one his idole, seeing that ye will not obey me, and pollute mine holy Name no more with your giftes and with your idoles. |
| 20:40 | For in mine holy mountaine, euen in the hie mountaine of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, and all in the lande, serue me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offrings and the first fruites of your oblations, with all your holy things. |

| 20:43 | And there shall ye remember your wayes, and all your workes, wherein ye haue bene defiled, and ye shall iudge your selues worthy to be cut off, for all your euils, that ye haue committed. |
| 20:44 | And ye shall knowe, that I am the Lord, when I haue respect vnto you for my Names sake, and not after your wicked wayes, nor according to your corrupt workes, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God. |
| 20:45 | Moreouer, the worde of the Lord came vnto me, saying, |
| 20:46 | Sonne of man, set thy face toward the way of Teman, and drop thy word toward the South, and prophecie towarde the forest of the fielde of the South, |
| 20:47 | And say to the forest of the South, Heare the worde of the Lord: thus saith the Lord God, Beholde, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall deuoure all the greene wood in thee, and all the drie wood: the continuall flame shall not bee quenched, and euery face from the South to the North shall be burnt therein. |
| 20:48 | And all flesh shall see, that I the Lord haue kindled it, and it shall not bee quenched. Then saide I, Ah Lord God, they say of me, Doeth not he speake parables? |

| 20:1 | In the .vij. yeare the .x. daye of the .v. moneth, it happened, that certayne of the elders of Israel came vnto me, for to aske councell at the Lorde, & sat them downe by me. |
| 20:2 | Then came the worde of the Lorde vnto me on thys maner: |
| 20:3 | Thou sonne of man: speake vnto the elders of Israel, & saye vnto them: Thus sayeth the Lord God: Are ye come hyther to aske eny thynge at me? As truly as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde) |
| 20:4 | I will geue you no answere. Wilt thou not reproue them (thou sonne of man) wilt thou not reproue them? Shewe them the abhominacyons of their fore fathers, |
| 20:5 | & tell them. Thus sayeth the Lorde God: In the daye when I chose Israel, and lyft vp myne hande vpon the sede of the house of Iacob, & shewed my selfe vnto them in the lande of Egypte: Yee, when I lyfte vp myne hande ouer them, and sayde: I am the Lorde youre God, |
| 20:6 | euen in the daye that I lyft vp myne hande ouer them, to bringe them out of the lande of Egypte, into a lande that I had prouyded for them, which floweth with mylcke & hony, & is a pleasaunt lande amonge all other. |
| 20:7 | Then sayde I vnto them: Cast awaye euery man the abhominacions that he hath before him, and defyle not youre selues with the Idoles of Egypte, for I am the Lorde youre God. |
| 20:8 | But they rebelled agaynst me, and wolde not folowe me: to cast awaye euery man the abhominacyons of hys eyes, and to forsake the Idoles of Egypte. Then I made me to poure myne indignacyon ouer them, & to satisfye my wrath vpon them: yee, euen in the myddest of the lande of Egypte. |
| 20:9 | But I wolde not do it, for my names sake: that it shulde not be vnhalowed before the Heathen, amonge whom they dwelt, & amonge whom I shewed my selfe vnto them, that I wolde brynge them out of the lande of Egypte. |
| 20:10 | Now when I had caryed them out of the lande of Egypte, and brought them into the wyldernesse: |
| 20:11 | I gaue them my commaundementes, & shewed them my lawes, which whoso kepeth shall lyue in them: |
| 20:12 | I gaue them also my holy dayes, to be a token betwixte me & them, & therby to knowe, that I am the Lorde, which halowe them. |
| 20:13 | And yet the house of Israel rebelled agaynst me in the wyldernesse, they wolde not walcke in my commaundementes, they haue cast a waye my lawes (which whoso kepeth shulde lyue in them) and my Sabboth dayes haue they greatly vnhalowed. Then I made me to poure out myne indignacyon vpon them, & to consume them in the wyldernesse. |
| 20:14 | Yet I wolde not do it, for my names sake: lest it shulde be dishonoured before the Heathen, from the whych I had caryed them awaye. |
| 20:15 | But I swore vnto them in the wyldernesse, that I wolde not brynge them in to the lande, which I gaue them: a lande that floweth with mylcke and hony, & is a pleasure of all landes: |
| 20:16 | and that because they refused my lawes, and walcked not in my commaundementes, but had vnhalowed my Sabbathes, for their herte was gone after their ydoles. |
| 20:17 | Neuerthelesse, myne eye spared them, so that I wolde not vtterly slaye them and consume them in the wyldernes. |
| 20:18 | Moreouer, I sayde vnto their sonnes in the wyldernesse: walcke not in the statutes of youre fore fathers, kepe not their ordinaunces, and defyle not your selues with their ydoles, |
| 20:19 | for I am the Lorde youre God. But walcke in my statutes, kepe my lawes & do them, |
| 20:20 | halowe my Sabbathes: for they are a token betwixte me & you, that ye maye knowe howe that I am the Lorde your God. |
| 20:21 | Notwythstandynge, their sonnes rebelled agaynst me also: they walked not in my statutes they kepte not my lawes to fulfyll them (which he that doth shall lyue in them) nether halowed they my Sabboth dayes. Then I made me agayne to poure out my indignacion ouer them, & to satisfye my wrath vpon them in the wyldernesse. |
| 20:22 | Neuerthelesse, I wythdrewe my hande for my names sake, lest it shulde be vnhalowed amonge the Heathen, before whom I had brought them forth. |
| 20:23 | I lyft vp myne hande ouer them also in the wyldernesse, that I wolde scatre them amonge the Heathen, & strowe them amonge the nacyons, |
| 20:24 | because they had not kepte my lawes, but cast asyde my commaundementes, vnhalowed my Sabbathes, and lyft vp their eyes to their fathers Idoles. |
| 20:25 | Wherfore I gaue them also commaundementes not good, & lawes thorowe the whych they shulde not lyue, |
| 20:26 | & I vnhalowed them in their awne giftes (when I appointed for my selfe all their fyrst borne) to make them desolate: that they myght knowe, howe that I am the Lorde. |
| 20:27 | Therfore (O thou sonne of man, tell the house of Israel, thus sayeth the Lorde God) Besyde all thys, youre fore fathers haue yet blasphemed me more, and greatly offended agaynst me. |
| 20:28 | For after I had brought them in to the lande, that I promysed to geue them, when they sawe euery hye hyll & all the thicke trees: they made there their offrynges, & prouoked me wyth their oblacyons, makynge swete sauoures there, and powred out their drinckoffrynges. |
| 20:29 | Then I asked them what is that hyll altare that ye go to it? And therfore is it called the hye place vnto this daye. |
| 20:30 | Wherfore, speake vnto the house of Israel: Thus sayeth the Lorde God: ye are euen as vnclene as youre fore fathers & commytte whordome also with their abhominacyons. |
| 20:31 | In all youre ydoles, where vnto ye brynge your oblacyons, and to whose honoure ye burne youre chyldren: ye, defyle youre selues, euen vnto thys daye: howe darre ye then come, and aske any questyon at me? O ye housholde of Israel? As truly as I lyue (sayeth the Lorde God) ye get no answere of me: |
| 20:32 | and as for the thynge that ye go aboute, it shall not come to passe, where as ye saye: we wyll be as the Heathen, & do as other people in the lande, wod and stone wyll we worshyppe. |
| 20:33 | As truly as I lyue, sayeth the Lord God, I my selfe wyll rule you wt a mightye hande, with a stretched out arme, & with indignacyon powred out ouer you: |
| 20:34 | and will brynge you out of the nacyons and landes, wherin ye are scatred, and gather you together with a myghtye hande, with a stretched out arme & wt indignacyon poured out vpon you: |
| 20:35 | and wyll bringe you in to the wyldernesse of the people, & there I will reason with you face to face. |
| 20:36 | Lyke as I punyshed youre fore fathers in the wildernesse, so will I punyshe you also, sayeth the Lorde God. |
| 20:37 | I will bringe you vnder my iurisdiccyon, and vnder the bonde of the couenannt. |
| 20:38 | The forsakers also and the transgressours will I take from amonge you, & bringe them out of the lande of youre habitacyon: as for the lande of Israel, they shall not come in it: that you maye knowe howe that I am the Lorde. |
| 20:39 | Go to nowe then (sayeth the Lorde God) ye house of Israel Euery one of you folowe your ydols, and serue them seynge ye refuse to obeye me. And my holy name shall ye nomore vnhalowe with your offringes and Idoles. |
| 20:40 | For vpon my holy hyll, euen vpon the hye hill of Israel sayth the Lord God, shall all the house of Israel and all that is in the lande, worshyppe me: and in the same place will I fauoure them, and there will I requyre your heaue offringes and the fyrstlynges of your oblacyons, with all youre holy thynges. |
| 20:41 | I will accepte youre swete sauoure, when I bringe you from the nacyons, and gather you together out of the landes, wherin ye be scatred: that I maye be halowed in you before the Heathen, |
| 20:42 | and that ye maye knowe, that I am the Lorde, whych haue brought you into the lande of Israel: yee, into the same lande, that I swore to geue vnto youre forefathers. |
| 20:43 | There shall ye call to remembraunce your awne wayes & all your ymaginacyons, wherin ye haue bene defyled: and ye shall iudge youre selues worthy to be destroyed, for all youre wickednes, that ye haue done. |
| 20:44 | And ye shall knowe, that I am the Lord: when I entreate you after my name, not after youre wycked wayes, ner accordinge to youre corrupte workes: O ye house of Israel, sayeth the lord. |
| 20:45 | Moreouer, the worde of the Lorde came vnto me, sayinge: |
| 20:46 | Thou sonne of man, set thy face towarde the south, & speake to the south wynde, |
| 20:47 | & saye to the wod towarde the south: Heare the worde of the Lorde, thus sayeth the Lorde God: Beholde, I wyll kyndle a fyre in the, that shall consume the grene trees with the drye. No man shalbe able to quench hys flame, but all that loketh from the south to the north, shalbe brent therin: |
| 20:48 | & all fleshe shall se, that I the Lorde haue kyndled it, so that no man maye quench it. |
