Hosea - Chapter: 2

>
2:1Say ye vnto your brethren, Ammi, & to your sisters, Ruhamah:
2:2Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whordomes out of her sight, and her adulteries from betweene her breasts;
2:3Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that shee was borne, and make her as a wildernesse, and set her like a drie land, and slay her with thirst.
2:4And I will not haue mercy vpon her children, for they be the children of whordomes.
2:5For their mother hath played the harlot: shee that conceiued them hath done shamefully: for shee sayd, I will goe after my louers, that giue me my bread and my water, my wooll and my flaxe, mine oyle, and my drinke.
2:6Therefore behold, I will hedge vp thy way with thornes, and make a wall, that she shall not find her pathes.
2:7And she shall follow after her louers, but she shall not ouertake them, and she shall seeke them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will goe and returne to my first husband, for then was it better with me then now.
2:8For she did not know that I gaue her corne, and wine, and oyle, and multiplied her siluer and gold, which they prepared for Baal.
2:9Therefore will I returne, and take away my Corne in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and wil recouer my wooll and my flaxe giuen to couer her nakednesse.
2:10And now will I discouer her lewdnesse in the sight of her louers, and none shall deliuer her out of mine hand.
2:11I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast daies, her new moones, and her Sabbaths, and all her solemne feasts.
2:12And I will destroy her vines and her figge trees, whereof she hath said; These are my rewards that my louers haue giuen me: and I will make them a forrest, and the beasts of the field shall eate them.
2:13And I will visite vpon her the daies of Baalim, wherein she burnt incense to them, and she decked her selfe with her eare-rings, and her Iewels, and she went after her louers, and forgate me, saith the Lord.
2:14Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wildernesse, and speake comfortably vnto her.
2:15And I wil giue her, her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a doore of hope, and she shall sing there, as in the dayes of her youth, and as in the day when she came vp out of the land of Egypt.
2:16And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call mee Ishi; and shalt call mee no more Baali.
2:17For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, & they shal no more be remembred by their name.
2:18And in that day will I make a couenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the foules of heauen, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will breake the bow and the sword, and the battell out of the earth, and will make them to lie downe safely.
2:19And I will betroth thee vnto me for euer; yea, I will betroth thee vnto me in righteousnesse, and in iudgement, and in louing kindnesse, and in mercies.
2:20I will euen betroth thee vnto me in faithfulnesse, and thou shalt know the Lord.
2:21And it shall come to passe in that day, I will heare, saith the Lord, I will heare the heauens, and they shall heare the earth,
2:22And the earth shall heare the corne, and the wine, and the oyle, and they shall heare Iezreel.
2:23And I will sow her vnto me in the earth, and I will haue mercy vpon her that had not obtained mercy, and I will say to them which were not my people; Thou art my people, and they shallsay, Thou art my God.

2:1Tell your brethren that they are my people, and your sisterne, that they haue obtayned mercy
2:2As for your mother, ye shall chyde with her and reproue her, for she is not my wyfe, neither am I her husbande: let her therefore put away her whordome from her face, and her adulterie from her brestes
2:3Lest I strip her naked, and set her euen as she came into the worlde, and make her as a wyldernesse, and as a drye lande, and slay her for thyrste
2:4And I wyll haue no pitie vpon her chyldren: for they be the children of fornication
2:5Their mother hath played the harlot, and she that bare them is come to confusion: for she sayde, I wyll go after my louers, that geue me my bread and my water, my wooll and flaxe, my oyle and my drinke
2:6Therefore beholde, I wyll stop thy way with thornes, and make a hedge, that she shall not finde her pathes
2:7And though she runne after her louers, yet shall she not ouertake them: she shall seeke them, but not finde them. Then shall she say, I wyll go and returne to my first husbande: for at that tyme it was better with me then nowe
2:8And she dyd not knowe that I gaue her corne, and wine, and oyle, and multiplied her siluer and golde, which they bestowed on Baal
2:9Therefore wyll I returne and take away my corne in the tyme thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and fet agayne my wooll and my flaxe whiche I gaue her to couer her shame
2:10And nowe wyll I discouer her shame euen in the sight of her louers, and no man shall deliuer her out of my handes
2:11Moreouer, I wyll take away all her myrth, her holy dayes, her newe moones, her Sabbathes, and all her solempne feastes
2:12I wyll destroy her vineyardes and figtrees, whereof she sayde: These are my rewardes that my louers haue geuen me, I wyll make them as a wood, and wylde beastes shall eate them vp
2:13I wyll visite vpon her the dayes of Baal wherein she burned incense to hym, and decked her selfe with eareringes and iewels, she folowed her louers, and forgate me saith the Lorde
2:14Wherefore beholde, I wyll allure her and bryng her into the wildernesse, and speake frendly vnto her
2:15From thence wyll I geue her her vineyardes agayne, yea and the valley of Achor for an entry of hope: and she shall sing there as in the dayes of her youth, and as in the day when she came vp out of the lande of Egypt
2:16And at that day (saith the Lord) thou shalt call me, O my husbande, and shalt call me no more Baal
2:17For I wyll take away those names of Baal from her mouth, yea she shall neuer remember their names any more
2:18Then wyll I make a couenaunt for them, with the beastes of the fielde, with the foules of the ayre, and with euery thing that creepeth vpon the earth: As for bowe, sworde, and battayle, I wyll destroy out of the lande, and wyll make them to sleepe safely
2:19And I wyll marry thee vnto myne owne selfe for euer, yea euen to my selfe wyll I marry thee in righteousnes, in iudgement, in louing kindnesse and mercy
2:20In faythfulnesse also wyll I marry thee vnto my selfe, and thou shalt know the Lorde
2:21At the same tyme wyll I shewe my selfe gratious vnto the heauens saith the Lorde, and the heauens shall helpe the earth
2:22And the earth shall helpe the corne, wine, and oyle: and they shall helpe Iezrahel
2:23And I wyll sowe her for my selfe in the earth, and wyll haue mercy vpon her that had not obtayned mercy: And to them whiche were not my people, I wyll say, Thou art my people: and they shall say, Thou art my God

2:8Nowe she did not knowe that I gaue her corne, and wine, and oyle, and multiplied her siluer and golde, which they bestowed vpon Baal.
2:9Therefore wil I returne, and take away my corne in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recouer my wool and my flaxe lent, to couer her shame.
2:10And now will I discouer her lewdnes in the sight of her louers, and no man shall deliuer her out of mine hand.

2:12And I wil destroy her vines and her figtrees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my louers haue giuen mee: and I will make them as a forest, and the wilde beasts shall eate them.
2:13And I wil visit vpon her the daies of Baalim, wherein shee burnt incense to them: and shee decked her selfe with her earings and her iewels, and shee folowed her louers, and forgate me, saith the Lord.
2:14Therefore beholde, I will allure her, and bring her into the wildernesse, and speake friendly vnto her.
2:15And I will giue her her vineyardes from thence, and the valley of Achor for the doore of hope, and shee shall sing there as in the daies of her youth, and as in the daies when shee came vp out of the land of Egypt.
2:16And at that day, sayeth the Lord, thou shalt call me Ishi, and shalt call me no more Baali.
2:17For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall be no more remembred by their names.

2:19And I wil marry thee vnto me for euer: yea, I will marry thee vnto me in righteousnes, and in iudgement, and in mercy and in compassion.
2:20I will euen marry thee vnto me in faithfulnes, and thou shalt knowe the Lord.
2:21And in that day I wil heare, saith the Lord, I will euen heare the heauens, and they shall heare the earth,
2:22And the earth shall heare the corne, and the wine, and the oyle, and they shall heare Izreel.
2:23And I will sowe her vnto me in the earth, and I will haue mercie vpon her, that was not pitied, and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people. And they shall say, Thou art my God.
