Nahum - Chapter: 2

>
2:1He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way: make thy loines strong: fortifie thy power mightily.
2:2For the Lord hath turned away the excellencie of Iacob, as the excellencie of Israel: for the emptiers haue emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.
2:3The shield of his mightie men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the charets shall bee with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the firre trees shall bee terribly shaken.
2:4The charets shall rage in the streets, they shall iustle one against another in the broad wayes: they shall seeme like torches, they shall runne like the lightnings.
2:5Hee shall recount his worthies: they shall stumble in their walke: they shall make haste to the wal thereof, and the defence shall bee prepared.
2:6The gates of the riuers shall bee opened, and the palace shall bee dissolued.
2:7And Huzzab shall be led away captiue, she shall be brought vp, and her maids shall leade her as with the voyce of doues, tabring vpon their breasts.
2:8But Nineueh is of olde like a poole of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand shall they cry: but none shal looke backe.
2:9Take ye the spoyle of siluer, take the spoile of golde: for there is none end of the store, and glory out of all the pleasant furniture.
2:10Shee is emptie, and voide, and waste, and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and much paine is in all loynes, and the faces of them all gather blacknesse.
2:11Where is the dwelling of the Lions, and the feeding place of the yong Lions? where the Lion, euen the olde Lion walked, and the Lions whelpe, and none made them afraid.
2:12The Lion did teare in pieces enough for his whelpes, and strangled for his Lionesses, and filled his holes with pray, and his dens with rauine.
2:13Behold, I am against thee, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will burne her charets in the smoke, and the sword shall deuoure thy yong Lions, and I wil cut off thy pray from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.

2:4The charets shall rage in the streetes: they shall runne to and from in the hie wayes: they shall seeme like lampes: they shall shoote like the lightning.
2:5He shall remember his strong men: they shall stumble as they goe: they shall make haste to the walles thereof, and the defence shall bee prepared.
2:6The gates of the riuers shalbe opened, and the palace shall melt.
2:7And Huzzab the Queene shalbe led away captiue, and her maides shall leade her as with the voyce of doues, smiting vpon their breastes.
2:8But Nineueh is of olde like a poole of water: yet they shall flee away. Stande, stande, shall they crie: but none shall looke backe.
2:9Spoyle ye the siluer, spoyle the golde: for there is none ende of the store, and glorie of all the pleasant vessels.
2:10She is emptie and voyde and waste, and the heart melteth, and the knees smite together, and sorowe is in all loynes, and the faces of the all gather blackenesse.
2:11Where is the dwelling of the lyons, and the pasture of the lyons whelpes? where the lyon, and the lionesse walked, and the lyons whelpe, and none made them afrayde.
2:12The lyon did teare in pieces ynough for his whelpes, and woryed for his lyonesse, and filled his holes with praye, and his dennes with, spoyle.
2:13Beholde, I come vnto thee, sayeth the Lord of hostes, and I will burne her charets in the smoke, and the sworde shall deuoure thy yong lyons, and I will cut off thy spoyle from the earth, and the voyce of thy messengers shall no more be heard.

 

2:1The scaterer shall come vp agaynst the, & laye sege to the castell. Loke thou well to the stretes, make thy loynes stronge, arme thy self with all thy myght:
2:2for the Lord shal restore againe the glory of Iacob, lyke as the glory of Israel. The destroyers haue broken them downe, & marred the wyne braunches.
2:3The shilde of his gyauntes glystereth, hys men of warre are clothed in purple. His charettes are as fyre, when he maketh him forward, & his spere shaftes are soked in venim
2:4The charettes rolle vpon the stretes, & welter in the hye wayes. They are to loke vpon lyke cressettes of fyre, & go swyftly, as the lyghteninge.
2:5When he doth but warne his giauntes, they fall in their araye, & hastely they clymme vp the walles: yee, the engins of the warre are prepared all ready.
2:6The water portes shall be opened, and the kynges palace shall fall.
2:7The quene her selfe shall be led awaye captiue, and her gentyl wemen shal mourne as the doues, & grone within their hertes.
2:8Niniue is like a pole full of water, but then shal they be fayne to fle. Stand, stande, (shal they crie) & there shall not one turne backe.
2:9Awaye wt the syluer, awaye with the golde for here is no ende of treasure. There shalbe a multitude of all maner of costly ornamentes
2:10Thus must she be spoyled, emptied & clene striped out: that their hertes may be melted awaye, their knees tremble, all their loynes be weake, & their faces blacke as a pot.
2:11Where is now the dwellyng of the lyons, & the pasture of the lyons whelpes? where the lyon & the lyonesse went wt the whelpes, & no man frayed them awaye?
2:12But the lyon spoyled ynough for hys yonge ones, & deuoured for his lyonesse: he filled his dennes wt his praye, & his dwelling place wt that he had rauished.Nah
2:13Beholde, I wil vpon the (saieth the LORDE of hoostes) and wil set fyre vpon thy charettes, that they shal smoke withall, and the swerde shal deuoure thy yonge lyons. I wil make an ende of thy spoylinge from out of the earth, & the voyce of thy messaungers shall nomore be herde.
