Amos - Chapter: 7

>
7:1Thus hath the Lord God shewed vnto me, and behold, he formed grassehoppers in the beginning of the shooting vp of the latter grouth: and loe, it was the latter grouth after the kings mowings.
7:2And it came to passe, that when they had made an ende of eating the grasse of the land, then I said; O Lord God, forgiue, I beseech thee, by whom shal Iacob arise? for he is small.
7:3The Lord repented for this. It shall not be, saith the Lord.
7:4Thus hath the Lord God shewed vnto me; and behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it deuoured the great deepe, and did eate vp a part.
7:5Then said I, O Lord God , cease, I beseech thee, by whom shal Iacob arise? for he is small.
7:6The Lord repented for this. This also shall not bee, saith the Lord God.
7:7Thus hee shewed mee, and behold, the Lord stood vpon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
7:8And the Lord said vnto mee, Amos, what seest thou? And I sayd, A plumb-line. Then sayd the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumb-line in the midst of my people Israel, I will not againe passe by them any more.
7:9And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the Sanctuaries of Israel shalbe laide waste: and I will rise against the house of Ieroboam with the sword.
7:10Then Amaziah the Priest of Beth-el sent to Ieroboam king of Israel, saying; Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to beare all his words.
7:11For thus Amos saith, Ieroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captiue, out of their owne land.
7:12Also Amaziah said vnto Amos, O thou Seer, goe, flee thee away into the land of Iudah, and there eate bread, and prophecie there.
7:13But prophecie not againe any more at Beth-el: for it is the Kings Chappell, and it is the Kings Court.
7:14Then answered Amos, and sayde to Amaziah; I was no Prophet, neither was I a Prophets sonne, but I was an heardman, and a gatherer of Sycomore fruit.
7:15And the Lord tooke me as I followed the flocke, and the Lord said vnto me, Goe, prophecie vnto my people Israel.
7:16Now therefore heare thou the worde of the Lord; Thou sayest, Prophecie not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
7:17Therfore thus sayth the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sonnes and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be diuided by line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall surely goe into captiuitie foorth of his land.

7:1Thus hath the Lord God shewed vnto mee, and beholde, he formed grashoppers in the beginning of ye shooting vp of the latter grouth: and loe, it was in the latter grouth after the Kings mowing.
7:2And when they had made an ende of eating the grasse of the land, then I saide, O Lord God, spare, I beseeche thee: who shall raise vp Iaakob? for he is small.
7:3So the Lord repented for this. It shall not be, saith the Lord.
7:4Thus also hath the Lord God shewed vnto me, and behold, the Lord God called to iudgement by fire, and it deuoured the great deepe, and did eate vp a part.
7:5Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseeche thee: who shall raise vp Iaakob? for he is small.
7:6So the Lord repented for this. This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.
7:7Thus againe he shewed me, and behold, the Lord stoode vpon a wall made by line with a line in his hand.
7:8And the Lord saide vnto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A line. Then said the Lord, Beholde, I wil set a line in the middes of my people Israel, and wil passe by them no more.
7:9And the hye places of Izhak shalbe desolate, and the temples of Israel shalbe destroyed: and I wil rise against the house of Ieroboam with the sworde.
7:10Then Amaziah the Priest of Beth-el sent to Ieroboam King of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the middes of the house of Israel: the lande is not able to beare all his wordes.
7:11For thus Amos saith, Ieroboam shall die by the sworde, and Israel shalbe led away captiue out of their owne land.
7:12Also Amaziah sayde vnto Amos, O thou the Seer, goe, flee thou away into the land of Iudah, and there eate thy bread and prophecie there.
7:13But prophecie no more at Beth-el: for it is the Kings chappel, and it is the Kings court.
7:14Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no Prophet, neither was I a prophets sonne, but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of wilde figs.
7:15And the Lord tooke me as I followed the flocke, and the Lord said vnto me, Go, prophecie vnto my people Israel.
7:16Now therefore heare thou the word of the Lord. Thou sayest, Prophecie not against Israel, and speake nothing against the house of Izhak.
7:17Therefore thus sayth the Lord, Thy wife shall be an harlot in the citie, and thy sonnes and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be deuided by line: and thou shalt die in a polluted land, and Israel shall surely go into captiuitie forth of his land.

7:1The Lorde God shewed me soch a vysyon: beholde, there stode one that made greshoppers, euen when the corne was shotynge forth, after the king had clypt his shepe.
7:2Now when they vndertoke to eate vp all the grene thinges in the lande, I sayde: O Lord God, be mercyfull, I beseche the: who shulde els helpe vp Iacob that is brought so lowe?
7:3So the Lorde was gracious therin, and the Lord sayde: well, it shall not be.
7:4Agayne, the Lord shewed me thys visyon: beholde, the Lorde God called the fyre to punysh wythall, and it deuoured the great depe: yee, it consumed a parte all redy.
7:5Then sayde I: O Lorde God, holde thyne hande: for who shulde els helpe vp Iacob that is brought so lowe?
7:6So the Lord was mercyfull therin, and the Lorde God sayd: wel, it shall not be.
7:7Moreouer, he shewed me thys vysyon: beholde, the Lord stode vpon a plastered wall and a masons trowel in his hande.
7:8And the Lord sayd vnto me: Amos, what seest thou I answered: a masons trowell. Then sayde the Lorde: beholde, I wyll laye the trowell amonge my people of Israel, & wyll nomore ouer se them,
7:9but the hye hylchapels of Isaac must be layed waste, and the churches of Israell made desolate, and as for the house of Ieroboam, I wyll stande vp agaynst it with the swerde.
7:10Upon thys sent Amasyah the prest to Bethel vnto Ieroboam the kynge of Israel, sayenge. Amos maketh the house of Israel to rebel agaynst the, the lande can not awaye wyth hys wordes.
7:11For Amos sayeth, Ieroboam shall dye wyth the swerde, and Israell shall be led awaye captiue out of theyr awne lande.
7:12And Amasiah sayde vnto Amos, Gett the hence (thou that canst se so well) and fle into the lande of Iuda: get the there thy lyuinge, and prophecy there:
7:13and prophecy nomore at Bethell, for it is the kynges chapell, and the kynges courte.
7:14Amos answered, and sayde to Amasiah: As for me I am nether prophet, ner prophetes sonne: but a keper of catell. Now as I was breakynge downe molberies, & going after the catell,
7:15the Lorde toke me, and sayd vnto me: Go thy waye, and prophecy vnto my people of Israel.
7:16And therfore, heare thou nowe the worde of the Lorde: Thou sayest: prophecy not agaynst Israel, and speake nothynge agaynst the house of Isaac.
7:17wherfore, thus sayeth the Lord: Thy wyfe shalbe defyled in the cytie, thy sonnes and daughters shall be slayne with the swearde, & thy lande shalbe measured out wyth the line. Thou thy selfe shalt dye in an vnclene lande, & Israel shalbe dryuen out of his awne contre.
