Hosea - Chapter: 2

>
2:1Say ye vnto your brethren, Ammi, & to your sisters, Ruhamah:
2:2Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whordomes out of her sight, and her adulteries from betweene her breasts;
2:3Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that shee was borne, and make her as a wildernesse, and set her like a drie land, and slay her with thirst.
2:4And I will not haue mercy vpon her children, for they be the children of whordomes.
2:5For their mother hath played the harlot: shee that conceiued them hath done shamefully: for shee sayd, I will goe after my louers, that giue me my bread and my water, my wooll and my flaxe, mine oyle, and my drinke.
2:6Therefore behold, I will hedge vp thy way with thornes, and make a wall, that she shall not find her pathes.
2:7And she shall follow after her louers, but she shall not ouertake them, and she shall seeke them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will goe and returne to my first husband, for then was it better with me then now.
2:8For she did not know that I gaue her corne, and wine, and oyle, and multiplied her siluer and gold, which they prepared for Baal.
2:9Therefore will I returne, and take away my Corne in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and wil recouer my wooll and my flaxe giuen to couer her nakednesse.
2:10And now will I discouer her lewdnesse in the sight of her louers, and none shall deliuer her out of mine hand.
2:11I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast daies, her new moones, and her Sabbaths, and all her solemne feasts.
2:12And I will destroy her vines and her figge trees, whereof she hath said; These are my rewards that my louers haue giuen me: and I will make them a forrest, and the beasts of the field shall eate them.
2:13And I will visite vpon her the daies of Baalim, wherein she burnt incense to them, and she decked her selfe with her eare-rings, and her Iewels, and she went after her louers, and forgate me, saith the Lord.
2:14Therefore behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wildernesse, and speake comfortably vnto her.
2:15And I wil giue her, her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a doore of hope, and she shall sing there, as in the dayes of her youth, and as in the day when she came vp out of the land of Egypt.
2:16And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call mee Ishi; and shalt call mee no more Baali.
2:17For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, & they shal no more be remembred by their name.
2:18And in that day will I make a couenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the foules of heauen, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will breake the bow and the sword, and the battell out of the earth, and will make them to lie downe safely.
2:19And I will betroth thee vnto me for euer; yea, I will betroth thee vnto me in righteousnesse, and in iudgement, and in louing kindnesse, and in mercies.
2:20I will euen betroth thee vnto me in faithfulnesse, and thou shalt know the Lord.
2:21And it shall come to passe in that day, I will heare, saith the Lord, I will heare the heauens, and they shall heare the earth,
2:22And the earth shall heare the corne, and the wine, and the oyle, and they shall heare Iezreel.
2:23And I will sow her vnto me in the earth, and I will haue mercy vpon her that had not obtained mercy, and I will say to them which were not my people; Thou art my people, and they shallsay, Thou art my God.

2:1Say vnto your brethren, Ammi, and to your sisters, Ruhamah,
2:2Plead with your mother: plead with her: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: but let her take away her fornications out of her sight, and her adulteries from betweene her breasts.
2:3Lest I strippe her naked, and set her as in the day that shee was borne, and make her as a wildernes, and leaue her like a drie land, and slaie her for thirst.
2:4And I wil haue no pitie vpon her children: for they be the children of fornications.
2:5For their mother hath plaied the harlot: she that conceiued them, hath done shamefully: for shee said, I will goe after my louers that giue me my bread and my water, my wooll and my flaxe, mine oyle and my drinke.
2:6Therefore beholde, I will stoope thy way with thornes, and make an hedge, that shee shall not finde her pathes.
2:7Though shee follow after her louers, yet shall shee not come at them: though shee seeke them, yet shall shee not finde them: then shall she say, I will goe and returne to my first husband: for at that time was I better then nowe.
2:8Nowe she did not knowe that I gaue her corne, and wine, and oyle, and multiplied her siluer and golde, which they bestowed vpon Baal.
2:9Therefore wil I returne, and take away my corne in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recouer my wool and my flaxe lent, to couer her shame.
2:10And now will I discouer her lewdnes in the sight of her louers, and no man shall deliuer her out of mine hand.
2:11I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast daies, her newe moones, and her Sabbathes, and all her solemne feasts.
2:12And I wil destroy her vines and her figtrees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my louers haue giuen mee: and I will make them as a forest, and the wilde beasts shall eate them.
2:13And I wil visit vpon her the daies of Baalim, wherein shee burnt incense to them: and shee decked her selfe with her earings and her iewels, and shee folowed her louers, and forgate me, saith the Lord.
2:14Therefore beholde, I will allure her, and bring her into the wildernesse, and speake friendly vnto her.
2:15And I will giue her her vineyardes from thence, and the valley of Achor for the doore of hope, and shee shall sing there as in the daies of her youth, and as in the daies when shee came vp out of the land of Egypt.
2:16And at that day, sayeth the Lord, thou shalt call me Ishi, and shalt call me no more Baali.
2:17For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall be no more remembred by their names.
2:18And in that day wil I make a couenant for them, with the wilde beasts, and with the foules of the heauen, and with that that creepeth vpon the earth: and I will breake the bowe, and the sworde and the battell out of the earth, and will make them to sleepe safely.
2:19And I wil marry thee vnto me for euer: yea, I will marry thee vnto me in righteousnes, and in iudgement, and in mercy and in compassion.
2:20I will euen marry thee vnto me in faithfulnes, and thou shalt knowe the Lord.
2:21And in that day I wil heare, saith the Lord, I will euen heare the heauens, and they shall heare the earth,
2:22And the earth shall heare the corne, and the wine, and the oyle, and they shall heare Izreel.
2:23And I will sowe her vnto me in the earth, and I will haue mercie vpon her, that was not pitied, and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people. And they shall say, Thou art my God.

2:1Tell youre brethren, that they are my people: and youre systerne, that they haue optayned mercy.
2:2As for youre mother, ye shall chyde wt her, and reproue her for she is not my wyfe, nether am I her husbande, onlesse she put awaye her whordome out of my syght, & her aduoutry from her brestes.
2:3If no I shall stryppe her naked, & sett her euen as she came into the worlde: yee, I shall laye her waste, and make her lyke a wyldernesse, & slaye her for thyrste.
2:4I shall haue no pite also vpon her children for they be the chyldren of fornicacyon.
2:5Their mother hath broken her wedlocke, and she that bare them is come to confusion. For she sayd: I will go after my louers, that geue me my water and my bread, my woll & flaxe, my oyle and my dryncke.
2:6But I will hedge her waye with thornes, and stoppe it, that she shall not fynde her fotesteppes:
2:7and though she runne after her louers, yet shall she not get them: she shall seke them, but not fynde them. Then shall she saye: well, I wyll go turne againe to my fyrst housbande, for at that tyme was I better at ease, then nowe
2:8But this wolde she not knowe, where as I yet gaue her corne, wyne, oyle, syluer & gold whych she hath hanged vpon Baal.
2:9Wherfore, nowe will I go take my corne and wyne agayne in their season, and fet agayne my woll & my flax, whych I gaue her, to couer her shame.
2:10And nowe will I discouer her foolyshnesse, euen in the syght of her louers, & no man shall delyuer her out of my handes.
2:11Moreouer, I will take awaye all her myrth her holy dayes, her newmoones; her Sabbathes and all her solempne feastes:
2:12I wyll destroye her vyneyardes & fygg trees, though she sayeth: lo, heare are my rewardes, that my louers haue geuen me. I wyll make it a wodde, and wylde beestes shall eate it vp.
2:13I wyll punysh her also for the dayes of Baal wherin she censed hym, deckynge hym wyth her earynges & cheynes: when she folowed her louers, and forgat me, sayeth the Lorde.
2:14Wherfore beholde, I wyll call her agayne bringe her into a wyldernes, & speake frendly vnto her:
2:15there will I geue her her vyniardes agayne, yee & the valley of Achor also to shewe her hope and comforte. Then shall she synge there as in the tyme of her youth, and lyke as in the daye when she came out of the lande of Egypte.
2:16Then (sayeth the Lorde she shall saye vnto me) O my housbande, & shall call me nomore Baal:
2:17for I wyll take awaye those names of Baal from her mouth, yee, she shall neuer remembre their names eny more.
2:18Then wyll I make a couenaunt with them, with the wylde beastes, with the foules of the ayre, and wyth euery thynge that crepeth vpon the earth. As for bowe, swerde and battel, I will destroye soch out of the lande, & wyll make them to slepe safely.
2:19Thus wyll I mary the vnto myne awne selfe for euermore: yee, euen to my selfe wyll I mary the, in ryghteousnesse, in equite, in louynge kyndnesse and mercy.
2:20In fayth also wyll I mary the vnto my selfe, and thou shalt knowe the Lorde.
2:21At the same tyme wyll I shewe my selfe frendly & gracyous vnto the heuens, sayeth the Lord: and the heauens shall helpe the earth
2:22and the earth shall helpe the corne, wyne and oyle, & they shall helpe Iesrael.
2:23I wyll sowe them vpon earth, for a sede to myne amne selfe, & wyll haue mercy vpon her, that was wythout mercy. And to them whych were not my people, I wyll saye: thou art my people and he shall saye: thou art my God.
