Malachi - Chapter: 2

>
2:1And now (O ye priestes) thys commaundement toucheth you:
2:2yf ye wyll not heare it, nor regarde it, to geue the glorye vnto my name, sayeth the lorde of hostes, I wyll sende a curse vpon you, and wyl cursle your blessinges: yea, curse them wil I yf ye do not take hede.
2:3Behold, I shall corrupte your sede, and cast dong in your faces: turn the donge of your solempne feastes, & it shal cleue faste vpon you:
2:4& ye shal know, that I haue sent this commaundement vnto you: that my couenaunt which I made with Leui, myght stande, sayeth the Lorde of Hostes.
2:5I made a couenaunt of life & peace wt hym: this I gaue him, that he might stande in awe of me: & so he did feare me, & had my name in reuerence.
2:6The law of truth was in his mouth and there was no wickednesse founde in hys lippe. He walcked with me in peace & equite, and dyd turne manye one awaye from their synnes.
2:7For the priestes lippes should be sure knowledge, that men may seke the lawe at his mouth: for he is a messaunger of the lorde of hostes.
2:8But as for you, ye are gone cleane out of the waye, & haue caused the multitude to be offended at the lawe: ye haue broken the couenaunt of Leui, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
2:9Therfore wil I also make you to be despised, and to be of no reputacion among al the people, because ye haue not kepte my wayes, but bene parcial in the lawe.
2:10Haue we not all one father? Hath not one God made vs? why doth euery one of vs then despyse his owne brother, and so breake the couenaunt of oure fathers?
2:11Now hath Iuda offended, yea, the abhomynacyon is done in Israel & in Ierusalem, for Iuda hath defiled the Sanctuarye of the Lorde, whyche he loned, & haue kept the doughter of a straunge God.
2:12But the Lorde shall destroye the man that doth thys (yea, both the mayster and the scolar) out of the tabernacle of Iacob, with hym that offereth vp meateofferinge vnto the lord of hostes.
2:13Nowe haue ye brought it to thys poynte againe, that the aulter of the Lorde is couered with teares wepyng and mourning: so that I will no more regarde the meatofferinge, neyther will I receyue or accepte anye thinge at your handes
2:14And yet ye say: wherfore? Euen because that where as the Lorde made a couenaunt betwixt the & the wyfe of thy youth, thou hast despysed her: Yet is she thyne owne companion and maried wife.
2:15So dyd not the one, and yet had he an excellente spirite. What dyd then the one? He sought the sede promised of God. Therfore loke well to your spirit, and let no man despise the wyfe of his youth.
2:16Yf thou hatest her, put her awaye, sayeth the Lord God of Israel, & geue her a clothinge for the scorne, sayeth the Lord of hostes. Loke wel then to your spirit, & despise her not.
2:17Ye greue the lord with your wordes, & yet ye say: wherwt al haue we greued him? In this, that ye say: Al that do euil are good in the sight of god, and such please him. Or els where is the God that punisheth?

2:1And now (O ye prestes) this commaundement toucheth you:
2:2yf ye wyll not heare it, ner regard it, to geue the glory vnto my name, sayeth the Lorde of hostes, I will sende a curse vpon you, & will curse youre blessynges: yee curse them wyll I yf ye do not take hede.
2:3Beholde, I shall corrupte your sede, and cast donge in youre faces, euen the donge of youre solempne feastes and it shall cleue fast vpon you.
2:4And ye shall knowe, that I haue sent thys commaundement vnto you: that my couenaunt which I made with Leui, might stande sayeth the Lorde of hoostes.
2:5I made a couenaunt of lyfe & peace wyth him: this I gaue him, that he myght stande in awe of me: and so he dyd feare me, and had my name in reuerence.
2:6The lawe of truthe was in his mouth, and there was no wickednesse founde in his lyppes. He walked with me in peace and equyte, and dyd turne many one awaye from their synnes.
2:7For in the prestes lyppes shulde be sure knowledge, that men may seke the lawe at his mouth, for he is a messaunger of the Lorde of hostes.
2:8But as for you, ye are gone clene out of the waye, and haue caused the multitude to be offended at the lawe: ye haue broken the couenaunt of Leui, sayeth the Lorde of hostes.
2:9Therfore wyll I also make you to be despysed, and to be of no reputacyon amonge all the people: because ye haue not kepte my wayes, but haue bene parciall in the lawe.
2:10Haue we not all one father? Hath not one God made vs? Why doth euery one of vs then despise his awne brother, & so breake the couenaunt of oure fathers?
2:11Now hath Iuda offended: yee, the abhominacion is donne in Israel and in Ierusalem for Iuda hath defyled the Sanctuary of the Lorde, which he loued, and hath kepte the daughter of a straunge God.
2:12But the Lorde shal destroye the man that doth this: (yee, both the master and the scoler) out of the tabernacle of Iacob with hym that offreth vp meatoffryng vnto the Lorde of hostes.
2:13Now haue ye brought it to this poynte agayne, that the aulter of the Lorde is couered with teares, wepynge and mournynge: so that I wyll nomore regard the meatofferynge, nether wyl I receaue or accepte eny thyng at your handes.
2:14And yet ye saye: wherfore? Euen because that where as the Lorde made a couenaunt betwixte the and the wyfe of thy youth, thou hast despysed. Yet is she thyne awne companyon and maryed wyfe.
2:15So dyd not the one, and yet had he an excellent sprete. What dyd then the one? He sought the sede promised of God. Therfore loke well to your sprete, and let no man despyse the wyfe of his youth.
2:16Yf thou hatest her put her awaye sayeth the Lorde God of Israell and geue her clothynge for the scorne, sayeth the Lorde of Hostes. Loke well then to youre sprete, and despyse her not.
2:17Ye greue the Lorde with your wordes, & yet ye saye: wherwith al haue we greued him? In this, that ye saye. Al that do euel are good in the syght of God, and soch please hym. Or els where is the God that punisheth?

2:1And now, O ye Priests, this commandement is for you.
2:2If yee will not heare it, nor consider it in your heart, to giue glory vnto my Name, sayth the Lord of hostes, I will euen sende a curse vpon you, and will curse your blessings: yea, I haue cursed them alreadie, because yee doe not consider it in your heart.
2:3Behold, I wil corrupt your seede, and cast dongue vpon your faces, euen the dongue of your solemne feastes, and you shall be like vnto it.
2:4And yee shall know, that I haue sent this commandement vnto you, that my couenant, which I made with Leui, might stand, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
2:5My couenant was with him of life and peace, and I gaue him feare, and he feared mee, and was afraid before my Name.
2:6The lawe of trueth was in his mouth, and there was no iniquitie founde in his lippes: hee walked with me in peace and equitie, and did turne many away from iniquitie.
2:7For the Priestes lippes shoulde preserue knowledge, and they shoulde seeke the Lawe at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hostes.
2:8But yee are gone out of the way: yee haue caused many to fall by the Lawe: yee haue broken the couenant of Leui, sayeth the Lord of hostes.
2:9Therefore haue I also made you to be despised, and vile before all the people, because yee kept not my wayes, but haue beene partiall in the Lawe.
2:10Haue we not all one father? hath not one God made vs? why doe we transgresse euery one against his brother, and breake the couenant of our fathers?
2:11Iudah hath transgressed, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Ierusalem: for Iudah hath defiled the holinesse of the Lord, which hee loued, and hath maried the daughter of a strange God.
2:12The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this: both the master and the seruaunt out of the Tabernacle of Iaacob, and him that offereth an offering vnto the Lord of hostes.
2:13And this haue ye done againe, and couered the altar of the Lord with teares, with weeping and with mourning: because the offering is no more regarded, neither receiued acceptably at your handes.
2:14Yet yee say, Wherein? Because the Lord hath beene witnesse betweene thee and the wife of thy youth, against whome thou hast transgressed: yet is shee thy companion, and the wife of thy couenant.
2:15And did not hee make one? yet had hee abundance of spirit: and wherefore one? because he sought a godly seede: therefore keepe your selues in your spirit, and let none trespasse against the wife of his youth.
2:16If thou hatest her, put her away, sayeth the Lord God of Israel, yet he couereth the iniurie vnder his garment, saieth the Lord of hosts: therefore keepe your selues in your spirite, and transgresse not.
2:17Yee haue wearied the Lord with your woordes: yet yee say, Wherein haue we wearied him? When ye say, Euery one that doeth euill, is good in the sight of the Lord, and he deliteth in them. Or where is the God of iudgement?
