| 8:1 | Thus hath the Lord God shewed vnto me, and beholde, a basket of Summer fruit. |
| 8:2 | And he said, Amos, what seest thou? And I sayde, A basket of Summer fruite. Then said the Lord vnto mee, The ende is come vpon my people of Israel; I will not againe passe by them anymore. |
| 8:3 | And the songs of the Temples shalbe howlings in that day, sayth the Lord God: there shall be many dead bodies in euery place, they shall cast them foorth with silence. |
| 8:4 | Heare this, O ye that swallow vp the needy, euen to make the poore of the land to faile, |
| 8:5 | Saying, When will the newe Moone be gone, that we may sell corne? and the Sabbath, that wee may set forth wheat, making the Ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? |
| 8:6 | That wee may buy the poore for siluer, & the needie for a paire of shoes; yea, and sell the refuse of the wheate? |
| 8:7 | The Lord hath sworne by the excellencie of Iacob, Surely I will neuer forget any of their workes. |
| 8:8 | Shall not the land tremble for this, and euery one mourne that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise vp wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. |
| 8:9 | And it shall come to passe in that day, saith the Lord God, that I will cause the Sunne to go downe at noone, and I will darken the earth in the cleare day. |
| 8:10 | And I will turne your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation, and I will bring vp sackcloth vpon all loynes, and baldnesse vpon euery head: and I will make it as the mourning of an onely sonne, and the end thereof as a bitter day. |
| 8:11 | Behold, the daies come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. |
| 8:12 | And they shall wander from Sea to Sea, and from the North euen to the East they shall runne to and fro, to seeke the worde of the Lord, and shall not finde it. |
| 8:13 | In that day shall the faire virgines and young men faint for thirst. |
| 8:14 | They that sweare by the sinne of Samaria, and say, Thy God, O Dan, liueth, and the manner of Beer-sheba liueth, euen they shall fall, and neuer rise vp againe. |

| 8:2 | And he sayde: Amos, what seist thou? I answered: a maude with sommer frute. Then sayde the LORDE vnto me: the ende commeth vpon my people of Israel, I wil nomore ouersee them. |
| 8:3 | In that daye shall the songes off the temple be turned in to sorow, sayeth the LORDE God. Many deed bodyes shal lye in euery place, & be cast forth secretly. |
| 8:4 | Heare this, O ye yt oppresse the poore, and destroye the nedy in ye londe, sayenge: |
| 8:5 | Whan will the new moneth be gone, that we maye sell vytale, and ye Sabbath, that we maye haue scarcenesse of corne: to make the bu?shel lesse, and the Sycle greater? |
| 8:6 | We shall set vp false waightes, yt we maye get the poore vnder vs with their money, and the nedy also for shues: yee let vs sell the chaffe for corne. |
| 8:7 | The LORDE hath sworne agaynst the pryde of Iacob: these workes of theirs will I neuer forget. |
| 8:8 | Shal not the londe tremble, and all they that dwell therin, mourne for this? Shal not their destruccion come vpon them like a water streame, & flowe ouer the, as the floude of Egipte? |
| 8:9 | At the same tyme (sayeth the LORDE God) I shall cause ye Sone to go downe at noone, and the londe to be darcke in the cleare daye. |
| 8:10 | Youre hye feastes will I turne to sorow, and youre songes to mournynge: I wil brynge sack cloth vpo all backes, & baldnes vpo euery heade: yee soch a mournynge wil I sende them, as is made vpon an only begotten sonne, and they shall haue a miserable ende. |
| 8:11 | Beholde, the tyme commeth (sayeth the LORDE God) yt I shal sende an huger in to ye earth: not the hunger of bred, ner the thyrst of water: but an hunger to heare the worde off the LORDE: |
| 8:12 | so that they shal go from the one see to the other, yee from ye north vnto ye east, runnynge aboute to seke the worde of ye LORDE, and shal not fynde it. |
| 8:13 | In that tyme, shal the fayre virgins and the yonge men perish for thyrst, |
| 8:14 | yee euen they that sweare in the offence off Samaria, and saye: as truly as thy God lyueth at Dan, and as truly as ye God lyueth at Bersaba. These shal fall, and neuer ryse vp agayne. |

| 8:2 | And the Lord seide, What seist thou, Amos? And Y seide, An hook of applis. And the Lord seide to me, The ende is comun on my puple Israel; Y schal no more putte to, that Y passe bi hym. |
| 8:3 | And the herris, ether twistis, of the temple schulen greetli sowne in that dai, seith the Lord God. Many men schulen die, silence schal be cast forth in ech place. |
| 8:4 | Here ye this thing, whiche al to-breken a pore man, and maken nedi men of the lond for to faile; |
| 8:5 | and ye seien, Whanne schal heruest passe, and we schulen sille marchaundises? and the sabat, and we schulen opene wheete? that we make lesse the mesure, and encreesse the cicle, and `vndur put gileful balauncis; |
| 8:6 | that we welde bi siluer nedi men and pore men for schoon, and we sille outcastyngis of wheete? |
| 8:7 | The Lord swoor ayens the pride of Jacob, Y schal not foryete til to the ende alle the werkis of hem. |
| 8:8 | Whether on this thing the erthe schal not be mouyd togidere, and eche dwellere therof schal mourene? And it schal stie vp as al the flood, and schal be cast out, and schal flete awei as the stronde of Egipt. |
| 8:9 | And it schal be, seith the Lord, in that dai the sunne schal go doun in myddai, and Y schal make the erthe for to be derk in the dai of liyt. |
| 8:10 | And Y schal conuerte youre feeste daies in to mourenyng, and alle youre songis in to weilyng; and Y schal brynge yn on ech bac of you a sak, and on ech heed of you ballidnesse; and Y schal put it as the mourenyng of oon bigetun sone, and the laste thingis therof as a bittir dai. |
| 8:11 | Lo! the daies comen, seith the Lord, and Y schal sende out hungur in to erthe; not hungur of breed, nether thirst of watir, but of herynge the word of God. |
| 8:12 | And thei schulen be mouyd to gidere fro the see til to the see, and fro the north til to the eest thei schulen cumpasse, sekynge the word of the Lord, and thei schulen not fynde. |
| 8:13 | In that dai faire maidens schulen faile, and yonge men in thirst, whiche sweren in trespas of Samarie, |
| 8:14 | and seien, Dan, thi god lyueth, and the weie of Bersabee lyueth; and thei schulen falle, and thei schulen no more rise ayen. |
