| 3:1 | And the word of ye Lord came vnto Ionah the second time, saying; |
| 3:2 | Arise, goe vnto Nineueh that great citie, and preach vnto it the preaching that I bid thee. |
| 3:3 | So Ionah arose and went vnto Nineueh, according to the word of the Lord: now Nineueh was an exceeding great citie of three dayes iourney. |
| 3:4 | And Ionah began to enter into the citie a dayes iourney, and hee cryed, and said; Yet fourtie dayes, and Niniueh shalbe ouerthrowen. |
| 3:5 | So the people of Nineueh beleeued God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackecloth from the greatest of them euen to the least of them. |
| 3:6 | For word came vnto the King of Nineueh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him and couered him with sackcloth, & sate in ashes. |
| 3:7 | And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineueh (by the decree of the King and his nobles) saying; Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flocke taste any thing; let them not feede, nor drinke water. |
| 3:8 | But let man and beast be couered with sackecloth, and cry mightily vnto God: yea, let them turne euery one from his euill way, and from the violence that is in their hands. |
| 3:9 | Who can tell if God will turne and repent, and turne away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? |
| 3:10 | And God saw their workes, that they turned from their euill way, and God repented of the euill that hee had sayd, that he would doe vnto them, and he did it not. |

| 3:3 | So Ionas arose, and wente to Niniue at the LORDES commaundement. Niniue was a greate cite vnto God, namely, off thre dayes iourney. |
| 3:4 | And Ionas wente to, and entred in to ye cite: euen a dayes iourney, and cried, sayenge: There are yet xl. dayes, and then shal Niniue be ouerthrowen. |
| 3:5 | And the people of Niniue beleued God, and proclamed fastinge, and arayed them selues in sack cloth, as well the greate as the small of them. |
| 3:6 | And the tydinges came vnto ye kinge of Niniue, which arose out off his seate, and dyd his apparell off, and put on sack cloth, and sate him downe in asshes. |
| 3:7 | And it was cried and commaunded in Niniue, by the auctorite of the kige and his lordes, sayenge: se that nether man or beest, oxe or shepe taist ought at all: and that they nether fede ner drincke water: |
| 3:8 | but put on sack cloth both man and beest, and crye mightely vnto God: yee se that euery man turne fro his euell waye, and from the wickednesse, yt he hath in honde. |
| 3:9 | Who can tell? God maye turne, and repete, and cease from his fearce wrath, that we perish not. |
| 3:10 | And when God sawe their workes, how they turned from their wicked wayes: he repented on the euell, which he sayde he wolde do vnto them, and dyd it not. |
| 3:1 | And the word of the Lord was maad the secounde tyme to Jonas, and seide, Rise thou, |
| 3:2 | and go in to Nynyue, the greet citee, and preche thou in it the prechyng which Y speke to thee. |
| 3:3 | And Jonas roos, and wente in to Nynyue, bi the word of the Lord. And Nynyue was a greet citee, of the iurnei of thre daies. |

| 3:5 | And men of Nynyue bileueden to the Lord, and prechiden fastyng, and weren clothid with sackis, fro the more `til to the lesse. |
| 3:6 | And the word cam til to the kyng of Nynyue; and he roos of his seete, and castide awei his clothing fro him, and was clothid with a sak, and sat in aische. |
| 3:7 | And he criede, and seide in Nynyue of the mouth of the kyng and of `his princis, `and seide, Men, and werk beestis, and oxun, and scheep taaste not ony thing, nether be fed, nether drynke watir. |
| 3:8 | And men be hilid with sackis, and werk beestis crie to the Lord in strengthe; `and be a man conuertid fro his yuel weie, and fro wickidnesse that is in the hondis of hem. |
| 3:9 | Who woot, if God be conuertid, and foryyue, and be turned ayen fro woodnesse of his wraththe, and we schulen not perische? |
| 3:10 | And God sai the werkis of hem, that thei weren conuertid fro her yuel weie; and God hadde merci on the malice which he spac, that he schulde do to hem, and did not. |
