9:1	In the fyrst yeare of Darius the sonne of Ahasuerus, whych was of the sede of the Medes, and was made kynge ouer the realme of the Caldees:
9:2	yee, euen in the fyrst yeare of his raygne, I Daniel desyred to knowe the yearly nombre out of the bokes, wherof the Lorde spake vnto Ieremy the Prophete: that Ierusalem shulde lye waste .lxx. yeares:
9:3	and I turned me vnto God the Lorde, for to praye and make myne intercession, with fastynge, sacke clothe & ashes,
9:4	I prayed before the Lord my God, and knowledged, sayinge. O Lorde, thou greate and fearfull God, thou that kepest couenaunt and mercy wyth them, which loue the, and do thy commaundementes.
9:5	We haue synned, we haue offended, we haue bene disobedient and gone back: yee, we haue departed from all thy preceptes and iudgementes.
9:6	We wolde neuer folowe thy seruauntes the Prophetes that spake in thy name to oure kynges and princes, to oure forefathers, and to all the people of the lande.
9:7	O Lord, righteousnesse belongeth vnto the, vnto us pertayneth nothynge but open shame: as it is come to passe thys daye vnto euery man of Iuda, and to them that dwell at Ierusalem. Yee, vnto all Israel, whether they be farre or nye: thorowe out all landes: wherin thou hast strowed them, because of the offences, that they had done agaynst the.
9:8	Yee, O Lorde, vnto vs, to oure kynges & princes, to oure forefathers: euen to vs all, that haue offended the belongeth open shame.
9:9	But vnto the, O Lorde oure God, pertayneth mercy and forgeuenesse. As for vs, we are gone backe from hym,
9:10	and haue not obeyed the voyce of the Lorde oure God, to walke in hys lawes, whych he layed before vs by hys seruauntes the Prophetes:
9:11	yee all Israel haue transgressed, and gone backe from thy lawe, so that they haue not herckened vnto thy voyce. Wherfore, the curse & othe that is written in the lawe of Moses the seruaunt of God (agaynst whom we haue offended) is poured vpon vs.
9:12	And he hath perfourmed his wordes, whych he spake agaynst vs, & agaynst oure iudges that iudged vs: to brynge vpon vs soch a greate plage, as neuer was vnder heauen, lyke as it is nowe come to passe in Ierusalem.
9:13	Yee, all this plage, as it is wrytten in the lawe of Moses, is come vpon vs. Yet made we not oure prayer before the Lorde oure God, that we myght turne agayne from oure wickednesse, & to be learned in thy verite.
9:14	Therfore hath the Lorde made haste, to brynge this plage vpon vs, for the Lorde our God is ryghteous, in all his workes whych he doth: for why? We wolde not herken vnto hys voyce.
9:15	And nowe, O Lorde oure God thou that with a myghtie hande hast brought thy people out of Egypte, to get thy selfe a name which remayneth this daye: we haue synned
9:16	O Lorde, & done wyckedly agaynst all thy ryghteousnes: yet let thy wrothfull displeasure be turned awaye (I beseche the) from thy cyte Ierusalem thy holy hyll. And why? for oure synnes sake, and for the wykednesse of oure forefathers is Ierusalem & thy people abhorred, of all them that are aboute vs:
9:17	Now therfore, O our God, heare the prayer of thy seruaunt, and hys intercessyon. O let thy face shyne ouer thy Sanctuary, that lyeth waste:
9:18	for the Lordes sake. O my God, enclyne thyne eare, and herken (at the leest for thyne awne sake) open thyne eyes: beholde howe we be desolated, yee, and the cytie also, whych is called after thy name: for we do not cast oure prayers before the in oure awne ryghteousnes, no: but onely in thy great mercyes:
9:19	O Lorde, heare: O forgeue Lorde, O Lorde consydre, tarye not ouer longe: but for thyne awne sake do it. O my God: for thy cyte and thy people is called after thy name.
9:20	As I was yet speakynge at my prayers, knowledgynge myne awne synnes, and the synnes of my people, makynge so myne intercessyon before the Lorde my God, for the holy hylles sake of my God:
9:21	yee, whyle I was yet speakynge in my prayer, beholde, the man Gabriel. (whom I had sene afore in the visyon) came flyinge to me, and touched me aboute the offering tyme in the euenynge.
9:22	He infourmed me, & spake vnto me: O Daniel sayde he, I am nowe come to make the vnderstande it.
9:23	For as soone as thou begannest to make thy prayer, it was so diuised, & therfore am I come to shewe the. And why? For thou art a man greatly beloued. Wherfore, pondre the matter well, that thou mayest learne, to vnderstande the visyon.
9:24	.Lxx. wekes are determed ouer thy people, and ouer the holy cytie: that the wyckednes maye be consumed, that the synne may haue an ende, that the offence maye be reconciled, and to brynge in euerlastinge ryghteousnesse, to fulfyll the visyons and the prophetes, and to anoynte the moost holy one.
9:25	Understande this then, and marcke it well: that from the tyme it shalbe concluded to go and repayre Ierusalem agayne, vnto Christ (or the anoynted) prince: there shalbe seuen wekes: Then shall the stretes and walles be buylded agayne .lxij. wekes, but with harde troublous tyme.
9:26	After these .lxij. wekes, shall Christ be slayne, and they shall haue no pleasure in hym. Then shall there come a people with the Prince, and destroye the cyte & the Sanctuary: and hys ende shall come as the water floude. But the desolacyon shall contynue tyll the ende of the battell.
9:27	He shall make a stronge bonde with many, for the space of a weke: & when the weke is halfe gone, he shall put downe the slayne and meatoffringe. And in the temple there shalbe an abhominable desolacyon, tyll it haue destroyed all. And it is concluded, that this wastynge shall contynue vnto the ende.

9:2	in the firste yeer of his rewme, Y, Danyel, vndurstood in bookis the noumbre of yeeris, of which noumbre the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye, the profete, that seuenti yeer of desolacioun of Jerusalem schulde be fillid.
9:3	And Y settide my face to my Lord God, to preie and to biseche in fastyngis, in sak, and aische.
9:4	And Y preiede my Lord God, and Y knoulechide, and seide, Y biseche, thou Lord God, greet and ferdful, kepynge couenaunt and mercy to hem that louen thee, and kepen thi comaundementis.
9:5	We han synned, we han do wickidnesse, we diden unfeithfuli, and yeden awei, and bowiden awei fro thi comaundementis and domes.
9:6	We obeieden not to thi seruauntis, profetis, that spaken in thi name to oure kyngis, to oure princes, and to oure fadris, and to al the puple of the lond.
9:7	Lord, riytfulnesse is to thee, forsothe schenschipe of face is to vs, as is to dai to a man of Juda, and to the dwelleris of Jerusalem, and to al Israel, to these men that ben niy, and to these men that ben afer in alle londis, to which thou castidist hem out for the wickidnessis of hem, in whiche, Lord, thei synneden ayens thee.
9:8	Schame of face is to vs, to oure kyngis, to oure princes, and to oure fadris, that synneden;
9:9	but merci and benygnytee is to thee, oure Lord God. For we yeden awei fro thee,
9:10	and herden not the vois of oure Lord God, that we schulden go in the lawe of hym, whiche he settide to vs bi hise seruauntis, profetis.
9:11	And al Israel braken thi lawe, and bowiden awei, that thei herden not thi vois; and cursyng, and wlatyng, which is writun in the book of Moises, the seruaunt of God, droppide on vs, for we synneden to hym.
9:12	And he ordeynede hise wordis, whiche he spak on vs, and on oure princes, that demyden vs, that thei schulden brynge in on vs greet yuel, what maner yuel was neuer vndur al heuene, bi that that is doon in Jerusalem,
9:13	as it is writun in the lawe of Moises. Al this yuel cam on vs, and, oure Lord God, we preieden not thi face, that we schulden turne ayen fro oure wickidnessis, and schulden thenke thi treuthe.
9:14	And the Lord wakide on malice, and brouyt it on vs; oure Lord God is iust in alle his werkis whiche he made, for we herden not his vois.
9:15	And now, Lord God, that leddist thi puple out of the lond of Egipt in strong hond, and madist to thee a name bi this dai, we han synnede,
9:16	we han do wickidnesse, Lord, ayens thi riytfulnesse. Y biseche, thi wraththe and thi stronge veniaunce be turned awey fro thi citee Jerusalem, and fro thi hooli hil; for whi for oure synnes, and for the wickidnessis of oure fadris, Jerusalem and thi puple ben in schenschipe, to alle men bi oure cumpas.
9:17	But now, oure God, here thou the preyer of thi seruaunt, and the bisechyngis of him, and schewe thi face on thi seyntuarie, which is forsakun.
9:18	My God, for thi silf boowe doun thin eere, and here; opene thin iyen, and se oure desolacioun, and the citee, on which thi name is clepid to help. For not in oure iustifiyngis we setten forth mekeli preiers bifor thi face, but in thi many merciful doyngis.
9:19	Lord, here thou; Lord, be thou plesid, perseyue thou, and do; my Lord God, tarie thou not, for thi silf, for thi name is clepid to help on the citee, and on thi puple.
9:20	And whanne Y spak yit, and preiede, and knoulechide my synnes, and the synnes of my puple Israel, that Y schulde sette forth mekeli my preieris in the siyt of my God, for the hooli hil of my God,
9:21	the while Y spak yit in my preyer, lo! the man Gabriel, whom Y hadde seyn in visioun at the bigynnyng, flei soone, and touchide me in the tyme of euentid sacrifice;
9:22	and he tauyt me, and he spak to me, and seide, Danyel, now Y yede out, that Y schulde teche thee, and thou schuldist vndurstonde.
9:23	Fro the bigynnyng of thi preieris a word yede out. Forsothe Y cam to schewe to thee, for thou art a man of desiris; therfor perseyue thou the word, and vndurstonde thou the visioun.
9:24	Seuenti woukis of yeeris ben abreggid on thi puple, and on thin hooli citee, that trespassyng be endid, and synne take an ende, and that wickidnesse be doon awei, and euerlastynge riytfulnesse be brouyt, and that the visioun, and prophesie be fillid, and the hooli of seyntis be anoyntid.
9:25	Therfor wite thou, and perseyue; fro the goyng out of the word, that Jerusalem be bildid eft, til to Crist, the duyk, schulen be seuene woukis of yeeris and two and sixti woukis of yeeris; and eft the street schal be bildid, and wallis, in the angwisch of tymes.
9:26	And after two and sixti woukis `of yeeris Crist schal be slayn. And it schal not be his puple, that schal denye hym. And the puple with the duyk to comynge schal distrie the citee, and the seyntuarie; and the ende therof schal be distriyng, and after the ende of batel schal be ordeynede desolacioun.
9:27	Forsothe o wouk `of yeeris schal conferme the couenaunt to many men, and the offryng and sacrifice schal faile in the myddis of the wouke of yeeris; and abhomynacioun of desolacioun schal be in the temple, and the desolacioun schal contynue til to the parformyng and ende.

9:14	Therfore hath ye LORDE made haist, to bringe this plage vpon vs: for the LORDE oure God is rightuous, in all his workes which he doth: for why, we wolde not harken vnto his voyce.
9:15	And now, o LORDE oure God, thou that with a mightie honde hast brought thy people out of Egipte, to get thy self a name, which remayneth this daye: we haue synned
9:16	(o LORDE) & done wickedly agaynst all thy rightuousnes: yet let thy wrothfull displeasure be turned awaye (I beseke the) from thy cite Ierusalem thy holy hill. And why? for oure synnes sake and for the wickednesse of oure forefathers: is Ierusalem and thy people abhorred, of all them that are aboute vs.
