| 8:2 | and seide, The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Y hatide Sion with greet feruour, and with greet indignacioun Y hatide it. |
| 8:3 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Y am turned ayen to Sion, and Y schal dwelle in the myddil of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem schal be clepid a citee of treuthe, and hil of the Lord schal be clepid an hil halewid. |
| 8:4 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Yit elde men and elde wymmen schulen dwelle in the stretis of Jerusalem, and the staf of man in his hond, for the multitude of yeeris. |
| 8:5 | And the stretis of the cite schulen be fillid with `yonge children and maidens, pleiynge in the stretis `of it. |
| 8:6 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Though it schal be seyn hard bifor the iyen of relifs of this puple in tho daies, whether bifor myn iyen it schal be hard, seith the Lord of oostis? |
| 8:7 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal saue my puple fro the lond of the eest, and fro lond of goynge doun of the sunne; |
| 8:8 | and Y schal brynge hem, and thei schulen dwelle in the myddil of Jerusalem; and thei schulen be to me in to a puple, and Y schal be to hem in to God, and in treuthe, and in riytwisnesse. |
| 8:9 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Be youre hondis coumfortid, whiche heren in these daies these wordis bi the mouth of profetis, in the dai in which the hous of the Lord of oostis is foundid, that the temple schulde be bildid. |
| 8:10 | Sotheli bifore tho daies hire of men was not, nether hire of werk beestis was, nether to man entrynge and goynge out was pees for tribulacioun; and Y lefte alle men, ech ayens his neiybore. |
| 8:11 | But now not after the formere daies Y schal do to relifs of this puple, seith the Lord of oostis, |
| 8:12 | but seed of pees schal be; vyneyerd schal yyue his fruyt, and erthe schal yyue his buriownyng, and heuenes schulen yyue her dew; and Y schal make the relifs of this puple for to welde alle these thingis. |
| 8:13 | And it schal be, as the hous of Juda and hous of Israel weren cursyng in hethene men, so Y schal saue you, and ye schulen be blessyng. Nyle ye drede, be youre hondis coumfortid; |
| 8:14 | for the Lord of oostis seith these thingis, As Y thouyte for to turmente you, whanne youre fadris hadden terrid me to wraththe, |
| 8:15 | seith the Lord, and Y hadde not merci, so Y conuertid thouyte in these daies for to do wel to the hous of Juda and Jerusalem; nyle ye drede. |
| 8:16 | Therfor these ben the wordis whiche ye schulen do; speke ye treuthe, ech man with his neiybore; deme ye treuthe and dom of pees in youre yatis; |
| 8:17 | and thenke ye not in youre hertis, ony man yuel ayens his frend, and loue ye not a fals ooth; for alle thes thingis it ben, whiche Y hate, seith the Lord. |
| 8:18 | And the word of the Lord of oostis was maad to me, |
| 8:19 | and seide, The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Fastyng of the fourthe monethe, `and fastyng of the fyuethe, and fastyng of the seuenthe, and fasting of the tenthe, schal be to the hous of Juda in to ioie and gladnes, and in to solempnitees ful cleer; loue ye oneli treuthe and pees. |
| 8:20 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Puplis schulen come on ech side, and dwelle in many citees; |
| 8:21 | and the dwelleris schulen go, oon to an other, and seie, Go we, and biseche the face of the Lord, and seke we the Lord of oostis; also I shal go. |
| 8:22 | And many puplis schulen come, and strong folkis, for to seke the Lord of oostis in Jerusalem, and for to biseche the face of the Lord. |
| 8:23 | The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, In tho daies, in whiche ten men of alle langagis of hethene men schulen catche, and thei schulen catche the hemme of a man Jew, and seye, We schulen go with you; for we han herd, that God is with you. |

| 8:1 | So the worde of the LORDE came vnto me, sayenge: |
| 8:2 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: I was in a greate gelousy ouer Sion, yee I haue bene very gelous ouer her in a greate displeasure. |
| 8:3 | thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: I wil turne me agayne vnto Sion, and wil dwel in the myddest of Ierusalem: so that Ierusalem shalbe called a faithfull and true cite, the hill of the LORDE of hoostes, yee an holy hill. |
| 8:4 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: There shall yet olde men and women dwel agayne in the stretes of Ierusalem: yee and soch as go with staues in their hondes for very age. |
| 8:5 | The stretes of the cite also shalbe full of yonge boyes and damselles, playnge vpon the stretes. |
| 8:6 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: yf the residue of this people thynke it to be vnpossible in these dayes, shulde it therfore be vnpossible in my sight, sayeth the LORDE of hoostes |
| 8:7 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: Beholde, I wil delyuer my people from the londe of the east and west, |
| 8:8 | and wil brynge them agayne: that they maye dwel at Ierusalem. They shalbe my people, and I will be their God, in treuth and rightuousnesse. |
| 8:9 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: let youre hondes be stronge, ye that now heare these wordes by the mouth of the prophetes, which be in these dayes that the foundacion is layed vpon the LORDE of hoostes house, that the temple maye be buylded. |
| 8:10 | For why? before these dayes nether men ner catel coude wynne eny thinge, nether might eny man come in and out in rest, for trouble: but I let euery man go agaynst his neghboure. |
| 8:11 | Neuerthelesse I wil now intreate the residue of this people nomore, as afore tyme (saieth the LORDE of hoostes) |
| 8:12 | but they shalbe a sede of peace. The vynyarde shal geue hir frute, the grounde shal geue hir increase, and the heauens shal geue their dew: and I shal cause the remnaunt of this people, to haue all these in possession. |
| 8:13 | And it shall come to passe, that like as ye were a curse amonge the Heithen (O ye house of Iuda and ye house of Israel) Euen so wil I delyuer you, that ye shalbe a blessynge: feare not, but let youre hodes be stronge. |
| 8:14 | For thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: like as I deuysed to punysh you, what tyme as youre fathers prouoked me vnto wrath (sayeth the LORDE of hoostes) and spared not: |
| 8:15 | Euen so am I determed now in these dayes, for to do wel vnto the house of Iuda and Ierusalem, therfore feare ye not. |
| 8:16 | Now the thinges that ye shal do, are these: Speake euery man the treuth vnto his neghboure, execute iudgment truly and peaceably within youre portes, |
| 8:17 | none of you ymagyn euell in his hert agaynst his neghboure, and loue no false oothes: for all these are the thinges that I hate, sayeth the LORDE. |
| 8:18 | And the worde of the LORDE of hoostes came vnto me, sayenge: |
| 8:19 | thus sayeth the LORDE of hoostes: The fast of the fourth moneth, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seuenth, and the fast of the tenth, shal be ioye and gladnesse, & prosperous hye feastes vnto the house of Iuda: Only, loue the treuth and peace. |
| 8:20 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: There shall yet come people, and the inhabiters of many cities: |
| 8:21 | and they that dwell in one cite, shal go to another, sayenge: Vp, let vs go, and praye before the LORDE, let vs seke the LORDE of hoostes, I wil go with you. |
| 8:22 | Yee moch people and mightie Heithen shal come and seke the LORDE of hoostes at Ierusalem, and to praye before the LORDE. |
| 8:23 | Thus saieth the LORDE of hoostes: In that tyme shal ten men (out of all maner of languages of the Gentiles) take one Iewe by the hemme of his garment, and saye: we wil go with you, for we haue herde, that God is amonge you. |
