Amos - Chapter: 2

>
2:1Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Moab, and for foure, I wil not turne away the punishment thereof, because hee burnt the bones of the King of Edom into lime.
2:2But I will send a fire vpon Moab, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Kerioth, and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:
2:3And I will cut off the iudge from the middest thereof, and wil slay all the princes thereof with him, sayeth the Lord.
2:4Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Iudah, and for foure, I will not turne away the punishment thereof; because they haue despised the Law of the Lord, and haue not kept his Commandements, and their lies caused them to erre, after the which their fathers haue walked.
2:5But I will send a fire vpon Iudah, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Ierusalem.
2:6Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for foure, I will not turne away the punishment thereof; because they solde the righteous for siluer, and the poore for a paire of shooes:
2:7That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poore, and turne aside the way of the meeke; and a man and his father will goe in vnto the same maid, to profane my holy Name.
2:8And they lay themselues downe vpon clothes laide to pledge, by euery Altar, and they drinke the wine of the condemned in the house of their God.
2:9Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the Cedars, and hee was strong as the okes, yet I destroyed his fruite from aboue, and his rootes from beneath.
2:10Also I brought you vp from the land of Egypt, and ledde you fourtie yeeres through the wildernesse, to possesse the land of the Amorite.
2:11And I raised vp of your sonnes for Prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not euen thus, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord ?
2:12But ye gaue the Nazarites wine to drinke, and commaunded the Prophets, saying, Prophecie not.
2:13Behold, I am pressed vnder you, as a cart is pressed that is ful of sheaues.
2:14Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mightie deliuer himselfe:
2:15Neither shall hee stand that handleth the bow, and hee that is swift of foote, shall not deliuer himselfe, neither shall hee that rideth the horse, deliuer himselfe.
2:16And hee that is couragious among the mighty, shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.

2:4Thus saith the Lord, For three transgressions of Iudah, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because they haue cast away the Lawe of the Lord, and haue not kept his commandementes, and their lies caused them to erre after the which their fathers haue walked.
2:5Therefore will I send a fire vpon Iudah, and it shall deuoure the palaces of Ierusalem.
2:6Thus sayth the Lord, For three transgressions of Israel, and for foure, I will not turne to it, because they solde the righteous for siluer and the poore for shooes.

2:8And they lye downe vpon clothes layde to pledge by euery altar: and they drinke the wine of the condemned in the house of their God.
2:9Yet destroyed I the Amorite before the, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the okes: notwithstanding I destroyed his fruite from aboue, and his roote from beneath.
2:10Also I brought you vp from the land of Egypt, and led you fourtie yeres thorowe the wildernesse, to possesse the land of the Amorite.
2:11And I raysed vp of your sonnes for Prophets, and of your yong men for Nazarites. Is it not euen thus, O ye children of Israel, sayth the Lord?
2:12But ye gaue the Nazarites wine to drinke, and commanded the Prophetes, saying, Prophecie not.
2:13Behold, I am pressed vnder you as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaues.
2:14Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mightie saue his life.

2:1Thus sayeth the Lorde: For thre and foure wyckednesses of Moab, I wyll not spare hym: because he brent the bones of the kynge of Edom to asshes.
2:2Therfore, wyll I sende a fyre into Moab, which shall consume the palaces of Carioth: so that Moab shall peryshe with noyse and the sounde of a shawme.
2:3I wyll rote out the iudge from amonge them, & slaye all hys prynces with him, sayeth the Lorde.
2:4Thus sayeth the Lorde: for thre and foure wyckednesses of Iuda, I wyll not spare him: because he hath cast a syde the lawe of the Lorde, and not kepte hys commaundementes: for why? they wolde nedes be disceaued with the lyes that theyr forefathers folowed.
2:5Therfore, will I sende a fyre into Iuda, which shall consume the palaces of Ierusalem.
2:6Thus sayeth the Lorde: For thre and foure wickednesses of Israel, I will not spare him because he hath solde the ryghteous for money, & the poore for shoes.
2:7They treade vpon poore mens heades, in the dust of the earth, & croke the wayes of the meke. The sonne and the father go to the harlot, to dishonoure my holy name,
2:8they lye besyde euery alter vpon clothes taken to pledge, and in the house of theyr goddes they dryncke the wyne of the oppressed.
2:9Yet destroyed I the Amoryte before them, that was as hye as the Cedre trees, and as stronge as the okes: notwithstandynge I destroyed his frute from aboue and his rote from vnder:
2:10Agayne, I brought you out of the lande of Egypt, & led you fourty yeares thorowe the wildernes, that ye might haue the Amorites landes in possession.
2:11I raysed vp prophetes amonge youre chyldren, and absteyners amonge youre yonge men. Is it not so, O ye chyldren of Israel, sayeth the Lorde?
2:12But ye gaue the absteyners wyne to dryncke, yee, ye commaunded the prophetes sayinge. Prophecy not.
2:13Beholde, I will crashe you in sonder, lyke as a wayne crassheth, that is full of sheaues:
2:14so that the swifte shall not escape nether the stronge be able to do eny thynge: no, the gyaunte shall not saue his awne lyfe.
2:15The archer shall not abyde, and the swyfte of fote shall not escape. The horsman shall not saue his lyfe,
2:16and he that is as manly of stomack as a gyaunte, shall in that daye be fayne to runne his waye naked, sayeth the Lorde.
