1:13	Zorobabel bigat Abyut. Abyut bigat Eliachym. Eliachym bigat Asor.
1:14	Asor bigat Sadoc. Sadoc bigat Achym.
1:15	Achym bigat Elyut. Elyut bigat Eleasar. Eleasar bigat Mathan.
1:16	Mathan bigat Jacob. Jacob bigat Joseph, the hosebonde of Marye, of whom Jhesus was borun, that is clepid Christ.
1:17	And so alle generaciouns fro Abraham to Dauid ben fourtene generacions, and fro Dauid to the transmygracioun of Babiloyne ben fourtene generaciouns, and fro the transmygracioun of Babiloyne to Crist ben fourtene generaciouns.
1:18	But the generacioun of Crist was thus. Whanne Marie, the modir of Jhesu, was spousid to Joseph, bifore thei camen togidere, she was foundun hauynge of the Hooli Goost in the wombe.
1:19	And Joseph, hir hosebonde, for he was riytful, and wolde not puplische hir, he wolde priueli haue left hir.
1:20	But while he thouyte thes thingis, lo! the aungel of the Lord apperide `in sleep to hym, and seide, Joseph, the sone of Dauid, nyle thou drede to take Marie, thi wijf; for that thing that is borun in hir is of the Hooli Goost.
1:21	And she shal bere a sone, and thou shalt clepe his name Jhesus; for he schal make his puple saaf fro her synnes.
1:22	For al this thing was don, that it schulde be fulfillid, that was seid of the Lord bi a prophete, seiynge, Lo!
1:23	a virgyn shal haue in wombe, and she schal bere a sone, and thei schulen clepe his name Emanuel, that is to seie, God with vs.
1:24	And Joseph roos fro sleepe, and dide as the aungel of the Lord comaundide hym, and took Marie, his wijf;
1:25	and he knew her not, til she hadde borun her firste bigete sone, and clepide his name Jhesus.

1:2	Abraham begate Isaac. And Isaac begate Iacob. And Iacob begat Iudas and his brethren.
1:3	And Iudas begate Phares, and Zara of Thamar. And Phares begate Esrom. And Esrom begate Aram.
1:4	And Aram begate Aminadab. And Aminadab begate Naasson. And Naasson begat Salmon.
1:5	And Salmon begate Booz of Rachab. And Booz begat Obed of Ruth. and Obed begat Iesse.
1:6	And Iesse begate Dauid the King. And Dauid the King begate Salomon of her that was the wife of Vrias.
1:7	And Salomon begate Roboam. And Roboam begate Abia. And Abia begate Asa.
1:8	And Asa begate Iosaphat. And Iosaphat begate Ioram. And Ioram begate Hozias.
1:9	And Hozias begat Ioatham. And Ioatham begate Achaz. And Achaz begate Ezekias.
1:10	And Ezekias begate Manasses. And Manasses begate Amon. And Amon begate Iosias.
1:11	And Iosias begate Iakim. And Iakim begate Iechonias and his brethren about the time they were caried away to Babylon.
1:12	And after they were caried away into Babylon, Iechonias begate Salathiel. And Salathiel begate Zorobabel.
1:13	And Zorobabel begate Abiud. And Abiud begate Eliacim. And Eliacim begate Azor.
1:14	And Azor begate Sadoc. And Sadoc begate Achim. And Achim begate Eliud.
1:15	And Eliud begate Eleazar. And Eleazar begate Matthan. And Matthan begate Iacob.
1:16	And Iacob begat Ioseph ye husband of Mary, of whom was borne Jesus, that is called Christ.
1:17	So all the generations from Abraham to Dauid, are fourtene generations. And from Dauid vntil they were caried away into Babylon, fourtene generations: and after they were caried away into Babylon vntill Christ, fourteene generations.
1:18	Nowe the birth of Jesus Christ was thus, When as his mother Mary was betrothed to Ioseph, before they came together, shee was found with childe of the holy Ghost.
1:19	Then Ioseph her husband being a iust man, and not willing to make her a publike example, was minded to put her away secretly.
1:20	But whiles he thought these things, behold, the Angel of the Lord appeared vnto him in a dreame, saying, Ioseph, the sonne of Dauid, feare not to take Mary thy wife: for that which is conceiued in her, is of the holy Ghost.
1:21	And she shall bring foorth a sonne, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for hee shall saue his people from their sinnes.
1:22	And al this was done that it might be fulfilled, which is spoken of the Lord by ye Prophet, saying,
1:23	Behold, a virgine shalbe with childe, and shall beare a sonne, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is by interpretation, God with vs.
1:24	Then Ioseph, being raised from sleepe, did as the Angel of the Lord had inioyned him, and tooke his wife.
1:25	But he knew her not, til she had broght forth her first borne sonne, and he called his name JESUS.

1:3	And Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, and Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram.
1:4	And Ram begot Amminadab, and Amminadab begot Nahshon, and Nahshon begot Salmon.
1:5	And Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, and Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, and Obed begot Jesse,
1:6	and Jesse begot David the king, and David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.
1:7	And Solomon begot Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa.
1:8	And Asa begot Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah,
1:9	And Uzziah begot Jotham, and Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah.
1:10	And Hezekiah begot Manasseh, and Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah.
1:11	And Josiah begot Jechoniah and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon.
1:12	And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechoniah begot Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begot Zerubbabel.
1:13	And Zerubbabel begot Abiud, and Abiud begot Eliakim, and Eliakim begot Azor.
1:14	And Azor begot Zadoc, and Zadoc begot Achim, and Achim begot Eliud.
1:15	And Eliud begot Eleazar, and Eleazar begot Matthan, and Matthan begot Jacob.
1:16	And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
1:17	So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations, and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations, and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations.
1:18	Now the birth of Jesus Christ happened this way: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph before they came together, she was found with child from the Holy Spirit.
1:19	Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
1:20	But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to yourself Mary your wife, because that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
1:21	And she will bear a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, because He will save His people from their sins."
1:22	So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying:
1:23	"Behold, a virgin will be with child, and will bear a Son, and they will call His name Immanuel," which being translated is, "God with us."
1:24	Then Joseph being raised from sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and took to him his wife,
1:25	and did not know her until she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And he called His name JESUS.
