Leviticus - Chapter: 21


21:1	And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:
21:2	But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,
21:3	And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.
21:4	But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.
21:5	They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.
21:6	They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.
21:7	They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.
21:8	Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.
21:9	And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.
21:10	And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;
21:11	Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;
21:12	Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
21:13	And he shall take a wife in her virginity.
21:14	A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.
21:15	Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.
21:16	And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
21:17	Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.
21:18	For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,
21:19	Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,
21:20	Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;
21:21	No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.
21:22	He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
21:23	Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.
21:24	And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.


21:1	ויאמר יהוה אל משׁה אמר אל הכהנים בני אהרן ואמרת אלהם לנפשׁ לא יטמא בעמיו׃
21:2	כי אם לשׁארו הקרב אליו לאמו ולאביו ולבנו ולבתו ולאחיו׃
21:3	ולאחתו הבתולה הקרובה אליו אשׁר לא היתה לאישׁ לה יטמא׃
21:4	לא יטמא בעל בעמיו להחלו׃
21:5	לא יקרחה קרחה בראשׁם ופאת זקנם לא יגלחו ובבשׂרם לא ישׂרטו שׂרטת׃
21:6	קדשׁים יהיו לאלהיהם ולא יחללו שׁם אלהיהם כי את אשׁי יהוה לחם אלהיהם הם מקריבם והיו קדשׁ׃
21:7	אשׁה זנה וחללה לא יקחו ואשׁה גרושׁה מאישׁה לא יקחו כי קדשׁ הוא לאלהיו׃
21:8	וקדשׁתו כי את לחם אלהיך הוא מקריב קדשׁ יהיה לך כי קדושׁ אני יהוה מקדשׁכם׃
21:9	ובת אישׁ כהן כי תחל לזנות את אביה היא מחללת באשׁ תשׂרף׃
21:10	והכהן הגדול מאחיו אשׁר יוצק על ראשׁו שׁמן המשׁחה ומלא את ידו ללבשׁ את הבגדים את ראשׁו לא יפרע ובגדיו לא יפרם׃
21:11	ועל כל נפשׁת מת לא יבא לאביו ולאמו לא יטמא׃
21:12	ומן המקדשׁ לא יצא ולא יחלל את מקדשׁ אלהיו כי נזר שׁמן משׁחת אלהיו עליו אני יהוה׃
21:13	והוא אשׁה בבתוליה יקח׃
21:14	אלמנה וגרושׁה וחללה זנה את אלה לא יקח כי אם בתולה מעמיו יקח אשׁה׃
21:15	ולא יחלל זרעו בעמיו כי אני יהוה מקדשׁו׃
21:16	וידבר יהוה אל משׁה לאמר׃
21:17	דבר אל אהרן לאמר אישׁ מזרעך לדרתם אשׁר יהיה בו מום לא יקרב להקריב לחם אלהיו׃
21:18	כי כל אישׁ אשׁר בו מום לא יקרב אישׁ עור או פסח או חרם או שׂרוע׃
21:19	או אישׁ אשׁר יהיה בו שׁבר רגל או שׁבר יד׃
21:20	או גבן או דק או תבלל בעינו או גרב או ילפת או מרוח אשׁך׃
21:21	כל אישׁ אשׁר בו מום מזרע אהרן הכהן לא יגשׁ להקריב את אשׁי יהוה מום בו את לחם אלהיו לא יגשׁ להקריב׃
21:22	לחם אלהיו מקדשׁי הקדשׁים ומן הקדשׁים יאכל׃
21:23	אך אל הפרכת לא יבא ואל המזבח לא יגשׁ כי מום בו ולא יחלל את מקדשׁי כי אני יהוה מקדשׁם׃
21:24	וידבר משׁה אל אהרן ואל בניו ואל כל בני ישׂראל׃


21:1	And Jehovah saith unto Moses, `Speak unto the priests, sons of Aaron, and thou hast said unto them, For `any' person `a priest' is not defiled among his people,
21:2	except for his relation who `is' near unto him -- for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.
21:3	and for his sister, the virgin, who is near unto him, who hath not been to a man; for her he is defiled.
21:4	`A master `priest' doth not defile himself among his people -- to pollute himself;
21:5	they do not make baldness on their head, and the corner of their beard they do not shave, and in their flesh they do not make a cutting;
21:6	they are holy to their God, and they pollute not the name of their God, for the fire-offerings of Jehovah, bread of their God, they are bringing near, and have been holy.
21:7	`A woman, a harlot, or polluted, they do not take, and a woman cast out from her husband they do not take, for he `is' holy to his God;
21:8	and thou hast sanctified him, for the bread of thy God he is bringing near; he is holy to thee; for holy `am' I, Jehovah, sanctifying you.
21:9	`And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring -- her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.
21:10	`And the high priest of his brethren, on whose head is poured the anointing oil, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments, his head doth not uncover, nor rend his garments,
21:11	nor beside any dead person doth he come; for his father and for his mother he doth not defile himself;
21:12	nor from the sanctuary doth he go out, nor doth he pollute the sanctuary of his God, for the separation of the anointing oil of his God `is' on him; I `am' Jehovah.
21:13	`And he taketh a wife in her virginity;
21:14	widow, or cast out, or polluted one -- a harlot -- these he doth not take, but a virgin of his own people he doth take `for' a wife,
21:15	and he doth not pollute his seed among his people; for I `am' Jehovah, sanctifying him.'
21:16	And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
21:17	`Speak unto Aaron, saying, No man of thy seed to their generations in whom there is blemish doth draw near to bring near the bread of his God,
21:18	for no man in whom `is' blemish doth draw near -- a man blind, or lame or dwarfed, or enlarged,
21:19	or a man in whom there is a breach in the foot, or a breach in the hand,
21:20	or hump-backed, or a dwarf, or with a mixture in his eye, or a scurvy person, or scabbed, or broken-testicled.
21:21	`No man in whom is blemish (of the seed of Aaron the priest) doth come nigh to bring near the fire-offerings of Jehovah; blemish `is' in him; the bread of his God he doth not come nigh to bring near.
21:22	`Bread of his God -- of the most holy things, and of the holy things -- he doth eat;
21:23	only, unto the vail he doth not enter, and unto the altar he doth not draw nigh; for blemish `is' in him; and he doth not pollute My sanctuaries; for I `am' Jehovah, sanctifying them.'
21:24	And Moses speaketh unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the sons of Israel.
