Hosea - Chapter: 8

>
8:1`Unto thy mouth -- a trumpet, As an eagle against the house of Jehovah, Because they transgressed My covenant, And against My law they have rebelled.
8:2To Me they cry, `My God, we -- Israel -- have known Thee.'
8:3Cast off good hath Israel, an enemy pursueth him.
8:4They have made kings, and not by Me, They have made princes, and I have not known, Their silver and their gold they have made to them idols, So that they are cut off.
8:5Cast off hath thy calf, O Samaria, Burned hath Mine anger against them, Till when are they not capable of purity?
8:6For even it `is' of Israel; an artificer made it, And it `is' not God, For the calf of Samaria is fragments!
8:7For wind they sow, and a hurricane they reap, Stalk it hath none -- a shoot not yielding grain, If so be it yield -- strangers do swallow it up.
8:8Israel hath been swallowed up, Now they have been among nations, As a vessel in which is no delight.
8:9For they -- they have gone up `to' Asshur, A wild ass alone by himself `is' Ephraim, They have hired lovers!
8:10Also though they hire among nations, Now I gather them, and they are pained a little, From the burden of a king of princes.
8:11Because Ephraim did multiply altars to sin, They have been to him altars to sin.
8:12I write for him numerous things of My law, As a strange thing they have been reckoned.
8:13The sacrifices of Mine offerings! They sacrifice flesh, and they eat, Jehovah hath not accepted them, Now doth He remember their iniquity, And inspect their sin, They -- `to' Egypt they turn back.
8:14And forget doth Israel his Maker, and buildeth temples, And Judah hath multiplied cities of defence, And I have sent a fire into his cities, And it hath consumed their palaces!

8:1Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the LORD, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
8:2Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
8:3Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
8:4They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
8:5Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?
8:6For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
8:7For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
8:8Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
8:9For they are gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.
8:10Yea, though they have hired among the nations, now will I gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes.
8:11Because Ephraim hath made many altars to sin, altars shall be unto him to sin.
8:12I have written to him the great things of my law, but they were counted as a strange thing.
8:13They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of mine offerings, and eat it; but the LORD accepteth them not; now will he remember their iniquity, and visit their sins: they shall return to Egypt.
8:14For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and buildeth temples; and Judah hath multiplied fenced cities: but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the palaces thereof.

8:1Put a horn to your mouth. He comes like an eagle against the house of Jehovah, because they have broken My covenant and have sinned against My law.
8:2Israel shall cry to Me, My God, we know You.
8:3Israel has thrown off good; the enemy shall pursue him.
8:4They have set up kings, but not by Me. They have made rulers, but I did not know. They made idols for themselves with their silver and their gold, so that they may be cut off.
8:5O Samaria, your calf has cast you off. My anger is kindled against them. Until when will they not attain purity?
8:6For it also came from Israel: The craftsman made it, but it is not God. For the calf of Samaria shall be splinters.
8:7For they sow the wind, and they reap the whirlwind. He has no stalk; the bud shall make no flour. If it does make it , strangers will swallow it up.
8:8Israel is swallowed up. They are now among the nations as a vessel in which is no pleasure.
8:9For they have gone up to Assyria, a wild ass alone by himself. Ephraim has hired lovers.
8:10Yes, though they have hired among the nations, now I will gather them. And they began to be few, from the burden of the king of rulers.
8:11Because Ephraim has made many altars to sin, they are altars to him to sin.
8:12I will write the great things of My law for him. They were counted as a strange thing.
8:13They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of My offerings, and they eat. Jehovah did not accept them. Now He will remember their iniquity and punish their sins. They shall return to Egypt.
8:14For Israel has forgotten his Maker, and builds temples. And Judah has multiplied fortified cities. But I will send a fire on his cities, and it shall burn up her palaces.
