Ezekiel - Chapter: 23


23:1	And there is a word of Jehovah unto me, saying, `Son of man,
23:2	Two women were daughters of one mother,
23:3	And they go a-whoring in Egypt, In their youth they have gone a-whoring, There they have bruised their breasts, And there they have dealt with the loves of their virginity.
23:4	And their names `are' Aholah the elder, And Aholibah her sister, And they are Mine, and bear sons and daughters. As to their names -- Samaria `is' Aholah, And Jerusalem `is' Aholibah.
23:5	And go a-whoring doth Aholah under Me, And she doteth on her lovers, On the neighbouring Assyrians,
23:6	Clothed with blue -- governors and prefects, Desirable young men all of them, Horsemen, riding on horses,
23:7	And she giveth her whoredoms on them, The choice of the sons of Asshur, All of them -- even all on whom she doted, By all their idols she hath been defiled.
23:8	And her whoredoms out of Egypt she hath not forsaken, For with her they lay in her youth, And they dealt with the loves of her virginity, And they pour out their whoredoms on her.
23:9	Therefore I have given her into the hand of her lovers, Into the hand of sons of Asshur on whom she doted.
23:10	They have uncovered her nakedness, Her sons and her daughters they have taken, And her by sword they have slain, And she is a name for women, And judgments they have done with her.
23:11	And see doth her sister Aholibah, And she maketh her doting love more corrupt than she, And her whoredoms than the whoredoms of her sister.
23:12	On sons of Asshur she hath doted, Governors and prefects, Neighbouring ones -- clothed in perfection, Horsemen, riding on horses, Desirable young men all of them.
23:13	And I see that she hath been defiled, One way `is' to them both.
23:14	And she doth add unto her whoredoms, And she seeth graved men on the wall, Pictures of Chaldeans, graved with red lead,
23:15	Girded with a girdle on their loins, Dyed attire spread out on their heads, The appearance of rulers -- all of them, The likeness of sons of Babylon, Chaldea is the land of their birth.
23:16	And she doteth on them at the sight of her eyes, And sendeth messengers to them, to Chaldea.
23:17	And come in unto her do sons of Babylon, To the bed of loves, And they defile her with their whoredoms, And she is defiled with them, And her soul is alienated from them.
23:18	And she revealeth her whoredoms, And she revealeth her nakedness, And alienated is My soul from off her, As alienated was My soul from off her sister.
23:19	And she multiplieth her whoredoms, To remember the days of her youth, When she went a-whoring in the land of Egypt.
23:20	And she doteth on their paramours, Whose flesh `is' the flesh of asses, And the issue of horses -- their issue.
23:21	Thou lookest after the wickedness of thy youth, In dealing out of Egypt thy loves, For the sake of the breasts of thy youth.
23:22	Therefore, O Aholibah, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am stirring up thy lovers against thee, From whom thy soul hath been alienated, And have brought them in against thee from round about.
23:23	Sons of Babylon, and of all Chaldea, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, All the sons of Asshur with them, Desirable young men, governors and prefects, All of them -- rulers and proclaimed ones, Riding on horses, all of them.
23:24	And they have come in against thee, With arms, rider, and wheel, And with an assembly of peoples; Target, and shield, and helmet, They do set against thee round about, And I have set before them judgment, They have judged thee in their Judgments.
23:25	And I have set My jealousy against thee, And they have dealt with thee in fury, Thy nose and thine ears they turn aside, And thy posterity by sword falleth, They, thy sons and thy daughters do take away, And thy posterity is devoured by fire.
23:26	And they have stripped thee of thy garments, And have taken thy beauteous jewels.
23:27	And I have caused thy wickedness to cease from thee, And thy whoredoms out of the land of Egypt, And thou liftest not up thine eyes unto them, And Egypt thou dost not remember again.
23:28	For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Lo, I am giving thee into a hand that thou hast hated, Into a hand from which thou wast alienated.
23:29	And they have dealt with thee in hatred, And they have taken all thy labour, And they have left thee naked and bare, And revealed hath been the nakedness of thy whoredoms, And the wickedness of thy whoredoms.
23:30	To do these things to thee, In thy going a-whoring after nations, Because thou hast been defiled with their idols,
23:31	In the way of thy sister thou hast walked, And I have given her cup into thy hand.
23:32	Thus said the Lord Jehovah: The cup of thy sister thou dost drink, The deep and the wide one, (Thou art for laughter and for scorn,) Abundant to contain.
23:33	With drunkenness and sorrow thou art filled, A cup of astonishment and desolation, The cup of thy sister Samaria.
23:34	And thou hast drunk it, and hast drained `it', And its earthen ware thou dost gnaw, And thine own breasts thou pluckest off, For I have spoken, An affirmation of the Lord Jehovah,
23:35	Therefore, thus said the Lord Jehovah: Because thou hast forgotten Me, And thou dost cast Me behind thy back, Even thou also bear thy wickedness and thy whoredoms.'
23:36	And Jehovah saith unto me, `Son of man, Dost thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? Declare then to them their abominations.
23:37	For they have committed adultery, And blood `is' in their hands, With their idols they committed adultery, And also their sons whom they bore to Me, They caused to pass over to them for food.
23:38	Again, this they have done to Me, They defiled My sanctuary in that day, And My sabbaths they have polluted.
23:39	And in their slaughtering their sons to their idols They also come in unto My sanctuary in that day to pollute it, And lo, thus they have done in the midst of My house,
23:40	And also that they send to men coming from afar, Unto whom a messenger is sent, And lo, they have come in for whom thou hast washed, Painted thine eyes, and put on adornment.
23:41	And thou hast sat on a couch of honour, And a table arrayed before it, And My perfume and My oil placed on it.
23:42	And the voice of a multitude at ease `is' with her, And unto men of the common people are brought in Sabeans from the wilderness, And they put bracelets on their hands, And a beauteous crown on their heads.
23:43	And I say of the worn-out one in adulteries, Now they commit her whoredoms -- she also!
23:44	And they come in unto her, As the coming in unto a whorish woman, So they have come in unto Aholah, And unto Aholibah -- the wicked women.
23:45	As to righteous men, they judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, And the judgment of women shedding blood, For they `are' adulteresses, And blood `is' in their hands.
23:46	For thus said the Lord Jehovah: Bring up against them an assembly, And give them to trembling and to spoiling.
23:47	And they have cast at them the stone of the assembly, And cut them with their swords, Their sons and their daughters they do slay, And their houses with fire they burn.
23:48	And I have caused wickedness to cease from the land, And instructed have been all the women, And they do not according to your wickedness.
23:49	And they have put your wickedness on you, And the sins of your idols ye bear, And ye have known that I `am' the Lord Jehovah!


23:1	The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
23:2	Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother:
23:3	And they committed whoredoms in Egypt; they committed whoredoms in their youth: there were their breasts pressed, and there they bruised the teats of their virginity.
23:4	And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.
23:5	And Aholah played the harlot when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the Assyrians her neighbours,
23:6	Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses.
23:7	Thus she committed her whoredoms with them, with all them that were the chosen men of Assyria, and with all on whom she doted: with all their idols she defiled herself.
23:8	Neither left she her whoredoms brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their whoredom upon her.
23:9	Wherefore I have delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she doted.
23:10	These discovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and slew her with the sword: and she became famous among women; for they had executed judgment upon her.
23:11	And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she, and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms.
23:12	She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men.
23:13	Then I saw that she was defiled, that they took both one way,
23:14	And that she increased her whoredoms: for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion,
23:15	Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity:
23:16	And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she doted upon them, and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea.
23:17	And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love, and they defiled her with their whoredom, and she was polluted with them, and her mind was alienated from them.
23:18	So she discovered her whoredoms, and discovered her nakedness: then my mind was alienated from her, like as my mind was alienated from her sister.
23:19	Yet she multiplied her whoredoms, in calling to remembrance the days of her youth, wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.
23:20	For she doted upon their paramours, whose flesh is as the flesh of asses, and whose issue is like the issue of horses.
23:21	Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth, in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth.
23:22	Therefore, O Aholibah, thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will raise up thy lovers against thee, from whom thy mind is alienated, and I will bring them against thee on every side;
23:23	The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and renowned, all of them riding upon horses.
23:24	And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
23:25	And I will set my jealousy against thee, and they shall deal furiously with thee: they shall take away thy nose and thine ears; and thy remnant shall fall by the sword: they shall take thy sons and thy daughters; and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire.
23:26	They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes, and take away thy fair jewels.
23:27	Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee, and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt: so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them, nor remember Egypt any more.
23:28	For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest, into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated:
23:29	And they shall deal with thee hatefully, and shall take away all thy labour, and shall leave thee naked and bare: and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered, both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.
23:30	I will do these things unto thee, because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen, and because thou art polluted with their idols.
23:31	Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister; therefore will I give her cup into thine hand.
23:32	Thus saith the Lord GOD; Thou shalt drink of thy sister's cup deep and large: thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision; it containeth much.
23:33	Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, with the cup of astonishment and desolation, with the cup of thy sister Samaria.
23:34	Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out, and thou shalt break the sherds thereof, and pluck off thine own breasts: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
23:35	Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast forgotten me, and cast me behind thy back, therefore bear thou also thy lewdness and thy whoredoms.
23:36	The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations;
23:37	That they have committed adultery, and blood is in their hands, and with their idols have they committed adultery, and have also caused their sons, whom they bare unto me, to pass for them through the fire, to devour them.
23:38	Moreover this they have done unto me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my sabbaths.
23:39	For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my sanctuary to profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.
23:40	And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far, unto whom a messenger was sent; and, lo, they came: for whom thou didst wash thyself, paintedst thy eyes, and deckedst thyself with ornaments,
23:41	And satest upon a stately bed, and a table prepared before it, whereupon thou hast set mine incense and mine oil.
23:42	And a voice of a multitude being at ease was with her: and with the men of the common sort were brought Sabeans from the wilderness, which put bracelets upon their hands, and beautiful crowns upon their heads.
23:43	Then said I unto her that was old in adulteries, Will they now commit whoredoms with her, and she with them?
23:44	Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that playeth the harlot: so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.
23:45	And the righteous men, they shall judge them after the manner of adulteresses, and after the manner of women that shed blood; because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
23:46	For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will bring up a company upon them, and will give them to be removed and spoiled.
23:47	And the company shall stone them with stones, and dispatch them with their swords; they shall slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
23:48	Thus will I cause lewdness to cease out of the land, that all women may be taught not to do after your lewdness.
23:49	And they shall recompense your lewdness upon you, and ye shall bear the sins of your idols: and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD.

23:3	And they fornicated in Egypt; in their youth they fornicated. Their breasts were handled, and there their virgin nipples were worked.
23:4	And their names were Oholah, the oldest, and Oholibah, her sister. And they were Mine, and they bore sons and daughters. And their names: Samaria is Oholah, and Jerusalem is Oholibah.
23:5	And Oholah whored under Me. And she lusted after her lovers, to Assyrian neighbors,
23:6	clothed with purple, governors and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding horses.
23:7	And she bestowed her harlotries on them, the choice sons of Assyria, with all of them, and with all after whom she lusted. She defiled herself with all their idols.
23:8	And she did not leave her fornications from Egypt. For they lay with her in her youth, and they worked her virgin nipples and poured their fornications on her.
23:9	So I have given her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the sons of Assyria on whom she lusted.
23:10	They uncovered her nakedness. They took her sons and her daughters. And they killed her with the sword. And she became notorious among women, and they executed judgments on her.
23:11	And her sister Oholibah saw. And she was more corrupt in her lustfulness than she, and her fornications were greater than her sister's whoredom.
23:12	She lusted to the sons of Assyria, neighboring governors and rulers clothed most perfectly, horsemen riding horses, all of them desirable young men.
23:13	Then I saw that she was defiled, one way was to both of them.
23:14	And she added to her fornications. And she saw men carved on the wall, images of the Chaldeans engraved with red color,
23:15	girded with girdles on their loins, with overflowing turbans on their heads, the look of rulers, all of them, like the sons of Babylon in Chaldea, the land of their birth.
23:16	And she lusted after them, to the look of her eyes, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea.
23:17	And the sons of Babylon came to her, to the bed of love. And they defiled her with their fornications. And she was defiled with them, and her soul was alienated from them.
23:18	And she uncovered her fornications and uncovered her nakedness. Then My soul was alienated from her just as My soul was alienated from her sister.
23:19	And she multiplied her fornications to recall the days of her youth, in which she had fornicated in the land of Egypt.
23:20	And she lusted on their lovers of whom the flesh of asses resembles their flesh, and as the issue of horses was their issue.
23:21	So you longed for the wickedness of your youth, when from Egypt they worked your nipples, for the sake of the breasts of your youth.
23:22	So, O Oholibah, the Lord Jehovah says this: Behold, I will arouse your lovers against you, from whom your soul is alienated. And I will bring them against you from all around,
23:23	Babylon's sons and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, all the sons of Assyria with them, desirable young men, governors and rulers, all of them, third heads and called ones, all of them riding horses.
23:24	And they shall come against you with weapons, chariots, and wheels, and with a group of peoples; buckler and shield and helmet shall set against you all around. And I will give before them judgment, and they will judge you by their judgments.
23:25	And I will give My jealousy against you, and they will deal with you in fury. Your nose and your ears they will take, and the rest of you shall fall by the sword. They will take your sons and your daughters, and the rest of you shall be devoured by the fire.
23:26	And they will strip you of your clothes, and take the articles of your beauty.
23:27	And I will cause your wickedness to cease from you, and your fornication from the land of Egypt. And you shall not lift up your eyes to them, and Egypt shall not be remembered by you any more.
23:28	For so says the Lord Jehovah: Behold, I will give you in the hand of those whom you hate, in the hand of whom your soul was alienated from them.
23:29	And they shall deal with you in hatred and take all your wealth, and shall leave you naked and bare. And the nudity of your adulteries will be bared, even your lewdness and your fornications.
23:30	These will be done to you because you have whored after the nations, because you are defiled with their idols.
23:31	You have walked in the way of your sister, and I will give her cup into your hand.
23:32	So says the Lord Jehovah: You shall drink your sister's cup deep and wide; you shall be laughed at and mocked, for it holds much.
23:33	With drunkenness and sorrow you are filled, the cup of horror and ruin, the cup of your sister Samaria.
23:34	And you shall drink it and drain it. And you shall break its fragments and tear off your breasts. For I have spoken, declares the Lord Jehovah.
23:35	So the Lord Jehovah says this: Because you have forgotten Me and cast Me behind your back, so also you bear your wickedness and your adulteries.
23:36	And Jehovah said to me, Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then declare to them their abominations.
23:37	For they committed adultery, and blood is on their hands. Yea, they committed adultery with their idols, and even their sons whom they bore to Me, they cause to pass to them to be consumed.
23:38	Even still they have done this to Me: They have defiled My sanctuary in that day, and have profaned My sabbaths.
23:39	And when they had slain their sons to their idols, then they came into My sanctuary in that day to profane it. And, lo, this they have done in the midst of My house.
23:40	Furthermore, they have sent for men to come from a distance, of whom a messenger was sent to them. And behold, they came, for whom you washed, painted your eyes, and were adorned with gems.
23:41	And you sat on a glorious bed, and a table was arranged before it, and My incense and My oil you set on it.
23:42	And the sound of a crowd at ease was with her, and drunkards from the wilderness were brought with the men of the host of mankind. And they put bracelets on their hands and crowns of beauty on their heads.
23:43	Then I said about the one worn in adulteries, Will they now fornicate with her, and she with them ?
23:44	And they went in to her. As they go in to a woman of harlotry, so they went in to Oholah and to Oholibah, the wicked women.
23:45	And as righteous men, they shall judge them with the judgment of adulteresses, and the judgment of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses, and blood is in their hands.
23:46	For so says the Lord Jehovah: Bring up on them an assembly, and give them to terror and plunder.
23:47	And the assembly shall stone them with stones and cut them down with their swords. They shall slay their sons and their daughters, and they shall burn their houses with fire.
23:48	So I will cause to cease wickedness out of the land, that all the women may be taught, even not to do according to your wickedness.
23:49	And they shall put your wickedness on you, and you shall bear the sins of your idols. And you shall know that I am the Lord Jehovah.
