3:1	Nabuchodonosor the kynge caused a golden Image to be made, whych was .lx. cubytes hye, and syxe cubytes thycke. This he made to be set vp in the felde of Dura in the land of Babylo
3:2	& sent oute to gather together the dukes, Lordes and nobles, the iudges and officers, the debytes and shreues: with all the rulers of the lande: that they myght come to the dedicacyon of the Image which Nabuchodonosor the kynge had set vp.
3:3	So the dukes, Lordes and nobles, the iudges and offycers, debytes and shreues with all the rulers of the lande gathered them together, and came vnto the dedycatynge of the Image, that Nabuchodonosor the kynge had set vp. Nowe when they stode before the Image, which Nabuchodonosor set vp,
3:4	the bedel cried out with all his might: O ye people, kynreddes and tunges, to you be it sayde:
3:5	that when ye heare the noyse of the trompettes, which shalbe blowen, with the harpes, shawmes, Psalteries, Symphonies and all maner of Musick: ye fall downe and worshippe the golden Image, that Nabuchodonosor the kynge hath set vp.
3:6	Whoso then falleth not downe & boweth him selfe, shall euen the same houre be cast into an hote burnynge ouen.
3:7	Therfore, when all the folcke herde the noyse of the trompettes that were blowen, with the harpes, shawmes, Psalteries, Symphonies and all kynde of Melody, then all the people, kynreddes and nacyons fell downe, and bowed them selues vnto the golden Image, that Nabuchodonosor the kynge had set vp.
3:8	Now were there certayne men of the Caldees, that wente euen then and accused the Iewes,
3:9	and sayde vnto the kynge Nabuchodonosor: O kyng, God saue thy lyfe for euer,
3:10	Thou beynge kynge hast geuen a commaundement, that all men when they heare the noyse of the trompettes, harpes, shawmes, psalteries, symphonies and all the other melodies: shall fall downe and bowe them selues towarde the golden Image:
3:11	whoso then fell not downe & worshypped not that, he shulde be cast into an hote burnynge ouen.
3:12	Nowe are there certayne Iewes, whom thou hast set ouer the offyces of the lande of Babylon: namely, Sydrach: Mysach and Abednago. These men (O kyng) regarde not thy commaundment, yee, they wyll not serue thy goddes, ner bowe them selues to the golden Image, that thou hast set vp.
3:13	Then Nabuchodonosor in a cruell wrath and displeasure, commaunded, that Sidrach Misach and Abednago shulde be brought vnto hym. So these men were brought before the kynge.
3:14	Then Nabuchodonosor spake vnto them, & sayde: what? O Sidrach Misach and Abednago, wyll not ye serue my goddes? nor bowe youre selues to the golden Image, that I haue set vp.
3:15	Well, be redy herafter, when ye heare the noyse of the trompettes blowe with the harpes, shawmes, psalteries, symphonyes and all the other melodyes: that ye fall downe, and worshyppe the Image which I haue made. But yf ye worshyppe it not, ye shall be cast immediatly into an hote burnyng ouen. Let se, what God is there, that maye delyuer you oute of my handes?
3:16	Sydrach, Misach and Abednago answered the kynge, & sayde: O Nabuchodonosor, we ought not to consente vnto the in this matter, for why?
3:17	oure God whom we serue, is able to kepe vs from the hote burnyng ouen (O kynge) and can ryght well delyuer vs out of thy handes.
3:18	And though he wyll not, yet shalt thou knowe (O kyng) that we will not serue thy goddes, ner do reuerence to the Image, which thou hast set vp.
3:19	Then was Nabuchodonosor full of indignacyon, so that the countenaunce of his face chaunged vpon Sidrach, Misach, and Abednago. Therfore he charged and commaunded, that the ouen shuld be made seuen tymes hotter, then it was wonte to be:
3:20	& spake vnto the strongest worthies that were in his hoste, for to bynde Sidrach, Misach and Abednago, and to cast them into the hote burnynge ouen.
3:21	So these men were bounde in their cotes hosen, shues wyth their other garmentes, & cast into the hote burnynge ouen:
3:22	for the kynges commaundement was so strayte, and the ouen was excedynge hote. As for the men that put in Sidrach, Misach & Abednago, the flamme of the fyre destroyed them.
3:23	And these thre men Sidrach, Misach & Abednago fell downe in the hote burnynge ouen, beynge faste bounde.
3:24	Then Nabuchodonosor the kyng marueled and stode vp in all hast: he spake vnto hys councell and sayde: dyd not ye cast these thre men bounde into the fyre? They answered, and sayde vnto the king: Yee, O kynge.
3:25	He answered, and sayde: lo, for all that, yet do I se foure men going lowse in the myddest of the fyer, and nothynge corrupte: and the fourth is lyke the sonne of God to loke vpon.
3:26	Upon thys went Nabuchodonosor vnto the mouth of the hote burning ouen: he spake also, and sayde: O Sidrach, Misach and Abednago, ye seruauntes of the hye God, go forth, & come hyther. And so Sidrach, Misach & Abednago went out of the fier.
3:27	Then the dukes, lordes & nobles, & the kinges councell came together to se these men, vpon whom the fyer had no maner of power in theyr bodies. In somoch that the very here of their heed was not burnt, & theyr clothes vnchaunged: yee, there was no smell of fier felt vpon them.
3:28	Then spake Nabuchodonosor, and sayde, Blessed be the God of Sidrach, Misach and Abednago: which hath sent his angell, and defended his seruauntes, that put theyr trust in him: that haue altered the kinges commaundement: and ieoperde their bodies ther vpon: rather then they wolde serue or worshippe eny other God, excepte their awne God onely.
3:29	Therfore I wyll and commaunde, that all people, kynredes and tunges, which speake any blasphemy agaynst the God of Sydrach, Misach, and Abednago, shall dye, and their houses shalbe prysed: Because, there is no God that maye saue, as thys.
3:30	So the kynge promoted Sidrach, Misach, & Abdenego, in the lande of Babylon.


3:1	Nabugodonosor, the kyng, made a goldun ymage, in the heiythe of sixti cubitis, and in the breede of sixe cubitis; and he settide it in the feeld of Duram, of the prouynce of Babiloyne.
3:2	Therfor Nabugodonosor sente to gadere togidere the wise men, magistratis, and iugis, and duykis, and tirauntis, and prefectis, and alle princes of cuntreis, that thei schulden come togidere to the halewyng of the ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor hadde reisid.
3:3	Thanne the wise men, magistratis, and iugis, and duykis, and tirauntis, and beste men, that weren set in poweris, and alle the princes of cuntreis, weren gaderid togidere, that thei schulden come togidere to the halewyng of the ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor hadde reisid. Forsothe thei stoden in the siyt of the ymage, which Nabugodonosor hadde set; and a bedele criede myytili,
3:4	It is seid to you, puplis, kynredis, and langagis;
3:5	in the our in which ye heren the soun of trumpe, and of pipe, and of harpe, of sambuke, of sawtre, and of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, falle ye doun, and worschipe the goldun ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor made.
3:6	Sotheli if ony man fallith not doun, and worschipith not, in the same our he schal be sent in to the furneis of fier brennynge.
3:7	Therfor aftir these thingis, anoon as alle puplis herden the sown of trumpe, of pipe, and of harpe, of sambuke, and of sawtre, of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, alle puplis, lynagis, and langagis fellen doun, and worschipiden the golden ymage, which the kyng Nabugodonosor hadde maad.
3:8	And anoon in that tyme men of Caldee neiyiden, and accusiden the Jewis,
3:9	and seiden to the kyng Nabugodonosor, Kyng, lyue thou with outen ende.
3:10	Thou, kyng, hast set a decree, that ech man that herith the sown of trumpe, of pipe, and of harpe, of sambuke, and of sawtree, and of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, bowe doun hym silf, and worschipe the goldun ymage; forsothe if ony man fallith not doun,
3:11	and worschipith not, be he sent in to the furneis of fier brennynge.
3:12	Therfor men Jewis ben, Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, whiche thou hast ordeynede on the werkis of the cuntrei of Babiloyne. Thou kyng, these men han dispisid thi decree; thei onouren not thi goddis, and thei worshipen not the goldun ymage, which thou reisidist.
3:13	Thanne Nabugodonosor comaundide, in woodnesse and in wraththe, that Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago schulden be brouyt; whiche weren brouyt anoon in the siyt of the kyng.
3:14	And the kyng Nabugodonosor pronounside, and seide to hem, Whether verili Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, ye onouren not my goddis, and worschipen not the golden ymage, which Y made?
3:15	Now therfor be ye redi, in what euer our ye heren the sown of trumpe, of pipe, of harpe, of sambuke, of sawtree, and of symphonye, and of al kynde of musikis, bowe ye doun you, and worschipe the ymage which Y made; that if ye worschipen not, in the same our ye schulen be sent in to the furneis of fier brennynge; and who is God, that schal delyuere you fro myn hond?
3:16	Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago answeriden, and seiden to the king Nabugodonosor, It nedith not, that we answere of this thing to thee.
3:17	For whi oure God, whom we worschipen, mai rauysche vs fro the chymenei of fier brennynge, and mai delyuere fro thin hondis, thou kyng.
3:18	That if he nyle, be it knowun to thee, thou kyng, that we onouren not thi goddis, and we worschipen not the goldun ymage, which thou hast reisid.
3:19	Thanne Nabugodonosor was fillid of woodnesse, and the biholdyng of his face was chaungid on Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago. And he comaundide, that the furneis schulde be maad hattere seuenfold, than it was wont to be maad hoot.
3:20	And he comaundide to the strongeste men of his oost, that thei schulden bynde the feet of Sidrac, Mysaac, and Abdenago, and sende hem in to the furneis of fier brennynge.
3:21	And anoon tho men weren boundun, with brechis, and cappis, and schoon, and clothis, and weren sent in to the myddis of the furneis of fier brennynge;
3:22	for whi comaundement of the kyng constreinede. Forsothe the furneis was maad ful hoot; certis the flawme of the fier killid tho men, that hadden sent Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago in to the furneis.
3:23	Sotheli these thre men, Sidrac, Misaac, and Abdenago, fellen doun boundun in the mydis of the chymenei of fier brennynge.
3:24	And thei walkiden in the myddis of the flawme, and herieden God, and blessiden the Lord.
3:25	Forsothe Asarie stoode, and preiede thus; and he openyde his mouth in the myddis of the fier,
3:26	and seide, Lord God of oure fadris, thou art blessid, and worthi to be heried, and thi name is glorious in to worldis;
3:27	for thou art riytful in alle thingis whiche thou didist to vs, and alle thi werkis ben trewe; and thi weies ben riytful, and alle thi domes ben trewe.
3:28	For thou hast do trewe domes, bi alle thingis whiche thou brouytist yn on vs, and on Jerusalem, the hooli citee of oure fadris; for in trewthe and in doom thou brouytist yn alle these thingis for oure synnes.
3:29	For we synneden, and diden wickidli, goynge awei fro thee, and we trespassiden in alle thingis,
3:30	and we herden not, nether kepten thi comaundementis, nether we diden as thou comaundidist to vs, that it schulde be wele to vs.

3:27	Then the dukes, lordes and nobles, and the kynges councell came together to se these men, vpon whom the fyre had no maner of power in their bodies: In so moch that the very hayre of their heade was not burnt, and their clothes vnchaunged: Yee there was no smell of fyre felt vpon them.
3:28	Then spake Nabuchodonosor, and sayde: Blessed be the God of Sidrac, Misac & Abdenago: which hath sent his angel, ad defended his seruautes, that put their trust in him: yt haue altered the kynges commaundement, and ioperde their bodies thervpon: rather then they wolde serue or worshipe eny other god, excepte their owne God only.
3:29	Therfore I wil and commaude, that all people, kynreddes & tunges, which speake eny blasphemy agaynst the God of Sydrac, Misac and Abdenago, shal dye, and their houses shalbe prysed: Because, there is no God yt maye sane, as this.
3:30	So the kynge promoted Sidrac, Misac and Abdenago, in the londe of Babylon.
