Hosea - Chapter: 12

12:1Ephraim is fed with ayre, and foloweth after the east winde: he is euer increasynge lyes and destruccyon. They be confederate with the Assyrians, their oyle is caryed into Egypt.
12:2The Lorde hath a courte to holde wt Iuda, and wyll punyshe Iacob. After their awne wayes and accordynge to theyr awne inuencyons, shall he recompense them.
12:3He toke his brother by the hele, when he was yet in his mothers wombe: and in hys strength he wrestled with God.
12:4He strowe with the angell, and gatt the victorye: so that he prayde & desyred hym. He founde him at Bethell, and there he talketh with vs.
12:5Yee, the Lorde God of Hoostes, euen the Lorde him selfe remembred him.
12:6Then turne to thy God, kepe mercy and equite, & hope styll in thy God.
12:7But thou art lyke the marchaunt that hath a false weyght in his hande, he hath a pleasure to occupie extorcyon.
12:8Ephraim thinketh thus: Tush, I am rich. I haue good ynough: In all my worckes shall not one fawte be founde that I haue offended.
12:9Yet am I the Lord thy God, euen as when I brought the out of the lande of Egypte, and sett the in thy tentes, and as in the hye feaste dayes.
12:10I haue spoken thorowe the prophetes, & shewed diuerse visyons and declared my selfe by the ministracion of the prophetes.
12:11But at Gilaad is the abhominacyon, they are fallen to vanyte. At Gilgal they haue slayne oxen: as many heapes of stones as they had in theyr lande forowes, so many aulters haue they made.
12:12Iacob fled in to the lande of Siria, & Israell serued for a wife, & for a wife he kepte shepe.
12:13By a prophete the Lorde brought them out of Egypt, and by a prophet he preserued them.
12:14But Ephraim hath puoked him to displeasure thorowe his abhominacyons, therfore shall his bloude be poured vpon him selfe, and the Lorde hys God shall rewarde hym hys blasphemyes.

 

12:1Effraym fedith wynd, and sueth heete. Al dai he multiplieth leesyng, and distriyng; and he made boond of pees with Assiriens, and bar oile in to Egipt.
12:2Therfor the doom of the Lord is with Juda, and visityng is on Jacob; bi the weies of hym, and bi the fyndyngis of hym he schal yelde to hym.
12:3In the wombe he supplauntide his brother, and in his strengthe he was dressid with the aungel.
12:4And he was strong to the aungel, and was coumfortid; he wepte, and preiede hym; in Bethel he foond hym, and there he spak with vs.
12:5And the Lord God of oostis, the Lord, is the memorial of hym.
12:6And thou schalt turne to thi God. Kepe thou merci and doom, and hope thou euere in thi God.
12:7Chanaan louyde fals caleng, a gileful balaunce in his hond.
12:8And Effraym seide, Netheles Y am maad riche, Y haue founde an idol to me; alle my trauelis schulen not fynde to me the wickidnesse, whiche Y synnede.
12:9And Y am thi Lord God fro the lond of Egipt; yit Y schal make thee to sitte in tabernaclis, as in the daies of feeste.
12:10And Y spak bi profetis, and Y multiplied profesie, and Y was licned in the hond of profetis.
12:11If Galaad worschipith an idol, therfor thei erren in veyn offryng to oxis in Galgal; for whi and the auteris of hem schulen be as heepis on the forewis of the feeld.
12:12Effraym cumpasside me in denying, the hous of Israel in gile. But Judas a witnesse yede doun with God, and with feithful seyntis.
12:13But bi a profete the Lord ledde Israel out of Egipt, and bi a profete he was kept.
12:14Effraym terride me to wrathfulnesse in hise bitternessis, and the blood of hym schal come on hym; and his Lord schal restore to hym the schenschipe of him.
